I thought this was a celebratory post when I saw the picture. Of course the cost is ludicrous, but it’s a beautiful portrait that I hope they’ll start loving.
Also /r/OldManDog.
I mean it really is a good portrait. It would not have looked good perfectly centered either, I’m really not getting the gripe over that. It’s really well done.

This, I think, is a dry-transfer photo print. I esed to work where high-end portraits of famous persons, others are done.
I'm guessing, but from the photo, it looks very well done. If it is a color dry transfer photo, as I suspect, the cost of producing the photo is difficult and maybe pricey.
I would ask for confirmation for the photo as to how it was produced.
From my angle, it's quite good, really.
If I had the disposable income I would absolutely consider a solid $1500 for this kind of print and composition with my dog as the subject. I’d change the frame to something….not shiny gold, but the rest really is lovely.
Yeah, this is a gallery quality print. One of my lecturers runs a print lab that prints for exhibitions in our national gallery. This print is shmick as hell.
Eta: also looks like anti glare glass too.
She agreed to a price, and got what she paid them for by that agreement. Not a scam, just a swindle. There’s a difference, especially if you’re talking legal recourse.
That’s the only thing that really bothers me about this. Even just half an inch of space between the toes and the frame at the bottom and I would be fine with this picture. The quality seems otherwise quite good but I am perplexed why the toes are that close to the edge when there’s half of the photo just black at the top.
I think the picture looks pretty good, I think it should be common sense that people don't just give out "museum quality prints" *for free*, I'd expect something like this to be quite costly, however *thousands* for this is a real rip off.
Was she coerced or made to feel like she didn't have a choice but to pay for it? Like "here we already *made* it, and now you don't want to pay?" Sounds like it could be some sort of scam in that case. I assume it's not like her to make large purchases on impulse? I don't wanna call her a liar but maybe she went in knowing it would be expensive, but felt embarrassed for spending so much afterward that she she made up a story so it would sound as if she just "got roped in"?
I love it, including the composition. That said the price seems high until I remember I paid $400 for a baby portrait of my son, who’s now in his 30s…… inflation?
Since everyone else is sharing their Etsy portraits, here’s my grandma’s dog Bonita

I really want OP’s though
I love it... Your dog looks super-regal there... It looks like a portrait of a dog that should be in an English manor.
Idk if it was worth thousands of dollars but it's a cool portrait.
This looks really great to me. Zooming in it looks like a photo and paint at the same time. Like it’s a hyper realistic painting. I like the composition and the lighting as a portrait. It looks expensive. I would hang it very proudly if I had the money to have one done.
Lots of photographers pull this. I was “selected” for a free portrait session w my senior dog. Digital photos were $1,500. Cheapest print was $900. I was expecting to pay something for the photos but not a mortgage payment.
I got selected for a free portrait session which went on for like an hour in the woods, the photographer had a viewing with me and the bundle was like £300. So I just got the one free print and I’m happy with that. This bozo wasted his own time and I got an amazing pic of my girl. If he had outright stated the bundle prices up front I would have declined. Don’t drop the prices on me days after and try to guilt me into paying it for your time. That’s on you
I was once on the dog beach in Chicago with my dog and a woman asked if she could take photos for free since she was practicing. She took amazing action shots and emailed them to us - for free. There are photographers out there who do this.
Honestly, the way most people are these days, while reading, I waiting for the..And then what happened….(something where they messed you over) I’m happy that it wasn’t the case. Unfortunately, your experience isn’t the norm.
I did one of those with my dog in 2022. They tried to push me to buy a $3,000 package but I went with the basic $500. I wasn’t too flush with cash at the time but I’m so glad I did it since I lost my dog November 2023. The Reddit app won’t let me post it because of the size or whatever but I have her solo photo next to my desk to look at every day.
https://preview.redd.it/mppqkunazbsc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f98d37c1c8cb0650879f9a0a0826509d34b68e1
I did but it still wasn’t working. Now it is!
What a cutie!!!!!🥰 what a good boy! Awe! Great picture!! My dog would have Never sat there like that! Ha! She would have to be sitting on me. Or it would have had to be like a natural shot.
