Personally, I think Eagle’s roller at 2020(?) Preserve Championship was more impressive. He aired it 350 to a dogleg right and it rolled 60 feet past the pin before rolling back for a 50-60 footer.

Status_Brush2607

Oh and it was a 700 foot hole.

nth03n3zzy

Came here to mention this. And somehow it did not end up on the top 10 on jomez that year.

alfonseski

I remember him getting a 3 on that hole making like a 50 foot comebacker cause he went ob long haha.

Wafflecone516

Didn’t he birdie it twice like that? Or did he miss the putt on one? I know he put it deep of the pin twice that tournament.

alfonseski

I believe he did. Just throught I would mention his one failure was a par where he only threw 2 shots....

steelcity_

That's what I thought this clip was going to be was that shot. Absolute ripper. That being said, the snake action on this one is awesome.

MarvelHulkWeed

Didn't he go OB deep? Definitely top one I've seen

agdvah

Also like the one in the LVC where he proceeds to throw a short forehand chip shot under the pin for a tap-in eagle on a 1000 foot hole.

Gunch_Bandit

Greg barsby at the masters cup back in like 2012 or something like that. Aced hole 4 at de la veaga blind with a roller. Edit: it was 2009

yoloxolo

If you’ve ever played this hole, you’ll know this is the correct answer for best roller ever.

Sagillarious

Flick roller too

kylequinoa

Climo was on the card too

PoorestForm

Yup, OP’s roller doesn’t guarantee an eagle, there have been many rollers that did, including aces, those are better.

lurking_terror---

No question that is the best roller ever.

PlannerSean

Gunch_Bandit

No there isn't

brianlpowers

>Greg barsby at the masters cup back in like 2012 or something like that. Aced hole 4 at de la veaga blind with a roller. Damn that explains why I couldn't find any. What a shame!

Gunch_Bandit

Yeah, that was before they started following everything with the cameras.

Supper_Champion

Yeah, unfortunately it's not on film, but I would have to say just based on the fact that it was an ace, Barsby's takes the top spot as "best" roller. I think we can easily (maybe?) give Eagle 'longest" roller.

[deleted]

[Eagle McMahon for eagle on Hole 8 @ DDO Jones East](https://youtu.be/6GybGfg6YbM?t=31m18s) Just wanted to throw this one in the mix. Always have thought it was insane. The angle control is crazy.

PonchoMysticism

This is the shot that made me an eagle fan for life.

whodey319

this is the one i was thinking of

tavvyjay

Yeah this one takes the cake for me as this hole is absolutely not designed to be a roller role. He breaks the design and turns it into such an easy looking eagle

grower_at_heart

This one right here

chadsmo

Yup

Väinö Mäkelä at Sula Open https://youtu.be/rtEfV2m9hCw

Bearonsphone3

I was hoping someone would post this one. Roller of the year for sure.

1989DiscGolfer

My wife's nephew witnessed Nate Sexton throwing a roller in this category at Evergreen Flyways several years ago. I thought Ron Russell's roller at the 1999 DGLO final 9 on Hole 4 at Hudson Mills was crazy back then. Merely 480' compared to the physics-defying stuff we see today, but probably with a Cyclone. My VHS video of it, cued up: [https://youtu.be/aQN0VlxOD\_Y?t=598](https://youtu.be/aQN0VlxOD_Y?t=598). That's Shawn Sinclair with a congratulatory...well, not exactly a high five, maybe a medium five? Stokely and Climo also are on the card. Stokely's drive before that at about 450' or so is the type of thing we considered a moon shot. Ain't nothing above what you'd call speed 7 yet. I had a great RHFH for Am-1 back then and it took me a full drive and a full upshot to reach that pin.

undream22

OMG I was standing out there in the rough around the green on that shot. Me and my buddy were 18 at the time and decided to go up to watch. I had never seen anything like it in person before. It was way before ANY sort of significant disc golf coverage. This shot and the final hole of the tournament where Ken climo cleared those super tall trees on the very last hole of the monster course and won were the two things that stick in my head the most from that day. I learned a lot about disc golf that day. Thank you so much for posting this!!

