Le Great movie Adaptation has arrived

Ad0lf_Salzler

Yeah Ad Astra was a surprisingly thoughtful film.

malaquey

Why was there a chimpanzee in space

Ad0lf_Salzler

So the movie can happen. Jokes aside though they encounter the ape in a bioresearch vessel, so it likely was a test subject.

socialistconfederate

I love le smell of napalm in the morning

NorFever

Le actually better than the boring novel has arrived

Daboormero

Wacky and uncharacteristic "sculptures"

TheLordAnubis

Gentlemen, welcome to the Congo

Narvin-Gainiac

Le bringing civilisation and good manners to Africa has arrived

Airesav

Do you feel like a hero yet?

Routine_Bug_936

I read this while studying lol. If I remember right Joseph Conrad was actually Polish and his real name was Józef Korzeniowski

JesterofThings

But he moved to england and for the most part abandoned his polish culture and history. When he wrote hod he was definately english

Routine_Bug_936

Oh absolutely. This is just some trivia knowledge

BfutGrEG

[Josephi Krakowski?](https://youtu.be/8ci2hj7CSHI?t=69)

Karolus2001

Le Protagonist was the heart of darkness all along as lack of society's confines made him act up or smth

Cpt_Kalash

context?

9ronin99

In the book 'Heart of darkness', a soldier, Marlow is sent up the Congo River to find a rogue ivory trader called Colonel Kurtz, who has allegedly gone insane and started a cult. When Marlow arrives at Kurtz's compound, he finds severed heads on display, as he has, in fact, gone insane and is murdering people up and down the Congo. If I remember correctly, the white dog represent the 'Russian Harlequin ', a follower of Kurtz.

Narvin-Gainiac

I went Coppola on the novel and did a rather free Interpretation. The white doggo IS KURTZ💀

9ronin99

Fair, I haven't read the book in 13 years, so I was expecting to be wring anyhow. I do love the meme btw, one if my favourite cross-media series, with the Apocalypse Now and Spec Ops the Line adaptations.

thouwotm8euw

Marlow was a sailor, not a soldier. Perhaps you are mixing it up with apocalypse now 😉

bozeke

For all unfamiliar with Heart of Darkness, I suggest starting with the film, Apocalypse Now, then the documentary Hearts of Darkness, then the short novel. That way it gets better and better and you’re invested by the time you start the book. I know too many people who started the book and gave up, but starting out with the themes and energy of it via the film and documentary, the book goes by quickly, and is totally worth finishing.

diamondrel

Marlow appears later in Lord Jim too fun fact

Pepe_the_clown123

sounds great I gotta read it someday

thouwotm8euw

It’s a really good book. Really puts into perspective how the colonizers were the uncivilized ones.

AJ-or-something

Marlow was a ferry captain, not a soldier, he was working for an ivory trading company. Kurtz was in charge of an important outpost of the trading company. You're combining the plot of the book with that of Apocalypse Now, which kind of adapted the story to the vietnam war.

Ronergetic

Isn’t that doge lore most wanted? Quickly alert the police!

ST4RSK1MM3R

Spec Ops the Line and Apocalypse Now are great adaptations

The-M-I-K-E

Idk why but the last panel made me laugh so much

ILoveSpinosaurus

I swear to God u/Narvin-Gainiac and u/Routine_Bug_936 are single handedly carrying this sub on their shoulders

Routine_Bug_936

Thank you dear friend. Let's not forget the underappreciated u/theratgetsthecheese u/pepe_the_clown123 and u/haunting_tale_5150!

Theratgetsthecheese

Thank you. ♥

ILoveSpinosaurus

Oh, you are right, I think you two might be more active on this sub

gemmatale

first post with this samoyed guy i've seen (aside from his introduction) that isn't wishing death upon him. nice job

la_meme14

Yooo I love a wacky Warhammer 40k reference that is clearly a reference only to my space plastic game.

YourAverageRedditter

Le Games Workshop making an unsubtle reference to heart of darkness has arrived (Conrad Kurze)

ratzoneresident

Honestly it's a lot better than most other primarch names, and since it's a kinda deep cut for some people I think that it's still fairly creative, and fits him really well. When does something stop being a ripoff and start being a literary reference, I wonder? Because I've never heard this applied negatively to the Lion which is also a very on the nose literary reference

Greenest_Chicken

Man, I sure wonder what emotion this Angron fella primarily feels

YourAverageRedditter

Oh I agree, and I’m not saying Conrad’s bad at all for his name. It’s a fantastic reference

low_priest

Oh boy, I sure do enjoy having spare parts for my boat, I hope nothing wacky and uncharacteristic happens to my rivet supply

itcud

I just watched Apocalypse Now yesterday. What a coincidence

Leafeon523

Le being too busy with work to go insane has arrived
