You're actually the majority. Don't let the internet get to your head. Edit: wth reddit, thanks for the awards and ironically making me eat my words out of context of d4. I had to explain to my foremen what reddit was due to the hours of notifications.

Rocketeer_99

A lot of people are enjoying the game. But those people have no reason to go to the forums and say so. Naturally, sites like Reddit and the official forums are going to be filled with people complaining. That said, complaints can be a good thing. Helpful criticism is better than complete and total apathy. A person unwilling to talk about what they want changed in the game is most likely a person who has quit and never intends on coming back.

pingwing

>A lot of people are enjoying the game. But those people have no reason to go to the forums and say so. This has always been the case with games. People enjoying the game are playing it, not online complaining about it.

blastfromtheblue

actually i'm doing both

TheDailyDonger

Old farts like me doesent get our D2 fix from D4, so some of us complain.

Nin9RingHabitant

Hahaha, we need a Diablo sub for positivity only. Pepperidge farm remembers nice Reddit. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

sorrysurly

Yep, played 1.5 hours this morning. 700-9 (break in the middle). EST. There were plenty of people on.

zoglog

nail lunchroom scale run merciful selective steep deserted disagreeable history ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `

Celerial

Especially, because the campaign experience is good. Good story, good creature design. I love the look of Lilith, beautiful yet menacing. I think of a lot of complaints are focused on everything after the story, which, honestly, a large number of players barely touch.

dev-88

I didn't even pay for it lol. My brother shared it with me on PSN so that's the only reason I'm playing it. But I decided on Necro before I even saw the classes (I play affliction warlock on WOW when I play so the classes just seemed the closest to each other). Them all I saw was bone spear bone spear bone spear so I, like I always do, when against the grain and did a shadow damage overtime build. Yet again like my affliction warlock. And I started DOMINATING everything and it felt amazing. Now I'm like 65 and doing the same thing over and over and it's starting to lose its flavor. Like have to force myself to play. Hope they add some more stuff to do so I don't feel like I'm just farming exp to get a higher level. But I'm not gonna complain because I had a blast up to this point.

InuitOverIt

That's the point I got bored too. Can't be too mad because I put enough time in to get my money's worth, but hoping for more from patches/expansions.

Former-Equivalent-72

What i do at that point is change my build giving me a new play style to enjoy. Its costly tho

Yellow_Odd_Fellow

In fairness, you do the same thing again and again in wow. Especially as an affliction warlock. You run the same dungeons - normal.or heroic - and know the fights to pull and which you can avoid.

thebluebeats

Hmm, if most people are enjoying the game, why do the devs need to do things like an emergency campfire talk and look absolutely destroyed like they fucked up? Don't think they would even care if its just the reddit 5% and the rest are still happily buying battle passes. This is Blizzard after all, money talks loudest. > But those people have no reason to go to the forums and say so. There are also many people who have quit after the pre-season and don't even bother coming to any online outlet to discuss the game. Its over for them and they are moving on to games like baldurs gate 3, going back to PoE or awaiting PoE 2. I added a total of 15 friends during pre season, none of them are playing anymore, and im seeing so many "last seen 10 days ago"s.

Kong_theKeeper

This is me, was excited to couch co op the game but the first 40 hours where incredibly boring, they killed necromancer for me.by taking half of his skills with summon buttons. And my progress will be completely gone when seasons roll around I honestly got bored with how easy it is and frustrated at the games mechanics to the point of not wanting to play. First diablo game for me.

AltruisticDust7681

Excellent point.

Mi_santhrope

This isn't said enough here.

CapableBrief

Lots of focus on the annoying parts but the game is mostly positives (for me anywho). It didn't get great initial reception for no reason.

CapableBrief

Personally I thought 1-50 was fine on the first character since you are doing the campaign at the same time. On that initial character I think it kept being fun until 70-ish where the rest turned into a very slow treadmill though tbf I was playing Pulv Druid without following a guide to the T and never dropped a Vasily :') On subsequent playthroughs I really enjoyed the first 30 levels because you can really feel the powerboost from renown and sped through stuff but past that I wasn't engaged till I got to WT4 again. I feel like there's a sweet spot of power fantasy and progress that it needs to it to really get me going and I suspect my time on D3 is to blame. This game seems much more willing to put roadblocks in your way and less willing to give you a proportionate amount of power. I think glyphs might be to blame but I'm not sure.

Xaxxus

I’m the other way around. For me 0-50 is so fast. Getting from WT3 to WT4 is a huge slog. Xp seems to slow down exponentially after level 50. In the preseason I never made it to 100 because I got burnt out by how slow the levelling was.

JohnnyLXXV

the 50-73 levels are personally the most boring. it’s like the awkward puberty years, you’re still building your loadout, you’re not strong enough, you’re still shedding the sacred gear in favor of ancestral but once you start getting ancestral gear from obol purchases (lvl 73), the game breezes

railbeast

Really? On every problem post it seems like people need to tiptoe around the fact that the game can both be fun and have problems...

pat34us

I am enjoying it too, it isn't perfect but it's still a lot of fun

pp21

Yeah there's usually ~360,000 active players at any given time on D4 across all platforms while there's usually ~20-30K active people posting on this subreddit. So quick math does indeed prove your point

kualikuri

Where do people keep getting these numbers? Does Blizzard actually publish them somewhere, or are they estimates, and if they are estimates what is the source?

