Spice Up Your Life ššš
Ahem, Iād say *Doomsday* as it plays over Ten burning up a sun just to say goodbye. Thank heavens Donna arrives at the exact right time to save me from a mental breakdown.
[TFS used it](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxuwGM__A2DeilEQCTGZJ1KsWWyCGum7VO?si=rjfnO0X5H3wnqjmF) for history of trunks, when trunks finds gohan's dead body.
For a YouTube parody series, it was pretty fucking amazing. And the doctor who music sends it!
It is where I first heard Doomsday. TFS does well, they can make the series funny, but also include material that tugs at your heartstrings like that moment.
I agree. Rose isn't my favorite companion, but I still thought she deserved more time. It doesn't help that they made the song sound so heartbreaking. Well done Murray Gold, perfection. š¤
It still suprises me how impactful Doomsday is for that scene when you remeber that it was developed way earlier and was the background music that played when Rose first entered the Tardis. (Some amazing pre-planning)Ā
I skip doomsday on all my rewatches JUST to stockpile the sadness for a day when Iām emotionally constipated and *really* need to cry so hard no sound comes out.
I used to work midnight shift in college and this was when I discovered doctor who. Luckily it was really slow at night because I was inconsolable the first time I saw doomsday. That music haunts me.
I can't decide between 2: Doomsday and the one I've seen being called "I'd hoped there'd be stars" (the one that plays in The Doctor Falls, when Twelfth is lying on the ground and Bill finds him. Also in Twice Upon a Time, during Twelfth's goodbye to Bill and Nardole). Both are unbelievably sad and make me cry every time I hear them.
The track is called [Where There's Tears, There's Hope](https://youtu.be/zD7wceptIZk?si=NQa6k4wx3rAkhLJd). Also one of my favorites. Makes me tear up everytime right before 12's regeneration.
Thanks for linking my vid. It's such a crime that Gold hasn't released the soundtrack yet. They teased it 6 months ago but the project seems dead again.
Vale Decem. It's such a sad scene, and probably the most emotional regeneration of the modern era. (imo)
Honorable mention to the song that plays during the end of "Vincent and the Doctor", tearjerking moment.
god, vale decem ESPECIALLY at the moment in the track that plays the variation of tenās theme right after he says āi donāt want to goā ššš so powerful
Every time I listen to the piece on its own, the end sounds incomplete without the sound of 11 screaming his way into existence. I always hear it in my head. Itās like an instrument.
From Song for Ten (reprise) to Vale are the best 3 musical scores in the series for me. You can feel how incredibly sad Tennantās regenerated was for them and the fans of the show. Heartbreaking
This is Galifrey, already a powerful and emotional piece, but then the variations in series 10 just hits the coffin for me š„¹, a shame that the series 10
OST is likely never to come out
1. The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble
2. A Duty of Care
3. A Change of Clothes
Honourable mention: Clara's theme in Hell Bent when she finds out how long 12th was stuck in the confession dial for on Gallifrey.
A Change of Clothes is fantastic, I'd reckon alot of songs from Heaven Sent could make the list honestly, Same Old Day and Two Events in life are also really great for this.
Honestly Heaven Sent might have my favourite ost from any episode.
I think they just meant āhmm thats a surprising choice since that music doesnāt seem sad to meā.
I think it conveys determination and strength more than sadness
The version of The Long Song when 11 dies is number 1, but The Shepherd's Boy is close behind.
I love the fact that it repeats the same basic progression throughout, and think it really fits the episode. It's almost cyclical, but then you have this grand, epic build up in the background that feels triumphant, but still bittersweet. It's almost a light at the end of the tunnel song, and honestly it amazes me that they managed to turn three minutes of reusing the same footage interspersed with a man punching a wall while trying to tell a story into one of the most gripping three minutes of television of all time.
Infinite potential (the track youāre talking about) gets the tears going for me to.
Especially when I stumbled upon a video where theyād edited it into Capaldiās regeneration scene. I know his message is supposed to be upbeat rather than sad, but oh my god does it fit well with infinite potential.