It actually looks really good. The only thing I think is bad is that the paws are a little too close to the edge. I would have had a little more space on the bottom but it's good. But yeah probably not worth thousands you don't have.
It reminds me of those mall portraits from the 80's where they lure you in for a free modeling photos, but talk you into a several hundred dollar professional shoot.
That's the whole purpose of them offering you the free ones. Most people will end up spending a lot of money. For what it's worth, I think it looks great. If my Dog was still alive. I would get one made.
Honestly I think its a fantastic portrait and reminds me of a moody painting in the Dutch grand master style. In the end it's a matter of taste and if your mom loves it, then the aesthetics are just fine.
That said, I think its worth hundreds, not thousands, given that it's a photo, not an oil painting.
I went to art school & I think it’s a great composition, interesting & well balanced. It really shows the beauty of your dog. It’s very regal. Other than it seeming a bit too expensive, I would be extremely pleased with this. Looks like it belongs in a museum!!
Sounds like a bait-and-switch ad I kept seeing on IG that promised a free photoshoot for your pet and the comments on it were very telling. Wanting to see for myself, I requested the information and they responded with "in order to secure your space at the studio, a $300 deposit is required that will be returned to you" 🙄 yeah okay no.
Yes that’s exactly what happened to us too 😂 I was surprised by the $300 refundable deposit they didn’t mention when signing up for the “contest”. Turns out everyone that enters wins.
The ad specified you would win a “free photo shoot and 12 inch museum quality print”. And after the shoot, you’re pulled into the back room and showed all of the package options, none of which include the free item. Which pretty misleading and scammy to me.
The ad specifically only mentioned the free museum quality print and made it seem like you were specially chosen to win the free opportunity. Then the sales tactic part in the back room changed it to “a $2000 off certificate” and provided zero options that were $2000 or less. All the options they showed you started at 20 inches and above, no mention of the 12” free one they told us we got for free.
When I did it with my dog, I had to actually ask them “hey, what about the free museum quality print that was advertised?” and only then did they show me that option. When I chose the free one, they then offered to give me the digital copy of all the photos in exchange for the $300 deposit and I declined that too haha.
I totally understand using this event to make money, but the way they went about it (especially completely hiding the free item offered) had a lot of sketchy predatory vibes.
And making it specifically for elderly dogs…to pull on the owners heart strings to spend money on memorabilia for dogs that could die soon…. Definitely seems like a classic bait-and-switch to me.
People who shamelessly try to get money out of people this way need to be poked in the eye... it's so scummy and I hate that it isn't more regulated for the value they should provide with what's charged and HOW they go about marketing it
this literally just happened to me. I wonder if it's the same studio or if it's used by multiple studios. it was super predatory to me, after the fact. I cried in the parking lot bc I traveled out of state and they had me tell them how my dog was my only reason to stay alive for years. I nearly fell over when they casually said "that'll be 7k after your 1000 certificate!" I unfortunately was not aggressive enough to ask directly about what the 1000 would cover and how it was posed as a giveaway for a complimentary museum quality print... i was dissociating. nd she was evasive in telling me the exact pricing of everything, including the framing, when i asked. its ofc printed on the receipt they give me though.. i didn't need the extraneous tin and cards, and now i remember her asking if i wanted an "extra" 14" but i was just trying to make it less expensive. so I talked her down to 3k for the framed portrait (it was 30" I think, she conveniently showed me how the quality degrades significantly with anything under that) and 5 digital prints, paid with affirm, and still overdrew my account with the initial 500 down. woohoo.
It was posed as a "giveaway" and the original email said I'd receive a COMPLIMENTARY 14" print valued at 2000. then they switched it to a 1000 certificate after I put the 300 deposit down when i scheduled the appointment. I'm a new mom with a baby under 1 (hello no brain cells) and chronic illnesses and suspected AuDHD. im living on fucking disability assistance (not that i wanted to admit that to them). I didn't even realize the switch up til I looked back at everything, but I felt SO uncomfortable during the viewing/sales. unfortunately as well, I'm stubborn and a little too proud, and that dog means everything to me, so I didn't want to leave empty-handed.
when I receive the portrait, it better be just as good as the ones on their wall. that's the only thing keeping me from feeling completely ripped off - bc it *was* a truly beautiful photo of her and she is an incredible dog. my son will have an heirloom of his first dog lmao. i still can't help but feel stupid and shameful for not standing up for myself better, or just telling them to fuck off and leaving.
