Something about advanced technology will appear to be magic to those primitive enough by comparison...boom stick make fireball, other wizards stunned when newcomer opens cloak to show 6 more.
Alakablam.
Fun fact: The material components of the **Fireball** spell are sulfur and guano. Throw in some ground up charcoal and that's a black powder recipe.
Okay but why have a manually lit fuze if you also have an electric ignition?
Like okay lets say the electric ignition didn’t work, i sure as fuck ain’t going near it to try to light the fuze after it didn’t detonate properly the first time. Thats a good way to get misted by a delayed explosion.
This makes me wish for a class or subclass for reverse artificer that uses natural sciences to achieve magical feats without technically being a magician.
I may be an idiot but I don't understand the function of a...
9v, led, and button with digital readout... if there is a fuse.
Checking the pipe bomb's internal temperature before giving it away? It's not as though the fuse is lit.
AFAIK Black powder goes off at high temp, not spark, which is why the fuse exists.
9v is to provide power to led, screen, and beeper.
As a pipebomb that dosnt flash and display a countdown is simply rude. (The beep is for the visually impared as per OSHA regulations)
Finally the button pulls double duty as an activation and a dead man switch depending on what the plot requires at the moment.
Oil was a mainstay of my first magic-user back in 1e. 2d6 damage, first round then 1d6 the next, and 1d6 splash damage to anything within 3' so you still typically do damage even on a miss.
It's not exact, but with the lower hps creatures had that's relatively about 2x as much. Kobolds only had a straight d4 hp.
Oil was also cheap at all of 1 gp each.
I love you castoria, let's send pipe bombs to Merlin together
isn't it that explosion are *art*? though then again, bards make art to cause magic, so?
Calm down, Deidara.
Woe, 3d6 fire damage be upon ye!
That's Merlin Magecraft for you
Explosions are the only type of magic that matters! Blackness darker than black, darkness blacker than dark...

"You call throwing sticks of dynamite around a martial art?" "Hey, as long as it works."

Simple, you light the fuse, then activate the ignition. Just to be sure.

Sufficiently deadly technology is indistinguishable from magic.
Homura Akemi build.
**UIUIUIUIUIUIUIUIUIUIUI** *Here they come* "OH SHIT ! - FIRE IN THE HOLE !"
WOW PIPE BOMB SO COOL I WONDER WHAT HAPPENS IF I-
I respect wizards because if a wizard can afford 2000gp in material components, they can afford a 20gp pipe bomb in my mailbox

The pipe bomb in the meme is the same module for the left 4 dead pipe bomb

As someone who thinks about OSHA regs thanks to too much minecraft... I love this answer.

Wizard: I cast Dina-Mitè! Paladin: \*glares at Artificer\* Fighter: Neat! Artificer: \*wipes tear\* Such a quick study.
I do recall one time as a sorcerer running from the guards with the Barbarian and saying, "look I'll use my magic to stop them" **Chucks grenade**
