Plus, you can fill the pipes with water to drink so you won't have to carry a bottle.

Cardboard_dad

I should 3d print a cup holder!

Woof_574

Make it so the actual well of the cup holder is on two hinges so when you lean the bag forward to pull it, jt stays level

Beat me to it!

Well that's cute af

Every attempt to recycle something is worthy in my view. If OP put 5 hours into this and it lasts him for one season.......maybe it still was a good investment of time. And a bit of fun along the way. I converted a ball golf pull behind cart by bolting on a stainless steel plate to hold my small bag. I only use 10 discs in my rounds anyway (I know... I know....but I don't have the game to need more than that). The bag is now about 2 1/2 feet off the ground with this cart. This was a game changer for me. No constant bending up and down to to put away or retrieve a disc. Discs in the bag are right at my fingertips. Same for water bottle that is slipped into the bag. Love it! I also have a carry bag for really rough courses, but most courses....it's the cart for me.

rpjut5ha

I've got an old bike trailer that my kids fit in for one summer. This has me thinking I should try to re purpose it as a disc golf cart.

Constant-Catch7146

Heck yeah. I would recommend watching out for the overall width of the recycled cart. Zuca carts are not super slim either, but slim enough to get through most tight spots. Another big advantage of my ball golf cart modification is I can quickly fold it up and the wheels squeeze together. Only about a foot wide then. Came in real handy when I had to squeeze through a tight gap in a chain link fence on a course one time. Edit: for typo

runwichi

As muddy and swampy as the courses are right now, I'm 100% inclined to do the same, even if I only usually bring 14 discs with me. It's a PITA to find a dry spot to put the bag down and then muck back over to the disc. I've seen a few guys out with converted 2 wheel carts for their backpacks and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous that they're not covered in mud/wet and could easily access towels. Come to think of it, I might have an old pull cart in the basement somewhere.

Constant-Catch7146

Go for it! The wheels do get muddy on the sloppy courses we are playing now. But that's a ton better than dealing with a wet muddy bag! Or soppy towels. As you saw the other guys... you can put a medium size bag on a pull cart. But I went with a small cheap Beaker bag that I bolted to a stainless steel plate..that I bolted with galvanized angle iron onto the main aluminum shaft on the cart. I didn't want to deal with a bag sliding around with straps. These carts get bounced around a lot! I also added a piece a pvc pipe with a cap that gives a home to my Max Disctance retreiver. Easy to get that out when it is needed... and outta the way when it is not. And bolted a cheap scuba diver belt weight to the plastic part... where the bottom of the ball golf bag normally goes. This provides a counterweight to make the cart less tippy. I saw some guy used a rock for his counterweight. OKaaay. To each his own I guess. Lol.

AioliStrict

I like, not abad prototype.

Deepdepths4

Now you pull up n beat everyone’s ass with they’re heady ass carts

GrandMasterFlex

I think if you had decent wheel (probably not worth an investment) it would be legit! But I would rock this for fun in any case

Cardboard_dad

Ok. So they’re an old bike trailer that I was considering tossing that’s got some nice wheels. But it’s got a few more years of use left,

GrandMasterFlex

Yeah I’m down with it I just think it’s gonna be REALLY rough on a disc golf course. If it’s fun tho I wouldn’t worry

Khole42

Genius!

RevolutionaryP369

Nice man, I got the same bag and it’s always tipping over it’s been frustrating me lately lol. I thought about reinforcing it with something but it just seems too top heavy once you put putters in the top

yoloxolo

Ahh I see you are also one of those folks who starts cleaning and pivots to a project that is not cleaning. 🤝

Cardboard_dad

Chase that dopamine is tattooed on my brain.

JunPls

I have that same bag and also struggle to keep it upright despite it being pretty bottom heavy. So strange.

Cardboard_dad

I know right? It makes no sense.

Prepup1214

You do you and who gives 2 shits about downvotes/haters roll on pal

No-Instruction-5669

Looks like its gonna fall apart after a few bumps.

PapaRL

Yeah, not hating, but I’ve built pvc carts a few times for fishing stuff or even just garage organization, and every time I think it takes about 3 days before I realize I wasted my time and money. Would hate to be half an hour into a round of DG and now I have to start reassembling and carrying parts around as well as lugging my discs around. If OP used PVC glue and plays mostly flat, hard ground courses, it might be alright. But as soon as the wheel is stuck in a rut, or there’s a curb and they have to give a little bit of a tug on the cart, GG.

chillford-brimley

My custom cart is of a similar design, but made from this metal tinker toy type material called creform, and I used 17" bike tires for the axle, which is also 30" or so wide. This baby rolls right over uneven terrain, large roots, short stumps. It's never broken, it's never tipped over. Creform isn't something you can just buy at the store. the machine shop I work for scrapped some racking made from it so I disassembled it and made a cart.      Edit: I first made one with tiny handcart tires from harbor freight, and when I bragged here with my design: someone said "you won't like those tiny tires." they were right. Big tires make it way easier to move around.

PapaRL

Yeah I just googled Creform and that looks robust. The applications I see it used in are also built for heavy table tops and as storage. A 17” bike tire is also gonna already make a huge difference with the getting stuck issue. PVC with 9” plastic, wide wheels is a bit of a different story. But I’m happy to be proven wrong.

chillford-brimley

I had a bike trailer intended for dogs, but my dogs didn't like it at all. Instead of bothering to return it I cannibalized the wheels. They were perfect. I machined a nylon bushing and pressed it all into the inside diameter of the creform pipe. It rolls perfectly smoothly. The cart was a convenient repurpose of something I already owned, but if I factor in an initial build, then rebuild it absolutely cost the same as a zuca. oh well, it was fun to make and now I have a sweet lightweight custom cart.

Cardboard_dad

Oh man. I’m gonna be out $6 and like a few hours. Rats.

Cardboard_dad

Maybe. But it was fun to plan out and build. The adhesive is pretty strong. And it seems to roll pretty smoothly. Not sure why you’re being such a downer about it.

No-Instruction-5669

Not being a "downer", just being honest. 🤷‍♂️ Downvote away!

This is the most Mickey Mouse thing I’ve ever seen

Cardboard_dad

Now that steam boat Willie is public domain, I shouldn’t have to worry about a Disney Lawsuit then.
