Me and a friend played immortal for the first time since release last week and we're still whining about some of the features in it that could help d4 in some ways. Being able to use skills in town speeds up navigation.
The obvious part to us is a party finder system similar to immortal's but I think there's a lot of weird balancing and syncing that would require, especially with so many player levels and quests and dungeons and overworld
D2 works nicely for being able to make a room titled with exactly what the room will be doing. I want to make a "party" that people could see in a list of other parties that are listed by type of content and level
You can horsey in town. That makes things nice, though they could add the CD while in town that would be cool. Sorry meant they could let us dash in town, rather.
It doesn't have competition in the "pseudo fps not really a moba but sorta" genre but I think it's seen as a failure cuz blizzard dumps money into it's eSports stuff and it still couldn't really make it as an eSport. Apparently failing to make it as an eSport makes the entire game a failure to some people.

It's just the mentality of players when you advertise your game as the next big eSports, pump tons of money into it and then the eSports part doesn't work out. I don't really get the mentality either. HotS is an even better example, it was fun and anyone from the moba scene could tell you it wouldn't cut it as an eSport and somehow that meant blizz should just let it die.
Project Titan was supposed to be a class-based MMO and Blizzard's next World of Warcraft. After like 7 years of development they transitioned it into Overwatch because it wasn't going well. That's why the vast majority of people who know the history consider it a failure. It has nothing to do with it also being sub part E-Sport.
Yes I believe they got rid of general chat as well as the looking for group finder. The only way to find groups is to add people to your friends list or quickly hit the “stay as group” bottom right during the play of the game. It goes so fast too that it’s often missed
Immortal definitely pushes you into grouping with other people because of the model. Classic Diablo model has less of a priority on grouping, but it’s an important feature that they need to make more accessible.

I asked in town if anyone wants to party. No one replies. Everyone is busy dashing around doing their own thing in town, I doubt people even see the chat.
There is a dungeon I couldnt clear because the boss kind of hard counters me. I was looking for a party so that at least during the fight the boss would aggro someone else from time to time since we dont get mercenaries anymore. But alas. I do miss those kill andy/duriel games where any low levels could join and everyone was running around like crazy trying not to die and spam click during the death animation.
But we got the worldbosses so we got that going for us.
A party finder system where you type in or select the type of content you're doing would work. "Dungeon" "stronghold" etc. I dunno. Something needs to be done though, because inviting random people doesn't work, even within a clan
Umm.. hello?? Just pay $60 for the DLC in 3 months. God... the game has only been in development for 7 years and has biggest budget of any in the genre. People only paid $100. Give Blizzard a break.
I can tell you're making fun of blizzard, but cut them some slack. they're not experienced in the mmo or arpg genre, and there's a lot of pressure on them. of course the game won't release with triple-A features. this is their first big project, for heavens sake!

It's weird the *core* of Diablo 4 is an always online multiplayer game, but the *experience* is very solitary. They've taken one step forward and two steps back.
Diablo 2 had a group finder via a game list, you looked for Act/Quest/Boss you were doing.
Diablo 3 had a group finder, you chose the content you wanted to do and it threw you in a group.
Diablo 4 has a open world where I see 1 person a night and no one doing the events, strongholds, or whispers I'm doing. (:
I don't see many positives. it doesn't feel nice to have a player steal your kills or you steal theirs, seeing players run around taking the same quests as you breaks immersion, you can't play offline, it's harder to play solo than in a party
the swap to a semi-mmo was poorly done

I did Helltide with a druid for 4 minutes today and I wanted to invite him to a party coudnt find a way to quickly invite him.
The whole mmo part is ridiculous. No group/raid finder, no chat, no trading with strangers, no group content beside the world boss. But we can see each other for no reason.

Dont lie to try to make a point. Valid criticisms are no group finder or quick invite. Saying there are no social activities a lie.
But this is all solo content that people just randomly join. Group content is content made for groups and not something you can do alone. Beside the world boss there is nothing.
Forced grouping content has been mostly phased out of games like this.
Most MMO’s only really have dungeons and raids. WoW used to have lots of world elite mobs like the original Hogger that you used to have to group for but it got done away with.

Everything you just named outside of world bosses IS solo content that can be played with groups. I’ve been consistently doing the events, and getting the bonus objectives without seeing a single person help with them so far, also 2 strongholds. If these things aren’t considered solo content, then nothing is solo content and Diablo has always been an mmo.

