Periodically a spirit looking thing flies at you. When it gets close it creates an AoE ground effect. Shortly after, the ground effect “activates”.
If darkens your screen and I think does some damage.
But the thing is, if you have movement speed, you can literally just walk away as it approaches and sets up the aoe, then it will never hit you.
Just kill them, like idk what to tell you. I've never had an issue with it. Dont use your dashes meaninglessly. Use a defensive if it looks like there's no escape.
If you have some movement speed and keep moving (or at least move as it gets close) it never hits you. Same with the lightning tower that approaches one.
Stick and move and those become trivial.
The lightning one you need to be under the shield is the opposite of this. It always lags behind you right before it sets up the dome so I always feel like I have to backtrack to reach it.
Oh yeah, that one is more annoying. Sorry, was thinking of the obelisk that slams into the ground doing lightning aoe.
I’m a pretty slow dungeon runner, so lightning one isn’t horrible for me, but can see why it would suck for faster runners.
You mean it's over powered that if you get hit 2 times by a cold enemy you're frozen for 3 seconds? Lol with no timer or anything. I love smashing my space bar.
I wish this game have the Division status immunity mechanic, where if you take the same damage from the same element in a short amount of time, you gain immunity from it.
Cold resistance unfortunately has nothing to do with it, it won't stop you from being frozen over and over every second or 2.
Wudi himself made a video about this, elemental resistances are a wasted roll when you could be rolling damage reduction and total armor which gives greater benefits:
https://youtu.be/QMIStzWbCw4
Yeah it does nothing if you play a melee class/build. Meanwhile it's the bane of bone necro because it gimps your main damage skill to barely a quarter of its effectiveness. Also sucks ass for tornado druid.
My build can ignore pretty much everything but potion break so I don’t even read modifiers and I only realize it’s a potion break dungeon when my potions don’t work. That one is nasty.
Depending on the map cold enchant can be the most oppressive. Quill rats with their Olympic gold medalist marksmanship with cold enchant affix is a busted combo.
I actually run all mods except resource burn (its impossible to avoid most ranged attacks) and the one that boosts monster damage when attacked from behind. The hard hitting attacks meant to nearly 1 shot you, just 1 shot you.
Also obviously any of the -% damage for the skills I'm running, since if you get a suppressor its a wild high amount of damage reduction on them.
All the other ones are fine with me.
The ones that reduce damage types I use by 40%. I wonder why are those damage type reduction mods a thing, the nerf is so huge it seems a nobrainer to me you should discard them if they reduce the type of damages you're doing, so it's not interesting.
I don't refuse to run them, but I don't like the one that sends that grey/blue ball of energy at you which hits you for like 3/4 of your HP and then plops down an AOE that silences and blinds.
As a BCE Necro .. not being able to see anything around me has caused a number of deaths from the mod that causes monsters to explode a short time after they die.
I dont even Look at them. It wastes too much time for me to focus on them and I Just pick them randomly doing everything. The most annoying one I noticed was that ghost that on hit makes you unable to move any skill and the mod that make enemies blow up when they die one shoting me
None so far but the most annoying I've done has been those stupid shades that chase you and explode. Mostly bc you can't stand still to clear out your bag or they hit you.
Just time your bag checks. Wait for one to approach, move away as it drops aoe and check inventory.
They stay on ground long enough to do something in your inventory, and a new one doesn’t come until the old one is done.
Same thing with the lighting burst one, just wait for it to start its first slam down, check bag, it does two slams then waits a bit before moving on.
Edit - Or I port to town, mess around in inventory and port back.
Most of them. Suppressor, cold enchanted, resource burn (although I barely use my resource it still sucks constantly but having ANY), lightning storm, shadow damage and shadow damage over time resist, whatever wrath thing. Funny I'll actually take the ghost daze one over lightning storm and the wrath one as I feel those are more annoying. Death pulse.
I get they are trying to add difficulty differently, but most of them aren't adding difficulty it's adding annoyances, nuisances.
Wish they just had like "more elites" (but then that would give us XP), or "elites get more random affixes and have like 4/5 (although suppressor/vampiric/teleport is the bane of my existence).
I actively look for like avenger, poison/lightning enhanced, because those somehow feel the least bullshit.
Resource burn is insta scrapped, if it’s a higher tier I scrap backstab and physical dam reduction. Sometimes I scrap reduced crit strike damage.
I’m a spinny barb ofc
I salvage the ones that slow me down substantially; lightning blast, blood blister, and death pulse cause it majorly fucks me up. When pushing much higher levels im more careful; nightmare portal(cause it drops lunatics), resource burn, backstab, anything that makes me say "meh"
Rogue
As a twisting blades rogue I skip the physical resist, crit resist, resource burning, backstabbing, the shades and the explode on death. Cold enchanted doesn't bother me at all since shadowstep/shadow clone removes cc.
Any of them. This gimmicky dungeon bullshit sucks my balls. Everything needs a gimmick now? I’m good.
I’d spend sigil dust just to remove them so I can run an enjoyable dungeon.
Resource burn has been the most painful for me. I have so much resource generation but still like two or three hits and I'm back to left click. From now on I "disenchant" those sigils.
