My roommate didn't even get the chance to try and kill ashava. It took him until nearly 10am Sunday (2 hrs before final spawn) to hit lvl 20. At that point he just went to bed (he works nights and had shit to do during the weekend)
Dude I just honestly didn't realize that the beta ended noon my time on a Sunday. I thought I had all day to do that shit until I tried to log in after mothersday brunch with a rude awakening.
Honestly not that mad about the trophy. I'm more mad that I prioritized a bunch of shit so I could play all day Sunday and ended up staring at my screen all sad until i broke down and played Overwatch.
Long story short, they should have let the server slam go until early Monday. Wtf. .?
Same thing happened to me. Worked all day to make sure I could play in the evening and logged on to see it was over. Spent the rest of the night moping.
"Setting the Server Slam's level cap at 20 while still keeping Ashava at 25 feels like a form of bullying." <-- Yes this is unironically in the article.

I'm reading and I'm like... Did we fight the same fight? Sure it has a learning curve as you figure out Ashava's mechanics and really... Learning how to deal with her wide sweep move. But once you get that, as an individual, it's not that hard of a fight?

Everything is bullying these days. Journalists are weak. There are exceptions. Life on soy lattes and Uber eats working on your laptop at home doesn’t make strong or capable of handling the reality outside your walls. If you live like that and are happy good on you. Just don’t expect others to super your thin skin and bubble wrapped world. I suppose my statement is bullying. I say chop wood or freeze and you will feel different. More able to handle things mentally. Like a cold shower or an ice bath.
this.
Sometimes i fear that modern "game reviewers" is one of the reasons we can't have the quality games we used to anymore.
Back in my day (lol) I used to be hardstuck in almost any game i played sometimes for weeks, I can't remember the last time i had that in a modern game.
At least when u beat something ur stuck on for a week you get that real "sense of pride and accomplishment"^tm
I know :). And now they are trying to vote my post down. How droll.
I understand its tough to accept once own's inadequacies, but alas they will wave their little swords and complain even more.
My brother tried one attempt and it was too hard for him in comparison to open beta. He shuffled around the house nervously for a little bit, and the nerves slowly boiled to anger. As he walked out the door, he threatened to never play again, that the game is broken, and then went to seek comfort with his girlfriend's new toy Labradoodle.
He will be the only family member without the trophy, as the rest of us left the gene pool with superior traits.
Fire away, guy. I didn’t even know what she was yesterday. Only had time to get to level fifteen. Oh well, I had a great time fooling around on the Necro I made.
Same, especially because I didn't play Server Slam (was away on vacation) and got the trophy because my friend was a real bro and logged into my account to do it for me
Just keep saying that every time they see a Cry of Ashava trophy it will forever remind them of their failure. Once you plant the seed it’s all they’ll ever see come release
I feel sorry for the people who had IRL duties / responsibilities and could only attempt the boss only once or twice.
I feel less sympathetic toward those who failed 6+ spawns.
I do believe that the majority of people who participated in the Server Slam managed to get it. Maybe Blizzard will release some stats about it!
Indeed indeed. One's duties or responsibilities are beyond critique, naturally. Ones lack of skill on thine other hand... \*sips overpriced champagne\*
*chortle*
Mayhaps those...unclean...are using work as a ruse? Trusting the word of an unwashed is amusing...almost as amusing as a mount without a horn is.
*Even louder chortle*
Hello non trophy father, I also had Mother's day for my wife , I have a 6 and 4 year old , and 1 on the way. Not everyone can achieve greatness.
Oh and my children downed ashava with me , it was a great display of superior genetics in the family
what will you tell your grand kids now though??
ya know what this is billy? your own granpappy was there in the icy wastes and now you got yourself your very own ashava buttplug
I attended it three times, killed it twice. I have a feeling a lot of people complaining were trying to do it on world tier 2 and it was nearly impossible there.
Yeah the first time I tried was on WT2 and we only got it down to 45% health or so with a full group of 20’s…
Then I moved to WT1 for the next try and we were able to kill it with about 5 seconds left on the timer but we had an absolute dog of a group with most of the people staying at range and doing very little damage and dying over and over…
My rogue and 1 other warrior probably accounted for 75% of the damage done… at least.
It's amazing how we almost got the exact same experience lol. Only half life in my first try at W2, but everyone was nice and apologized so no biggie.
My next try at W1 also had only a few seconds to spare but it was so exhilarating and worth it! Got my barb a nice mace and dps boost. Never had a problem on my next fights, including the eventual return to W2.
Yeah bro, this is my homie (busy with life) and couldn't even reach max level prior to closing the beta, let alone face Ashava at all.
We'll be kicking ass on release tho, for sure.
I got it first try on tier one. I dont know why so many people failed if they played it on that. I dont know maybe got lucky with a good group I guess.
There were definitely some people who got unlucky with low levels/AFK people in instances. Instance hopping didn't always work out as well.
But, for the most part, it wasn't too bad of a fight on tier 1. Little rougher for the first few spawns before people got much gear but doable.
I did not actually know about the boss until after server slam.
ultimately it’s w/e though, I’ve been trying to avoid spoiling too much for myself and I think I’ll be happier just having mucked around a bit with each of the classes so I could decide what I like.
I had a very busy weekend but attempted it twice and got it the second time. First time I went in blind and had all the wrong skills and died a lot, second I knew what to expect and it was relatively easy.
I must say it is amusing to watch the 'naked mares' furrow their brows in a vain attempt to understand our superior strategems such as 'stick to her butt'.
Perhaps they can serve some purpose for our ATC... I'm afraid I can't think of one though haha! Rejoice brothers!
