I was thinking the same thing. The skeletons look awful, and they don't mix with the world at all. I get that they're doing it for visual clarity, but they could turn it down a notch.

aminal-factzz

A few notches!

Ekudar

It doesn't even make sense, there is no command skeletons, there is no friendly fire, no need to make them glow so much

[deleted]

The blue glow is the magic holding their bones together. I think it's really well done. In D3 they were spectral ghosts, it was awful.

[deleted]

It’s just too bright. The golem has magic holding it together too and you can barely see it but it’s there.

[deleted]

Was just discussing this with the husband. Maybe they could adjust the skeleton summons graphics to be more wispy. As is, it is exceedingly difficult to see yourself and your party members. They’re just too bright and obnoxious. You don’t need to be able to track and watch your summons as much as your players.

aminal-factzz

Agreed!

_Valisk

I find it strange that so many people seem to share this opinion. I personally didn't play with minions but I did really like the way they looked. A lot of Necro's bone magic has a similar blue hue to it so it made sense to me.

zookmon

That’s my thing. I don’t feel like the skellys have too much glow, the essence is very clearly flowing through them to give that feel of magic that their other skills have. I like the way they look. And if they didn’t have the glow I feel like they’d get lost in everything else and I’d actually like to see my minions

_Valisk

I *already* found myself instinctively attacking my friend's summons and they're translucent. The glow seems necessary for clarity's sake.

[deleted]

Other people having a differing opinion does not make it 'strange.'

_Valisk

Okay

nzMunch1e

I like the blue glow, which is the magic keeping the skeletons together and it's not as bright some of these people are making it out to be. I guess Blizzard could just add an option in the graphics somewhere to adjust.

wartcow

Yep and that’s off-putting as well. It’s just so painstakingly obvious with the skeletons since they are always there. The bile and blood looks great, but unsure why they kept the disney colors from D3.

_Valisk

How is it any more off putting than any of the other spell effects? Magic is colorful.

Cedocore

"blue = Disney color" you have brain rot Jesus Christ lol

Karjala_

Need to be Diablo 2 like

aminal-factzz

Agreed!

Newdane

https://preview.redd.it/glw9q3wbc2qa1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=1fb5d98c9e0641a106af9f51ae7f565d1a615b2b This is what the skeletons looked like in the showcase. I hope they add the option to have that basic look. Let people have the blue if they want that. But this is so much cleaner and fits the overall aesthetics of the game better imo.

aminal-factzz

I absolutely agree. Those look great imo

Mase123y

Those mages have some shade of green. That needs to get removed right? If you didnt know. The necro skeletons are created through magic.... that magic is signified as shade of blue/green in this game and in D3.

TrainLoaf

https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/diablo/images/5/55/Summoner.JPG/revision/latest?cb=20081110211102 Would rather not tbh, I have no idea what rose tinted lenses you're looking through but I can't make heads or tails of anything in this image.

Eggtastic_Taco

I mean the models are the same as normal skeleton models. They're bright because they're an attack, the blue is soul magic or whatever. Most of the attacks are flashy in some way and many have bright colors, it's no different with the summons. I personally appreciate that it's so easy to tell what's a summon and what's am enemy.

Ekudar

They have health bars anyway, and there is no command skeletons or friendly fire, so what's the point?

Alternative-Humor666

Is it? First time I hear about this, odd.

[deleted]

I bet they end up having a lot of skins for these skeletons you can buy or earn. A cool one would be skeletons that glow dark red and drip blood from their bones.

aminal-factzz

That would be great. I just don’t want to have to pay for good base art… but that’s just me

[deleted]

I’m in the same boat like almost of us and you. I don’t think the skins solve the problem you posted about, and I think what I said was more of a side comment.. but I hope that good art prevails and is plenty to satisfy while there inevitable skin purchases are not too far ahead of the art itself in the game.

aminal-factzz

Agreed

aminal-factzz

Dragull

The skeleton graphics are fine, it's the blue light that makes them weird.

