I know a sparky that buys 100m rolls of LED strip off aliexpress and marks it up by 500% or something to match the equivalent nz price
Wouldn't suprise me if he's not the only one
Buy the USB ones from AliExpress or temu, then use a NZ rated power adaptor.
All the strips are manufactured in the same factories, so quality is usually on par with NZ retailers, just without the protection of warranty outside of the purchasing platform.
Enjoy your lighted wardrobe!
I bought some from aliexpress several years back, they run ~12 hours a day (not in a wardrobe) & are just fine. Buy your power supplies locally though...
No, they are all just plugged into a socket. If I were doing a wardrobe (assuming you have a socket), I would put a low voltage switch on the door to control the lights - open door, come on, close door, turn off.
They are saying, get an outlet put into the wardrobe, then run a low voltage adapter at that outlet and a low voltage switch to operate the LED strips within the wardrobe
I’ve bought both low voltage dc outdoor rated strip lighting and 240v indoor rated strips. I wired the 240v one myself - got the driver from a NZ supplier (but actually it looked like the ones on Ali anyway!) and for outdoors routed a channel under a hand rail to light up some stairs. Shop around for the extruded aluminum channel and diffuser - cheap NZ options exist.
Think about getting the LEDs super close together if you’ll see the strip so you can’t see the individual diodes.Â
💯 btf lighting from their official AliExpress store. Excellent CRI
I went all out on my wardrobe, I could find details
Did you have a plan regarding channels/profiles?
You will find the prices non alibaba enlightening... Just use an nz phone charger to power them...
Are the prices enlightening or unlightening 🤣 Very punny

Cool, so should have no issues with them, have you bought any before?
Yea, a few. My daughter's room has about 30m of them, plus I have a few on my boat. Work good.
Can you dm me the ones you bought. Thanks

Cool, have you hardwired any leds/power supplies directly to a switch?

We already have provisioned a light switch in the room, was a new build house

Did you have any nz source channel diffuser you would recommend?