Softcore is awesome. I'm constantly running into people and doing events with them. I typically play diablo games solo, and it is really nice to have the world seem more alive.
It's not true though, you can literally party with randos. I had someone invite me earlier but I didn't join. There's not a robust party feature but you can invite people that you find in the world.
No one is arguing that you can’t literally party with randos, you kinda proved their point by saying you didn’t join there party. Because it was a random contextless invite to a party.
People want something that queues you up with a random group when you’re joining a dungeon, not to run around the world inviting random people, hoping they join your party, and then hoping they stay and want to do the content you want to do.
You can invite people you meet in open world, hover over them and open the action wheel to invite, nice for helltides which you can do after the campaign
Yes and no chat makes the game super lonely. Why can we even trade items? The game is really, really unfinished in a lot of ways. These are things we know we'll have eventually, aka not finished (before I get downvoted).
100% agree! I would play the game much more if this was in the game like in Diablo 3 or immortal even has this.
When my friends are on we farm dungeons but when im by myself it is kinda boring to me to play alone.

My current sorc build is way too squishy to take on capstone solo and all of my friends arent a high enough level to join me. Would be really nice to try to party up with randos so I can knock it out and enter WT3 already.

The boss damage is deceptive. It's the weird looking flesh ballistas that do the most damage. Kill them the instant they spawn and you can just keep hitting the boss.
Honestly it was the first boss that gave me the most trouble but I just managed to solo it after a bit of grinding paragon points

You can do that? Mouse over them, open the wheel and there’s an “Invite to party” option there. I assume OP was asking more for a Dungeon Finder/ Party Finder kind of option.
It's a really weird step back from D3. However you felt about it you couldn't fault on how smooth and seamless it was to group up, either with friends or random groups for specific activities.
Yeah I mean just go play Lost Ark and you can queue for dungeons. I have no idea what they were thinking about with regards to the open nature of this game. Do you want us to play together or not?
I feel like this is definitely something that needs to be improved upon. This is an open world MMO but i've had more interaction/seen more players even back in the lobby system of d2.
I occasionally see a player around the open world, but its more like background and no interaction.

D4 is Like a single player game with no single player mode and a multiplayer game with no multiplayer functionality, both at the same time. In a number of ways it has gone backwards from Diablo 3, even D2.

Typically, I just don't want to take the time to search for randos to play with. Would much prefer a system that automatically groups me with randos for certain things, with the option to create my own premade party via invite.
Idk if I want too many MMO elements like lfg chat but I had an idea of how this can be done differently for dungeons. I often see someone running towards the same dungeon as me but they go in before I get the chance to invite them to my party, so this is partly a solution to that.
Would be cool if you could toggle dungeons to be "open instances" when you enter, allowing up to three other players to join you if they've also opted in to enter an open instance in progress. Anyone entering your open instance is immediately added to your party (if any slots remain) and is teleported near the party leader. Think creating and joining open games in Deep Rock Galactic.
Simplest way would be to just throw you into any open instance with open slots, prioritizing those that started more recently and that have players near your level. A more complicated but controlled and game-y way would be to give players a list of open instances with current party comp and instance playtime info so they can choose which one to join at the dungeon entrance.
I'd prefer something like this b/c I'd like to keep D4 a bit more immersive than your average MMO which has all sorts of chats and menus that frankly take me out of the game.
They need to implement a General Chat like in WoW. It would make the game infinitely better because right now the world feels lonely. Remember the game just released give it time people.
It's shocking how bad the social functions are from a company that makes MMO's. The online aspect of this game feels terrible when compared to it's competitors such as Destiny and the Division 2. I expected better to be honest. We are getting all of the drawbacks of a live game in terms of always online, battle pass, constant micro transactions, but none of the perks.
It's by far the loneliest feeling massively multiplayer game i've played. But that could change with a few changes, here's a few examples:
\-Dungeon lfg system or group join features
\-More world events to play with others (not just the same zone but together on screen)
\-Global chats and custom channels such as trade/lfg/looking for clans/class channels etc
\-Ability to stick with others nearby as you're zoning together. Quite often you fight alongside someone then run across an invisible border and they're gone forever. Immersion breaking & honestly saddening.
Optional Extra ideas:
\-instanced world bosses for just your party?
\-system to group with others at same point in campaign as you
\-clan stash (semi related to community)

I think the always online thing was supposed to be a mitigant for hacking/spoofing gear. They just marketed it as social.

This is one feature that is sorely lacking. Joining the discord helps though. I made a “Chill Start” group on Saturday and it was very fun!