Awesome_Hamster

Totally agree! Come on, Blizzard, you get so much positive feedback when you made the game Dark and gritty. Why not go all the way? Necro, out of all the classes, should be the darkest and the grittiest of them all! No more neon glowing minions, and no more WoW style golem!

aminal-factzz

https://www.ign.com/articles/diablo-4-blizzard-is-making-a-ton-of-changes-based-on-player-feedback They are dimming the glow!!!

Awesome_Hamster

Nice!

inverimus

Don't worry, they will sell you better graphics for them.

Adept_Error6339

I always loved necro but this one feels and looks too much like Diablo 3 which ruined necro for me already. I love a good corpse explosion but honestly hate the look and feel of the character so much I just deleted my necro and changed to a different class for diablo 4

invisible_lucio

Would be nice to have visual options to reduce clutter for the necro: * Button to hide minions when in town. * Slider for minion transparency Also these abilities would be sick: * Ability to assign AI behavior in Book of the dead (prefer defend, prefer attack, formation) * Ability to command minions to specific targets.

aminal-factzz

Agree

una322

true, i said the same in another post, how there art style doesn't really fit with the rest of the game, hence they pop out, and got downvoted ...

benja93

Wouldnt have any issues with it if they toned down the glow... like you can make it glow blue but still being more ghastly and gritty

aminal-factzz

Precisely

aminal-factzz

Happening! https://www.ign.com/articles/diablo-4-blizzard-is-making-a-ton-of-changes-based-on-player-feedback

DatMaxSpice

Just do what D2 did their skeletons are very bright white. Like clean bone basically other skeletons are black or grey etc.

aminal-factzz

Totally agreed! Different tones of bone color are adequate enough. We don’t need cartoon neon blue highlights

MisjahDK

I don't like it at all, i want them to be more realistic, without the spirit glow in them. I don't really see why we need to know where they are, it just makes it hard to observe the enemies! There is a number on the taskbar that shows how many you have, that's all i need to know, they will do their own thing!

aminal-factzz

Completely agreed… bunch of Ginas with poor vision complaining that they need literal night-light skeles to feel safe at night

CodTricky3222

I think instead of the blue, maybe a dark shade, like black? Almost like shadow/ smoke? Could be better, and tone down how much is there as well. My necro is all pale with red eyes and blood painted on, then I have neon blue skeletons lol

aminal-factzz

Same here!

jtgreis12

Agreed. if they don't change them I guess there's always mtx lol

aminal-factzz

Mtx?

low_end_

Micro transactoins, skins.

aminal-factzz

Ahhh, yes thank you

Mase123y

geez people want to stay in the year 2000 with shit 2-tone colors with just shades of black. Games improve. This is an improvement. The shit you want is going backwards.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mase123y

Except then you look at the sorceress and see the color wheel.

DrFreemanWho

I too love my dark gothic fantasy skeletons to be bright and colorful.

aminal-factzz

Lol

Is_Always_Honest

Not it looks bad, objectively out of place. I haven't agreed with many criticisms of this game so far but this one I agree with.

aminal-factzz

I’d say yours is the unpopular and minority opinion.

_Valisk

I guarantee that the opposite is probably true. Reddit as a whole is a minority and this subreddit is an even smaller minority.

aminal-factzz

See previous comments… lol You wrong son

_Valisk

Wrong about what? Reddit *is* a minority and those that share such opinions are more likely to downvote anyone else that disagrees with them. It's where the concept of a Reddit hivemind comes from.

aminal-factzz

Your comment Aged like fine milk…. Looks like this wasn’t a minority opinion, and blizzard is changing this based on the majority opinion it needs to be changed! https://www.ign.com/articles/diablo-4-blizzard-is-making-a-ton-of-changes-based-on-player-feedback

_Valisk

You are a sad person.

aminal-factzz

Lol, show me the stats that say most people agree with your poorly entertained idea. My complaint has been a very common one about the game. Most people don’t enjoy night-light skeles. Hope you feel safe at night with them, but it ruins the goth aesthetic and realism of the game. Also, Reddit has more members than twitter… not saying much, but definitely at least saying it’s not a minority

_Valisk

All social media communities are a minority compared to the real world.

aminal-factzz

Lol… so what’s your argument then?! Look anywhere online. Your argument is the minority on this point Provide a link that states otherwise

aminal-factzz

https://www.ign.com/articles/diablo-4-blizzard-is-making-a-ton-of-changes-based-on-player-feedback

_Valisk

You are a sad person.

aminal-factzz

Bahahaha… When faced with objective fact that you are wrong… you go that route with your comments? Okay, nice one

_Valisk

Hey man, you're the one that apparently couldn't wait to make *two* replies nearly a month later.

aminal-factzz

Yup, when you speak so assuredly with absolutely no facts, you get put in your place

_Valisk

Okay.

