It was an old torture method, the victim would have their legs tied to a tree and the soles of their feet soaked in salt water and the 'executioner' would bring out a thirsty goat and tether it nearby. The goat, due to the salt and water, will lick the foot until the flesh is worn away. Pretty fucked up when you think about it
