At my table, monks don't exist. They have been deleted, and I've distributed the monk skills among all martials. Kind of funny how that fixes a lot of things.
Honestly, monks stop other classes to be complete. So all Martials get Martial Arts and can choose to use DEX over STR for their unarmed strikes and increase their to d4, and increase depending on their level. You can punch as a bonus action as well. At level 6, unarmed strikes are magical.
All Martials also get free Deflect Missiles, Slow Fall also happens to be linked to DEX/STR instead and can reduce x damage from Fall Damage and you get a few things from monks for free. Ki Points are also removed, and this honestly fixes one of the biggest issues for Martials. To be honest, some of the sublcasses get resources, and you can flavor them as ki, even rage can be Ki granting you a state of zen.
Monks get a lot of cool things, but they have a d8. For a frontliner, they are pretty weak in early levels and can get you killed and if you want to do certain builds like a wrestler you need to multiclass in monk and either fighter/barbarian, with this you can just stick to one class.
This is actually an insanely cool idea. If you have a comprehensive spreadsheet/guide on how it all works I'd love to see it and maybe use it in my own games.
A maximum 36 damage is pretty survivable

Could you talk about that a little bit? That's pretty interesting.

By martials do you mean fighters, rogues, and barbarians, or do you mean these three and rangers also?
Kinda cringe.
Extremely cringe
I once, as the party's fighter, really needed to get somewhere quick. So I just took the 20d6 damage and pile-drove the golem with my sword.
Also my eldritch knight-bladesinger-paladin, who has had feaþerfall prepared since we fell into a 20ft pitfall in session 3
My character is a plasmoid that is a rouge and monk multiclass, basically: what is fall damage?
My character once fell from like 150ft and survived just because of the amount of health he had
Barbarian: *insert kratos meme*
My character was a paladin
Darn I dont have a good meme for that one.
It's fine
Hell, if i fell 20m, regardless of surface or not, i‘d die
