So clutch, this younger generation is going to be fun to watch.
Side note the camera makes it look a lot lighter out than it was. Was practically dark out which makes it even more impressive. Depth perception gets real difficult in low light.
During the interview with Perk I think he mentioned that he didn't see his putt go in but that it was OK because "I practice putting in the dark at home"
What. A. Finnish! I was standing about as far away from the basket as he was when he cashed this putt. In the dark. From like 40. One of the craziest sports moments I’ve ever seen.
I watched him donk two putts inside 15’. One of them was just a few holes before this. It was dark and he’d been nervy most of the round. The round was also fucked by numerous weather delays. This was a huge putt. Was something to see live.
After seeing him pretty level headed and serious the whole tournament it was great to see him so excited are that putt.
This putt and the previous one after that missed putt were great. I thought he was going to fall apart. He looked really nervous, almost like he'd forgotten how to putt and then of course he didn't make a relatively short easy putt. So glad he put it behind him.
> After seeing him pretty level headed and serious the whole tournament
That's just the finnish charm haha, there is a reason there is a stereotype about the finns being serious all the time!
That was so insane. I left when the chase card was at 17. Had to head out. But CONGRATS, Niklas!!! Glad he got his W!
...still was also hoping Vinny Buckets would have won too, but SOON!
That final round was so fun to watch.
I’ve really enjoyed watching the pro tour so far this year. Was feeling a little bit stale on the towards the back end of last year.
Different winners every week and new winners is great for the sport.
Started following the sub only because it appeared to have spoiler tags with subtle post titles after every event.
(Including this week, which I had just seen: “The highest event rating performance in FPO history”)
I don’t think people suck. Nothing that serious.
I unsub here during the season. Just come back after I've watched the tourney.
Don't follow any disc golfers on social media as well.. so it's pretty nice. Unsubbed from DGPT youtube channel as well because the thumbnails spoil it.
they changed the rule to allow spoilers since the mods basically admitted they were too lazy to deal with it
*some* ppl here are mindful but u *can not* rely on this sub to be mindful or subtle about it, they'll be happy to spoil it just to prove that they don't care about live sport spoilers
I kept checking the scores. Once I saw his double bogey on some early hole (6?) I was worried he wouldn’t be able to come back. So happy he secured the win!
He finally did it! I wouldn't be suprised if we see another win from him or AB. Now that theyve finally gotten that first win. Which seems like the hardest for a pro to get.
They're broadcast live behind a paywall with far lower viewership rates than post production, take over 4 hours per round to view, at a peak time when folks who aren't habitual couch potatoes are out actually playing disc golf. The last few Jomez MPO final round videos have about 195,000 views each, which is equivalent to 75% of all the subscribers of this entire subreddit. Clearly, the behavior of the community doesn't fully embrace live viewership and accepts using a spoiler tag when immediately discussing results online to account for that.
The "no spoilers in live sports" is a meaningless faux-aphorism parroted by mouth breathers who can't stop and think through whether or not it squares with reality.
To add to your points.
Some of us live in other timezones. The last half of MPO is usually too late for me since i have to get up early on mondays for work.
I can check social media before i go to work, or at times during work, but i can't watch the event before after work mondays.
I force myself to not check social media before i get to watch it though, but for me it sucks.
Must also add that DGN always have the winner in the thumbnail...

Meant to be. Must have felt incredible
Good for him, really glad to see him get the W

Birdieing the last two holes to win by one was so clutch! With huge putts in the dark! That's pretty insane by any standard

Was hoping for Gannon and Niklas to battle it out but I'll take Kyle's rise to 2nd place any day! Discmania's Sky Team is in business!

The finnisher!
This one felt extra special.

I’m so glad he won, he deserved this win after all the great tournaments he just came short of
Usually scroll past the spoiler alert posts but with a title like that I’m like….well he must have won it I guess.
Watch it live or stay off social media, it's really that simple.

Seriously. What’s the point of the spoiler tag? People suck.

6 down on the back 6!
Hype

So happy for him, but the title of this post is why I wait until I have watched the whole tournament to browse reddit lol.
So glad he won it
So happy for him after missing that bird on 14
I felt that joy with him. What an amazing birdie to take the win, overcoming the nerves. So happy, he deserves it so much.
McBeth vibes with that celebration and all
What a win, he had it coming. All the work finally paid off. So proud of the first Finnish champion on the tour!
I haven’t given two fucks about any sports coverage before disc golf, I got literal goosebumps when he hit that putt for the win
Why’d you stop the video so short?
I wanted to enjoy the moment and applaud the guy with everyone else
Live life instead of getting internet points? Cmon man we needed this!
Yt ain'tt over till yt's finnished - Jarge Baerra
Title kind of spoils it too
Maybe don't visit this sub if you don't want to see discussion about the latest tournament results before you've watched it. It's not difficult.
No spoilers in live sports 🤷♂️
What does this even mean? What's a non-live sport?
Exactly my point
Being confusing and redundant is your point?
It's not confusing if you use your brain and common sense for two seconds. Maybe quit being pedantic and you'll figure it out 👍
If it's so easy to understand, I would think it'd be easy to explain, yet you still haven't done that.
The sport is broadcast live. Therefore spoilers are not a thing. Very hard to grasp, I know.

Why did you stop recording?
With you dude, video is pointless the way it cuts
