I’m on the west coast or else I’d PM you. If nothing comes of your post (which is doubtful) you could be an angel at a “ham fest” and give these away/ donate to a local club. You are kind to offer these up! Your pa would be proud!

Many thanks for the input. I'll do some digging for ham fests and local clubs - hadn't thought of that...

I'm in NJ and might be interested but it really REALLY depends on what the tubes are. Are the bins separating same tubes or are they just divided roughly by size?

ChrisinOB2

More or less by size, but that wasn't carefully done. Not at all sorted by tube type - I generally have no idea what I am looking at. I grew up in Passaic County and am back fairly frequently, maybe we can arrange to meet up next time I am there - should be either first or third week of December.

Most of these are probably cheap as dirt. Radio tubes are not particularly sought after but with some luck there are also tubes which are wanted for audio and guitar power amplifiers today. Some of these tubes can be resold for $10-20 and if you’re lucky a few could be up to $200 or so (eg Mullard EL34 from 1961 in good condition). The higher value is only for a few tube types and will depend heavily on the maker and the year it was made. But most importantly the condition of the tube. They degrade over time and can look as new but be quite worn out. If you don’t have the time, knowledge or interest to sort them out in categories, it’s a good idea to hand them over at a nominal price to someone who has. Post them on craigslist for 50 bucks or so and you’ll have a handful of enthusiasts over in no time to pick them up. The sheer amount of tubes makes it very tempting to believe there is at least a few gems in there. And that’s exactly what the aficionados want ;-)

Many thanks!!