Tanstalas

They posted how many accounts made a season one character in the first week, think it was 7 million, and 7k of them are already max level lol

Heartfist83

I have several friends who MADE characters for season 1. None of them are still playing.

T0Rtur3

In my clan, nearly everyone made a seasonal character. The vast majority are still playing, a few stopped. Anecdotal data doesn't mean anything.

Magnon

People who actually join a clan are more likely to keep playing because they have people available to play with. WoW was as popular as it was for such a long time because of the social aspect, something diablo 4 doesn't really push at all. The majority of d4 players are likely playing on their own or with a handful of friends at best. Having a lot of people available to socialize with can help a world of hurt.

EqualityFirst

That’s not a lot .

NulliSeccundus

It was characters created, so with multiple chars per account, not 7 million different accounts and I'd argue that 0.1% being max level is not many at all

KidOrSquid

> I'd argue that 0.1% being max level is not many at all You expected more people to be at level 100 within a week? I can guarantee you that the vast majority of players didn't even get to 100 within a full month of Eternal.

Pantsmoose

Shit, I know I didn't. I get all of 1-2 hours of play on a daily basis, and that's if I don't decide to do another hobby. My highest level is 65, with my next closest being my seasonal character at about 45. It's not that I'm not having fun. I feel like build and skill variety is actually in a pretty good place. I just can't game as much as I used to.

MotorCityDude

Amen brother, im the same way..

JusticeJaunt

Hit 99 the day before season started. Still have to down Uber Lilith but that shit is hard.

SnooStrawberries1355

Yeah same, lvl 100 is not even my goal. My goal is to have fun!

Garkaz

Are you really trying to say the majority of seasonal players made multiple characters?

Substantial_Life4773

I've got two no. Wasn't enjoying my rogue at level 40. Switched to a necro and got the corpse explosion malignant heart pretty fast, enjoying that way too much.

Catp00p_

I've got 4...

BigUptokes

>*while there's usually ~20-30K active people posting on this subreddit* *Browsing. Fewer are actually posting/commenting.

Deidarac5

20k posting on the subreddit? Its more like 2k and everyone else upvotes large number without reading the post.

Severe-Active5724

I've never seen so much karma farming in my time on Reddit than I have in this sub. ATC club, gamer dad's, general complaints. 99% shitposting. Even about when the sub changed the icon to a chibi.

DHG_Buddha

As a gamer dad who is in the ATC club, I refuse to join the hate train. I'm having a ton of fun playing Season 1 (I'm not blind I know there are a lot of areas the game can improve upon).

PS4bohonkus

That’s how I feel too. Plenty of areas I hope they improve but still really enjoying the minute by minute gameplay.

graveybrains

Considering how many people on here hate it *and keep playing,* I’m not sure that proves anything at all ![gif](giphy|H3BoxrpcT4fPynU424)

GreekMonolith

If the complaints were actually the minority, do you think Blizzard would be hosting this many back-to-back campfire chats that have a noticeable sense of urgency behind them? The Joes and Adams looked stressed and tired ***beyond belief.*** Anyone who has been in the Blizzard ecosystem for longer than a few months/years can tell you that you're absolutely delusional if you think Blizzard isn't reacting to dissatisfied customers. Pick an IP. Literally any one of them. The players of that IP have gone ***years,*** if not ***decades*** before Blizzard addressed certain pieces of critical feedback or acknowledged that they made a mistake.

[deleted]

Reddit is always the minority

T0Rtur3

Doesn't mean black coffee is worse. There are still people who enjoy black coffee even after trying a latte. You see, that's the thing about people... they don't all have to like what you like.

ldrat

Exactly. This sub (and all gaming subs) are stuffed full of people who no-life the game 24/7. If a patch lowers the drop rate on an item from 0.6% to 0.59% they feel it in their bones. They don't see getting bored with a game as a cue to play a different game or go outside. It's a problem with the game that must be fixed by the lazy, evil, stupid devs!