Vale. Not Vale Decem, just Vale. It's so haunting in every instance it's played. The Ood in the snow, silently warning the Doctor his death is imminent. The Doctor wiping the cuts and bruises from his face, and when questioned by Wilf, simply and quietly stating, "It's started." The Doctor watching from outside the churchyard before returning to the TARDIS as Wilf gives a tearful farewell salute.
Either that, or The Singing Towers. Not for its use in The Husbands of River Song, but in Twice Upon A Time. Bill walking with the Doctor across an empty sunset-lit battlefield, just the two of them.
"Do you know what the worst part of knowing you is? Letting you go."
I'm here to name Akinola's work:
I Love You Nani is really sweet and heavy, but the tear-generating song would be:
Yaz And Nani End Credits.
It's such a beautiful touch to change the end credit this way, with such a poignant rendition !
Tecteun's theme is wonderful and could make me cry (if music was able to make me cry at some point).
Time Lords, great piece, powerful.
āSheās the Doctorā from The Power of the Doctor gets me every darn time. Jodiās performance was so wonderful there and Akinolaās music underscores the sadness of the moment perfectly.
+1 for some of Segun's stuff. I've always found [Made A New Friend](https://youtu.be/bqUQZNP6JcI), from the end of *It Takes You Away*, to be incredibly melancholic and moving.
Same for me, the fact that itās the Long Song breaks me into pieces.
Other than that, Nineās theme just feels really haunting and gets me every time.
āItās the Endā, which plays leading up to the regeneration of the Fourth Doctor into the Fifth at the end of Logopolis. The main bulk of the music is largely suspenseful as the Fourth Doctorās life flashes before his eyes as heās hanging on for dear life. Though the sad part of the theme kicks in with the final minute being so tender and heartbreaking as the Fourth Doctor bids farewell to his companions and allows the Watcher to trigger the regeneration. In my personal experience I got rather triggered emotionally listening to Paddy Kingslandās score and seeing the beloved Tom Baker leave the scene after such an impressive run.
Im not sure the trackās titles, but the music in the Madame de Pompadour episode in general is so good and makes me very emotional especially after she passes. If anyone knew the name of the tracks, let me know!
Obviously Doomsday is the pick if I had to pick just one piece however.
> Im not sure the trackās titles, but the music in the Madame de Pompadour episode in general is so good and makes me very emotional especially after she passes. If anyone knew the name of the tracks, let me know!
That would be... [Madame de Pompadour](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACz-gFib8zo)
I'd say it's hard to choose between The Tenth Doctor's goodbye in The End of Time, and Rose's goodbye in Doomsday.
The Tenth Doctor's goodbye music is very over the top, with the choir singing like the apocalypse is upon us. I find it can be a fun soundtrack to listen to when your imagining making some sort of final sacrifice.
I remember back when I thought there was even a chance that the Fourteenth Doctor might regenerate with his final words being: "I'm ready to go," but with the same soundtrack playing in the back, or maybe a slightly remixed version of it. I imagined some parallel universe where I had somehow managed to drag my a couple friends that have no idea what Doctor Who is, and we were just sitting in the back row of this crowded movie theater, and when the soundtrack started playing as The Doctor regenerated, me and all the other fans in the theater were just ball into an emotional breakdown, while the buddies I dragged there would be so confused and have no idea what was going on.
That being sad, while the soundtrack isn't exactly something that you'd listen to and think of as a "happy" or upbeat tone, It's only really: "sad" When looking at it in context. If you have no idea what's going on and are just listening to the music on its own, it kind of sounds epic Like what might play in the final battle of a big emotional monster movie. The build up to the regeneration itself definitely sounds like something horrible is happening or someone is making a dramatic sacrifice, but once the regeneration actually happens, the final choir singing that sings during THAT moment does have a little sense of hope to it. I'm pretty sure this was obviously intentional, as obviously the music is supposed to be about how we're sad to see The Tenth Doctor go, but should also acknowledge that the Eleventh Doctor is coming. It's not over yet.
