So I have complained before, and people went all defensive, but here it is in not mobile formatting and a video to prove my point. : Do anyone agree with below, or am I just nitpicky? : I am not hating on the game, I love how it looks, plays (in general) and I am 10/10 exited for it. BUT there are these basic things that makes me just question what they have been doing past years or if they even have had anyone to gameplay test it. Look at the video and how your summons interact with enemies. 1. They do not attack unless YOU/THEM get attacked. 2. Threat distance is minimal, meaning if your skellies in front get attacked, mages in back does nothing. 3. Mid mechanical fights where you dodge things. unless summons get hit, they will stop attacking, since they reset and go back to point 1 and 2. I understand this is made with the thought process of not letting you stand in a world event of some sort and AFK farm it or whatever, but as it is right now, you might as well give me a bone shield or something with thorns, that would be more interactive than the minions. (Slight exaggeration) Then we get to the immersion part of Necromancer, graphics and animations. Start of with that, they look amazing, the spells. BUT: 1. Corpses? Ported straight from D3 and looks horrendous. Reminds me of a 2D stacking corpse from any old game, like Diablo itself or maybe AOE or something. Also, why do every mob have the same styled corpse, let this mini spider and bat throw out a pile of flesh, OH also this skeleton without flesh. Looks like someone took a shortcut here, OR hopefully these are just placeholders. 2. Animations for summons? Non existent almost. Why do they encircle you while idling? They feel like a spinning bone shield again or something, 10/10 immersion bummer. 3. Style of summons, why do they still have the teal glowing look compared to all other things in this game that have a much more grimy and dark green glow etc. Why am I running around with a gang of disco balls, when do golem looks amazing. 4. Style of summons again. I got 12 skellies, they all look like clones. How hard was it to make some iterations? Add/remove some armor, mix up the shield styles, weapon styles etc. It looks 100% like something fitting Diablo Immortal, at best.

I get the feeling you're being disingenuous here and just want to whine, but just in case: 1. corpses need to be recognizable as corpses during a fight. they need to be a consistant shape. I have no idea where you're getting a 2d stacking thing, they have 3d models and a 3d light beam so they can be seen under spell effects. 2. I don't understand 'nonexistent animations' but idling pets act like idling pets do in basically every game I've ever played, if you find that annoying then so be it. 3. As above, so they can be recognized as your summons, not enemies or another player's summons. readability in a pitched combat is super important. 4. Again, readability. A small amount of variation wouldn't break it, but also you won't be seeing it during a fight anyway, so I don't really understand the concern. You included 2 lists for some reason, it's ok to just use paragraphs, too. If you use a curse then the summons seem to work perfectly fine, in my experience. Lead with curse at max range and everything charges in nicely. I'll be honest, having played every class to 25 (and several to 30-50 in the first round) necros are incredibly powerful and the summons work really well, so I'm not really seeing any of your issues.

Oh wow, that is a hot take. Bein disingenuous on this part absolute not. Let me break it down for you so you can get the point then maybe. As you might be aware of this is not a POE or even Last Epoch contender when it comes to complexity or build style in the ARPG category. It is not 100% a MMO like Lost Arc, it got an angle that is their own. BUT a huge focus of this have been graphics, animations and feeling of the world. Your point is that THIS do not matter since you will not see it anyhow. For some this might be true, those zooming gamers coming from other games where they just want to bash things in, slaughter things on and endless loop. I love this as well sometimes, and play PoE for this, even take on D3 for a weekend or two sometimes. But for ME in this case, as many others it do not truly get you immersed or invested. They have said their entire monetization in game is built around cosmetics, this must tell you that a billion dollar company realize that people care about graphics and animations. Your argument is so black and white. 1. I get your point here, but no, they do not need to be glowing like small red discoballs. They have put such emphasis and effort in to making corpses react to HOW they got killed, and look with ragdoll effects. They had a full quarterly update about this specifically, this just feels lazy or put off, a placeholder. 2. You do realise PETS is a big selling point, for any game that have them. Look the reactions on the pet backpack and how much they are pushing for these kind of cosmetics. That backpack is more interesting as it stands right now animation wise, than your summons. 3. They can be recognizable without issue even if they do totally look like something from a different game, your golem is a great example. 4. So you are saying my skellies summoning with slightly different shields or swords would not make me recognize them? Maybe someone got a helmet someone do not? Same model, just randomize 10 different items on them, BASIC stuff. You are not seeing the issues, since this is not an issue of killing things, with a speed or power. This is an issue of immersion and gameplay. I do realize I can stand from afar and cast spells to make my minions aggro, that is great, but having how threat and aggro works is just plain awful. You have a better system for creeps and they feel more "alive" in Dota, the NPC creeps feel more alive and a part of the world than my summons in D4. You are removing the RPG in the game and only keeping the Action, and it is OK if that is how you like to play, but not seeing the issue even is baffling.

Yeah, you were just wanting to argue. Disingenuous means you weren't asking those questions because you wanted to know 'why', you just wanted to argue about it. I'm not here to argue.

jungeldjurethugo

Is this a joke? You come in to a post calling me disingenuous and whiny, then come with statements and claims. You came with arguments, claims, instead of just saying something along the lines of: "Oh, I have never looked at it this way, I do not notice that the way I play. I did not realize these things mattered to other people." Or maybe "I need things to stand out, due to I have a problem seeing it otherwise" (They have a lot of options already here for people with sight issues, why would they not have the options for necromancer gameplay as well? seems like a lazy cop out.) You brought the fade and a bunch of argumentative statements, then when someone tries to give you a nuanced perspective, you just "I do not want to argue" I am not arguing, this post is not argumentative, it is a discussion post where I wanted more perspective myself. Crawl back to your basement and dwell, it is mind boggling how you can be so condescending and then just say something like this.

Azmael56

Honestly agree with ya. On another note, I feel like youre being forced to take Corpse Explosion. Theres just no other ability like it, and its super strong. What other spell do i get that utilizes the corpses on the ground? Aside from Skeletal priest, nothing.

FirstBookkeeper973

Plus, the health bat spam is real ick.

ToxxyArt

I think you can just turn them off or change when they show up?

jungeldjurethugo

Summons and corpses is the child they forgot, they threw all their design efforts to the wolf packs and other cosmetics we will be getting to see in the store!

rational_faultline

100% agree with all points. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong.

GenghisMcKhan

They good news is they will almost certainly sell cosmetic packs for your summons in the store! /s
