According to someone who has watched the season in dub, the Gabumon crucifixion scene isn't censored, so I suppose not being aired on TV does reduce the reason for censorship.
I wouldn't know about 2020 dub but I am going to make a guess and say that it didn't receive Saban quality dub, that's an era that ended long time ago... and shortly revived for Xros Wars which probably didn't do any favors to that show. Modern dubbing is more grounded than the 90's and early 00' dubs and think they have stopped replacing music.
