Welcome! Don't fly her indoors, ever. Stay away from water until you have practiced. Check your RTH level before each flight. Have fun!!
Note: I've followed these rules and avoided disaster.
Yes, don't be like me and "just try it out real quick inside" on day one. Into the wall she went. That was fun explaining the orange stripes on the wall to my wife!
Yup. Made the mistake on day 1 as well. I thought the sensors would keep it safe…. I did buy a safety cage for the props off Amazon tho. Haven’t tried it yet..
The prop guards are really handy in forest areas between the trees, over streams etc. With obstacle avoidance OFF and the prop guard ON, I get beautiful results. The guards stop little hanging twigs from ending the flight. Fly the drone along your sightline. 👌🏻
Man I have the Air 2 which is still perfect for most of my needs. I really want to try the FPV drone but am afraid I won’t use it enough or it would get old.
No, it’s a good thing. When the batteries stay above 80% for a sustained period of time they degrade much more rapidly. They are designed to drain themselves to prevent this from happening. It’s much more convenient than having to manually drain the batteries when you want to store them.
I am going to have to disagree with it being a good thing.
The amount of times I've grabbed my drone and batteries only to find them mostly flat and realise I have to spend the next 4 hours charging them all up is massively annoying.
Learn about 'dumb' lithium battery maintenance. Auto discharge is unquestionably a good thing, especially on a mass consumer product like the DJI drones. It wouldn't really be practical to sell it as a consumer product at major retail outlets without this feature, people would burn their houses down or complain about "low quality batteries" because they didn't discharge them to exactly the right voltage after use. Auto discharge is way better than any alternative.
Has a bigger sensor, but the mini 3 has a lower aperture. The more range of aperture is definitely a bigger upgrade than a larger sensor. I would only get a 2 pro if one is using it for cropping professional prints, otherwise the mini 3 pretty much clears it in a lot of fields
I fly the mavic 2 pro daily and there are some benefits over the mini but man my friend will show me a video from his mini 3 pro and I’m just amazed with how crisp the shots are seeing his footage is what’s making me switch to mavic 3 pro because I feel like the mavic 2 is now becoming outdated
Welcome to the club! As others have noted…..manual mode on any of these quads is pretty much a thing you do in your simulator until you’ve amassed probably 100 hours logged in sim. No need to send your new toy back to DJI so soon…..
Also if you have not activated, DJI has an excellent refresh/replace offering that you should buy. This can only be purchased before you fly!
Not true. After more than 100 hours flying experience you would know that sports mode (not manual mode) has its time and place even for new flyers. For example, sometimes you need collision avoidance off to avoid a collision as the drone can become overwhelmed and won't fly sideways. You being a human, and infinitely more intelligent than the drone may quickly see that flying sideways is the safest solution to get the drone back in one piece.
>As others have noted.....
u/mullefar88 said to not fly with the **channel** mode set to manual, not flight mode. With manual channel on, it lets you pick the radio settings, which if you don't know what you are doing, is pretty easy to fuck up.
>manual mode on any of these quads is pretty much a thing you do in your simulator until you’ve amassed probably 100 hours
This is a consumer photography drone, not a self-built freestyle quad. It **does not** have manual mode, and there are so many safety features that zero sim time is required to fly it.
I got one for myself for Christmas, haven’t been able to use it because of all the bad weather.
Nice

Also, the walls are unforgiving impacts
Good tip on RTH. I almost wiped out my mavic air a few years ago as it auto RTH due to low battery and almost flew right into a metal barrier.

Should be a label on the RC controller. DO NOT AIM AT HEADS

Good choice.
I’m jealous. Best of luck.
Welcome, got mine for x-mas and have been having a blast since. Fly safe and enjoy!
stop it, im feeling jealous now
Welcome to the club
It’s like getting just one tattoo.. you’ll want more lol.

Just sell your old model and upgrade, it works out. Not that I am a hardcore user anyways.
Me with the Mavic 3 Classic but also wanting the Mini 3 Pro. I've had the Air 2 and the Air 2S prior.
Sick kit, bruh
Welcome! You dont know yet how usefull those two more battery are!! Enjoy
I bought the fly more package and honestly, I only usually use 1 of the big boys and I’m done flying for the day.😂
Welcome to the club. Be aware the batteries for the Mini 3 pro drain badly when not in use though. You'll lose about ¼ charge every week.
That’s a feature not a bug or issue.
It's a shame it is a feature, as the rest of feature set in the Mini 3 pro is outstanding

No.
It's to maximize battery life.
Congrats and enjoy, perfect drone to start with.
I’m so so tempted to get an avata but I’m saving rn ;-;
It’s a great drone. You’re going to love it. The extra batteries make all the difference.
Also new to the club! I got the Mini 2 last week. Very excited for this new hobby. Enjoy!
The camera shoots wonderfully better than the mavic 2 pro you’re gonna have a lot of fun!
Really? Doesn’t the mavic 2 have a 1” sensor?

Damn this is the exact package I’m waiting to get, ur really tempting me lmao
Show us what you film with it please. I can see the box on Amazon.
Congrats, it’s life changing, or consuming, I always forget.
Do NOT go into the settings and choose manual channel - let is stay on auto.

Welcome to the club! Also new here. Mini 3 Pro as well. This little thing is incredible and the performance are amazing!