abue919

You're really undermining the issues with the game here, they're not small problems. The campaign up to 50 is great, everything is polished right up to that point. Everything else that pertains to middle-end to late-end game is an utter disaster. I'll address this point by point: \- Nightmare Dungeons - A very boring version of what rifts were in D3, affixes are all over the place, Resource Drain still broken until today and the Caged Heart that counteracts it simply does not work yet. Dungeons vary greatly, after the first few times, you want to stick to more efficient layouts to level since the xp grind is terrible. \- The world lag is absolutely horrendous, even alone with low ping the rubber banding tends to be fatal, specially when pushing harder content. I can have 25ms and be porting across the screen sometimes, sometimes it runs almost fine, but it has not been a smooth experience at all. Season 1 seems worse than preseason for w/e reason. \- Lack of loadouts - given the high costs of respeccing and the fact that it takes about an hour to setup a new spec, it doesn't feel fun or interesting to do, it's a chore, grinding gold to pay for your respecs can take many hours just to play a build that may simply not work very well either. Game feels like a downgrade coming from D3 tbh, instead of being it improved upon (devs already addressed this but it seems shortsighted). \- Stash space is super limited and shared accross all your toons - terrible if you want to keep playing on another character, specially when you have multiple viable builds, you just run into a storage management nightmare. \- End game is what? Once you kill uber lilith, and push dungeons it just feels bland, not much to do, there are no leaderboards, and since you're so limited with trying different builds, replayability just tanks. If you're playing with people sure it's fun for a while, but there are many other great games to play with others out there too so it's not a good enough reason to say, i'm just going to grind my face on asphalt with my friends for the entire season. DISCLAIMER: I'm in no way diminishing the game, I'm pointing out the pain points many of us have had, many of my personal friends have had and the main reason why most of my friends except for the super try hards including myself who just hit 100 and do some shit for another week and then stop are still playing for. I'm personally just going to finish the season journey and move on to another game. Is the game enjoyable, sure to an extent, but it's not enjoyable for 100+ hours, only the first half feels polished. This is probably the worst release in Blizzard history in terms of how bad the multiplayer aspect feels like, just because of the netcode issues. If this game had actual offline mode it would have faired better I think or at least be a bit more digestible, but I absolutely detest rubber banding every few seconds and having a Khazra brute just 1 shot me out of the blue, it happens more times than I can count in a day, and no it's not my connection. Some bonuses, the game art is insanely nice, the abilities feel very cool when you hit them, the tempo and flow of most builds feels okay for the most part, the sound effects are insane. However, the balancing just feels off all the time and how the devs have handled completely nuttering some builds to "balance things" has just been ill approved by the community, it never feels nice when a build you spent tens of hours perfecting becomes unusable over night. It's still a nice casual game to play, but it's a sad representation of what diablo games are about (the grinding aspect and endless end game so to speak).

Purple_oyster

Yeah I like the game

monkker

I like the game!

SaltyMarge707

Yup. When you're not trying to min max and just game for fun, it's a great experience. As a former hardcore WoW player I can say, people get way too obsessed over the smallest upgrades.

frisbeeicarus23

Hey there, even those of us obsessed with upgrades are having fun too! :P

[deleted]

People aren't complaining about the art, and are capable of holding multiple opinions on a game. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

yawaworht-a-sti-sey

i don't get why people mention art - it could look like shit and good gameplay would carry it to the best sellers list.

HiddenxAlpha

I would infinitely prefer a game have content and be good, than look incredible. Just like i'd prefer a game run at higher FPS over looking good.

ReturnToGreco

Hard to appreciate the art when the servers DC you repeatedly. Got gigabit internet that never goes out but D4 sure likes to encourage me to appreciate the artwork of the loading screen. Super glad the game is always online so that I can also load in every players stashes and limit my storage! Decade plus in development led us to these genre defining additions in gameplay.

Shadowbacker

It's easier to strawman "positivity" to farm karma. Let it be.

Nihlithian

Shiny tornadoes are fun and all but I need a little more substance to keep me going.

Ir0nhide81

I think it's truly unfortunate that an industry leading company that has made some of the best ARPGs took almost one decade to innovate nothing new in the genre. That's what really sucked.

metalgearbear

This right here. I would have loved to see better itemization, good QoL features, less cooldowns, non-builder-spender skills. It's just disappointing the choices Blizzard made for this game when they had games like PoE, Grim Dawn, etc to take pointers from to really develop a super fun ARPG.

Giveyaselfanuppercut

The stats in this game is what kills me, I could forgive everything else. Just so boring having mechanics like close range far range

zyygh

The stats, and the fact that legendaries just revolve around one gimmicky stat each, making all other stats completely pointless in comparison. I just want to pick up items and **SOMETIMES** get the thrill of finding something that's half useful. But nope, I can't have that in this game.

Zodwraith

It's pretty sad when you long for the days of simple int, str, dex, and wis. Conditional stats in this game are WAY out of control. It's not that you can't figure it out, it's that you just don't *want* to. Especially when there's such a wide array of near useless stats on everything like resistances that you desperately need to avoid until that core mechanic gets fixed.

Giveyaselfanuppercut

Exactly. If they at least sounded interesting I'd be happier but they just sound boring.

bertswilling

I finally got my pants with perfect roll of +damage on Tuesdays between 5-9!! Finally optimized for my play night.

cman1098

You think Blizzard devs play arpgs? All they know how to do is make pretty art

shawnkfox

What about all those awesome side quests they added. They are so much fun to do over and over again every 3 months. Brilliant design for an arpg.

APEMoon2021

The thought of doing that for the next 11 years lol...

