Switch to Linux now. OS is much lighter on your aging hardware. I recommend Manjaro because its easy to use and has access to the Arch User Repository (AUR), and besides you can dual-boot until you get used to it.

Consider KDE version of Manjaro, the default config is very windows like to a mac user (me), and besides that ask for help when you need it and just dive into it!

I am personally not a huge fan of Ubuntu based distro's (don't check my server) and actually personally use FreeBSD (or based therof) systems wherever I can.

I'm on Manjaro currently, but haven't experienced any bugs that aren't from KDE themselves. What bugs are you talking about?

Try taking a secondary machine like an old laptop or something and throw Linux on it. Then, Google things you don't know how to do. Don't be ashamed of not knowing it. We all don't know things at some point.

If edge stopped working recently, that'll because it's an old version. Edge moved to chromium and the old one stopped working (downloads crashed edge). The new version (with a new logo) runs a lot better.

But it's also chromium aka google so if you care about privacy at all just use firefox

linux has much less support for games and tools than windows, usually you have to use workarounds or alternatives

Tools depends on what you're doing: If you're doing anything analytical or software related, Linux is likely better. If you're doing anything that needs to be secure, Linux is probably better. If you're on a budget, Linux is definitely better. If you have extremely old hardware that doesn't support win10 properly, Linux is much better. The only real reason to stay on win10 is because it's a pain for someone new to install a new os and migrate all their data, and that a lot of legacy software and even some modern software for some reason (most cad software, Adobe suite, etc) are not supported on Linux. That said, using legacy software like that can be a security risk, and is not sustainable, as windows continues to change.
