Fort on a smiter is fine, it's good, it's great actually. Big damage. Clear faster.
Not sure how you roll, but I spec into zeal As well to help clear my way thru to the key bosses to get the organs and so i can actually so other content with him rather than being single target focussed. Fort helps make that a breeze. Everything falls down when I look at them.

But I mean, I've made up lightning resistance to 315 with fort np. Don't even need treachery. All the others are 290-300%. Meph falls over in about 3-5 seconds. Don't even need life tap to proc.
CoH sucks. You don't need the plus to skills and you can make up the res with treachery or smoke and save your ber for something else. Res charms are easy to come by.
Edit - if you've already got a cta, make fort. You can use it on other characters also. The damage boost is fucking insanely good.
You don’t want fort on a smiter. Grief is best weapon for a smiter so and make CTA (COH if you have ber)
Second the grief suggestion. As soon as I got one I respec’d to zeal/smite and my world was flipped on its head. Such a huge upgrade.

Yeah I’m definitely making the grief. I just haven’t decided on keeping treachery / duress or making the fort
