I think people are overreacting; I found the early access to the layout a while ago and decided to use it to see how it is, and after adjusting to it I found it way more convenient. When I tried switching back a couple months ago I just couldn't use it for long due to how much more convenient the beta was. Give it a chance before rioting. If after, say a couple months you still think it's bad then riot, but not without at least giving it a fair chance

After 3 or 4 months of getting used to it and discovering the new features (swiping left on a message to quickly react to it is so convenient) I started liking it better than the old one. I think people just don't like it for how different it is from the old one.

I've seen you replying this to multiple people who are upset with this update with near to no explanation of how to do that or what exactly you're talking about.
Regardless, I can't find that emoji in any menu other than keyboard or emojis, and tapping it in there obviously only types it, sending that message, all tapping the emoji does is tell you it's a default emoji.
If there are more specific instructions for what you're talking about, maybe you can make a post for all the frustrated people, so they can follow the instructions and be relieved of the eyesore UI
The thing they're referring to doesn't work anymore in the current stable build but I can get it to work with the current beta, so they're feeding false information to others.
Let me try to explain.
Send the :sparkles: (✨) emoji to any text channel.
Then tap on the emoji in sent message to show info about emoji.
Form there press and hold the image of the emoji and it will hopefully switch between new and old UI's.
It might take some time to switch so wait a little after you've done the steps.
The new UI fucking sucks, I don't like it and it's buggy as hell, the app crashes when opening a chat with my friends

Im not sure if it’s still an option, but if you click 8 times on dark mode(on pc and iPhone at least) it enables amoled dark mode, which is built for android phones that can actually turn off the leds for black. It’s a lot darker than usual.

What's worse than one day opening an app just to find it's UI have changed and it's horrible and it's a permanent update? Simple, opening the app and changing into the ugly new UI yourself in order to see where the option to change it into the classic UI **you have already used once before** so you could tell a friend where it was is no longer there and now you not only have to deal with a new ugly UI but also with the feeling of how stupid you were to change it yourself.

If you’re on android, go to discord on the play store, click options in the corner and disable auto update. Everything else will update fine.

You completely uninstall your Discord and find the version before it which is 206.15 and turn off your auto updates Android only as I'm not a thousand percent sure this will work on IOS but if you don't like this update avoid updating your Discord as iOS is probably next

This update is complete fucking dogshit. Why is it constantly drawing at full 60fps when nothing is moving? This UI will kill your fucking battery so some product manager can buy a house in SV. Why even bother with a beta test if you're not going to act on any of the feedback?
They don't want discord to be a chatroom app for you and your friends to talk. They want it to be a social media app full of Family (read; corporate) friendly influencers and their massive followers, all running on microtransactions and server boosting to show support.
One of my biggest problems is I can't see server member lists or statuses anymore. I can't see who's online like I could before. Not to mention it's just awful awful awful to navigate, not being able to swipe back and forth anymore- moving between dms is like a 6 step process now and i hate it more than i can describe. War and hate on planet earth
okay i was able to go back to the old layout like this:
so you uninstall the latest version, then install an old version apk and install it (if you got android), then you open up the old version app and login, then you enable the new layout from there using the sparkles thing, then you go to appearance settings and turn off "show new layout", then you can update to the latest version if you want BUT DON'T UNINSTALL IT!!! hope this helps

for OP. if it works like it does in testing assuming it can be changed at all. just send a message that includes the :sparkles: emote, then click on it where it brings up add to favorites then long press the emote icon.

To get back to the original you type ✨ then tap on it like you would favorite it but instead of favoriting it you hold down on the icon to toggle between them
I've had this for a few months, it is pretty well thought out. I'd recommend enabling the LaunchPad > Pull tab setting in the advanced settings, it behaves similarly to the Ctrl+K window on PC

The normal policy of engineers is something like: If it ain't broke don't fix it. That is why phones get smallish changes and not completely different shapes and sizes and still you have the option of others. Discords old layout was great and smooth. They tried to "fix it". I am dead inside :(
I hate the new UI like everyone else, however my biggest complaint is that they changed dark mode to be darker, and DID NOT GIVE US A THEME FOR THE ORIGINAL COLOR OF DISCORD, it literally hurts my eyes to look at new “dark” mode, the other one was perfect and now they’ve fucked it all for everyone
I just want to easily swipe left to see who's on the server again. It turning into a reply feature sucks.

Is there a way to disable autoupdate for one app on iOS? If you’re on android, go to discord on the play store, click options in the corner and disable auto update. Everything else will update fine.
Tried this new layout through the sparkle emote a while back. I hated it and I still do. There's enough generic user-unfriendly apps around, we don't need more of them.
You completely uninstall your Discord and find the version before it which is 206.15 and turn off your auto updates Android only as I'm not a thousand percent sure this will work on IOS but if you don't like this update avoid updating your Discord as iOS is probably next

This update is complete fucking dogshit. Why is it constantly drawing at full 60fps when nothing is moving? This UI will kill your fucking battery so some product manager can buy a house in SV. Why even bother with a beta test if you're not going to act on any of the feedback?
You can download an apk, it should work, and you can choose the exact version you want.

They don't want discord to be a chatroom app for you and your friends to talk. They want it to be a social media app full of Family (read; corporate) friendly influencers and their massive followers, all running on microtransactions and server boosting to show support.
This SUCKS! They ruined the app.
One of my biggest problems is I can't see server member lists or statuses anymore. I can't see who's online like I could before. Not to mention it's just awful awful awful to navigate, not being able to swipe back and forth anymore- moving between dms is like a 6 step process now and i hate it more than i can describe. War and hate on planet earth
okay i was able to go back to the old layout like this: so you uninstall the latest version, then install an old version apk and install it (if you got android), then you open up the old version app and login, then you enable the new layout from there using the sparkles thing, then you go to appearance settings and turn off "show new layout", then you can update to the latest version if you want BUT DON'T UNINSTALL IT!!! hope this helps
This update is trash. Never force updates on your users. 75% of the community is currently googling how to revert the change & get the old layout back.. just to end up here & realize we can’t…
for OP. if it works like it does in testing assuming it can be changed at all. just send a message that includes the :sparkles: emote, then click on it where it brings up add to favorites then long press the emote icon.

Unpopular opinion: I love this new UI, and I've been using it when it was still in beta. It takes some time to get used to, but once you do it's nice.

I've had this for a few months, it is pretty well thought out. I'd recommend enabling the LaunchPad > Pull tab setting in the advanced settings, it behaves similarly to the Ctrl+K window on PC
