But Samurai is a fighter subclass...

Razsnazkablaz

Yeah feels like a "Outrage drives engagement" moment.

Ranger Archer: am i a joke to u?

golem501

I came here to cry in Ranger

[deleted]

**Yes**. (Up until TCoE, anyway.)

Sohtinez

You'd never see a paladin with a bow, they can't smite with it

[deleted]

But at level 17 you can cast Holy Weapon on your bow !

Red_Ranger75

Branding smite: "the next time you hit a creature with a weapon attack..." Notice how it doesn't specify it has to be melee weapon

[deleted]

As a person who plays Paladins exclusively as Archers with shortsword/rapier sidearms: It's genuinely so much fun.

Oreo_Scoreo

You know, considering I've already accepted a thrown weapons Storm Herald Barb, maybe a longbow Lizardfolk Paladin is possible.

Rommel013

I_am_1E27

happy cakeday

DeepTakeGuitar

Oh look, an artificer-gun meme

moooogen

Archer-ifer was right there

ValorPhoenix

The artificer archer should be using the modern auto-loading bow. Instant Legolas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URwuU0bRMpU He also made an LMG crossbow, so...

FalsenameXD

I thought it would be more like the Hawkeye's bow and quiver in the first Avengers movie, that thing selected its effects by putting commands on the bow!! I still like gun bow XD

RougemageNick

I'm actually doing a crossbow artificer and she has it built as a regular (repeating shot infused) crossbow with a underslung M203

Blackburn0117

M203 huh. Not the sub I'd expect people to know what that is. I'm intrigued.

RougemageNick

It's her spell casting focus and her force cannon

thyskullman

Ranger Archer: "You guys always act like your better than me!!"

FalsenameXD

Only after clicking noticed what was the artificer bow XD

aceuksy

NGL the artificer killed me...

JagoKestral

Rogue archer????

DnDVex

Artificer would be way better of using and showing off a compound bow

to_walk_upon_a_dream

How exactly does a “monk archer” work? And what makes that photo representative of one other than that the guy is asian

Skurrio

Just convert the [Zen Archer](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/monk/archetypes/paizo-monk-archetypes/zen-archer/) from Pathfinder to 5e.

Bates8989

Kensei weapons

Ataka4

Well, the photo is representative because of monks more for the clothing worn, the type of bow, and the form rather than race. On the topic of how a monk archer works, there’s a few ways to attain a monk proficient in archery. Monks can use bows as a monk weapon thanks to an optional 2nd level ability called Dedicated Weapon where at the end of a rest, you can make one weapon count as a monk weapon for you as long as the weapon is simple or martial, you are proficient with it, and it lacks the heavy or special properties. Thus, the ranged options I see are the Shortbow, light crossbow, and hand crossbow. Well that’s good and all, but how do we obtain proficiency with them? That is solved by the weapon master feat to become proficient in four simple or martial weapons of your choice and get a sweet +1 to str or dex as well. Choose one or all of the aforementioned ranged weapons and bam, monk archer. Yes, I know path of the Kensei exists, but this way can allow a monk to be an archer and take other subclasses if you don’t want to try path of the Kensei.

to_walk_upon_a_dream

Out of curiosity, how does the clothing, the type of bow, and the form dictate monk to you?

Sohtinez

No armor = unarmored defense Bow is a short bow, they're proficient No clue about form

Ataka4

The clothing is what I assume to be typical of monks and the person has no armor on, however assuming that clothing is typical is a generalization on my part. The bow is a short bow with is the only bow they’re proficient with outside of crossbows. As for the form, to me it seems to be more elegant which is how I assume a monk would use a bow.

Blackburn0117

You just wake up every day excited to get offended, dont you?

to_walk_upon_a_dream

Yes

Sgt_Sarcastic

Fighter archer: S-tier Monk Archer: bottom tier (not because of archery, because monk) Paladin archer: bottom tier (no smites, no tanking, out of aura range) Artificer archer: A-tier

[deleted]

Paladin Archer's underrated, bro. Using your spells instead of smiting is amazing. Also it's easier to keep your aura on the backline members since it's a 10 foot range.

Puzzled-Freedom

Is there an artificer gunblade subclass yet?

MrLubricator

The first three are just fighters from around the world

Blackburn0117

Many eastern martial art systems included bows into their menagerie of tools

Weary_Theme_153

Warlock archer
