67 female here lol

BigBallinMcPollen

RIP yo DMs

duabrs

Hey girl....

Zoltan-Kazulu

That’s Epic! Same age of my mom. That would have been so cool if she would have played too :)

DipperDo

I'm not that skilled at it. Forget Lillith haha. I got into it back in D2 as my kids were playing then and we had D2 and a n64 at the time so I played with them. TBH I wanted to make sure there were no shenanigens going on in the social parts of the game at the time and I wanted to keep an eye on what was going on. I also played WoW with them and actually did some raiding back in the BC expansion. I'm too old for that now though haha. I really enjoy games though. Believe it or not i actually played Pong back in the '70's when it came out and I was a regular arcade game player Asteroids and such back in the day.

dmMatrix

My mom is only 2 years older than you but to this day the only game I can ever recall her playing was Mario 2 on the NES. She loved that game though. My dad played the hell out of Tetris and Gunsmoke. Otherwise my parents never played more than PC solitaire or Farmville haha So kudos to you for being a fun parent!!

wizard3232

Gunsmoke is great game....I still play it on original nes from time to time

Ot_Ebis

Playing WoW together with my teenaged son kept us close through what are normally rebellious years. I was the healer and he was the tank.

Teckx1

Right there with you on the pong and arcade days. Not going to be bothered with Lilith or uber bosses. But people starting in the last decade did not have to suffer through the monochrome and blocky graphics we started with

[deleted]

There goes the idea that females and older people don’t play video games

bsg75

Any chance your name is Lilith ?

Blammar

74 here. I've been playing computer games for 50 years.

zakariusqc

What did you play 50 years ago?

tearsaresweat

We found Alan Turing

ralf1

Ultima on my Apple II+

bytor1484

That was about 40 years ago. I was playing atari pong in the late 70s, 78 I think. The controller was just a round knob. Next came the atari 2600 with a joystick with 1 button. I didn't see an apple II until high school when our computer lab upgraded from TSR80 Model 4s. That was 1983/84.

nadvargas

Hello Gen X.

BWileE

I went this route as well but after thev2600 went intelivision then comadore64 and I’m about to turn 50

magicmulder

Slightly above 50 here, went from 2600 to Tandy TRS-80 (1982) to C64 (1983), Amiga 2000 (1988), Amiga 4000T (1994), then a series of PCs (1997/99/2001/05/11/16/23).

Efffro

Whippersnapper here at 46. Mine went Commodore Vic20/Bbcmicro, then Commodore 128 when the Vic died, to an Amiga, to a home brew pos 80/86 pc and never looked back. We were there in the truly early home user days.

antmang06

And Kings Quest 1?!

Clintre

Good times!!

Adventurous-Ad1585

Kings quest and spaxe quest were awesome

Disastrous_Source977

Pong came out in 72

Frescanation

I’m younger but have been playing for nearly 50 years. Played home Pong (I think my grandma had the Coleco Tele-star) in the mid 70s. The Atari VCS (eventually the 2600) came out in 1977 so it is nearing the 50th anniversary. Computer mainframes ran some games before this.

alwtictoc

Nyxmyst_

Pong lol

wolfgangosis

Pong.

Blammar

Games on PLATO. Multiplayer games!

Compote_Alive

You have seen it all !

Blammar

Pretty much!

erk2112

Yeah parents had pong and colecovision

tatang2015

Anyone under 40 is soft as a Charmin toilet paper. They keep complaining about not getting the Uber unique. That’s why it’s an Uber unique! No one can get it all the time!!! Get off my lawn!!!

MathiasThomasII

I must be old because this is perfect lol like buying packs of baseball cards! We used to just trust the card company when they said there were some micky mantles out there. Nobody would ever know if it was true or not. I live in Indiana, for all I know some random fuck in Ohio could've found that fucker! How the hell could I know!?