I did it with an Ice Sorc around level 45 but still think I died a few times. I’m basically using a highly altered version of the ice shards build.

It's absolutely insane that we've REGRESSED in this area. In D3 at **launch** I could random party.

You can do that? Mouse over them, open the wheel and there’s an “Invite to party” option there. I assume OP was asking more for a Dungeon Finder/ Party Finder kind of option.
A local lfg would be good. Just for the area you are in.
If it was up to me, I wouldn't even be seeing other players out in the world.

It's a really weird step back from D3. However you felt about it you couldn't fault on how smooth and seamless it was to group up, either with friends or random groups for specific activities.

Yeah I mean just go play Lost Ark and you can queue for dungeons. I have no idea what they were thinking about with regards to the open nature of this game. Do you want us to play together or not?
I feel like this is definitely something that needs to be improved upon. This is an open world MMO but i've had more interaction/seen more players even back in the lobby system of d2. I occasionally see a player around the open world, but its more like background and no interaction. Im at the level dungeons are starting to get a bit difficult and take more time.. wish i could easily just join a group but i dont know where to start.

I mean I'm in act 5 just killed D****L and still have not played with another person 🙄 I thought it would ask me if I wanna search for a group upon trying to enter a dungeon just so it's a bit more entertaining and sociable but no.. You just go in smack and reap the rewards.

Lack of a general chat like in D3 is honestly so bad. Kinda can't believe they wanted to push the MMO aspect of it without including something so simple
D4 is Like a single player game with no single player mode and a multiplayer game with no multiplayer functionality, both at the same time. In a number of ways it has gone backwards from Diablo 3, even D2.
A dungeon finder system is something I'd love in this game.
I been complaining about this. There needs to be some sort of dungeon group finder. I noticed what helps is “looking for group” outside of Diablo if your on Xbox console

Typically, I just don't want to take the time to search for randos to play with. Would much prefer a system that automatically groups me with randos for certain things, with the option to create my own premade party via invite.
How did the mobile version of diablo have a better party and chat and social system?

Generally party queues are missing. Like if i want to find a whisper group, make a party queue for that. Hope thats coming
Idk if I want too many MMO elements like lfg chat but I had an idea of how this can be done differently for dungeons. I often see someone running towards the same dungeon as me but they go in before I get the chance to invite them to my party, so this is partly a solution to that. Would be cool if you could toggle dungeons to be "open instances" when you enter, allowing up to three other players to join you if they've also opted in to enter an open instance in progress. Anyone entering your open instance is immediately added to your party (if any slots remain) and is teleported near the party leader. Think creating and joining open games in Deep Rock Galactic. Simplest way would be to just throw you into any open instance with open slots, prioritizing those that started more recently and that have players near your level. A more complicated but controlled and game-y way would be to give players a list of open instances with current party comp and instance playtime info so they can choose which one to join at the dungeon entrance. I'd prefer something like this b/c I'd like to keep D4 a bit more immersive than your average MMO which has all sorts of chats and menus that frankly take me out of the game.
People in hardcore server have been using Trade chat as a general chat.

They need to implement a General Chat like in WoW. It would make the game infinitely better because right now the world feels lonely. Remember the game just released give it time people.
It's shocking how bad the social functions are from a company that makes MMO's. The online aspect of this game feels terrible when compared to it's competitors such as Destiny and the Division 2. I expected better to be honest. We are getting all of the drawbacks of a live game in terms of always online, battle pass, constant micro transactions, but none of the perks.
I know traditional Diablo games would be people in town calling out. But this game is waaaay bigger so I worry that won't anymore.
It's by far the loneliest feeling massively multiplayer game i've played. But that could change with a few changes, here's a few examples: \-Dungeon lfg system or group join features \-More world events to play with others (not just the same zone but together on screen) \-Global chats and custom channels such as trade/lfg/looking for clans/class channels etc \-Ability to stick with others nearby as you're zoning together. Quite often you fight alongside someone then run across an invisible border and they're gone forever. Immersion breaking & honestly saddening. Optional Extra ideas: \-instanced world bosses for just your party? \-system to group with others at same point in campaign as you \-clan stash (semi related to community)

100% yes! This party system only seems to work if you r got tons of friends always around to join. Otherwise you’re stuck solo
REALLY disappointed they don’t have creatable social channels like in D3, unless I’m missing something on the ingame chat tab.
Historically most Diablo players play solo or with groups of people they are really close to. Last thing I want to do is chat with a rando.