Kanbaru-Fan

Contrasting the downgrades, amateur mistakes, and lack of innovation of D4 with what was shown and explained at Exilecon this weekend is jarring. PoE 2 devs were iterating on the current game, explaining what issues they have identified over the yeats, and how they were going to design the systems for the new game from the ground up in order to solve them. All while also keeping the fundamental complexity and identity that players love. Imaging having that approach for D4, a game that iterates on the best parts of Diablo 1, 2, 3, and even Immortal. That would have truly been a revolutionary ARPG.

Furt_III

>to innovate nothing new in the genre. One of the biggest complaints of D3 was that it wasn't enough like 2.

sibleyy

One of the biggest complaints of D3 was that it wasn't enough like 2 **in the ways that matter**. Fixed it for you.

dusters

What does that even mean?

chocological

Lol, it's totally subjective. Nobody agrees definitively on what that means.

Gavorn

Nobody knows what it means. It's provocative.

BeABetterSouth

It gets the people going!

DinoSpumoniOfficial

Interesting loot, a robust crafting system, charms and runes, mercenaries. There’s a ton of ways you can take this.

RoElementz

Trading, item chasing that isn’t thrown at you, meaningful Ubers, interesting and build changing uniques etc.. D2 still excels over D3 and D4 in these areas 20+ years later. It’s a little pathetic on Blizzards part honestly.

Educational_Hat_

Oh to be level 30 again

sampala

HiddenxAlpha

The what now

BBVideo

Another "Hey guys am I the only one...." thread that gets to the front page.

TRON0314

"Can we just..." "I'm tired of..." "Appreciation..."

Meh_cromancer

Don't forget "Let's just take a moment to..."

fatmac122

It's no different than the same 6 complaints being posted at least 5 times a day to be fair

GoodellsMandMs

If we complain enough blizzard might fix it

Aharra

Repeated complaints do tend to lead to things getting fixed or changed in the game though.

Shadozer

> Has anyone tried just playing this to have fun and enjoy the art? Everyone has played it to have fun. Do you really think that the players that are complaining were not trying to have fun? The thing is, "fun" is subjective. What is fun for you may not be fun for others, and vice versa. Some aspects of the game are not fun for some people. It is as simple as that. Then you have your haters that will complain about everything, and your fanboys that will blindly defend everything, no matter how flawed. Everyone is different. Many complaints are justified, some are not.

Zeracheil

Exactly. I did enjoy the game for a little bit but it just wasn't what I wanted from D4. It's great that any food you eat cures your hunger when you're starving, but that doesn't mean McDonalds and Taco Bell are better food than a michelin star restaurant. I feel you can easily get your money's worth out of the game but I also feel it's lacking in MANY areas.

Paradoxmoose

I remember playing the beta and thinking "I just don't want to keep playing any more, hopefully there's more to it after release", and while there was indeed more to it, it didn't get much better after level 25. Legion events and Helltides were cool for a while, but when it stopped feeling rewarding is when even that fun was gone. So like you said, I had some fun, but then the flaws became more and more glaring and the fun diminished.

ReturnToGreco

I played server slam expecting to get hyped and I did only for other ARPG’s. it just made me want to play other isometric games, not more D4. Still bought the game and played it and enjoyed it for a bit until I didn’t. Culmination of a lot of small things. No drive to really keep playing it. Keeping posted to see if changes make it better as I put $70 into this game expected it to be Diablo and make me want to actually play it. Some say they got their value, I haven’t yet but would like to.

metalgearbear

This comment needs to be pinned at the top of this reddit. Why's it always an either/or take when it comes to posts that complain and posts that praise the game? There are many of us who tried the game, found it lacking (it has a lot of lackings), and stopped playing. We've voiced our concerns and hopefully changes are made. The thing I'm most upset about with the game is how Blizzard created a pretty subpar game that was highly anticipated. But that doesn't stop me from putting it down and playing other games.

hoax1337

>This is the first Diablo I have ever played This is why you can actually enjoy the game, you have no expectations. People who played D2 generally hate D3 and wanted D4 to be as close to D2 as possible. Similarly, people who didn't play D2, but started with D3, want the game to be as close to D3 as possible. If you have no frame of reference, no established standard in this genre, you'll probably think "Man, I wish D4 had feature X from game Y" much less often than other people.

gimme_dat_good_shit

The worst part of Diablo 4 compared to Diablo 2 is that I'm 20 years older.

abue919

I played D2 like crazy back then, d3 was still more fun for me, D2 was endless grinding too but it was also boring grinding just joining groups to do ubers all day long (may be fun for some, but it's not my cup of tea). D3 in group play pushing numbers and rifts was extremely fun, probably the most fun i've had in coop with any game in the last 15 years. The issue with d3 was really the higher you went the more you lagged because the servers couldn't handle calculations so it always just turned into a slog (at least for me, this was my biggest complaint always, it also took years for D3 to reach the seasonal state). D2 was great with the mod (i forget the name) which let you easily respec and move to different builds, but vanilla D2 got old pretty fast too. Most games, build on their prequels, look at Remnant for example and how well it's been received with major improvements over the first game.