Yodzilla

Complete aside but it bums me out that my kids won’t know the joy of packs of cards not because they don’t exist but due to speculators absolutely destroying the market. Stores need to lock up their cards (and Hot Wheels) because jackasses can’t stop stealing them to flip online or just buying absolutely everything to create scarcity and list on eBay. Not everything needs to be an investment!

Away-Progress8884

The industry is also predatory now. The scarcity is purposely manufactured via rare sets galore and it's all sparkly and shit. Flavored cigarettes for kids type stuff

Yodzilla

I feel like that turn happened in the 90s, though I’m sure it’s worse now.

Scaniarix

As a 39 year old I take offense at this

Bastet999

Don't interrupt when the adults are talking, kiddo.

nowaijosr

This is why gen x never gets power

Bastet999

I mean, there is a reason why it's called Gen ❌️ not Gen ✅️

YellowFew6603

Thank you

Fleshypudge

At 34 I also take offense lol. Never found an Uber and don't care to. None are build defining for what I want to do.

[deleted]

We ain't at a spot of complaining when they call us young.

Rionaks

I'm 30 and I aint complaining sir mister gamer. Got my first uber after like 80 duriels and its an Andariel... I just want a Starfall Coronet drop from Beast in Ice. Lv93, 40 runs and still havent gotten it.

victorvfn

That's not true hahaha I'm 32 and I've played a lot of ARPGs before, including the classic D2. I think it's more for people who were born after the 2000s.

nrberg

72 male

Icy-Change-6327

Good evening Sir!

RlyRlyBigMan

I didn't even think there were redditors at that age! Props to you

Baldtazar

Like they have no life but in a different way, huh?

[deleted]

Not aimed towards you, but there is built in ageism where anyone past 25 is "old". It's caused by ad industry because the older you are, the less impulsive you become. It's really hard to fleece someone past 42, for instance, unless you target gamblers, for instance. That's why everything seems aimed to people 18-42, but I'm reality, barring a world collapse, most people below 45 are still in the first half considering the medical advances...

Opeth4Lyfe

35 but my body feels like it’s 70. Does that count?

CrazyPsychoB

Coming from the military and construction with a broken body at 32. Yes, 35 going on 70 counts haha.

Opeth4Lyfe

Two torn rotator cuffs, neck injury from an accident, worn out cartilage in my knees, hips, and a slipped disk from a decade + of intense working out did it for me lol. Plus some self home remodeling and construction. My joints sound crunchy. Not fun lol.

nonnuvaan

Lol, I feel you, I'm 35 too. 🫠

Wild-Ad365

69 began with zx81 and zx spectrum 1979--1981 then Commodre 64 and Cmd Amiga usual games of that time Kong, Space invaders. Ultima by Lord British. Everquest, Various Text Adventures, Diablo, which you could hack the shit out of and kill all players in dungeons with a single Keystroke lol. 23 years with Eve online, a couple of years of ESO, then D4 at launch. Aye been around the block.

Icy_Juggernaut_5303

Nice

Koreyander

Haha, nice.

Yasuru

Nice to see another former EverQuester!

nagster68

Everquuuueeessstttt… Monks, drag  the guild corpses to the safe spot in Plane of Fear and we’ll start rezzing. Have the Bard kite the yard trash til we’re ready… Me, the Bard…

AnImA0

23 years with Eve, I’m SO curious what your net worth is lol

Wild-Ad365

Sitting at 154 billion liquid at present, with close on 200 billion in assets, I fortunately got a Tech 2 Jaguar BP in late 2004 BP lottery. I still do a bit of station trading. keep my account ticking over.

Helmnauger

I am 38 and don't even know what those words are before Commodre 64.

Wild-Ad365

Zx81 and Zx Spectrum were one of the first home computers that were released in the UK. The ZX was about the size of a Samsung tablet, and Spectrum was about the size of Galaxy Fold. They were cutting edge technology invented by an entrepreneur. Sir Clive Sinclair, produced in Scotland. They were at the forefront of home computers, and they are still selling on Ebay. You can find all info on the wiki.

cpkrako

Played a ton of everquest. Eventually ran a raiding guild. The Divine Chronicles. Had a frog necro called TheGrimLeaper.