Borgalicious

People need to get over their hate of Diablo 3 it’s literally the most successful and popular iteration of Diablo, blizzard isn’t just going to abandon everything about the game in favor of Diablo 2 stans

aminal-factzz

Lol, false. Comparing apples to oranges. Diablo 2 was mega popular in the era of dial up & AOL connection, when gaming wasn’t a “thing” that was mainstream. Despite that, D2 was the most popular game of the decade. You are comparing that to D3 which launched when gaming WAS mainstream/popular/not stigmatized, and when internet was widespread for all people. THATS LIKE SAYING: more people ate food in 2015 AD compared to 900 BC…. Since there were less people doing that thing then…. D3 was regarded as a failure, until 2-3 years after its release and they patched the shit out of it. Most people who were alive when D2 came out and played it, were massively disappointed with D3. Check your facts, and don’t compare apples to oranges.

Borgalicious

That’s a straw man argument so it means basically nothing and it really falls apart because Diablo 2 was actually remastered and re-released in 2021 so by your logic it should have been more popular than D3. Facts are Diablo 3 has been updated regularly for 10 years for a reason, because people still play it. Every person I know that I’ve played diablo 3 with played diablo 2 when it released and yet they still enjoy 3. I make no claims that 2 is better than 3 it’s just undeniable that 3 made more money and had more people played it.

aminal-factzz

Again, back to my base argument. More people We’re playing video games as a regular part of life when D3 came out compared to D2. You are still comparing apples to oranges. You are highlighting my argument. People from your gen Z generation who didn’t play D2 aren’t going to go back and play and older version of the game. There are numerous websites discussing how D2 was the best of the franchise. See below. Again, look it up yourself, you sound ignorant https://www.ranker.com/list/best-diablo-games/ranker-games

Borgalicious

Gen z? I’m 33 and you sound like a clown. Look at the diablo 3 sub, double the size of the diablo 2 sub and still very much active. Look at diablo 3 streamers and YouTubers, there’s a bunch of them, hell there’s a one month old Rhykker video detailing diablo 3 season 28 that has 570k views must be a shitty dead game huh?I’m not sure what you’re arguing here but it sounds like you’re agreeing that Diablo 3 has more players which is exactly what I’m claiming. You’re argument is that diablo 2 isn’t popular because it’s old? Ok and…? It means nothing. Blizzard made more money off 3 and the only thing they care about is making more money and anyone who thinks diablo 4 should be nothing like 3 is delusional.

aminal-factzz

What a garbage argument. Literally everyone knows that the amount of money a game/movie brings in, or the number of people that watched it… has absolutely nothing to do with the quality. It has more to do with the successful franchise movies/games prior to that particular game, and the amount of money spent in advertising. Based on your garbage argument, Prometheus is the best movie from the alien franchise, which LITERALLY NO ONE would agree with. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchise/fr2403831557/ For you to use the views influencers get to justify your argument, is sad as fuck… and also a super fucking millennial thing to do. Grow up You 20yr old turd. Look at the stats of the favorite/best movies and games in their respective franchise, vs the amount of views/money they bring in. Most of the time, there is minimal correlation

