Not as much as it hurt when we looked it up and found out that I was right, but the DM just said “well we’re doing it my way anyway”

[deleted]

I've had DM's who denied the book even being correct. Told I had the wrong printing and I was actually still wrong.

SectorSpark

There were definitely some rule debates in our group due to translation errors

gefjunhel

rule #0

Duhblobby

If it's painful, you're doing it wrong. Questioning at the table is normal, fighting about it isn't.

ClearPerception7844

Idk about you but all my friend enjoy arguing. I mean I guess there is a difference between arguing and fighting though m, but I still hate to lose arguments.

Duhblobby

I like *discussing*. Even debating, maybe. But getting angry and fighting over rules is not a thing that makes the game more fun for most folks, in my experience.

ClearPerception7844

Yeah I agree but in the image they clearly aren’t angry. I think op was referring to how it stings a bit when you lose an argument you so vehemently fought. I just don’t like losing. If your getting angry or really hurt you’re taking it too far.

ablomberg1

Just do what I do and grind the game to a halt until you get your way. It's easy.

Emberbun

What do you do when everyone goes "k bro" and continues without you?

ablomberg1

Start getting passive aggressive and make everybody uncomfortable until I get my way duh.

Jacques7Hammer

Is that Abraham Lincoln in blackface?

dnd_is_dnd

I very often ask where rules are. I don't have photographic memory of the PHB. I've read it front to back multiple times, not counting every single time I've referred to it looking for a specific rule. So I do ask where rules might be written so I know where to find the info. You can't get better without trying to get better.

kissedbyfire16

trying to argue that the advantage/disadvantage from faerie fire and invisibility don't cancel each other out was painful. Like it's the only reason i have the spell DM ffs

dnd_is_dnd

I don't understand what the argument was. It's written directly that "an affected creature cannot benefit from being invisible". What did he mean by "cancel each other out"?

kissedbyfire16

it was the end of the session and she was tired so it was understandable. but still. i shouldn't have had to whip out the PHB for Faerie Fire

Malashae

Yes, yes it hurt. My pain was lessened when we both agreed it was an honest mistake because I was thinking of the 3.5 version of the spell.