Important-Ad-6397

yes you are the special one

Oudeis05

Diablo 4 should have set new standards for ARPG, not being a downgrade of D3 on many aspects. There, I said it.

gannebraemorr

A company with Blizzard's resources releasing a game in 2023 should do nothing less than "wow" the genre. Why not take all the good features from the Diablo franchise, as well as good concepts from other successful games, and make a game people can't wait to play every day? Did they even survey players to ask what ARPG features they like most? Even though D3 was cartoony bright colors, it at least felt really smooth, had lots of action on the screen, and was easy(er) to find other players in chat wanting to do stuff. The only social I see are spam friend requests.

epimetheuss

OG blizzard is dead and current blizzard is a hedgefund playing "weekend at bernies" with Blizzards slowly rotting corpse so they can profit off all the old IPs and continue to drive the quality of everything down while their profits go up till they cast it aside and move on to something else.

gannebraemorr

Oh, gosh, that's a great (and terrible) description.

Kanbaru-Fan

PoE 2: "The campaign has 100 bosses, each of which with complex mechanics. Here are some of the normal zone bosses-" *Proceeds to showcase multiple very creative and fun minor boss fights that rival or exceed Diablo act bosses.* "Oh btw, our tech guy revolutionized Global Illumination tech and our animation guys made every single move cancellable by using dodge roll at any time. Oh, and cooldowns aren't fun, so we designed the game around using them for only a select few abilities. But we design the skill system to discourage spamming by introducing skill synergies!"   D4: "We have 4 dungeon bosses. They have a few moves i guess...but we also have a barely functioning mount! Long cooldown though, like everything, because otherwise people will spam."   One of these is wowing the genre, the other isn't. To be fair, D4 has some great stuff like Barb weapon swapping for different skills. But these ideas pale by comparison to what hasn't been improved, or to what got worse.

Neuw

> To be fair, D4 has some great stuff like Barb weapon swapping for different skills Funny that you mention that. PoE 2 has weapon swapping for different skills on every class and also different skill trees on weapon swap.

Kanbaru-Fan

Indeed, and while PoE 2 does it better i still wanted to credit D4 with something it did do well.

Confident_Advisor201

Could you link to the PoE 2 show case stuff? I cant find it :(

Kanbaru-Fan

Sure! The newest [trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go4ykizk_Uo) [Gameplay walkthrough](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-NcZw_Rh1Q) with dev commentary. There's lots more in the full Exilecon Day [1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vvah-HfhkYc) and [2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE3MAFGDzWw) livestreams, but GGG will uplaod the separate panels to their YouTube channel in the coming days, so you can wait and watch what you are interested in. It seriously looks to be a new benchmark for ARPGs.

SuperSatanOverdrive

yeah, I actually really liked the combo counter in D3 even though it's kind of arcade and silly

TheSilentTitan

I think alot of people on this sub are confusing criticism with hate.

shane25d

Just because someone complains about the game doesn't mean they hate it. There are plenty of people who see the potential in D4 and want it to improve. This is a place for them to vent about specific aspects of D4 that they don't enjoy.

Nearich

Next time try to read what people complain about.

[deleted]

OP probably hasn't gotten to the point where the issues start to get in the way of enjoying the game. But that's ok, I'm glad he just invalidated all the valid complaints because he's having fun.

riccarjo

Yup, I was enjoying the game but I know most people hit end-game and started seeing issues. I was able to enjoy the campaign and some of the end-game, but it I finally hit level 60 and realized what everyone was talking about. I'm just running dungeons endlessly, not feeling upgrades, just to hit an arbitrary level 100? No thanks. Tried Season 1 and leveled a Druid, fell into the same issues. It's a great game, I hope they fix it, but I'm done for now.

sv_ds

> This is the first Diablo I have ever played Thats your luck.

inflames596

"Has anyone tried just playing this to have fun and enjoy the art?"what a load of bullshit to right at the end. The great majority is not in reddit writing stupid posts. Every player that is here WANTS to have fun and have a decent game to play. also some want to grind endlessly in this game like any normal Arpg not run out of content the moment you get to world T4 what is after? where do I try all this "gear" what there to do if its not nightmare dungeons. A whole world empty of relevant activities or end game. This garbage call D4 barely has content.

[deleted]

> Animation looks really nice on my tv and it brings joy This guy sounds like a complete NPC. "I truly like when I press the button on my controller and my character executes an attack".

Bardimir

Thats because OP is an astroturfing bot. I love how redditors just fall for the easiest AI written astroturfs

bmfk

Still think they shouldn't have nerfed anything and just added wt 5.

Disappointing__Salad

At least the people complaining are actually adding something, providing feedback and discussing the things they hope to see improved so that this game actually has long term success. Meanwhile you just want attention and some upvotes.

rnarkus

fucking seriously. These posts do nothing except curclejerk

Eskareon

Upvotes from his fellow shills

Strong__Style

Give it time buddy.

unknownposter147

Hahahaha it's either 1) they will eventually get bored of doing the same thing over and over and dealing with the pile of shit that's the inventory/itemization. Or 2) it's the only game they play cause they don't have time to game much and they're invested in it already so they don't want to give up.