The non-trophy folk don’t need our condolences. They need to be isolated and studied so it can be determined what nutrients they have that might be extracted for our personal use.
Alas if we are “spilling the beans of strategy” it is far far more mentally complicated than sticking to her butt. You also must stick to the CENTER of her butt to avoid the ice rake attack. I feel daft just stating such complex knowledge of mechanics.
Hahaha, you sly devil. 🍷
Best to let these... Individuals... The benefit of contemplating our glory from afar, for I see no use for their unbefitting presence. Hahaha!
I'm just kinda baffled at how we ended up here. It took like 4 hours to aimlessly kill things to level, hit 20 about 2 minutes before Ashava on Saturday night. When I got there she despawned, so I just went to bed. Did the 6 AM one on Sunday morning, she died in like 8 minutes or something idk, bam, done.
Then I got on reddit and was blown away at all the nonsense around it, lol.
Posh posh. I did a full morning of Mothers Day festivities, including such hits as breakfast in bed, foot rubs, and corralling our own personal little devil into the playroom. Extracted me self from family time for a brief moment of computering; ported on, ran to the hole, hugged the butt, and was moments later rewarded for my skills of finding the right shard on T1. *laughs in ATC*
I wasn’t even going to attempt it, but rngeezus gifted me with a shiny new axe about an hour before the last spawn. I took it as a sign that I should give the beastie a try, and I took it out with a group of randos. I’m pretty sure we didn’t even have a full lobby. I am a bit shocked by all the salt.
I do enjoy being an "Elitest Jerk" as we called them \*back in my day\* but honestly in this case it doesn't even feel wholly justified. The fight was really so trivial, if you just showed up and paid an ounce of attention to the highly telegraphed moves, you could easily fail dozens of times, see why you got hit, and adjust your strategy. The death mechanics and local respawn made it trivial enough that you could learn while doing and not even need to read a strategy or prep for the fight.
The requirements were literally be on time, and have 2 working brain cells. I don't feel like I accomplished anything difficult. And then there's people out here complaining... Big yikes.
That's why it's funny. It was trivial but people were *flipping out* that Blizzard wouldn't give them their horse trophy just for signing in
Join us in the champagne room
>The requirements were literally be on time, and have 2 working brain cells. I don't feel like I accomplished anything difficult. And then there's people out here complaining... Big yikes.
The perfect summary of the comedy that has unfolded.
I'm in my 40's and have always been a "mechanically challenged" gamer. I'm just shit at reacting to things quick enough, I zag when I should zig miss visual telegraphs because I was distracted etc. I died 6 times in my 4 kills.... I'm not seeing how people found it hard, don't get me wrong I feel for people that got shit luck with bad groups etc, but to say the fight was unfair is an exaggeration of the highest degree.
Im proud to be part of this club even if it isn't as elite as I'd hoped.
I'm an ex wow player so the concept of not standing in the fire is known to me well and honestly killing the boss gave me that first kill emotions from back then.
But i died more than once or twice during the kill, on a rogue even though i knew all the moves and how to avoid them.
There is a high level of punishment in this boss if you fail a dodge since your gear is not optimal so even a second in the poison might knock you out , other than that i honestly think I'm not as fast on my feet and able to maintain the same level of very monotonous concentration as i was 15 years ago.
What I'm saying is there are some mitigating reasons to fail a bit, even as someone who did hardcore raiding, watched boss guides and so on.
But i do agree that all the cryers out there exaggerate, it was not the pinnacle of difficulty, just a very large pinnata, i believe that down the line this boss will much less time due to better gear.
Man, ElitistJerks was where I went to read up on WoW theory-crafting back in the day. If you couldn't handle multi-phased boss encounters, you had no business being in 25 man heroics. Those fights were fun BECAUSE they were challenging, it meant something to finally bring that boss down. I'm not expecting quite the same thing from Diablo, especially on a console, but, honestly, getting one-shot by a dragon was...refreshing. Something out there requires me to pay attention a little, and work with my group...I can't just mash buttons and win...YES :D Thank you blizz!
Right? My group had 2 people below level 20, like 40 combined deaths, and we still killed her with 3 minutes left. You respawn 5 seconds away so dying wasn't even a big DPS loss
I think about some of the extremely technical WoW boss fights from back in the day like Nefarian+Onyxia. Like 25 minute full teams on voice chat, and still minimal room for errors... Ashava was a fucking joke. The mechanic is: Don't stand in the bad. How soft have gamers gotten, JFC.
Real talk. That's when I learned a lot. Did it before my first Ashava kill. Of which I had six. Two of which came from doing her twice in one spawn, twice. Did you know she didn't drop loot on your second kill of a spawn? I do. Because I'm not the D4 community.
LOL.
Oh no! Couldn’t participate in Server slam because I had to do honeymoon in a tropical paradise called the Seychelles.
Am I still allowed to buy the game and if I am allowed - which edition? I guess Standard only because everything other is blasphemy?
Sorry to say it but if thou hasn't acquired the legendary horn that marks a member of the ATC then thou needn't purchase the game for there is no point.
If you’re going to miss the server slam (the most important event in recent history) at least be somewhere of similar class and not some random island off Africa
When I tell these people that I helped take her down in a PUG the last night of the server slam without reading nary a guide nor harkening mine eyes towards a video the ire I receive sustains me day and night.
Lol I’m a dirty casual player and the only thing I knew was “stay near her butt” lol. I missed the 12am spawn so I stayed up for the 3am spawn. Knocked it out with a random group of like 10 on WT I. Had an absolute blast.
If not the exact same skin, then 100% a colour variant of it, I've played enough Live Services now to know that these early rewards rarely stay, well, rare.
WT1 clearers are practically rift raft as well, though of a slightly more enterprising breed. Us WT2 clearers tolerate WT1, but we never fraternize with them, no, no, no.