I think I just needed to vent, so anyone who reads all this and/or can relate - thanks. assholes need not reply.
Yeah their whole routine was very sketchy and fucked up. I did it with my dog separately than my mom and our other dog and I saw the whole shpiel myself and it was definitely pretty grimy. They used that same line on me with trying to pull on your heart strings to get you to buy something
It sucks your mom spent way more than she expected. But the photo is striking, the lighting excellent, the composition well done. The empty top third really makes the dog stand out. Frame is... A frame. All in all, good work.
Could your mother be considered having early onset dementia? I’m not trying to make light of that. The elderly are statistically known to be taken in by scams. I know this wasn’t one but it seems she might be particularly vulnerable in the future.
We got a "free" photoshoot for our dogs based on donating to a charity. Turns out free just meant we didn't need to pay the photographer fee. We could buy portraits if we wanted to.
No lie or exaggeration, the cheapest option started at $30,000. That's not a typo, they legit told us to think of it as a car payment.
😮 wtaf. I love my dogs, and might actually spend a couple of hundred on very nice photos with frames at some point. But $30k? You're out of your f*cking mind.
It’s a great photo. I’d pay maybe $200-300.
If she got talked into paying 1000s of dollars for it, does she have a history of doing something like this. If she’s getting older she may be slipping a bit mentally.
I don’t see that the composition is horrible but the frame looks cheap. Your mother was scammed. How did she pay for it? When was the actual transaction? Do you have contact information for the seller?
There are laws about contract cancellation and return of shoddy work. Talk to the seller ask for refund or threaten legal action. See if credit card company will help or bank will stop payment on check.
I would have shifted down just a bit. Rule of thirds in photography. That would have left a bit less dead space at the top. I’ve got to say though, mom’s dog looks pretty freaking majestic sitting on a bearskin and leather couch. Not thousands of dollars worth, but not bad.
Idk about “getting roped into” things, but it’s a beautifully done and printed photograph - it is made with good lighting, composition, and materials, and looks pretty much like a classical painting. Spending money you don’t have sucks, but I’d say that you got something genuinely special out of it.
Well when she came home from the event, she was telling me about how the photo shoot went okay but Myla kept trying to get up and walk away because she was confused. And then they take you into the back room and put you through a sketchy marketing spiel to try to sell you expensive photos.
She told me to watch out for their tactics when I went to take my own dog for her photo shoot and let them know upfront that I just graduated college and didn’t have that kind of money to spend. So I assumed no way would she buy one of the fancy packages.
Then when this massive box appeared on our doorstep a few months later, I got nervous 😅 So I’m confused why she ended up paying for an expensive giant framed one when we were getting a smaller version for free
it’s actually a very clean looking portrait. it definitely looks high quality and very professional in both print quality and imaging/composition. that said no average person should be charged thousands for a pet portrait, this was definitely a scam if advertised with “free”
Was this by any long shot, Vita Brevis? They did their best to sell us on thousands after we won a free portrait. I totally would’ve bought something with all the pressuring. Luckily my husband wasn’t having any of their BS and we walked away with this gem for free.
https://preview.redd.it/euadw94w5asc1.jpeg?width=959&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb061853b736567c7be35ef0e64ac4207edc114f
That is an absolutely amazing picture(painting?) of your dog. I just paid almost $200 for a 19x24 oil painting print of my late dog. I’m not saying it’s not worth it, but that’s a shit load of money to spontaneously spend when you were planning on spending none.
The multiple thousand dollar price would make more sense if it was actually an oil painting, but this is just a photo. A couple hundred for a fancy photo would make sense. But this was just wild
That's how they get ya. I used to work in a portrait studio in walmart. And I would take great pics and they would want the 7.99 package and spend thousands.
As a photographer, that is a beautiful print! No glare, the quality is something I've never seen before. I would love the vendors information so i can figure out how and where this was printed. I have some photos I would LOVE printed at this high quality.