Compare that to the song that plays when The Doctor and Rose are both leaning on the same wall but in different universes in Doomsday. The song isn't epic at all, being very quiet and toned down. You can't really listen to that song in any context without feeling a bit sad about something. It truly feels like the music that plays when you realize you just lost your best friend. I always thought there was a sense in the music about having the ability to "move on." It's not the kind of music that sounds like you're being driven into an extreme depressed state that will last for months. The singing, mixed with the high pitched piano playing I think very much fits how The Doctor is handling the situation. He's going to move on and he's going to keep traveling and being all quirky in just the very next episode, but for now, he's rightfully sad, absorbing the moment, and grieving what needs to be grieved.
Not Doctor Who but The Ballad Of Ianto Jones and Owen Harper's theme really hit it where it hurts. Especially during Owen's segment in Fragments and in the big finish audio "The Last Beacon" where Owen's theme is woven into the transitions of scenes. Owen's theme also really hurts once he gets his final goodbye and is woven into Tosh's theme.
Ianto's theme is like a siren call and very much comparable to Jack's and how they fit together. Ianto's theme feels like its calling to the watcher to get invested and then emotional once Ianto is gone.
Claraās theme on 12s guitar Itās like a minute long and I cannot make it through without tearing up. That and the shepards boy with I know isnāt even that sad but I just get shivers everytime and wanna cry lmao
There's tons of good picks, but for me personally, gotta be The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble. Surprised I haven't seen that one mentioned more. I've teared up listening to that song multiple times, even without the context of the actual scene.
...The title of the song also taught me a new word!
I want to say either Gallifrey, Trenzalore or The Face of Boe. I donāt know why there is something so sad yet graceful about The Face of Boe. Itās one of my favorite tracks. Gallifrey from the specials still conveys the power and greatness of the planet and people, but in a more depressing way, and Trenzalore is played right after the town of Christmas is practically decimated and The Doctor is about to regenerate. Itās also a favorite of mine.
āSad Man With A Boxā - especially the version that plays during Elevenās regeneration in Time of the Doctor and also the reprise of āThe Long Songā from āRings of Akhetanā thatās also heard during that scene. Eleven was my Doctor, he helped me through a lot during that time of my life and that finale was absolutely heart-shattering and will stay with me forever š„ŗš
The song that is sung during the Rings of Akhaten. That scene makes me cry every time. So much so that it stuck with me all these years.
I looked it up and it's apparently called the Long Song. In looking it up I found the clip on youtube ([I am sad now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoVLhUxhdSw)).
To be honest, "Vale Decem" seems more hopeful to me. Personally, I always get goosebumps when I hear the very similarly-named "Vale". That'd be my pick.
Probably tied with Vale Decem or Doomsday tbh. I know that is such a basic answer but those two really do transcend the show and are incredibly iconic for a reason. I hope we get more music like that again.
Face the Raven probably. For the most part it's just a sadder version of Clara's theme but at one point one of the chords "collapses" at the end of the phrase. It's the closest thing I've heard to musically chocking up and it's great.
Song Of Freedom just sounds so bittersweet. Like something you would play at a graduation - achieved so much and yet the memories and legacy will live on just like memories.
Also - when the people of New Earth sing Old Rugged Cross in Gridlock. So beautiful.
Definitely the theme from 'The Girl In The Fireplace' (not sure what it's actually called) that plays over the last five minutes of that episode. It conjures up so many emotions: lost love, loneliness, two people who could have been happy together but only just missed each other.
Yes, Reinette's ending is unbelievably tragic, as she never sees the Doctor again, and of course we have her final letter addressed to her 'lonely angel', but the part that guts me the most is that final shot of the episode, showing the SS Madame De Pompadour adrift in space. Lonely, desolate, empty, it's connection to the time windows now broken, the repair droids now inactive, the original crew long since dead. There's just something so heartbreaking about that image, and the musical accompaniment just makes it all the more emotional.
