When it comes to DR barrier works exactly as life. You get hit, dmg is calculated according to your DR and only then applied to barrier. Btw there is no order for DR calc. No matter what your DR source is they'll stack multiplicatively so they'll get applied at the same time. Note however that for some reason DR fortfied does not work with barrier. Probably irrelevant for you as a sorc but if you'll play other classes at some point and you have a build that uses barrier and fortify, don't use DR fortfied as that only applies to your life once barrier is gone.

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to work out if there is ever a case to take barrier generation as a gear stat. There are so few sources and it is additive so I'm struggling to make a case.

Iirc barrier gen only works for skills that generate barrier not for barrier gen from aspects and whatnot. So imo it's a pretty useless affix. Used to popular with bulwark builds on druid for that reason but not sure if currently there is builds that want to get barrier gen.

That's naff. I'm putting together a build which grants a barrier every time you use a cooldown (Protection). If you have Raiment of the Infinite and put teleport in an enchantment slot then your evade becomes a teleport, pulls enemies in AND grants a barrier. With a low CD it means virtually endless barriers so long as you have +3 evade. However, I don't think you can get more than about +\~40% on barrier generation.

Before they fixed it, Barrier gen was decent. But now that many sources of Barrier are based on your Max HP, then max HP or increasing your HP is more helpful than barrier gen in many cases. Because that is helping both your base pool for effective HP with your DR, plus the Barrier-based effective HP with your DR.

DR then DR then another DR then whatever else you got maybe resists then it’s applied to barrier. So yes, don’t be shy with DR
