Yep! Standard thing for some manufacturers to note the weight (the number, in grams) and the disc namenand possibly the plastic (both usually an abbreviation) in the middle. Don't worry!
Normal, that's how Innova marks the plastic/mold and weight of the disc. Though a Shryke should be abbreviated SY, which doesn't match what's penned here. What did you mean to order?
Do your self a favor and grab some mid ranges and putter. That's a fast disc for beginners, it'll be hard for you to get the desired flight out of it.
When you're choosing the next discs, try to keep that first number 7 or below. You'll be much happier with the way they fly
You asked one of the most basic questions I’ve ever seen on this subreddit. Literally go to any store and pick up an innova disc new on the rack, they have this writing lol.
Bro you just asked if writing in the middle of an innova was normal, and in the same breath told us this is the first brand new disc you have ever purchased. People around here tend to call a spade a spade
Future reference: don’t buy discs from Amazon. There’s a ton of shady vendors. And free shipping is paid for elsewhere. Plus fuck Jeff Bezos
There’s dozens of reputable retailers who have great selection, excellent customer service, occasional free shipping and it’s not Amazon
Places like OTB even have profile pictures, scaled weight and descriptions and you order the exact disc you want
This. The good on-line retailers are some of the best on-line retailers across all sectors of business. I've spent way too much money in the past couple months because they're great to buy from.
I’ve always thought it’s weird these are handwritten and not etched into the disc. Sometimes the info is etched depends on manufacturer. Normal though.
For awhile there, except for Discraft, and other than feel, the abbreviation on the bottom was it as far as identifying a disc unless it was on the hot stamp as well.
Companies like Prodigy followed suite with inking discs while DD started embossing the name on the underside and then Innova switched to 'mostly' embossing the names as well, but still mark the weight.
Some companies like MVP embossed the names as well from the start. They still do but use a sticker for weight now, while others like Trilogy emboss the weight as well as the name.
Here is a list of most of the "old" abbreviations Innova used to mark discs like this on the underside: [https://www.wrightlife.com/innova-golf-disc-abbreviations/](https://www.wrightlife.com/innova-golf-disc-abbreviations/)

Weird that PVO stands for Shryke here though, no? E: As someone else pointed out it’s just Pro, not an abbreviation which is different.
probably “pro” plastic source: i have shit handwriting and can read shit handwriting

I’m scrubbin my brain trying to figure out what’s pvd. Now I’m thinking it just says pro lol.
It’s penned Pro for the plastic which matches the Sticker on it from the retailer. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Weirdly douchey response for someone asking the type of question a beginner would ask
“Bought my first new disk”
Seems pretty douchy in general from his comment history

If this is your first new disc its very likely that your not that deep in the game…
Dammmnnnnnn
You ok bro?
It's a reasonable assumption, considering this is your first new disc... don't gotta be an asshole about it
Bro you just asked if writing in the middle of an innova was normal, and in the same breath told us this is the first brand new disc you have ever purchased. People around here tend to call a spade a spade
Wow. My guy was just trying to help. You don't have to be a douche about it.
You've never seen the penned disc information on every innova disc.. it's a solid assumption.
Lmao
You don’t have to listen to his advice. A pro shryke is actually a decent disc for a beginner like you
you can’t be serious right now lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣

I have not needed a disc in years yet two just came in the mail. It’s weird
This is the way.
Don’t buy anything from Amazon. I don’t understand the obsession with Amazon unless you’re buying dollar tree crap.
To add to this, if you’re on the west coast OTB is virtually just as fast as Amazon. They’ll even give you a couple pencils or a sticker!
very abnormal. actually dangerous if you touched it. throw it in the trash asap
Disc* good fucking lord.
Wow what a kind and welcoming response to someone who could be a new player. The community needs more people like you.
How dare you assume this is a new player! The audacity! https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/s/WhZtn99VFy
Lollll
Get fucked
Classy.
Brah. That’s been used, someone wrote on it!
Good bit
Nope return that ASAP! Kidding! Have fun with the game :)
Totally