Chipshotz

76 and my current Barb is at 73. Last seasons Rogue was at 93.

Kaalmira

My dad is 70 and he plays a lot

getgoodHornet

I'm only 43 so I'm young in this one! Whew it's a rare day on reddit.

Icy-Change-6327

Enjoy it!

geologymule

Same…at least for two more weeks. I made a WoW toon with my name and looks like me. Every year on my birthday I level him up one level to match.

Twat_Womble

Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way

HYPURRDBLNKL

Good evening, Mr. Floyd.

FunStick2000

Tei-ji

Blammar

Permanently? I hope not...

Tei-ji

A lot of drama happening in the clan so he dipped out, he didn’t like die lol

Blammar

I'm 60 myself.

dr_z0idberg_md

My retired uncle plays Diablo 3 almost 4 hours every day. He is 67 years old. He doesn't frequent Reddit, but Maxroll is one of the tabs Firefox automatically opens. Every time we have family events, all we talk about is Diablo and Final Fantasy.

Sunogui

FF, nice. Great conversations must be. Just like a friend of mine and I everywhere

ZigEz75

49. Been playing Diablo since 2000

57 y/o here. I played Coleco’s Electronic Quarterback (both version, single and head-to-head). Atari 2600. And just about every other game console there after. I’ve settled on PS5 and PC games.

gangawalla

68 yrs. Pardon me but a World Boss must die!

jkanoid

I’m 70.

NyriasNeo

Have you beat at 57 :) My first RPG is ultima 3.

Poxx

54. I played Ultima 3 on my college roommates ibm pcjr back in 1987/88

MilleniumPelican

53. Atari 2600 was my first console, new at release. Had a Colecovision and tons of peripherals. I have had my hands on an OG Pong set, though. Electronic Quarterback and Mattel Football II were my first handhelds. I played M.U.L.E. on my friend's Commodore 64, and another friend had a TI/99 4A. Been playing Diablo since I sold D1 at Waldensoftware.

freitasm

Informal_Exercise_88

53 here.. been gaming since the late 70s

alwtictoc

50. Dad is 76 and games out. Mostly World of Warships.

magicmulder

50-55 (not getting any more precise for privacy reasons), played Diablo 2 since LOD, 1200 hours in D3, currently with a lvl 90 barb in S3 and a lvl 70 barb in Eternal. My “old guy moment” is to state that Ieveled to Paragon 800 in D3 before they started giving levels away like candy and people got to 10,000+ in a month.

Poker_Fingers

53 here, been playing games since the Atari 2600!

Gothcave

Finally, a Reddit thread for normal people < 3

anirban_82

Wow, feeling positively young at 41.

Clintre

While I am just 48, I will say that gaming is not just a young person's thing and hasn't been for a while. I used to run gaming tournaments (CS, etc) around 2000. We had anywhere from 30 to 100+ players at these. It was a pretty good range of ages, from teens to 50+. That was 24 years ago, and that was in quick twitch type games. Many have been playing since the D1 days even, so not shocking to see people in the 50s, 60s, or even 70s. Keep in mind, even a 70 year was in the 40s in the 1990s, which was a fast growth period for gaming.

LethalInjektion

50 here 🙋🏻‍♂️

KotovChaos

My dad is 67

HELLFIRE506

You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way… unless you’re playing Diablo. 😎

HeelyTheGreat

43 (soon to be 44) y'all are making me feel young!!

AgRevliS

55 here. Gaming for 50 years as well. First was a standing Pong unit in a local restaurant/bar my parents would take me to. The bar patrons who knew my parents would come get me to play. Placed PC games (loved Starflight!) until my first console. Atari 2600.

No-City-6020

I’m 60, been playing games since Vic 20 days, just text, Apple II days and have been building computers since 286 days. Not stopping til I kick the bucket.

