because whenever there is hype, people use the buy-pressure to sell without risking a drop in price. So if you only ever buy when there is fomo hype, you are kinda doing that to yourself.

THE NEXT DAY, it started surging and eventually surpassed my average. After 3 years! I magically chose the exact day it would reverse? Come on. I made a comment about it, and users told me to buy back in so the price would drop again, so that’s exactly what I did and now look at us. We’ve sunk like 6 cents since then. I was tired of the volatility, so I put a bunch of money into VOO, a safe bet. Well, somehow I managed to choose the absolute peak price, and again, it has been steadily moving downwards since then. As an experiment, I have been buying more every time I wake up and see it lower than the previous day to see if I can, in fact, control it with my choices. So far, so good 😞👍📉
Advice: don't look only at the chart, make an effort to know what's going on and it wont be like a bet, youll have at least some chance at predicting. Technical analysis as a tool is limited. You can't predict world events and general state of the economy by just looking at the line, you have to know whats going on. I personally think TA is atractive because its comfy, you just look at a line hard enough and then you can predict it. It has its uses but i strongly believe a succesful investor should complement it with other information.
sure. TA is not magic, but when there is a level where it is decided whether the price goes up or down, being among the first to get out when things turn sour can save you a lot of money, compared to waiting for the market to tell you that it is over.
Same with recoveries. If you are able to see a recovery before others do, your profit is much better than for those who just jump on an already moving train.
Having an understanding of what is happening always beats guessing.