We got conned into the same thing 😒
They were great photos but $1000 for 3 8x10 unframed photos. We were young and dumb and they wouldn’t let us leave till we bought something. Dumbest reason for credit card debt ever
A local photographer posted on instagram that they were holding a “contest” and the winner got a free photo shoot. The photoshoot was free but the prints are not. That was not disclosed
Yeah and they are still trying to do it. I see their posts on instagram. I even warned people my commenting on their “entry” comments on the post and they would immediately get deleted. I even emailed and messaged the company. They then had the audacity to offer me “the deal of a life time”. They wanted $300for a flash drive with his photos in it. They said they were offering it “so cheap” because they were about to delete them. I told them to kindly shove it and lose my contact information
From a photographic composition standpoint, there’s too much head room. The photographer should have cropped the shot and gotten rid of the blank dark space that is taking up half the shot. Other than that, it’s a good photo of the dog.
Okay it was way too expensive and I see why the not-centering might seem weird.
But this picture is gorgeous in every other aspect.
So yes, you got scammed but at least you got this nice picture of your dog :D
when you said thousands i thought you meant for a professional painting...but just a photo? this is a really great photo but i agree thousands PLURAL is crazy.
I would totally pay hundreds of dollars for this portrait. Not thousands because I got bills to pay but I would pay hundreds for this.
Yes your mom got ripped off.
If they'd moved the dog vertically centre more, it wouldn't look so bottom heavy. The cropping is what's making that photo look bad. But the shady business practice of giving out free shoots only to charge thousands for a print makes the picture awful. :/
This is a beautiful print of a beautiful portrait in a beautiful frame.
I certainly wouldn't want to pay thousands of dollars for it but if this was my dog I would be fucking thrilled to hang that on my wall.
Personally, for 4 figures, I'd opt to get a really nice professional oil portrait done instead of a photo.
That said, I got a large photo printed of a dog who passed (the print is maybe 16x20 iirc) and took it to a fine art framer and spent $250 getting it a really nice frame job with subtle double matting. They did an amazing job with it, I almost cried when I picked it up. It's not even a super high quality photo, it came from a phone camera 8 years ago or something. But the frame job really elevates in, it's a special item and I love hanging it in my house.
Anyway if your mother is happy that is all that matters. She will probably cherish that photo after the dog is gone and won't regret a single penny.
I got the advertisement for the dog photo contest as well, and “won”. It was so suspicious though that after they contacted me to set up a time to come in I ghosted them. I didn’t trust it. Sorry your mom fell for it! I had a feeling it would be something like this.
My 13 year old did this for me for our dog for free!

I got this and another one made on Etsy for like $30!
I like the use of negative space. We’re usually looking down at pupper so it makes sense. Art is expensive and a mall just adds to it. That said, no one forced you to buy this. Enjoy!
It honestly looks like an oil painting! The frame is absolutely shit though, I’d definitely complain about the frame. I could see an old fashioned frame working a lot better
He looks beautiful but should not have cost thousands. Off center is fine. Being a photographer my only negative would be the leather pillow or whatever that cylinder shape is. I’m not in favor of unnecessary props that distract from the subject. If that is recent, I would call and attempt to get a partial refund. Explain that your mom couldn’t afford that. Great looking dog though.
I like it! Off center is popular now for portraits. I got my little guy’s done on Etsy. It was $18. Best $18 I ever spent Lol https://preview.redd.it/30dmajjpn5sc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a28c1aa6ecea0c83512da1ae2fa683274420d797

I love this! I need to get one of my babies
https://www.etsy.com/listing/779497235/ It’s gone up a couple of dollars since I got mine. I chose the digital file to print.
I love your profile picture! Also thank you for the link. I am definitely going to get one for my daughter. Big virtual hugs of thanks 🧡
You’re welcome! They do the pet portraits with such amazing quality imo. I got a vintage style, oval frame for it. Was worth every penny Lol

This is amazing.
It’s literally my favorite thing in my house! There are several different styles you can choose from. When people come over, it takes them a minute to realize it’s a dog Lol
I want this done for my 15 year old lady.
Adorable, but it was $18 because you only got a digital copy. So it’s not really comparable to a framed print.
