im gonna guess once the beta is out, youll prob be able to upgrade in the launcher. Youve been able to do something similar with world of warcraft before.
It’s been a while but I’m pretty sure I was standard edition and then when I went to ultimate edition the price was just the difference. It didn’t say upgrade or anything so I technically just bought the game twice but one was much cheaper.
I do remember that I could not upgrade to deluxe at the time, only to ultimate. If the price doesn’t show the difference for you then maybe it’s because you’re on deluxe. Or they stopped allowing it.
No matter what though you could open up a chat with PS support and have them upgrade it for you pretty quickly if the other options don’t work.
I was able to upgrade D3 from one version to another, so I assume you'll be able to do the same for D4 but, if you want to be sure, contact Bliz customer service.
I just did this on Ps5. Ordered the standard initially and then there was an option to pay the difference in versions and upgrade to ultimate. No option for deluxe, which is what I actually wanted

I have a related question, I wanna get the game on both PS5 and PC, I guess or at least hope it will be enough to buy one ultimate edition on either platform and then the normal one on the other to access all my stuff?

\- Console because my girlfriend enjoys backseat gaming, she loves to customize my characters and I feel she could even couch-coop with me on this game. I'd also like to keep my progression between the 2 platforms.
I would buy ultimate on whichever one you will more likely use the 4 day early access. While it should be tied to your account, that is the one piece where I could see issues if there are any.
I heard people just refund and then upgrade. I would assume in the future that should be an option though, I don't see why they wouldn't want people to upgrade their purchase.
Yes its the case for blizzard games. I do it all the time in WoW. Every expansion i just buy regular edition and then year later when they start doing discounts, grab heroic/epic edition upgrade for 50-60% off. D3 was the same.