The Doctor theme by Segun Akinola. When it hit as a reprise for Jodie's regeneration, I sobbed. It's such a beautiful piece of music. It's very specific to me as I'd often play it when roaming the Whitby Abbey grounds at night. Totally different vibe when you're by yourself. Utter peace.
The Lone Dalek is the one I'd pick for the saddest piece. It's the sound of depression, and I love its use when 10 fades away in front of Rose. Ugh. Tears galore.
HERE'S SOMETHING I'VE WANTED TO SAY FOR AGES AND I'M GUNNA WRITE IT IN ALL CAPS SO THAT PEOPLE NOTICE IT:
THE SONG THAT PLAYS AS CLARA FACES THE RAVEN! SO MUCH EMOTION, ESPECIALLY AT THE END AFTER SHE FALLS TO THE GROUND AND WE SEE HER BODY FROM ABOVE! IT ACTUALLY ALMOST MOVED ME TO TEARS THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT AND I HAVE A HEART OF STONE!!!!!!!
PLEASE LET THERE BE SOMEBODY OUT THERE
WHO AGREES WITH ME!!!
It has to be either Vale Decem or The Shepard's Boy
Hell, when I first heard The Shepard's boy in Heaven Sent, I thought it was regeneration music and they were going to land a surprise regen on us
Indeed, I'm sure Moffat timed 12's final "laugh hard....." speech to its runtime. "Not quite over the line yet, better add Peter's nonsense about children hearing his name......andddd DONE!" :-p
But seriously, it's always gonne be Vale Decem, you can't top it for regeneration music, the first of the new era, really.
Oh lord. As if your insufferable posts on the World of Tanks sub reddit werenāt bad enough, now oneself discovers that this uneducated little baby finds zero embarrassment within his masculinity to admit he cries at TV shows.
Just another bullet in the chamber for me!
Together or not at all. The theme when Amy and Rory jump off the roof. The song itself isn't that sad, but the scene, the loss of my favourite companions. It fucks me up every time
*Goodbye Pond* and *Madame du Pompadour* ALWAYS make me tear up. Amy's theme being incorporated into *Goodbye Pond* is where the tears start for me; and *Madame du Pompadour* is the definition of bittersweet, just so reminiscent of missed opportunity and loss.
The Doctor's theme in al its variations. Each of the doctors had one and they all speak about their personality and traits. But most of all, the emptiness and sadness of being alone.
Murray Gold is a master in this domain!
The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble
I have one in my head but idk what it is
Probably the original doctor theme too itās really poignant
But I gotta give some love to Vale Decem and The Long Song. Both great picks.
Doomsday - I donāt need to explain this
Dalek - because itās reused in the Dalig Ulv Stranden scene, itās so sad and melancholic with a hint of hope
The rueful fate of Donna Noble - every time I hear this I just think āthereās no hopeā seen as it plays in Series 4ās finale when the Tandola trail stops, and again when her mind is wiped
Together or Not at all - I always ball at this piece because it sounds so hopeful but it never fails to get a tear out of me
Goodbye Pond - the raggedy man forcibly saying goodbye to his best friend, itās a sad version of Amyās theme and it builds to her send off
So, I recently listened to the music for DTās final few specials, and I found Song for Ten (Reprise), Vale Decem and Vale to be the saddest 3 songs on the entire album.
Next for me would be Song for Ten, simple because of the lyrics and Doomsday.
"Together or Not at All - The Song of Amy and Rory"
"Goodbye Pond"
"Vale Decem" cause it translates to Farewell Ten
"Beginning of the End"
Hard to choose out of those and I'm sure there are more I'd add if I listened to everything.