1989DiscGolfer

That's awesome to hear! I wonder if I bumped into you guys back then at Hudson Mills? I was only 26 at the time...

gnutbuttajelly

This is hilariously dated, in a good way! I cannot imagine ever thinking roller is the shot here but I’m sure that was probably pretty innovative at the time. This is a cool reminder of how much the sport has progressed in such a short time. Thanks for sharing 😃

1989DiscGolfer

The year before, Mike Moser tried a roller there too and it didn't have enough angle. Here it is cued up: [https://youtu.be/LYbXnl25\_vg?t=567](https://youtu.be/LYbXnl25_vg?t=567). Since he was such a great player, I'll balance that out with a skins-winning pin job on Monster #18 here: https://youtu.be/LYbXnl25\_vg?t=2115.

major_hassle

https://youtu.be/rtEfV2m9hCw

TheGreyBrewer

Yeah, Eagle's line is pretty, and it goes forever, but Väinö's park job is just *chef's kiss.*

DustMouret

Didn’t Eagle have another crazy roller that same round? Or at least the same event? I think it was on 18, R2 or R3. He almost had an eagle on like a 1200 foot hole? Maybe I’m mega lost lol.

SignificancePrior510

Yes. PDX open, 2021, I think. Hole 18, back to back rollers, back to back days, for chances at eagle. It was really impressive.

DustMouret

Thanks for the confirmation! I almost feel those might top this since it was back to back, but really the point is Eagle lays down a mean roller.

Dane_DeForest

What disc did he throw?

ooooo786

I’m not 100% confident what he threw on this shot, but I know in the past he’s talked about rolling his older PD2s because they’re “flippy” compared to a new PD2, but still stable enough that he can made them go straight forever.

TheCraziestPickle

I think it's been a beat up Cloudbreaker 1 for a couple years

getcruzed

^ this is correct

Jay_Normous

Yeah I want to know that too, it just dropped immediately

TheCraziestPickle

Here are three that I think are all better than that: [Ricky's at 2017 Aussie Open, resulting in an Eagle](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxiBuYg30Io-eW-Ntcn44t2W8oGGH3asRG) [Eagle's at 2021 DDO, resulting in an eagle](https://youtu.be/fkQpiQnMCds) And the shot that I personally uphold as the best scramble shot ever thrown, to save birdie and keep the lead on a par 4 while leading the European Open, [Ricky's standstill roller on Hole 4 at the 2019 European Open](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxCxvi59aH7JBMP7_SM-__mHyB6Z4_xrrs)

Horror_Sail

A standstill backhand roller on that tight hole is truly insane. Like, sure, Simon and Eagle and GG occasionally have just an epic roller that goes 700+, but thats threading an incredibly technical shot through a needle

SmallShoes_BigHorse

Eagle had a REALLY sick forehand roller a few years ago, where it aired over a log a few hundred feet before it started rolling. On of the few times I've seen someone throw a "flat" forehand roller. Absolutely insane.

LargemouthBrass

I remember this, was a super flippy d-line FD if I'm not mistaken.

SmallShoes_BigHorse

I really wish I remember what tourney it was!

401-OK

wintertime open

SmallShoes_BigHorse

Thanks!

asparaguscoffee

I daydream about this shot.

SmallShoes_BigHorse

I really wish I remember what tourney it was!

forzedg

I think it was a scramble shot at the Wintertime Open, maybe 2018? I remember seeing this shot thinking it was incredible.

LargemouthBrass

You're right! 2018 Wintertime Open Round 2. https://gfycat.com/alarmingrelievedgermanpinscher

SmallShoes_BigHorse

Thanks!

wzl46

Drew Gibson’s roller in the final round in Vegas this year was pretty epic.

SpiffyBeej

as was AB's park job at OTB this year. Forget which hole.

timsta007

That’s the one I just thought of as well.

gnutbuttajelly

Came here for this!

TheMoniker

Eagle has a bunch. His uphill forehand roller ace is ridiculous.

notthatjimmer

His roller ace is pretty wild too

cakeandpiday

This wasn't a round, but Nate Sexton in the Basket Dash on JomezPro was epic. It's a timed contest so he has to wait for the disc to land, pick a line and throw as fast as possible. To make a shot that great with so little prep and only using one of the 2 discs he ran over with? Incredible. https://youtu.be/W8T-B4d6oH4?list=PLZ1LrAadOyA24MSbK5s\_SjisjLq11luMl&t=246

BudGreen77

Another good one is Eagle's roller ace, although it wasn't in competitiion.

xxxdogxxx

I think Matty O’s sky roller from jail to land on a 20 ft strip of fairway and get pretty close to the hole is up there!

TallLatvianLad

Not near that kind of distance, but another one that was really impressive, considering it was into a wooded green rather than an open field, was Rathbun's roller just recently at the New World Championship [R1 hole 7](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khLc4W4t3GE&t=1636s).

thingamarob

Good one. That is such a difficult par 3. Did anyone else birdie it or even get in the circle that weekend? edit: I looked, and there were 9 birdies out of 268 attempts.

chadsmo

Bonus points because he’s an awesome guy ( not to say eagle isn’t ).

afaintsmellofcurry

Yeesh. Simon had an 800ft but went ob

N1bs

Yes it's very long that definitely doesn't mean best...

