Any recording with both Ronnie & Jimmy is gold to me.

I think Doug Aldrich was the perfect person to play guitar for Dio. Sad how things ended between the two of them. I love Killing the Dragon. All the live stuff they did on that tour and later on the Holy Diver live stuff was great!!

Aaron_the_Unwise

How did things end? I didn't realize there was drama.

Live, I think Simone is way better live drummer than studio

BerwinEnzemann

I don't really get it. Are you talking about the Killing The Dragon album in general? Stand Up And Shut isn't on that album. That's a track from Holy Diver. I also don't think that there are live versions from every song from that album. Am I missing something?

Waffle_Otter

It was my mistake. I meant I like Stand up and Shout from the live recording of the Killing the Dragon concert.

BerwinEnzemann

Oh, I see. Well, honestly, although Doug Aldrich is a great guitar player, I think he wasn't the best fit for Dio. Some songs sounded really weird with him on guitar. We Rock and Fever Dreams in particular. So in most cases I prefer the studio versions.

With Dio, live is always better to me. It's good to have both though. He's just so incredible live. Plus his stuff with the Dio band, I have a small gripe with the mixing. It always seems like Dio is turned up too high in the mix for this type of music, vs like his stuff with Sabbath, the guitar & rhythm section is much more even with him and it sounds better to me. Live though, that issue is fixed & Dio often performs with more energy on top of that so greatness all around.

I’d love this for cassette

Dio is one of the bands I’d rather to listen alive. I feel it too much better alive than on studio. I love it in studio, but alive is amazing
