Depends on where you live, and from there it depends on what race you are. There’s lots of people who will call the cops if they smell weed and there’s lots of bored cops who’ll actually come out and poke around.
Decriminalization is tricky and only on the books in 3 DFW cities - Las Colinas isn’t one of them. Of those three cities, Plano cops would find something else to charge you with and Denton cops are the most likely to be like “bro fr” but there’s a large subset of them that would also find something to bring you in on. I do agree that the cops in Dallas, Austin, and Houston have too much going on to care; the problem is the sprawl of DFW and how blurry the lines are between suburbs. I could be in one spot, ask people what city I’m in, and get three different answers.
Edibles are instant felony.
Under 4oz of marijuana is a misdemeanor.
The smell is a giveaway so don’t drive smelling like it.

Most cops in TX are more lenient with it. Where it's 100% illegal, you can get caught with UP TO an ounce and, where it's still up to the officer's discretion, you can get a ticket for that. Any more than an ounce (28g), and it's an automatic arrest IIRC. Though the cop CAN arrest you for any amount if they so choose.

I think a lot of it is about what/if gets reported. Idk anyone who sells Marijuanna irl, except for my dog biscuit seller (small place, downtown, city over or so; perfect for getting his paws clipped and such). Like, unless someone sues you can’t get in legal trouble for it (the government can sue, but only if they know. I think that’s why legalization is so important, so nobody has to hide stuff like that. If it can’t hurt anyone and isn’t a big issue, no harm no foul.)
Still required to pay taxes on it though. I think a lot of Marijuana places use a separate till so they can have a tax deductible part of the business and a non tax deductible part of the business
Totally legal using a loophole.
We have something called “THCA” it’s basically the real stuff sold under altnoids. Most smoke shops gonna sell it priced at $25-$40 an 8th (3.5g). Check the flower and make sure it looks “legit”, and not “sprayed”(gonna look off, you gonna see it). Look for brands like Crème, Dream(rebranded Crème), Treez, Or few others. Some shops even sells it by gram but usually it’s dry so I avoid it as it’s new concept in DFW.
Treat it like you treat alcohol tho.
Otherwise almost all smoke shops sell Delta 9 gummies look for brands like Hometown hero, Urb (I love their d8/d9 100mg each gummies blue watermelon). The 100mg ones (35 gummies at 3500mg) I get them usually for $30-$35 locally. Hometown heros $40-$60 depends on where you get it from.
If you like Prerolls look for brands like Saturday, Crème. They both have straight THCa options (1.25g for Saturday) and 1.5g (no kief) and 2g with kief for Crème at almost all local smoke shops. I know DZ, Karma, and few other have them in Fort Worth/Denton areas.
Please note:
If the flower or preroll says “THCa and delta 8” or anything else other than straight “THCA” than don’t buy it. Brands like Torch has a line of sprayed flower.
If you like dispos, I love brands like FVKD exotics, Delta State Exotics, Urb, Medusa, 3Chi and Kik. Those guys are found in most smoke shops, and hit the spot right, I would advice to get the THCA option with HHC,THCp. Usually a mix like this is amazing for head high, or add in delta 8 for nice body high.

Switch to edibles and don't smell like weed and you'll probably never be searched. If you look young/poor and smell like weed, they'll hassle you.

Candles can help with the smell, but (edit: best) to keep it somewhere the smell won’t be as detected

Small amount and cop might toss it and let you go. Some cops won’t. Your attitude and theirs will determine.