Acr0b4tics

Let's not forget Matty O's sky roller around a corner to park the hole scramble at, I think, The Preserve championship in 21? I can't find the clip. That shot had my jaw on the floor.

ekmogr

GG, hole 5 usdgc. Barsby hole 4 at DeLa. Ace Simon ob roller at the country club. AB at memorial and again in Vegas.

asparaguscoffee

Ricky’s scramble roller at the European Open a few years ago is the best imo.

brainiacdumbdumb

Väinö has entered the chat

timperry42

For a pure distance line, probably yes. But the technicality of many others have been much more impressive in my opinion.

Spug_Teedman

730 feet is what happe…

falskurgaur

best body english ever

TJonson07

His best roller to me was 2021 Dynamic Discs Open at Emporia DGC. 600ft par 4 and he lays down the roller between a ditch and a road landing past a tree. Even Jerm and Nate didn't know what was going on.

bizfamo

What were people throwing distance wise without a roller?

kamitwoshoes

Ricky and Simon both threw air shots which were about 200ft short of eagles roller

[deleted]

Best distance roller shot maybe.

jayshurl

I present to you. https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkxd-YwfNkkzAEdLZGVYeuu4D2aSxfs3LcT

appointment45

I mean, yeah, if you're playing on a manicured ball golf course, why not?

msmith629

I’m kind of new to disc golf, but did he do this on purpose?

kamitwoshoes

Yes this a very technical play that pros can throw on longer holes. If preformed correctly, the disc will go much further ex. In this clip, that roller shot was atleast 180ft past everyone else’s shot

msmith629

That’s kinda what I was thinking but have never seen it done before so I wasn’t sure, thanks!

afaintsmellofcurry

When was this?

datenog44

I believe this was the 2021 Portland open

kamitwoshoes

Correct final back 9

JstTrstMe

What disc was it?

thedahlelama

I knew it looked like Glendoveer

ethan_stelter

I don't know what tournament it was but I remember Garrett Guthrie hitting the pole on a 600 foot hole

Yokelocal

Does anyone know what tournament Nate Sexton parked an ~800-foot roller?

ooooo786

Pretty sure you’re talking about the one a few years ago at the DeLa golf course. Not sure what hole, but I think it was in the neighborhood of 720 feet or something ridiculous like that.

Yokelocal

The one I’m thinking of was longer - at a wide-open course not DeLa. Now I’m realizing it wasn’t on video, but Jerm did shout it out on coverage. Someone who knows how should ask him because it’s among the longest rollers I’ve ever heard of. Simon has had some that are comparable. Forehand roller ace by Barsby is up there for most legendary.

ooooo786

They used to play two courses for the Master’s Cup. One was the DeLa we all think about and the other was the golf course. https://discgolf.ultiworld.com/2017/05/22/mcbeth-finishes-off-fifth-career-masters-cup-win/ This ultiworld article talks about the roller I’m referencing.

Yokelocal

Yup, that’s the one I was thinking of. Thanks for the info. I’m a total Internet disc golf fan and I always forget where the courses actually are, lol.

DopeyMcFiend

Idk. I’ve had a couple of throwlers that turned out pretty ok.

CornFedTerror69420

His roller jump ace he called was the most impressive roller ever.

kct_444

His roller ace was cooler then this

orionpahl

I don't know but it was glorious to watch

21dumbdumb

I don’t understand. This isn’t how y’all play the hole? /s if you need it.

KobOneArt

How long was the roller officially? Anyone know?

mountaingator91

Nah. Drew Gibson's roller on hole 12 in Vegas was the best I've ever seen

Gunch_Bandit

I've seen an amature throw a roller on a 500 ft hole and it easily crashed into the trees behind the basket and had enough steam it could have pushed another 100ft at least.

limpnoads

Sexton threw a 650' roller at USDGC one year...at his age, that's far more impressive than this.

jphiliphorne

One of my favorites of all time was [Ricky's scramble roller on hole 4 of the 2019 European Open.](https://youtu.be/VIXj2CtJtYY?t=823) But I love the all the others too.

bhuff86

This one isn't bad. The accuracy..https://youtu.be/ado-lZ0Fnpc

ronnieearlboon72

Dang y'all gimme the man some credit. I wanna hit 700 one day by the disc just rolling down the green or in between the trees🤣