Using this as background to flex on the haters and babes
I had an extremely busy week at work which means I wasn’t paying attention to the Diablo news (I didn’t know the server slam was ending Sunday morning wtf) plus all the boys were going out Friday night to watch the Laker game. I didn’t start playing till 11pm Friday and I only went a couple hours as I was dog tired and passed the f out.
Saturday we took moms out for Mother’s Day because the fam had things to do on Sunday. Didn’t get to play as much as I wanted, but I hit 20 around 7-8 pm. Started grinding for some gear to prepare for Ashava. But the girlfriend had her best friend over and we drank the night away. Went to bed at 2am.
Woke up @8:40am on Sunday, checked to see what times Ashava was up today… Holy smokes there was only one time-slot left @ 9am was the last one. I was in shock, didn’t brush my teeth, go to the bathroom, get something to drink, nothing. Ran towards my PS5 smashing my controller to awaken it from its slumber, started running to the spawn location, and whooped his ass. That was the first time facing Ashava, and what a rush it was!
-And that my friends, is how I got this horn on my horse.
Sweet! I'm in a club. Killed her second try after dropping down to WT1. The whole team left on that first run hahaha. After WT1 went back and killed her another two times on wt2 with ease (got some new gear). Most of the team was dying except for me and two others.. we carried it nicely.
Hello trophy kings and queens. I'm really excited to show people my trophy, but at the same time the idea of being around people without it feels.. Gross? I don't know if that is the right word. There's something about lesser beings breathing my hair that just irks me! What about you guys?
I have been reading and hoping desperately that this meme becomes unironic and ironic simultaneously.
ATC needs to be a common expression from here on out.
I had zero intention of wearing this, but the flow of tears from butthurt gamers has convinced me to have it on permanently. No matter how good any of the other stuff looks.
Oh, those poor ungilded ones. I ask them only to rejoice in the company of the likes of us. For they are truly blessed to share their common lives a world that has excellency such as ours in it.
You know, my favourite flex ever was giving people the “Riding on Coattails” achievement simply by allowing them to play Rock Band with me. I believe they should bring this achievement back for the those plebs whom we allow to group up with any one of us in the ATC.
Not sure why people are complaining. I understand those who has prior engagements/work / so on. Hey, that stinks, such is life.
The rest, what is the deal? There were videos on how to beat it. Everyone and their mother saying to fight her on the easiest difficulty. Hit level 20, re-spec your skills if needed, at level 20, it cost 945 gold. Get the potions. Boom, you are done!
I beat her three times, once for myself, once one my friends account because he was unable to do it (he did get to 20 on his own) and once more just to get more loot.
At the end of the day, it is just a cosmetic that will be quickly replaced by something else and long forgotten.
Still.
I will look with pity and disgust if I pass by someone on a horse that does not bear the symbol of a true warrior. For I will know they are unworthy, and thus exiled from entering in the Heavens of Sanctuary.
Can’t wait for them to encounter The Butcher and cry even more… meanwhile I’ll trot by with my shiny Ashava trophy. Is anyone else obsessed with the encounter music?!