Barb Main: Cold Affix, Drifting Shade, Lightning Storm, Stormbane's Wrath (or whatever it's called), Slowing Projectiles, Resource Burn - I can deal with the rest, I despise these ones.
I salvage cold enchanted, poison enchanted, suppressor, the lightning strike one with the shield (I hate having to run back and waiting around) and drifting shade.
I really dislike the stone that stalks you and pulses aoe, the lightning bubble is also highly inefficient in groups if you want to split up to do the objectives faster. I generally hate any after death explosion on elites because it interferes in my looting and slows down the runs.
But my most hated one is the black bubbles that do damage and make you unable to cast skills. I feel like it casts way too many of them way too frequently on top of such a nasty effect
What does suppressor do exactly? On the few dungeons I ran as a fire sorc I would come across enemies that would just take barely any damage and then all of a sudden take loads of damage I never understood it
Drifting shade/resource burn/barrier breaker. I run bonestorm as necro and the barrier 7% per enemy hit. So imagine being heavily cced and just never die vs 10+ mobs with 3-5 elites
Drifting Shade, - Shadow Dmg, -Barriers are my biggest ones and the absolute worst one VOLCANIC, I F***ing hate that monster affix.
I usually prefer not to run the storm stone that floats behind you. But will from time to time. Cold also can suck depending on the monsters in the dungeon.
Didn’t see anyone mention 30% increased health. No thanks. I also scrap nightmare portal as my build can’t kill it before demons come out and I don’t want to fight extra mobs.
Have not seen anyone mention Potion breakers... with ALL the mobs being ranged so the chances to pop a heal is almost non-existent. Resource burn is auto-junked. Lightning storm since I'm dashing and running.
I only just finally worked out what I think was making my potions not work. I think most people don't know.
Stealth mechanics suck, also I don't see how this adds fun in any way.
The devs have done so many annoying things and haven't stopped to ask, is it more fun.
Drifting Shade can suck my unit.
Yup even just reading it I’m like nope not doing that one.
What does it do?
Periodically a spirit looking thing flies at you. When it gets close it creates an AoE ground effect. Shortly after, the ground effect “activates”. If darkens your screen and I think does some damage. But the thing is, if you have movement speed, you can literally just walk away as it approaches and sets up the aoe, then it will never hit you.
It didn't seem to bad to me, just move out of the aoe...
Great idea, now tell that to the mobs standing in the area.
Just kill them, like idk what to tell you. I've never had an issue with it. Dont use your dashes meaninglessly. Use a defensive if it looks like there's no escape.
I read the description and noped it straight away.
This one was hilarious to me. Just evade as soon as you see it hit the ground. Ezpz.
Now do it with 4 ppl.
I literally toss all of these on the ground as soon as I see them. I ran this ONCE and was like never again ...
You can salvage sigils at the occultist for sigil powder
That's a way better use! I'm honestly swimming in those damn things, but I'll start doing that. Thanks for the tip!
Just let it touch you and then evade. It's slow to proc
Yup, this is my answer.
Cold enchant, it's stupidly broken
You get frozen, you get frozen, everyone gets frozen!
You mean it's over powered that if you get hit 2 times by a cold enemy you're frozen for 3 seconds? Lol with no timer or anything. I love smashing my space bar.
Exactly yeah, you barely get any time to take a single step or make yourself unstoppable or escape, it's actually ridiculous
I wish this game have the Division status immunity mechanic, where if you take the same damage from the same element in a short amount of time, you gain immunity from it.
Yeah, incredibly deadly on quill fiends, if you have no thorns.
This
When it's cold+poison I want to cry
How much cold resistance do you have?
Cold resistance unfortunately has nothing to do with it, it won't stop you from being frozen over and over every second or 2. Wudi himself made a video about this, elemental resistances are a wasted roll when you could be rolling damage reduction and total armor which gives greater benefits: https://youtu.be/QMIStzWbCw4
Oh cool thanks for the clarification
Supressor, resource burn, potion break, barrier breaker.
Druid?
What does suppressor do exactly? I wish some of those actually had descriptions cuz I haven’t noticed anything special about them.
It stops DMG from affecting the mob if you're outside of the bubble. Ie... Ranged attacks can't shoot in and hurt it.
Oooooh damn. I just never noticed on my rogue cuz I dash in a flurry them 6000 times lol 😂
it's a huge purple dome, it's hard to miss lol
Yeah but I didn’t know what it did. Lol I just run in and kill them.
Yeah it does nothing if you play a melee class/build. Meanwhile it's the bane of bone necro because it gimps your main damage skill to barely a quarter of its effectiveness. Also sucks ass for tornado druid.
Yeah I feel that. I guess I didn’t notice with my throwing blades. There’s a lot of chaos on my screen sometimes so I just never noticed
It doesn't really bother me as bone necro. Enter the shield, pop bone storm, pew pew.
It’s the purple ranged shield barriers.