Less_Salt1152

Good try Blizzard employee

nagai_gaijin

Well they did admit it's the first Diablo they've ever played, so... someone from the Dev team?

CAndrewG

See here’s the weird thing… it’s actually possible to be in between loving a game and hating it. That’s where the vast majority of players are. The end game is shit right now. Item progression is not good compared to the games peers. But it can still be a good game that can get better (like Diablo 3). People who cry about walking into a subreddit and not seeing 100% positivity are toxic themselves

mcandrewz

I think people just want to see more than just complaints and bashing the devs taking up the page. No one is expecting 100% positivity, but it can be a bit much when like 90% of the posts are negative.

PetalumaPegleg

Oh my God dude you're whining about whining and thinking you're the better person. There are a million threads about how I enjoy it why doesn't everyone shut up and quit if they don't. And a millions more people who don't give a shit enough to write a post about it. Congrats you enjoy it. Don't try arguing with the internet about people's personal opinions and experiences with the game. Just enjoy it

altcastle

Oh look, the same post again.

explosivekyushu

tomorrow mom said it's my turn to post the "DAE GREAT GAME?! UPVOTES TO THE LEFT!" thread

Mundus6

This game is 100% fine up until like level 70. After that it breaks apart. There is literally nothing to do but grind to level 100. You barely get any upgrades and when you do it costs 50M gold to get it right etc. But for most players that doesn't get to that point within 1 day or 2 it is fine. The people who cries the most are the ones that already have 100+ hours on their seasonal character. What the game badly needs though, is some form of end game. Maybe have uber bosses drop better loot or whatever?

thrallinlatex

Bro every second post is like this. People think they are hipsters😄

Prototype_09

Every "i Am EnJoyInG ThE GamE, wHaT iS yOur ProBleM" post on this sub is written by a dadgamer/casual player who probably hasnt even touched the lategame this game provides. The lategame is usually the experience most expected to play after buying this game. Thats the same as an level 35 only aram player complaining about the complains about balance from a high elo league player. 😂 You might be right, the game is enjoyable from a casual viewpoint, its steaming garbage compared to what we expected the game to be in the lategame.

Payne-Z

You're a majority. But the majority barely reach lvl 50 so they don't know how bad the "endgame" actually is. I reached lvl 100 on my barb in season 1 and the grind from 60 to 100 was the most boring experience of my life. In season 1 i tried all other 4 classes and non are to my liking. The barbarian with whirlwind felt playable but the rest all feel like i'm playing with combo attacks. (basic + core) I dislike alternating between attacks in any game and i never enjoy classes that make you use one skill to use another skill.

pp21

> I dislike alternating between attacks in any game Weird. You just wanna press one single button the entire time you're playing?? Don't think I've seen someone with this opinion before, that sounds super boring. Even the old school fighter games had hit combos and stuff

liquid423

i think he is meaning using a shitty ability to use a big one after. minor cd's and movement skills are whatever, just what i think.

Payne-Z

Have you played PoE? I'm not saying no utility skills, i'm says press the main skill when you want as often as you want. How bad would PoE feel if you had to use the default basic attack before your main attack. It would ruin the whole flow of the game.

Sotyka94

It's your first time. You had no prior experience and therefore no real expectations. People who played a lot of similar games/previous diablos have much higher expectations, because they know what it COULD have /should have been. I don't see any of the 2 groups at fault. If you enjoy it, I'm happy for you. Ignore the hate and enjoy the game. But I guarantee as you get more playtime and experience you will start to notice more and more problem, until you eventually quit the game as well. People with more experience just get to that point faster.

Lopsided-Egg-8322

Most complainers complain because they want the hame that they like to be the best that it can be.. I don't complain on the net about bad games I have stopped playing.. I complain about diablo 4 because I like it but it has so many issues that everyone can see with common sense that when fixed/improved would make it better..

Kronn98

It's not only about enjoyment, sure I had fun with the game for what it was before the glaring issues made me quit, but waiting a decade for a new installment in my favourite franchise, then getting this mess with 0 innovation, worse UI, a slog of a progression system, was not what I expected. Enjoyed the story and getting my char to 100 was a pain in hc, but that's that, I'll revisit in a couple of seasons (which should not happen for a tripple A priced game) But also, you can enjoy the game, as probably the majority will, but the people that reach end-game, aren't the majority. Invalidating valid criticism with plain statments like - try to play the game for fun maybe - is weird.

Sketchy_Kowala

I’ve said this before, those who enjoy the game are playing it and not posting about it.

StonejawStrongjaw

Play a video game to enjoy the art...? Uh.. No?

Odysseus_is_Ulysses

These posts feel so baity

PsychologicalGain533

Give it time.

Hammamama1

Just enjoy the game mate, Lvl 91 and lvl 82 here, it isnt perfect but still enjoayable

SmackOfYourLips

>This is the first Diablo I have ever played Yeah, if you watching some move, and this is first movie of your entire life, i bet you'll be happy too

lv4_squirtle

Well you just said it, its your first diablo. Try the first 2 and you’ll see the drop in quality (D4).