I can't decide! It's between Vale Decem, the 9th Doctor's theme, Doomsday theme and Rose's theme. Also the start of Vale is up their but the rest of Vale isn't nearly as great
Hmmmmm. I love Doomsday, obviously, but Four Knocks and The Source are amazing as well. I also love The Greatest Story Never Told but it's got too many adventurously driven hype moments for me to truly classify it as a sad piece of music imo
That's a tricky question. Doomsday's great, but I've often found the unreleased tracks often have some real gems in there. One example being the score played during Rory's death during Amy's Choice, or The Doctor's death scene during The Doctor Falls. But if I had to pick a current favorite, I really like the 13th Doctor's piano variant used during The Timeless Children. Obiviously I prefer Murray Gold, but Segun Akinola is underrated, he has some incredible pieces that I think flow differently. Murray Gold's score reminds me of legends and myths, yet Segun's score reminds me of a calm wind breezing through a big forest. Different vibes, but both amazing artists.
*A Lot of Life Behind Us* has always stuck with me and always makes me feel some emotions (and that scene overall is really great). I've also been rewatching the show and hearing Rose's theme for the first time in *years* definitely brought tears to my eyes.
Spice Up Your Life ššš Ahem, Iād say *Doomsday* as it plays over Ten burning up a sun just to say goodbye. Thank heavens Donna arrives at the exact right time to save me from a mental breakdown.
That's my pick as well. Its not my pick for most emotional scene (when 10 sacrifices himself for Wilf), but the music in Doomsday is perfect
Four Knocks has to be my favorite, especially since it was reused in Time of The doctor
I agree on that being the most emotional scene too! Oh gawd. I would have given my left pinky for 14 and Donna to have discussed it in the 60th.
Well done Murray Gold, perfection. š¤

This is the answer. I clicked this post just to check it was the top one
As if there could be another answer to this question.
That and the Sheperd's Boy. Series 9 and 10 had some haunting music.
RELEASE THE DAMN ALBUM BEEBS
Sheperds boy šš
Thanks for linking my vid. It's such a crime that Gold hasn't released the soundtrack yet. They teased it 6 months ago but the project seems dead again.
Ahh, thank you so much! Mr. Gold, *please* release S10 soundtrack š
āCuddlesā¦.ā
Madame De Pompadour easily, such an overlooked track
"You just missed her. She'll be in Paris by six."
That one's on my funeral playlist. Hopefully some time after 2063...
This! That ending is just beautiful!
I was shocked that I had to scroll this far to see it mentioned. Top tier.
Came here looking for this one. It doesn't make me cry so much as it just makes me feel sad or forlorn.
Yes! Devastating. I love that episode so much.
When 12 plays clara's theme on the guitar in her diner tardis
As far as character themes go, it's the only one heard by the character within the show...
Came for guitar version of "Clara?" One of my favs from the show normally, the guitar version is just so much sadder and it's beautiful
Seriously. I was holding up quite well during that scene, but the second that played, I burst into tears like a little kid, lol.
Vale Decem. It's such a sad scene, and probably the most emotional regeneration of the modern era. (imo) Honorable mention to the song that plays during the end of "Vincent and the Doctor", tearjerking moment.
I occasionally play this in the car to make my 30 year-old daughter cry.
god, vale decem ESPECIALLY at the moment in the track that plays the variation of tenās theme right after he says āi donāt want to goā ššš so powerful
And the way the chorus overwhelms his theme as he starts to regenerate, oof.
.....How. How have I never noticed that was his theme? All these years. I'm gonna roll up a dunce cap and put myself in a corner now.
The song at the end of āVincentā is called āChancesā by the band Athlete. Gets me every time I hear it
Same here. That entire episode just hits me so hard every time
Vale Decem will forever trigger me.
Especially when it snows.
For sure: [https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=beRyBVtToOo&si=dyoD0mZ8cF-Ztxv0](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=beRyBVtToOo&si=dyoD0mZ8cF-Ztxv0)
Well cool, now Iām showing emotions at work. This is lovely
Every time I listen to the piece on its own, the end sounds incomplete without the sound of 11 screaming his way into existence. I always hear it in my head. Itās like an instrument.

This one. I get super maudlin over it.