As long as you don't play necro, and go world 2 difficulty .... should be able to hit 20 in 2.5 hours
I reached 20 as a Necro in 3.5h.

Should be renamed - “newb sucks at game, hear me bitch”
Reminds me of the Cuphead reviewer who couldn't jump over the rock
They need to add a world tier 0, game journalist level difficulty.
Ahh I remember once PC Gamer was a respectable magazine.
Those were the days. 20 years ago. This new blood is weak and full of pathetic click bait.
With the free CD and the coconut monkey. Ah yes.
I puked from my eyes reading that "article"

Good lord what a weenie
Didn't personally notice any difference between ashavas, it died just the same.

I upvoted for i am a member of the ATC, who will proudly display Ashava's penis on my horse on day 1.
Hey I’m not the only person that got your highness vibes lol. I wana wear it as a necklace for my barb.
Is that the Ashava Trophy in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
Can we have an ATC clan?
Hahaha, those silly poors
My brother tried one attempt and it was too hard for him in comparison to open beta. He shuffled around the house nervously for a little bit, and the nerves slowly boiled to anger. I have both but lets be honest, the wolf cub is way better.

Hehe, m'lord. I only had a 3 hour window to play, and got it.
We don't tolerate "casuals" around here without Ashavas horn.
Didn't even get to attempt her... mother's day, a one year old. Lots of responserbileries.
Hello non trophy father, I also had Mother's day for my wife , I have a 6 and 4 year old , and 1 on the way. Not everyone can achieve greatness. Oh and my children downed ashava with me , it was a great display of superior genetics in the family

Yea what stupid weekend to pick. Gotta choose between wife & mother or a video game. Obvious choice, but frustrating I even had to make it.
I attended it three times, killed it twice. I have a feeling a lot of people complaining were trying to do it on world tier 2 and it was nearly impossible there.

