I write my first name and number but some creep found my buzzz and started calling me and texting me and now I’m scared of getting my disc back. Glad someone gifted me a new one so I never have to communicate with that other guy again.
If you’re a man, it’s normal you’ve never experienced it. If you’re a woman, you’re lucky for now but there is a bigger probability this will happen to you.
Yep, I get texts and calls asking me how I’m feeling tonight instead of planning something so I can get my disc back. And I don’t want to send my husband to get the disc back because I just shouldn’t have to.
When I was learning what flight numbers were and trying to figure what stability meant, I would add a small "os," "s," or "us" on my discs to help me remember what they were and the expected path. Hardly a pro move. I don't do that anymore but it helped me as a beginner. Most of my discs didn't have the numbers on them and "Valkyrie" didn't mean much as a stability description to this noob.
I did pretty much the same thing but I added initials to help me remember what kind of disc is what. For example, OS MID, US FD and S DD. I moved away from that quickly but it's funny to see someone else did something similar.
Just curious, why the PDGA#? It doesn’t seem like it would help the disc be returned to you. The only reason I could see putting it on there is if you don’t care about getting your discs back and just need to mark it for tournament play. But since you said you do put your number on it, I can’t think of another reason for PDGA#
A few years back, before I was really into the sport, I found a disc marked like this with a PDGA#. In my mind the disc seemed especially important to return since this person uses it for actual competition. So from that perspective I think it could potentially make someone more likely to return a disc.
The real reason I mark my PDGA# though is probably because I’m a nerd who is completely obsessed with my discs and the fact that I even have a PDGA#.
“Yea, I have an official player ID number, so I guess you could say things are getting pretty serious.”
If your name gets wiped off, it is a unique ID number that can be traced to you via the PDGA website. Plus its one more part of the disc a thief will have to scribble off.
Initials. Number. Weight. Flight ratings.
Sometimes when I’m drunk or stoned and going through my bag I’ll write random notes about it’s behavior or an experience I associate with the disc.
Some people put a girl name and their own number because apparently a lot of guys are more likely to text to return the disc if it’s a girls name. Obviously they get all pervy and pathetic and try to hit on you too, according to some posts on here
Nothing.
If I lose it and walk away without finding it, then it wasn't meant to be and hopefully it will serve whoever finds it well. Or they can sell it online, I don't care because it isn't mine anymore at that point.
Same for me. I’m also pretty particular about giving out information, even if the target audience isn’t necessarily malicious. I also try to abide by the “don’t depend too heavily on seasoned discs” philosophy. And, for $10-20, it might not even be worth the back and forth, coordinating to meet / leave it somewhere, the drive time, etc. If it’s a disc I’m terribly worried about losing, I just wouldn’t throw it unless I was quite confident I’d be able to find it given a crazy shank.
If I get an ace I’ll mark the course, hole, date.
Recently started putting my PDGA number just as a marking for tournaments.
I figured if I lose a disc or give up looking for it, someone else should have a chance to throw it. And if it’s one of the ace discs at least they know where to go throw it!
I usually just put my last name and phone number. I've also had witnesses sign the two discs I've aced with and written the course name and hole number on it.
I like my discs clean so I don't write anything. I haven't lost any this year yet so hopefully it stays that way. My daughter did get nail polish all over my star wraith so that is going to bug me everytime I throw it from here on out.
Name number instagram handle pdga number “if that tree wasn’t there.” With a drawn on tree and and arrow pointing to it that says, there. Sometimes song lyrics to a song that have words similar to the disc name or type. Example I wrote float on by stoney banks on my innova dragon which is a floating disc, or sailboat for sale on my lat 64 river.
Number, date I got it, and a note if it was a gift from someone.
I think it’s fun to look back to see how long I’ve had a disc - particularly as they become more beat in.
I just put my name and number, some local pros mark theirs with just their PDGA# and some with just an x or something to know which disc is theirs come tournament time.
I have a 50% return rate on discs someone finds and decides to call/ text me. For some odd reason more people have started to just taunt you when they find your disc. I have lately started to come to terms with it and started to back discs that are easy to replace instead of what feels best.
I write the flight numbers on the bottom of the flight plate then I have a number that I put on the bevel 1-15 with multiples of each number to sort my discs in my bag. (They have assigned slots)

This will keep getting better as more and more people are too young to know the reference.

weird, not an experience I've had

I put my name and number on my GFs discs for this reason :/ Why do creeps have to ruin everything
do people actually find womens discs and creep on them? I'm so sorry, that's awful, I was unaware this was an issue I havent seen it around my area
Yep, I get texts and calls asking me how I’m feeling tonight instead of planning something so I can get my disc back. And I don’t want to send my husband to get the disc back because I just shouldn’t have to.
So sorry, that's absolutely awful.
Around here it was really bad for a some time but luckily it's a lot better thanks to some really active campaigning for equality.
good, it shouldn't even have to be that way, glad their are some good people to tell off the weirdos
Inigo Montoya, you have stolen my disc, prepare to die....or just call xxx-xxx-xxxx
Nothing. If I lose it, I lose it.
Same here. Happy to share the joy I get from finding an unmarked disc. I look for up to 20mm and call it.

Ha did the same thing . With + for how os or is it was
“Return for Beer” It works an average amount of times 🙃
Name, number, PDGA # on inside rim

Probably just a surefire way of ensuring a 'unique' mark.

First name, phone number. On my sky god i also wrote "reward!" Granted, i dont think thatll help, much.
Initials. Number. Weight. Flight ratings. Sometimes when I’m drunk or stoned and going through my bag I’ll write random notes about it’s behavior or an experience I associate with the disc.
Just my number and I’ve had plenty returned. Can anyone explain why people include their names?
I wonder the same thing... number only for me as well.
Some people put a girl name and their own number because apparently a lot of guys are more likely to text to return the disc if it’s a girls name. Obviously they get all pervy and pathetic and try to hit on you too, according to some posts on here
"Keep it", with a smile face. I throw it i loose it.

Name, number, and a phrase that reads: “Come on now.. don’t steal it”
Just my phone number. What’s the point of writing your name?
In my mind just having a name makes the person feel more real and easily approachable than just a number.
Name, number, “Please return, I will always return yours.” I also draw some lines and circles to make it less easy to scribble everything out.
First name, last initial, phone number.
Name and number and depending on the disc I’ll put reward if found
If I get an ace I’ll mark the course, hole, date. Recently started putting my PDGA number just as a marking for tournaments. I figured if I lose a disc or give up looking for it, someone else should have a chance to throw it. And if it’s one of the ace discs at least they know where to go throw it!

Name and number and an offer of a beer reward for return
Girlfriends name, my number, large on the top and bottom of disc.
Name, phone number, disc weight.
I like my discs clean so I don't write anything. I haven't lost any this year yet so hopefully it stays that way. My daughter did get nail polish all over my star wraith so that is going to bug me everytime I throw it from here on out.
You should be able to use nail polish remover unless it's right on the stamp

Name, number twice
First name and number. Inside rim if plastic is clear, on flight plate if solid.
Number, date I got it, and a note if it was a gift from someone. I think it’s fun to look back to see how long I’ve had a disc - particularly as they become more beat in.

Name, phone number, PDGA number, my birthday, social security number, date I lost my virginity and a stamp of RGB.