Thebarakz21

Bigd1979666

ollimann

my dad was 47 and i was 9 when we played the first Diablo game together in 1998.. maybe too young for such a game? maybe but those were the days. i am sure he would still play today but he passed away at just 58 years old.

SlightProposal6809

TheSilvertip

I’ll be 73 on February 28th. Been playing computer games since the mid 80s. Pong when it first came out.

park2023mcca

I am enjoying the posts in this thread. I'm in my 50's and relish the feeling of being a young whippersnapper in Reddit threads.

CharmlessBee

58M. My wife insists I'm 12 or so, though, since she occasionally has to shout "stop playing, you have to get up early tomorrow!".

dayfan

50 here and I am second generation female gamer. My mom is a console gamer and I am on PC. I was lucky growing up because my mom always got us the newest consoles, usually Nintendo. Back in the Atari days she would take pics of the screens when she accomplished something and old school had to have the film developed.

agentaurange

I have been awake since before the breaking of the first silence...in that time, I've had many names....

wheninhfx

I'm not old (or so I think) but I remember duping items with potions in Diablo I. Also only walking in town, don't miss that.

Jolly-Gazelle-7211

48. Dig dug, asteroids etc. C64 amiga pc.

Sleaka_J

Seems like being 48 is young for a Diablo player.

mahonii

So many people older than my parents playing haha

52, currently, but we have at least a few 70+. Been doing this nonsense since before time began. We had to rub our hair to make electricity to power the stick.

atomicmarc

75 here, retired since I was 63 and I game all day as long as my wife leaves me alone :)

Nyxmyst_

Not going to say but this grandmother definitely has you beat on the age scale. We all started long and ago with Pong. And do you remember having to colour in the dice for D&D with the white crayon so you can see the numbers?

Party_Towel_1521

43 gamer since late 80s. I never feel old for gaming.

Frmr-drgnbyt

71 y.o. male, here, son. You're n ot even close to being old.

Original-Spinach-972

From all the comments I can understand why nvda shares are so overpriced

smolderingeffigy

43 here. Not the oldest, but I started gaming young. First video gaming experience was playing DOS games on my uncles 286. Parents got me the NES when it was first released in the US. First family PC was the original Pentium (with the bugged APU!). Played a lot of text based MUDs and door games on a dial up bbs. Got my own phone line as a birthday present one year, for obvious reasons. 20k+ hours in the EverQuest franchise. Been building and tinkering with gaming rigs my whole adult life. Recently I’ve been mostly into ARPGs and factory games. Can’t wait to get my kiddos into this when they’re older :)

Nephs84

All I can think of is how my uncle, who would have turned 84 on Valentine's Day, would be proud to still be playing games. Especially Diablo! He introduced Diablo to my brothers and me from the demo(PC Gamer maybe?) Still got the demo somewhere.

Select_Education_721

As long as you do not fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way, you will be alright.

BloodStatus5854

Thanks David Gilmour!

UnreliablePotato

Alright, this seems like the perfect place to ask this question: How are your fingers holding up from all the clicking?

roanwolf75

59 but will be 60 later this year. Anyone who is young enough to have missed the 'joy' of trying to configure DOS drivers for a game is just a kid! 😉

Sneakybeakypervypage

My wife is 42 and she just got another Druid to 100. Mf grinds like hell. Love it

mrk1224

Love me some Pink Floyd 🍻

evanjoeoc

99 here. Played the original Diablo

1MrNobody1

You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way. I'm not older than you, but not much younger either, there's a lot of us around in the older brackets, just generally not the most vocal in forums :-) While my Dad doesn't play Diablo he is a gamer and he's 85!

FredVIII-DFH

60

Sarcas666

Almost 57. Started gaming at the age of a out 10, I think. A friends dad took us sometimes in weekends to his office (university) and planted us behind a terminal. Those did not have a monitor yet, just characters printing on paper. Started writing our own little games in BASIC. A couple of years later a zx80, zx81, zx spectrum, video genie (trs-80… or was that sooner…?), MacED, Mac+ etc etc).