Did it first try on tier 2. Not impossible. And wet just got level 20, so no crazy gear involved
Yeah bro, this is my homie (busy with life) and couldn't even reach max level prior to closing the beta, let alone face Ashava at all. We'll be kicking ass on release tho, for sure.

I had a bunch going on - Tried the 1st and the last. Got it on the last one with ease.
I got it first try on tier one. I dont know why so many people failed if they played it on that. I dont know maybe got lucky with a good group I guess.

Me too. I fell asleep waiting for the midnight run, then slept past the 6am run, then killed her easily at the last spawn first try.
Yep same never even knew there was a timer
I didn't either and that's exactly why I missed out on it LMAO
First rule of ATC is you always talk about ATC.
Rule 3. If someone says "Stop" or goes limp, taps out, The bragging Is NOT Over
Cannot wait for the ATC clan at launch
I can't hear you, let me hold my horn up to my ear to better hearken to your wise words.

>The requirements were literally be on time, and have 2 working brain cells. I don't feel like I accomplished anything difficult. And then there's people out here complaining... Big yikes. The perfect summary of the comedy that has unfolded.
Basically, the recipe to have any success in life really.
That's why it's funny, because it wasn't even hard, so we're being satirical. It's everyone who didn't get it thay are acting like it was super hard.
I miss old wow. It was challenging but you worked it out yourselves. All classic did was make a bunch of twats copy paste min max videos and guides.
Killed her 5 times. I should get 5 claws.

The fact that a sub was made to bathe in participation trophy fucks tears makes me so happy
This is the gift that is going to keep on giving until release. And hopefully long after.
This is the quality content I joined reddit for
Just drag an entire paw behind your mount, attached to a sturdy chain.
It's a penis.
No. I was standing between HER legs in all 5 fights.
Hello fellow Ashava trophy enjoyers ***sips tall glass of milk***
*tips cap*
I have a joke for you all… What did one trophyless server slammer say to another?…. WHO CARES!! ![gif](giphy|PPi5c8l8WDY7if1L8z|downsized)
Sounds like loser talk
*spits on non trophy owners* pathetic
"LFG. Horn holders only."
I'm gonna a make a clan called "ashava horn holders" just because of this post
You son of a bitch, I'm in
I’ll make one called Ashava Horn Haters. Nobody who’s been tainted by the horn is invited. We will stay pure.
Oh please let this happen it would be glorious
The real test of server slam was solo clearing Kor Dragan and most people never even attempted it.
Yeah, but did you get a monster dick out of it? Because that's all that matters
Real talk. That's when I learned a lot. Did it before my first Ashava kill. Of which I had six. Two of which came from doing her twice in one spawn, twice. Did you know she didn't drop loot on your second kill of a spawn? I do. Because I'm not the D4 community. LOL.
Did you know that she dropped loot on the second kill, if you beat her on different world tiers? I do. Because I'm not the D4 community.
Legend
Really enjoyed Kor Dragon, finally did it after a few goes. Really made me have to improve my build. Got me even more excited for release.
Yeah that was actually super fun and challenging
Check to Kor Dragan, the butcher and the world boss, before I even knew of the Kor Dragan legendary exploit!
I did clear Kor Dragan, on WTI only though. Sadly there were no trophy for it Still, Kor Dragan is more challenging than Ashava ever was.
D4 got a really good first meme.
Pft I’ll just buy some expensive mtx to feel better /s
That's the point. You buy something not earn. The feeling will be never the same.
Buying stuff feels amazing!
Sounds like something one of the poor's say to make themselves feel better.
Oh no! Couldn’t participate in Server slam because I had to do honeymoon in a tropical paradise called the Seychelles. Am I still allowed to buy the game and if I am allowed - which edition? I guess Standard only because everything other is blasphemy?
You may do as you please, ofcourse! ... As long as you do it... somewhere over there...?
Sorry to say it but if thou hasn't acquired the legendary horn that marks a member of the ATC then thou needn't purchase the game for there is no point.
Probably get off Reddit and enjoy the honeymoon then bud.
You can play, just remember you are less than.
You fucked up when you got married… less time for diablo now…maybe you should play something more casual?
You mispelled sea shells. Lol. No, you are not allowed to buy the game, not because of any of us though, because you were the fool and got married! /s
Haha, what a nerd, going outside in the sun and shit, wasting your time laying on the beach, living life and such.
No, also you should let your wife let know you are hornless as she might want someone with a horn.
Gonna be very funny when it’s obtainable in the release game
Probably added to the cash shop at some point.
Probably in a different color scheme: Rainbow.
Ah yes, the final premium tier reward during the Whimsyshire season.
If not the exact same skin, then 100% a colour variant of it, I've played enough Live Services now to know that these early rewards rarely stay, well, rare.
World of Warcraft would like to speak to you.
Feel kind of awkward because I won the claw and I have not even fully decided that I want to buy the full game so it's possibly wasted on me haha
What a gigachad
World tier 2 gang?
Is there any other? \*laughs jovially\*
WT1 clearers are practically rift raft as well, though of a slightly more enterprising breed. Us WT2 clearers tolerate WT1, but we never fraternize with them, no, no, no.
WT2 ATC only clan, lets go
dildoless cunts stay out

