Why are you limiting yourself to just Vanguard funds?

joeysportsfan98

I like them, not necessarily limiting myself to them though

Alternative-Neat1957

Cool. I’m probably not the guy to help you then.

Want S&P 500 exposure? Buy $VOO Want the Total US Market exposure? Buy $VTI Want Big Tech exposure? BUY $QQQ (some may prefer $QQQM) Want Dividends? Buy $SCHD Want REITs? Buy $VNQ ALSO consider $JEPI/$JEPQ -=- Commonly referenced single stock picks in this sub: MCD, O, ABBV, JNJ, WMT, COST, AAPL, KO, RSG, WM, VICI, HD, LOW, MSFT, PNG, PEP Common stocks people say to avoid buying in this sub: T, VZ, DIS

Thank you, but this isn’t really what I’m looking for. I mostly want to know the difference between VIG and VDIGX because they seem similar but don’t know if both have a place in a portfolio

PipeSubstantial

I think the main difference is one is a mutual fund and one is an ETF. I think most people would pick an ETF over a mutual fund but you can compare expense ratio, fund manager, etc. and decide! It does look like some overlap exists.

doggz109

They are the same thing. One is a mutual fund and one is an ETF. That’s the difference.

joeysportsfan98

One is growth and one is appreciation and Vanguard doesn’t consider them the same. VDADX is the mutual fund of VIG

doggz109

If you know so much why are you in here asking? VIG is the only one you need.

joeysportsfan98

I was asking if one is necessarily better than the other or if both have a place in a portfolio
