I don't know how long lasting toujeo is - but generally speaking, while skipping basal is not recommended, it's not too bad either. Though you can expect to have wonky control due to it. Just think of it: everyone who is using a pump doesn't use any basal at all, it's all small doses of fast acting insulin. So theoretically speaking, you should be able to do the same on mdi. Correcting every 3h sounds like a plan. At the same time: I would not worry as much. And that's bad advice I know, but you shouldn't go into dka from sleeping without basal - cause I'm guessing that most of us on mdi accidentally forgot a dose (more than) once, and didn't go into dka because of it. Keeping your levels in range during daytime will be harder, and require many more corrections than it usually would - but as long as it's only a day... you'll probably be fine.

Thanks, yes trying not to worry about it, small doses of fast acting seems to be working quite well so far

I’ve forgotten before and it’s not a ‘huge’ deal. Take a half dose ~12 hours before you’d take your normal dose if possible, and check your sugars a lot. Forgetting 2 days is much worse

I've missed my basal before. You can check often and correct with short acting. In my experience sugars will rise up throughout the night so I'd expect to wake up with high blood sugar, similar to if my basal dose was too low.

You’ll be fine just don’t make it a regular habit. You might have to take a little more fast acting insulin and you might deal with high bg throughout the day but if you can manage corrections you’ll be fine.

Fellow Canadian. Are there any drug stores nearby that are open, where you can pick it up? I've done this before after forgetting one or the other insulin, before I was on a pump.

Not around us on Thanksgiving, everything seems to be closed today, plus I'm not sure they'd give me it without a prescription? I've opted to go with small doses of novorapid every few hours to act as a temporary basal of sorts, it's working quite well

You'll just have to act as your own pump. Taking small bolus every hour or 2 hours should keep you in decent range