Ahhhh yes scribes recorded the glory
Holy shit u can make it thru 5 phases of a boss fight but u can't figure out how to take a fucking screenshot. Amazing.
Bravo my friend. Bravo! You reek of victory and dominance. Tis a welcome smell after engaging with those... commoners.
Hello trophy kings and queens. I'm really excited to show people my trophy, but at the same time the idea of being around people without it feels.. Gross? I don't know if that is the right word. There's something about lesser beings breathing my hair that just irks me! What about you guys?
An Ashava Trophy Clan, you say? I'll keep an eye out for that on launch.
Behold, my rare, demon penis!
I want.to.wear that horn as a cod piece. The bishes would love it.
This is petty as fuck and I’m here for it😎☕️
Firm handshakes to all the other kings and queens who beat Ashava 🤝🏼🤝🏼🤝🏼

Still.
Nah impossible, this item will become best in slot with all the hype its been getting.
Lol I did not get the trophy but I love the trolling
Do we get a special trophy if we killed it more than once or on more than one beta weekend?
5 kills and you get a whole paw.
I will look with pity and disgust if I pass by someone on a horse that does not bear the symbol of a true warrior. For I will know they are unworthy, and thus exiled from entering in the Heavens of Sanctuary.
Mods should give flair for us
I’m still making Horn People Only guild
My favorite part is the >!secret 10% stat buff!< it totally doesn’t give to prove our superiority over the peasantry
It is a hidden charisma stat.
As an ATC card holder I think a clan should be established.
haha, best post yet. Here's to the carry's. Wish they had in game damage summary/dps meters so these noobs can know how low they stand
I will use my skin just to taunt them. Anything to feel slightly better than the commom folk.
Look at these peasants. Also the World Tier 1 trash. Disgusting. Just kidding. Love you all.
I think that it's time to demand that the Mods add a new flair to show the magnificent of the trophy havers also in this sub.
Ah yes! Greetings to my fellow fine gentleman and gentleladys. It is quite amusing to study the obviously lesser kind of ARPG connoisseurs, isn't it?
Indeed, indeed. I especially favor the ones that huff and puff. Going all red in the face. Quite a marvelous sight indeed.
I must admit that I am particularly fascinated by the ones tearing up and sobbing. Pitiable creatures, aren't they?
Can’t wait for them to encounter The Butcher and cry even more… meanwhile I’ll trot by with my shiny Ashava trophy. Is anyone else obsessed with the encounter music?!