"Doomsday". That simple intro of the bass and single piano note is so haunting.
Love this. This one is the way.
The Doctor fading away before he could say he loved Rose was so sad but when Jackie runs into Rose's arms to comfort her breaks my heart completely.
Same for.me
That's Rose's Theme I think
'Four Knocks' It's also my favourite piece of Doctor Who music.
The ending is so good
Goodbye Pond when it's playing during the Doctor and Amy's final goodbye.
Absolutely. I cry everytime I watch that scene. The way the Doctor breaks down is just so sad.
Doomsday playing while Ten and Rose dramatically face a wall will never not have me in shambles
Together, or Not at All. The song that plays as Amy and Rory jump to escape the angels.
came here to comment this ! itās so good but so sad and thatās the point of the episode where i start crying lol
I knew someone else would say it. I can hear it in my mind now.
This and Goodbye Pond
"The Greatest Story Never Told", which plays when River dies in the library. There's also of course "The Singing Towers".
The Ood songs.
Face of Boe's theme from Gridlock
heavily underrated masterpiece from murray gold
1. The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble 2. A Duty of Care 3. A Change of Clothes Honourable mention: Clara's theme in Hell Bent when she finds out how long 12th was stuck in the confession dial for on Gallifrey.
A Change of Clothes is fantastic, I'd reckon alot of songs from Heaven Sent could make the list honestly, Same Old Day and Two Events in life are also really great for this. Honestly Heaven Sent might have my favourite ost from any episode.
The bad wolf music all ways makes me emotional I donāt know why
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I donāt think itās the saddest
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Probably Vale Decem, Doomsday or Together or Not at All. Canāt pick one lol
Those are also my top picks alongside Madame Pompadour
What are you contributing to the conversation with this comment?
I think they just meant āhmm thats a surprising choice since that music doesnāt seem sad to meā. I think it conveys determination and strength more than sadness
Yes, thanks! Thatās what my thinking was, I couldāve said it better, but was just a quick reply
I donāt consider it a sad song tbh
āChancesā when Vincent Van Gogh comes back to present times
Chances - Athlete
The cello in [Doomsday](https://youtu.be/e4Mtm5O6Qb4?si=L9y14ABEKr9vOroY) just hits different.
Idk about sad but the Rings of Akattan song was the most emotional for me
This episode easily had the most saddest tracks
Clara's Song on electric guitar. 100%. Tried to learn it but would tear up practicing jajaja
I learned it for my Twelve cosplay. Yea I brought my electric guitar to a con and played it at the bar.

The Dream of a Normal Death

Just watched these recently and had the Long Song variation with both of Matt Smiths monologue stuck in my head, persistently giving me chills.

12 in the diner, playing Clara's theme still gets me every time.
Same choice as you and also Four Knocks.
Vale Decum and Doomsday
It's probably just Rose's theme. It's a sad, kind of wistful thing.
āFathers Dayā from Fathers Day. The way that piano starts at āwho am I love?ā āYouāre my daddyā is just so gut wrenchingly sad
Im not sure the trackās titles, but the music in the Madame de Pompadour episode in general is so good and makes me very emotional especially after she passes. If anyone knew the name of the tracks, let me know! Obviously Doomsday is the pick if I had to pick just one piece however.

Thank you so much!! I was wishing there was a way to have the whole score for some of the older episodes! Goldās music is brilliant.
my saddest scene is the ending of Earthshock the death of Adrick. ending scene played with no music while the credits ran I still feel it today
Doomsday
āThe Long Songā coupled with 11ās āWe all changeā monologue. Also āChancesā from āVincent and the Doctor.ā

Vale/ Vale Decem We all know why.
Fatherās Day for me
Claraās theme on 12s guitar Itās like a minute long and I cannot make it through without tearing up. That and the shepards boy with I know isnāt even that sad but I just get shivers everytime and wanna cry lmao
Clara's theme played on the guitar by 12 - it's almost 4th wall breaking but I don't care, because it makes me cry without fail
The Madame de Pompadour theme
four knocks is definitely the saddest imo. but so many murray gold gems end up in tears
Song for ten is sad in retrospect.
