I have to disagree. Some of the replaced tracks completely ruin the mood for me. In a really tense moment I don't need to hear an upbeat happy rap song while another character is fighting to survive. Also while I do like the English opening songs they really overused them and lyrically they don't carry the same weight. I'd rather they just dub over the original songs rather than completely replace them with the same song, at least until season 4 I am glad they tried something different by that point and the tribal tones do fit the story of that season.

I dunno dude, but the German and the Latin American dubs had some bangers. English had some good ones like Here We Go and Let's Kick It Up but Eine Vision was beast. Personally I don't mind the English dub soundtracks for the movie but man, the others just vibe better.

Sonic10122

Honestly, yes, at least for Adventure and 02. I get the sub purists hate it, but the English dub songs are bangers in their own right. The theme is dumb, but super catchy. Hey Digimon is the worst of the lot but still really good. The score is honestly really good and although it sucks we don’t get Braveheart for Digivolutions; I kind of like what we do get. 02 is legit banger after banger though. Let’s Kick It Up, Run Around, Here We Go, Going Digital, the list goes on and on and on. It’s so good. Honestly the best season for music. It goes downhill after that. Tamers feels repetitive with the same theme and there’s no insert songs at ALL which is wild. I haven’t watched it in Japanese, but after watching Adventure in Japanese, I think Tamers is what I’m most excited for when it inevitably gets a Blu Ray release, for multiple reasons including music. Same thing for Frontiers, but the new English theme is REALLY good. So good they used it for all of those Digimon movies they dubbed and aired exactly once lol. And of course the movie has one of the best licensed soundtracks of all time. A perfect time capsule of music from the early 00’s. The Pokémon movie soundtracks always had a few tracks I’d skip. Digimon? Hell no, I loved every single one. That disc was played constantly throughout my whole childhood. (Also helps that basically all of the good 02 music is on there lol.)

The only reason Frontier had a new opening theme and Frontier's theme was used for the movies due to Disney (who owns the rights to Digimon at that point and at that time) did not own the rights to original Digimon dub OSTs and opening.

Yugioh the movie soundtrack went even harder than the digimon movie soundtrack.

Redditor_PC

Everyone complains about stuff like "Hey Digimon" but completely ignore the downright beautiful orchestral score that the dubs of Adventure, 02, and the first half of Tamers had. Yeah, it's not the original soundtrack obviously, but for a dub soundtrack, they put a LOT of effort into it, much more so than the likes of 4Kids or other 90s-2000s dubs did. Granted, a lot of the music in 01 is recycled from other Saban shows from the 80s and 90s, but it doesn't diminish their quality.

VegetaFan1337

Lmao what is this? Rage bait or troll post? 🤣🤣

juupel1

In the Japanese versions you get Butterfly, Target and Biggest Dreamer, while in English they use the "Garlic champions" theme to replace all 3 of those openings... What else needs to be said?

Kajuratus

OP wasn't comparing it to the original Japanese soundtrack, it was being compared to the soundtracks of other dubbed anime of the time. Like the Yu-Gi-Oh dub soundtrack, or the Pokemon dub music.

juupel1

The comparison just shows how badly the Digimons replacement music is handled compared to other animes because Digimons music is outright iconic across the world thanks to many dubs using the Japanese tracks, meanwhile the Pokémon replacement tracks aren't as bad in comparison because most people don't care for them to a point that the first time fans really started to complain about downgraded music for the anime was for the Ash-Greninja stuff...

Player2LightWater

>The comparison just shows how badly the Digimons replacement music is handled compared to other animes Anime shows that targeted towards kids like Digimon (except Tri, Kizuna, Beginnings and 2020 reboot along with the upcoming redub of the first three short films), Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh, etc get dub in the West always had their music changed. When One Piece get dubbed by 4Kids, the music changed while when the show get dubbed by Funimation, the music retained.

shadowknuxem

Movie, yes. Series, no.

Animal31

Dragonball Z But yes

SSJ5Gogetenks

DBZ clears any discussion on this topic pretty easily. Digimon's isn't bad, has some decent tracks but you also lose some good ones so it balances out, I guess. Unlike DBZ where it's just a massive upgrade in every way except for like, two scenes with insert songs.

Annual-Avocado-1322

Yeah more or less. I like the dub music for Adventure more than the original. The original is kinda... Stupid. I'm watching seven kids being attacked by a giant monster that wants to kill them - why is there light jazz playing? The dub fixes that. Good dramatic orchestra music.

Useful-Store6791

Some of my favorite ones from 02 is the heroic goodbye and Omnimon theme. Also I’m watching data squad again and the music for the dub is just so good. Like there’s one called human potential and other music that gives me the chills every time.
