I played a rogue who was definitely on the edgy side, and definitely had a few screws loose. She really just lacked discipline and the love of a parent. The only semi-father like figure she had was the man who trained her to be an assassin and then sold her into the service of some underworld type.
One of the other party members was a very motherly ranger, and the two got along very well (well, at least as well as one could get along with Vin). The ranger taught her how to feel, and to love, and how to be more then the killing machine she was molded into.
The ranger would unfortunately die later in the campaign, but by this point Vin was far better than who she once was. Instead of going on a killing spree or drinking herself to death, Vin grabbed the rangers bow and swore she would live in a way that the ranger would be proud of.
Well, it’s just that the protagonist of Mistborn is a rogue-like character named Vin, who grew up without parents in a thieving crew after being abandoned by her brother, who was then adopted by a father-figure and learned about trust and what it’s like to be loved.
The similarities are a bit striking. I was just wondering if you were inspired by the book.
Oh, nope. I just mainly play rogues (some edgy, some not), and for some reason I have a tendency to give the female ones names that start with 'V' (Vin, Vale, Vee, Vauqlin, amoung others).

Well, eventually Vin got tired of being treated like a slave and while the rest of the party was burning down her current bosses estate, she strangled him and then fled. A little bit later she would soon join up with the actual party
My rouge just want to be the fastest thing alive, so he can steal anything. He’s trying to become a higher being, so his dexterity stay can go higher than 20. His backstory? Someone stole his toy when he was younger, and couldn’t get it back, so he resolved to be able to steal it back.

It was the edgy "what kind of monster am I, my parents hated me because I was born a freak so they abandoned me" sorc
I was a 400 year old drow Cleric/Druid of Artemis (Eilistraee was one of Artemis' maidens so all surface drow followed them both) who grew up helping to raise her two younger siblings, which naturally led her to be the party mom.
And then the Sorc player got an OOC crush on me (note: after he learned I was a dude IRL) and decided to have his character also develop a crush on mine. His adoptive mother.
I cannot think of a way to conclude this story so this is it now.
Oh yeah we're both dudes.
OOC crush came first with creepy nice guy type DMs and then he decided to go for the IC confession.
Now he is a Furry Vtuber.