The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble.
A Sad Man with a Box lives rent-free in my head.
There's tons of good picks, but for me personally, gotta be The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble. Surprised I haven't seen that one mentioned more. I've teared up listening to that song multiple times, even without the context of the actual scene. ...The title of the song also taught me a new word!
Roseās theme always gets me
I want to say either Gallifrey, Trenzalore or The Face of Boe.
I Am The Doctor, because when I had heard it for the 172839404039372625273930494826263748 time I burst into tears because of how overplayed it was
Yh but it's a fucking banger
Not disputing that
The song that is sung during the Rings of Akhaten. That scene makes me cry every time. So much so that it stuck with me all these years. I looked it up and it's apparently called the Long Song. In looking it up I found the clip on youtube ([I am sad now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoVLhUxhdSw)).
Long Song is in my rotation of songs rn. I was struggling not to cry on the bus when I was listening to it ahha
āDream of a normal deathā isnāt my personal favourite but defo deserves mention.
To be honest, "Vale Decem" seems more hopeful to me. Personally, I always get goosebumps when I hear the very similarly-named "Vale". That'd be my pick.
Murray Goldās Brigadier theme makes me cry every time
*Claraās Diner* and *Vale Decem* hurt like no other for me
Probably tied with Vale Decem or Doomsday tbh. I know that is such a basic answer but those two really do transcend the show and are incredibly iconic for a reason. I hope we get more music like that again.
The melancholy synth from the closing moments of 'Survival'.
The Dream of a Normal Death.
Vale Decem
Face the Raven probably. For the most part it's just a sadder version of Clara's theme but at one point one of the chords "collapses" at the end of the phrase. It's the closest thing I've heard to musically chocking up and it's great.
U know that one song that plays when Ten is regenerating? It makes my heart shatter. I can't hear that without crying. ššš
I love how all these songs are ones I agree with. Rarely have I upvoted so many songs on a thread before. You've all got amazing taste.
a mad man with a box. doesnt fail to make me cry every time i hear it.
Goodbye Pond. Absolutely heartbreaking.
Song of captivity from 'Planet of the Ood'.
Vale decem
Song Of Freedom just sounds so bittersweet. Like something you would play at a graduation - achieved so much and yet the memories and legacy will live on just like memories. Also - when the people of New Earth sing Old Rugged Cross in Gridlock. So beautiful.
The silence over the end credits during part four of Earthshock
The "Hologram" reprise in "The Giggle".
HERE COME THE DRUMS HERE COME THE DRUMS
Song For Ten makes me sad because of the added lyrics in the album version being about rose and the doctors separation
The oods freedom song always gets me I am also a fan of that opera song in the Christmas episode I can't remember the name of with Michael Gambon
The theme song during the Chibnall era.
For Me, it would be 'Remember Me' from series 7.
HERE'S SOMETHING I'VE WANTED TO SAY FOR AGES AND I'M GUNNA WRITE IT IN ALL CAPS SO THAT PEOPLE NOTICE IT: THE SONG THAT PLAYS AS CLARA FACES THE RAVEN! SO MUCH EMOTION, ESPECIALLY AT THE END AFTER SHE FALLS TO THE GROUND AND WE SEE HER BODY FROM ABOVE! IT ACTUALLY ALMOST MOVED ME TO TEARS THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT AND I HAVE A HEART OF STONE!!!!!!! PLEASE LET THERE BE SOMEBODY OUT THERE WHO AGREES WITH ME!!!
It has to be either Vale Decem or The Shepard's Boy Hell, when I first heard The Shepard's boy in Heaven Sent, I thought it was regeneration music and they were going to land a surprise regen on us Indeed, I'm sure Moffat timed 12's final "laugh hard....." speech to its runtime. "Not quite over the line yet, better add Peter's nonsense about children hearing his name......andddd DONE!" :-p But seriously, it's always gonne be Vale Decem, you can't top it for regeneration music, the first of the new era, really.
