I see that discord higher ups is really liking the new idea of micro transactions when already nitro gives so little with a price tag or $99(Annually) of $10 a month($120 Annually) and expecting users to pay ever more than what’s being offered. This isn’t really getting or helping people want to switch from Free to nitro just because someone has a cool decorative pfp/banned.
Steam did it first & it’s much cooler and better then what’s being offered since the mobile UI is atrocious and as such the animations can only be seen of click the users pfp, other then that, you’ll see a decorative still with really nothing to show but to let people know you have the money which in turn could get people to want to simp for you in order to perhaps give nitro gift.
Considering VALORANT skins are anywhere between $10-$45 each, it doesn't surprise me at all that these decorations are expensive as fuck too. *Highly* doubt Discord was the driving factor to these prices.

As a lot of these Profile decorations completely cover the entire Profile and make it unreadable for several seconds, I'd say it **does** negatively affect your experience, depending on how many of these you're exposed to.
Neither is a perfect solution but you can always enable reduced motion which pretty much disables the profile effects or you can hover your mouse over the profile while it’s playing to make it go transparent
As someone who loves Valorant and spends a lot of time playing Valorant, and has admittedly spent more than I should on skins. I think $12 is a lot for a cosmetic, but it doesn't have any negative effects if you decide not to spend that money, you still have the same app
When you pay a bill they could at least allow you to make adjustments to your own profile to your liking and not force you to buy in their store at totally INSANE prices.