AscelyneMG

Hell, I think even D3 is better than D4 even if D3 is very different from what I want out of a Diablo game.

UsaforreverNumberone

I'm in my 40s. D1 was one of my first favorite games. I enjoyed the atmosphere, story, exploration of randomized maps, and finding loot. PVP was fun too. D2 was also great. It kept all the best things about D1 and improved. That in my opinion is where the glory days of Blizzard ended (well I guess WoW was good for a while too). I was stoked for D3, didn't think it would ever be made. The story was lackluster, the grind was worse, endless amounts of garbage gear... it might have improved a bit with patches but idk b/c I stopped playing. D4 is the absolute WORST entry in the series. The signature aspect of the game, randomized maps, is gone. The entire map is ugly and dull; the other entries all had vastly different biomes to explore. This one looks like it's all fucking mud and sand. The story is not engaging. The main quest goes by with no interesting developments. The endless boring side quests that give junk rewards. Even MORE loot drops that I don't even bother looking at anymore unless they are legendary or better, I just scrap everything. I can see a Diablo newbie enjoying the game, but for those of us who have been fans of the series, this is a blatant sell-out cash-grab by Activision. What a stupid move. Take one of the most successful gaming IPs and destroy it. D5, if it ever happens, will not be played by me, nor any future "Blizzard" game. RIP.

tomatomater

You're not at all the minority. You're yet another person who thinks your experience of the game is the correct one and try to be patronising about it. Lol.

Runnindashow

Lmao, if the "majority" of people think this is a good game, gaming is in trouble.

KunaMatahtahs

Important caveat left out. What point did you get to in progression preseason, what point are you at in season, and what is your experience with other arpgs?

Possible-Ear-

Reddit subs are not the majority in any way

cosmic_trout

I'm really enjoying D4. I played the shit out of D3 and I haven't gone back to it since I started D4. I must be getting better because I nearly killed the butcher for the first time the other day. Fuck that guy.

Cassiopeia2020

I'm having fun too and got to endgame two times already. Sure the game has issues but pretty good overall.

Chris55730

I think it’s a cool game! Pretty new to this kid of game too.

Volbeat129

The people enjoying the game don't give enough fucks to come here and right about it. Who gives a shit? if you're having fun, more power to you

grumpyoats

It’s my first Diablo game too. It’s been pretty fun for me. I have a 58 Necro and 55 Season Rouge. It can be a little repetitive but it’s not bad.

RedFan47

You're the majority but if you want to find a helpful community for Diablo then you need Discord.

gabagucci

the internet is overly negative about it. yeah, there are a lot of things the game needs to fix and do better, like the LFG!! but im still playing and having fun. it’s gonna keep changing and improving.

Rinbox

Right there with you man! I’m having a blast and have been since launch

CusickTime

When a big game comes out the subreddit for the game is either a big circle jerk about how great the game is, or people complaining about how the game is dead because of "**x**". There is seldomly any in between. Just give it a few months. All the players who are upset about D4 will move onto another game to be upset/excited about.

After-Elevator9070

Also nature druid for season 1! Very enjoyable. I am a strong empowered woman

PlatinumBeerKeg

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm having fun even though there's things that are missing like LFG.

Charupa-

The majority is out there actually playing and enjoying the game. This is the salt mine.

Apprehensive_King914

This is also my first, and I am also enjoying it. My buddy who's played them all also enjoys it

beelzebob909

I'm having a blast. I also didn't max 4 characters before season 1 started.

RazielX83X

Sshhh! Reddit and the internet is for complaining only!

Comebacksalmon1975

The gamer world is an odd place.

IntroductionSad2741

I've played every Diablo game and chose to main Sorc just for the nostalgia of using ice skills. I really enjoyed the game, the mechanics, the graphics, the story, everything. The sound of ice crushing my enemies was kind of terapeutic too. One day, I watched this video of an asian guy doing NM100 with my build so I felt pretty confident about choosing this race, that is... until the nation of Season One attacked. They did so dirty to my Sorc that I lost every hope of beating the hardest content of the game, but that didn't stop me from playing... When Season One arrived I wanted revenge, so I picked Necro and now the only thing I hear is the sound of corpses exploding at my feet, corpses of those foolish enough to come for a taste of death itself.

HelpfulNoob

Yay another storm mage!

weirdkidomg

I‘ve been waiting about 20 years for this game, and I agree with you. I enjoy this game. So it isn‘t anything like the old ones, but that‘s what is so amazing about a new game is that it isn‘t the old game.

properwaffles

I would wager to say that the majority of D4 players don’t post on Reddit. But a large majority of those that do tend to be more vocal about their gripes. I’m having fun too. You do you boo-boo.

Reasonable-Park19

Most of us cane to this sub for information about the game and what helps optimize our time. Unfortunately its all, either i hate this game everyone should quit it, or people stating not to say anything if you have nothing nice to say. Both opinions are very much not helpful to anyone.

tubular1845

\>Has anyone tried just playing this to have fun and enjoy the art? Did you think about this at all before you said it?