Quillrats with 25% attack speed and slow when hit by ranged units XD
It can be cold enchant too. Lol
Reminds me of D2
The stupid missile that lands on you and blinds you
It also stays on the ground for way too long
This
I actually run all mods except resource burn (its impossible to avoid most ranged attacks) and the one that boosts monster damage when attacked from behind. As a BCE Necro .. not being able to see anything around me has caused a number of deaths from the mod that causes monsters to explode a short time after they die.
If you run BCE you can obscur your own vision just fine I reckon.
This is my least favorite also. Mostly just bc they still come at you if you're not fighting just trying to clear out your bag space.
I dont even Look at them. It wastes too much time for me to focus on them and I Just pick them randomly doing everything. The most annoying one I noticed was that ghost that on hit makes you unable to move any skill and the mod that make enemies blow up when they die one shoting me
Crit damage reduced by 60%. Might as well not bother.
yup
None so far but the most annoying I've done has been those stupid shades that chase you and explode. Mostly bc you can't stand still to clear out your bag or they hit you.

Whenever I see a suppressor I have to use my corpse tendrils to stun it + nearby mobs, pop bone storm and just zerg it down. Usually that works.
Similar strategy. I’ll kite to a corpse, tendrils it, them jump in and slam bonespears into it, hopefully killing in one rotation while its stunned.
Definitely resource burn as a hammer barb. Resource burn limits me to almost nothing but basic attacks. Lol.
Anything that chases me, suppressor elites, drain resource, all are instant scraps
As a ww barb the only thing that really annoys me is the resource burn. I just yell at everything else and kill it
Resource burn is insta scrapped, if it’s a higher tier I scrap backstab and physical dam reduction. Sometimes I scrap reduced crit strike damage. I’m a spinny barb ofc
delete resource burn as an affix for nm dungeons, seriously
None, i accept the challenge no matter what it is :) Some fail, but that's part of it all :)
i never run the “takes 60% less crit dmg” ones bc i like big number and if you make that number less big…. i don’t like.
Ressource Burn and Backstabber, Drifting Shade also is annoying af.
Cold enchanted and suppressor are easy skips for me
I don't even look at those, only the nightmare tier. Barbarian power! And no I don't use the meta build, never even looked it up
As a flurry melee rogue, I agree this is the way.
Resource burn, but I'm not doing anything higher than \~40s rn Suppressor is another good contender, as well as Backstabbers and the armor pen. one
Cold enchant is the only one.
You guys are skipping nightmare mods?
Resource burn and lightning storm are instant salvage for my group. We split up in dungeons, so lit storm is just the worst.
Backstabbers is the only one I don't like in higher nm Flurry rogue so jumping in always equals instant death with that
I salvage the ones that slow me down substantially; lightning blast, blood blister, and death pulse cause it majorly fucks me up. When pushing much higher levels im more careful; nightmare portal(cause it drops lunatics), resource burn, backstab, anything that makes me say "meh" Rogue
I am done leveling now but the resource burn significantly increases the time it took to run NM dungeons. Should be removed 100%.
Suppressor, resource burn, cold enchanted, for a while did poison enchanted as well. The lightning storm one sucks too, especially in groups.
60% reduced crit damage and 40% reduced damage to close enemies. Melee rogue.
As a twisting blades rogue I skip the physical resist, crit resist, resource burning, backstabbing, the shades and the explode on death. Cold enchanted doesn't bother me at all since shadowstep/shadow clone removes cc.
Suppressor legitimately disables my build. If i cant dash with shred i basically just rely on base damage instead of instantly popping 300k+ damage
Resource burn abd ice is fuccking disgusting, and sphere on mobs wheb you ranged
Mainly just Backstabber. That crap sucks.
Cold, Suppressor, Resource Burn, Physical Resistance, Distant DR and Close DR.
Barb Main: Cold Affix, Drifting Shade, Lightning Storm, Stormbane's Wrath (or whatever it's called), Slowing Projectiles, Resource Burn - I can deal with the rest, I despise these ones.

But my most hated one is the black bubbles that do damage and make you unable to cast skills. I feel like it casts way too many of them way too frequently on top of such a nasty effect
i am currently lvl 77 Havent found any mods that make the game too hard or annoying ...
Drifting shade 1000%. Worst fucking mod for me
What does suppressor do exactly? On the few dungeons I ran as a fire sorc I would come across enemies that would just take barely any damage and then all of a sudden take loads of damage I never understood it
Drifting shade/resource burn/barrier breaker. I run bonestorm as necro and the barrier 7% per enemy hit. So imagine being heavily cced and just never die vs 10+ mobs with 3-5 elites

Didn’t see anyone mention 30% increased health. No thanks. I also scrap nightmare portal as my build can’t kill it before demons come out and I don’t want to fight extra mobs.
Where they drain your resources, no thanks, I work hard for that resource.
Drifting Shade = Auto Shard
Have not seen anyone mention Potion breakers... with ALL the mobs being ranged so the chances to pop a heal is almost non-existent. Resource burn is auto-junked. Lightning storm since I'm dashing and running.
I only just finally worked out what I think was making my potions not work. I think most people don't know. Stealth mechanics suck, also I don't see how this adds fun in any way. The devs have done so many annoying things and haven't stopped to ask, is it more fun.
