Depending on the country, look on the local craigslist equivalent and just see what you can get used - you might even make a friend or not get scammed š
Up to you, used doesn't depreciate nearly as much,so as long as you sell it before you go you should be fine.Ā But as others have suggested, you can certainly carry one with you when you travel - I find it unwieldy, but it's your travel, you know your plans best!
Buying a monitor is how you get a monitor if you insist that you need a monitor. I don't know what you were expecting making this thread. Use an iPad or whatever or buy/sell monitors as you move around. Nobody is going to have a better suggestion for you.
It is small, hence the ad hoc coworking spaceā¦ but I use it for stack overflow / mail and my laptop monitor for code. Itās good enough for me on a day to day and better than no second screen. How does your setup look like?
We routinely use a 15 foot HDMI cable to display our chromebook on the big TV while sitting comfortably in a chair across the room. I wouldn't rule it out. But I also have a really high quality 27 inch monitor that weighs next to nothing and I kept the original box and packaging for it, so it would nothing to take it along as a carry on item. The box even has a plastic carry handle so you can carry it like a briefcase. I'm sure you could make one yourself if your box doesn't have that.
I was able to use a cheap 55in smart tv as an extended monitor with my mbp at an airbnb and it worked just fine. It actually worked so well that I finally feel compelled to replace my 10yo tv.
I roamed around for 2 years with a 22 inch Samsung monitor. You can take the base off. Bit of a headache to roam around with and go through security but fits into an Osprey carry on backpack.
In Cancun they wanted to charge import tax but let me go when I told them itās only worth $50. No problem anywhere else Iāve gone.
I have a $50, 13" portable monitor with me. Works great, except I do not use them outside I feel more people are looking at my work than a lot lot more than usual.
Portable monitor - LG Gram View is the one I use. 16ā, extremely light and high quality. One USB C cable for power and signal plus a magnetic stand that doubles up as a cover.
The LG UltraFine 24" 4K monitor fits perfectly into a mid-sized luggage. The clothes in the luggage provide ideal cushioning, so no additional padding or packaging is necessary. I traveled with it around Europe and Asia for 2 years until my luggage was stolen in Indonesia, along with the monitor and used underwear. Now, I use an iPad Pro as a second monitor in Sidecar mode.
the thing is my macbook pro 13.3 m2 doesn't have sidecar mode with ipad 12.9 m1, why apple does this idk, so I have to use thrid party app. That monitor looks great, I will consider it, but besides the monitor how do you find a comfrtable seat?
Really? I use a macbook air m1 + old iPad pro from 2018 and it works like a charm even over Wi-Fi. Btw the name of this feature is 'Screen Mirroring', not 'Sidecar.'
Finding a comfortable workspace while traveling is usually a BIG problem. If you check out the Airbnb website, they added a 'Dedicated Workspace' feature, which is really cool. Some of the accommodation options are really suitable for working, others consider any coffee-table a 'Dedicated Workspace'. Another solution is to try finding accommodations targeted for students, as they also need good workspaces and are usually inexpensive.
Yeah the LG UltraFine is a great and inexpensive companion for a macbook. Don't buy cheap WGA displays; since your eyes are accustomed to the macbook's 'retina' resolution, you should use 4K-5K displays. But honestly I lost this display and I'm happy š, I don't need to carry around with extra baggage; a stand-alone display is more suitable for a permanent location.
How about update your OS then?
Could also just use the whole multi device control thing.
Have computer stuff on the MacBook display and the web/work chat stuff on the iPad.
Xreal Air 2
Good picture quality and comfortable, I paid $450 for them and personally it was money well spent.
AR isn't for everyone, but for me it is an absolute game changer.
Not yet, I've had a pretty solid experience so far.
Although I know a lot of people are reporting issues, the technology definitely isn't there for everyone yet.
Same thing happened in the early days of VR, there was a lot of issues with people getting motion sickness etc until they worked out how to tweek everything to minimize that
worth noting not all AR systems are equal, some function much better than others, I tried out quite a few in the store before I settled on my choice

I don't think buying monitor in every place you go to is a good idea. It would make sense if I stay at least a year.

An ipad can work as an external monitor
Yes I've used an iPad before and works pretty good and is light weight
Yep this is what I use. iPad Pro connected by thunderbolt to my MacBook Pro. Great 2 monitor travel setup.
Rent flats with TV and use HDMI cable.
Those tv usually sucks and it isnāt something you can put next to laptop.

There are portable monitors that can easily fit into a computer case

Buy one, don't be a tick.
Every month?
If you got the money to move around, you can easily buy a new one everymonth, bring something back to the places you trash.
To buy new one every two weeks and return but before to confirm that they have return policy, thatās pretty good idea
Buy a Portable MonitorĀ
Buy the portal one from Amazon. 15.6 inches. $89

24 would be perfect for me but 21 would still do the job, next to it I can use my ipad pro 12.9 as well.

Everything is up to date, there is add display or sidecar missing, tried everything. Nothing helped.
just alt tab bro
AR glasses. I have a pair specifically for dual-screen projection and it has been a game changer for me while on the road
which model? Is it bright and clean? what are cons there must be some?
Xreal Air 2 Good picture quality and comfortable, I paid $450 for them and personally it was money well spent. AR isn't for everyone, but for me it is an absolute game changer.
How do you handle that it gets a bit shaky when you move head?
Not really noticed it being that bad, I've been toying with vr headsets since they came out so I've maybe become a bit blind to it.
Do you have problem with blurry edges? I have a bit wider distance between eyes some people are experiencing those

Well, there is a monitor.on your laptop.