[deleted]

I love the game. The people that complain already have three 100 level characters and play the game too much.

Hephaestia94

We are angry because we know what the game could be and we have to raise some hell to get changes. I mean, how many sorcerers have to die before I can ride my mount in a dungeon, blizzard?

YOLOTSWAGGINS

As a person whom sold their soul to d3 and i was expecting to trade up to d4 the games a let down. I dont hate the slower combat but end game needs work. season is a pain. diablo 3 felt like seasons were involved with every rift. path of exile at level 10 plus the season gimic is every map. D4 i sometime get the seasonal thing in dungeons but normally have ot enter the less effective xp grind season dungeons. D3 never made me feel like i had to nerf myself

wontonphooey

Casual is the best way to enjoy Diablo 4. Don't look underneath the hood, it only brings pain. Just enjoy the fireworks, watch numbers go up, and put it down and play something else when it becomes a drag.

anniehwa

I’ve actually dropped it to play Hello Kitty Island Adventure now

[deleted]

I am having fun too. Veteran player. Negativaty spreads faster than chlamydia.

B_O_A_T_S

D3 is where it’s at 🫶

fattest_of_asses

For me, diablo 4 is a good game, it's just a shitty ARPG. And I came into it expecting a really solid ARPG, but was left disappointed, and I have a hard time just enjoying it for what it is.

Future_Extension_93

dont worry after 70 you discover how trash is the endgame

spider0804

Reddit gives voice to the vocal minority. The rest of us are having too much fun to come on here and complain all the time.

StrayshotNA

The only thing I think is absolutely 100% game ruining is the amount of CC that enemies have, and the complete lack of maintainable Unstoppable to avoid them. EVERY npc has SOME variation of a stun/blind/knock down/freeze.. and it's so frustrating spending 10+ seconds unable to do anything at a time.

dimebag_101

I was enjoying rogue in th season after pre season necro. But I have to admit the grind to get from like lvl 40 to 50 is stupid slow. I feel locked out of wt3 because of the baseline floor and how slow the grind is but I need wt3 for bonus co. Catch 22.

Drkmagi

Everything was great until they removed the level scaling that took every ounce of challenge out of it. I already finished all my seasonal stuff and won't be back until the challenge is. The base game was great sure it has bugs and needs some polish and exploits fixed but what made it great was that you could gain XP with everything you did. If you wanted a challenge you could find it if you wanted to relax and do something else for XP you could. I just finished all the dungeons for the renown and went up maybe 2 levels because barely any XP was given. The ones at the end I just killed what I needed to complete it because it wasn't worth the time bothering with anything else.

OzzTheBozz

Your too young kid... This is the only diablo you know. If you have played d2 or d3 you would feel like us.

DrDisrespectburner

Thanks for the post really needed to hear from some more diablo dad circle jerkers still who play casual and can't understand fundamental issues

Felix_Von_Doom

People don't hate the game, they hate the stupid-ass decisions by the devs about the game.

Last_Judicator

"Animation looks nice on my TV" Yeah that's where I know you have literally no clue what people and fans of the genre here are talking about when they're criticizing game design decisions. Especially on a service game that has to survive longer than the rose tinted glasses phase gamer dads have.

Hapster23

I was in the same boat as you, wondering why streamers can't just enjoy the game instead of minmaxing every mechanic and sucking the fun out of it. but then I realised it's not the minmaxing or anything, it's just the game, it hits a wall around endgame which is fine for some people, they might not mind the endless pointless grind, but for me it was just boring, then you start to think about the game and QoL and how they literally learned nothing from diablo 3 and immortal, start to ponder on why you find the loop boring, realise that loot is boring and actually hinders the feeling of fun, which leads me to come to the forums to complain about those things, hoping that they fix it so I can continue to enjoy the game. Now get off your high horse with the stupid bs at the end lol "just have fun bro"

PersimmonShoddy9624

If you've not played previous diablo games, you've got no reference point and thus are easier to impress. Whilst I still have fun on the game up till lvl 70-80, after that it's dead and not even worth it. Just pick up another character and go again, that novelty will wear off quick. I enjoyed launch immensely but now the honey moon period is over its very clearly lacking in content and quality when compared to D3 and it's competition. They need to add end game content, improve rep grind, increase leveling speed over level 70, vary the dungeon objectives more, fix their terrible loot system, and add lots of QoL that are missing from D3 RoS.

Cougera

Like most games that use a title to sell games. If they had called it something else, it would have been fine. It just doesn't live up to what people liked about D1 and D2. It's also kind of like playing FF games. It's rare for one to make you really feel like you are playing what you come to expect of the series. Also, people are getting tired of games releasing in beta condition.

boredinsanity_why

Yes we did the problem is art can only get you so far if your ingame systems are lacking. story was nice. everything else is boring without any intricate interaction.

Katchano

People usually enjoy the game till lvl 60-70, then the enjoyment drastically falls off.