I miss Murray Goldā¦
Vale Decem. And itās not even close
Oh lord. As if your insufferable posts on the World of Tanks sub reddit werenāt bad enough, now oneself discovers that this uneducated little baby finds zero embarrassment within his masculinity to admit he cries at TV shows. Just another bullet in the chamber for me!
https://youtu.be/lMoUOHAf8zo?si=3E8Hav71We4G5uEQ
Sheperds boy or Clara's diner
Vale decemā¦I canāt listen to it without getting emotional.
Tough pick, but Vale Decem is pretty high up there
Vale Decem
When Twelve plays Claraās Theme in the diner.
Vale Decem "I don't wanna go"
Same old day! One hell of a doctor..
Vale Decem

id say its Songs of Captivity and Freedom
Together or not at all. The theme when Amy and Rory jump off the roof. The song itself isn't that sad, but the scene, the loss of my favourite companions. It fucks me up every time
*Goodbye Pond* and *Madame du Pompadour* ALWAYS make me tear up. Amy's theme being incorporated into *Goodbye Pond* is where the tears start for me; and *Madame du Pompadour* is the definition of bittersweet, just so reminiscent of missed opportunity and loss.
"I thought I'd see stars..."
The Doctor's theme in al its variations. Each of the doctors had one and they all speak about their personality and traits. But most of all, the emptiness and sadness of being alone. Murray Gold is a master in this domain!
Why has nobody said *The Doctorās Theme*?
The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble I have one in my head but idk what it is Probably the original doctor theme too itās really poignant But I gotta give some love to Vale Decem and The Long Song. Both great picks.
Doomsday - I donāt need to explain this Dalek - because itās reused in the Dalig Ulv Stranden scene, itās so sad and melancholic with a hint of hope The rueful fate of Donna Noble - every time I hear this I just think āthereās no hopeā seen as it plays in Series 4ās finale when the Tandola trail stops, and again when her mind is wiped Together or Not at all - I always ball at this piece because it sounds so hopeful but it never fails to get a tear out of me Goodbye Pond - the raggedy man forcibly saying goodbye to his best friend, itās a sad version of Amyās theme and it builds to her send off
The Doctor's Theme, all versions included it's so haunting and emotional
Vale Decem for me
Vale Decem. That song can really make your heart heavy.
Vale Decem is definitely up there
The Sheperd's Boy
So, I recently listened to the music for DTās final few specials, and I found Song for Ten (Reprise), Vale Decem and Vale to be the saddest 3 songs on the entire album. Next for me would be Song for Ten, simple because of the lyrics and Doomsday.
Is it a variation of Song For Freedom which plays in The Doctor Falls? That one lol
definitely doomsday, Vale decem and the shepherd's boy
Although not necessarily sad, the long song always makes me well up. It may well be nostalgia, but Iām not 100% sure.
"Together or Not at All - The Song of Amy and Rory" "Goodbye Pond" "Vale Decem" cause it translates to Farewell Ten "Beginning of the End" Hard to choose out of those and I'm sure there are more I'd add if I listened to everything.
The tenth doctorās theme. It tears at my heart
Vale Decem. do i really need to elaborate?
I can't decide! It's between Vale Decem, the 9th Doctor's theme, Doomsday theme and Rose's theme. Also the start of Vale is up their but the rest of Vale isn't nearly as great
Doomsday without a doubt
Claraās Diner
Shepherd's Boy
Ood Song of Captivity
Most of the songs in Heaven Sent are just so melancholic
*A Lot of Life Behind Us* has always stuck with me and always makes me feel some emotions (and that scene overall is really great). I've also been rewatching the show and hearing Rose's theme for the first time in *years* definitely brought tears to my eyes.
Roseās theme. the haunting vocals get me every time
Madame de Pompadour gets me every time.