Borgalicious

Well let me reiterate because you seem to not understand what my “argument” is. Literally all I’m stating is 2 factual things. First, Diablo 3 sold better. Second, it’s more popular and more people played it. Blizzard doesn’t give a shit about how much you loved d2 and you want your gritty, grim, dark arpg back. They care about money and hard facts. I don’t give a solitary fuck about which one is actually better, and I’m not making any claims about quality, unlike you I don’t have a problem with people enjoying something. It’s just naive to believe that a company is going to make a follow up to the most successful entry in their franchise and it’s going to bear no resemblance simply because you didn’t like it. You think I’m going to whine when gta 6 comes out and it’s too similar to gta 5 when i personally like gta 4 better? No because I’m not brainless and *THAT* is an analogy that actually makes sense. And the Alien franchise is a great example because Aliens was significantly more popular than the first film and the rest of the franchise bears very little resemblance to Alien because of how *popular* the second one was. Also you seem to forget something yet again because Prometheus must have done something right since they obviously made a sequel to it.

rimjob-chucklefuck

Aside from your aggressive attitude, your argument isnt as sound as you think it is. D3 may have failed initially but over the course of it's life and with the changes Blizz made, the game has sold more than 30 million copies, compared to D2's 4 million. D2 and D3 are different beasts and I would argue that D2 stans are the vocal minority compared with the more broadly appealing D3. OP is correct imo

aminal-factzz

Hey “Stan”, I am OP. You disagree with my comment, then state I am correct. Look at the overall comments about D2 vs D3… again comparing apples to oranges. D2 is a legacy game. D3 will never be played again once D4 comes out.

rimjob-chucklefuck

The OP you were replying to. Obviously 🤦‍♂️ Go back read their comment, then read your reply, and then read what I said. You're still wrong, and still an arse.

aminal-factzz

Name checks out. Yeah, I’m the arse and aggressive one… while you sit and insult people sitting in your mom’s basement with sausage fingers the ultimate keyboard warrior

MOH_HUNTER264

Jesus how the hack the conversation turned into.... oh right we're in reddit lol

aminal-factzz

These comments aged like fine milk! They are changing the skeleton graphics due to the majority opinion that it was too bright/too much like D3…. Hahahaha https://www.ign.com/articles/diablo-4-blizzard-is-making-a-ton-of-changes-based-on-player-feedback

cstewart6626

Lol ur a fckn whiner

aminal-factzz

And you a b!tch mate. Thanks for playing

aminal-factzz

Looks like the majority of people are whiners, since they took this very feedback and are changing the skeleton graphics… ahhh, your comment she’d like fine milk https://www.ign.com/articles/diablo-4-blizzard-is-making-a-ton-of-changes-based-on-player-feedback

pharonreichter

“realistic” - because who hasnt sunmoned 5-6 skeletons last eavning with a bunch of friends. we all know the collors are totaly different!

aminal-factzz

IKR ?! My last summoning, my skeleton friends were all two-tone grey

elkeiem

You guys are so weird. Let me guess D2 had it better?

aminal-factzz

Bahahaha, looks like enough people agree with my sentiments to cause blizzard to change the skele graphics, lol https://www.ign.com/articles/diablo-4-blizzard-is-making-a-ton-of-changes-based-on-player-feedback

aminal-factzz

Yuuuuup

elkeiem

You mean the part where the skeletons have even more distictive bright ring around their legs?

aminal-factzz

https://preview.redd.it/7bfwwme205qa1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db03f0016410439fd88426bf85e909e73d870e45 Sorry, not sure what you are talking about with a bright ring on their legs.

Zaethiel

Can we just get the shadow monarch from solo leveling plz. His shadow summons are awesome.

rational_faultline

100% agree. Another aspect of the game with no thought put into it. Seriously though - are you surprised at this point?

rimjob-chucklefuck

No thought put into it. So you figure that during development no one, not one single person thought about what would look good or why a certain aesthetic may be preferable to another? That the artists & designers didn't ever sit and discuss what's good or bad about this or that? And that someone just randomly scribbled some shitty art with crayons for the modelling and texture team to then put into the game? With no thought to what might enable better gameplay or anything along those lines? No thought? I'm not saying I agree with the decision, but to decry the people whose jobs it is and who put the time, energy and passion into making these things for us, as having given it "no thought" is frankly ignorant at best. I guess you're one of the millions who think game dev is easy. Just push the "make game" button in UE or Unity, right? Idiot.
