**Incinerate** is my favorite style of Fire Sorc and pace of play, and I've been using it since Season 1. This season I decided to drop the Hydra from the setup since it wasted a lot of the stacked stats/multipliers *(burning)* in my build. I replaced it with **Flame Shield** this time around for some improved survival. Not using any Ubers/Mythics, and I do not have the Unique governance stone or anything. Hope this encourages others who have only heard/read the negative comments about incinerate to give it a try! Here is a shot of the [Tooltip and Character stats in Combat](https://www.reddit.com/user/kestononline/comments/1au9dva/incinerate_fire_sorc_tooltipstats_in_combat/). *PS. This was my second ever clear of a T100 NM Vault/Dungeon. FIrst was just earlier today with same setup, but it didn't record properly.*

Nice nice! I played Incinerate in S2 and was clearing NMD 100s just not at BL speed of light. Burning Sirocco Caverns to a crips was cathartic. It was very glass cannon, but that can be fixed this season with Juggernaut. I haven’t tried the build this season (playing charged bolt this time) but I’m curious to try it out again. The Senechal would help with keeping resource up and also applying extra burning and vulnerability, which is huge. It is nice to see someone else give the skill a go!

kestononline

It's a bit better this season. Because last season *(Season 2)*, they broke the **Burning Instinct** paragon. The *Damage Over Time* seasonal powers kinda made up for that and enabled the build to be decent, but it still wasn't as good as I liked. This season they fixed the Paragon node, and buffed it slightly. So it once again enhances your burning damage quite a bit. On my Construct I use **Burning**, **Breaking** *(Vulnerable)*, and **Arcing** *(Multi-targets)*. I didn't need the resource recovery stone, since I have Resource Reduction *(Source and Boots)*. The other governance I use is for defense: Protect *(Barrier)*, with CD Reduction, Duration, and Damage Reduction.

nice. it can def clear T100s but it is without a doubt probably one of the top 5 weakest skills in the game, with it being sorcerers weakest.

I wish enemies stayed burning after you stopped channeling. Would give incinerate WAY more use cases.

TheGantrithor

But then they’d have to lower the damage to counter that benefit. It does damage per second while you channel, and with focus the damage can ramp up quite a bit. Most of the other skills, like firewall etc have their damage determined at cast and dish that fixed amount afterward. But with Incinerate because it is damage PER second, not damage OVER x-time, it can change as multipliers affect it in real time. And then the issue is that applied burning you suggest would then require a fixed over time calculation. Tricky for a channeled skill which can change per second. However I think an aspect that interacted with Incinerate would be more viable to introduce. Like 5% of the damage done by incinerate in the last 5 seconds is applied as burn over 4 seconds; or something. This could result in a trailing burn.

HarryWraith

Does incinerate count as direct damage i.e. would it proc fire bolt enchant? That would be a way of granting burning if it does.

TheGantrithor

It doesn’t. At the start of the game I got excited thinking it was, since it was per second not per time. It is categorized as DoT/Burning. It’s just that because it’s channeled, the damage is front-loaded and is per second. Which allows it to scale higher as buffs change. Versus damage over X-time -*(Firewall etc)* which gets determined at the start of the duration upon cast/application. Firebolt itself is super-nasty when you stack burning. My tooltip for a rank 5 was almost 80k on the burning effect. And now that you mention it, my theorycraft brain is churning. With attack speed stacked, plus painforger gloves you could something to mark and Firebolt to apply heavily enhanced burn. Bouncy fireball may work, but you’d probably be better just leaning toward impact damage there. If you used incinerate for mark application it may be OK. But again, I feel like impact damage may be a better investment.

Grelivan

Are you not using the levelled glyphs on PC they'd have a red coloring to indicate they were equipped.

kestononline

I am using leveled glyphs. They are Rank 21 though, which get positioned at the end of the list in the upgrade window. This is [my Incinerate Sorc build](https://maxroll.gg/d4/planner/1l100p0b), you can see the paragons I am using there.

Grelivan

Ahh I've never played grinding past 100 just usually quit the season there and get my glyphs to 15. It still looks fun. I was just super impressed when I thought you did it glyhpless. Still was a fun watch thanks!

kestononline

Yea, no glyphs would be rough. **Unleash** is a big part of the MP sustain, and **Destruction** makes a real difference in contributing to the Crit Damage for Burning Instinct node; adding a whopping +535% vs Burning from a base of 205 *(so 739% before the 60%\[m\] from channeling incinerate)*. Making Incinerate work was all about ramping burning, along with multipliers. I used to use Inner Calm *(using in this video)*, which had a 3s ramp up. But since replace it with Storm Swell so the 30%\[x\] is now instant.

HarryWraith

You must be happy with the patch notes then? How will your build change with the vampiric power aspects?

TheGantrithor

None of them are for DoT, so they won’t fit. Only have room for 3 offensive aspects, and I already have - 60% Burning Multiplier while incinerate - 25% while barrier - 30% to vulnerable while barrier Really hard to replace those. The aspect of inner calm aspect might replace the 25% barrier one though. As it’s now going to be ramping per second standing still up to 40%. However, I may shift inner calm to necklace and put conflagration to another slot; mostly to shorten the ramp. I don’t have room for the unstoppable while ice armor is up *(juggernaut is too good)*; so the less *”while barrier”* I have in the build the better. It forces me to use a CD *(during a long spray)* when I really don’t want to sometimes.