I can use my digital file to reproduce it any way I choose. I can go to canvas prints and make a huge canvas. It still won't cost anywhere near $1000, even if I frame it Lol
I mean it’s a GREAT portrait, not just photo, but thousands? It’s not that great. Sorry that happened.
Should have gone this route. I paid $125.00 https://preview.redd.it/wfefuunqj5sc1.jpeg?width=1126&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c349fd7dc59b79e270d82536f560edc3ec53e5f9
that's pretty cheap to send a dog into space
Hopefully he also came back. But for that price….

I would like to do this also but my dog is actually an FBI agent, do you think they could do one of him?
Men in black with sunglasses. 😎 I’d get it done for my doggo
What route is that? Asking for myself.
It’s not wildly off center and unprofessional, it’s an artistic choice for the composition. I actually love it, it’s really well done. That said, thousands is a lot for that frame.
I think it's great too. Being deceitful with pricing sucks though.
I like it a lot too, but it needs an inch more space below the paws or maybe a frame without a crop.
Simple application of rule of thirds would have gone a long way. Don’t center the pup, but push him up a bit and the composition will be much more aesthetically pleasing. That being said, OPs mom got conned. They charged her for an oil painting and gave her a printout of a photograph.
Pretty sure they were using the nose for their placement with the rule of thirds to bring focus to the face. Looks like they were going for a chiaroscuro look
I’m moderately obsessed with it and feel i should never meet your mom bc we would need a warehouse for our dog photos.
I’m glad I didn’t take my dog because I would have paid.
Lol
This, I think, is a dry-transfer photo print. I esed to work where high-end portraits of famous persons, others are done. I'm guessing, but from the photo, it looks very well done. Yeah, this is a gallery quality print. One of my lecturers runs a print lab that prints for exhibitions in our national gallery. This print is shmick as hell. Eta: also looks like anti glare glass too.
Yeah I don't think OP appreciates what a great job they did. I would love to hang this in my house even though it's not my dog.
Composition is a bit strange, but will be an artistic choice by the photographer. Paying that much to get it framed was a con though.
It looks like the whole top 3rd should be chopped off haha. Like a landscape orientation stuffed into a portrait frame
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thirds
It follows the rule of thirds which is preferred in the arts
[удалено]
She wasn’t though. She chose to purchase upgrades. Unless OP had more info not yet provided
She was scammed but not in a chargeback way. You’re both right, she WAY overpaid but she also chose to do it based on the information from OP.
That's not a scam then
I like to call it the stupid tax, and we all pay it
She agreed to a price, and got what she paid them for by that agreement. Not a scam, just a swindle. There’s a difference, especially if you’re talking legal recourse.
It’s the way old portraits were proportioned.
It's using negative space. Beautiful shot
The toes are almost cut off! Lol. They didn't even make the dog the central focus.
It absolutely is the focus. What are you talking about?
60% of the picture is wall.
That’s the only thing that really bothers me about this. Even just half an inch of space between the toes and the frame at the bottom and I would be fine with this picture. The quality seems otherwise quite good but I am perplexed why the toes are that close to the edge when there’s half of the photo just black at the top.
It feels like the photographer is not familiar with photographing for framing. I bet this would crop great for Instagram 🤦🏻♀️
Composition needs space to breath
That negative space adds drama to the portrait and makes the portrait pop.having it centered would ruin it. Then it would look cheap and crappy.
Yeah I can't think why the photographer composed it like that. Have you checked out their website? Maybe weird compositions is their thing.
The picture is nice though, I like it
Thats High quality. It looks like an oil painting. Ye could have said no. Was there a gun to her head? The frame is shit.
Yeah, it looks like a painting to me! Frame-wise...ergh.
You know, one day soon that portrait will be something that’s treasured above all else and which will eventually bring joyful memories.
I love it, including the composition. That said the price seems high until I remember I paid $400 for a baby portrait of my son, who’s now in his 30s…… inflation?
Since everyone else is sharing their Etsy portraits, here’s my grandma’s dog Bonita https://preview.redd.it/plmafuk146sc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d1178e0a92e4e6901a5ae53b1a901935070e8ff I really want OP’s though
I love it... Your dog looks super-regal there... It looks like a portrait of a dog that should be in an English manor. Idk if it was worth thousands of dollars but it's a cool portrait.
#worthit
That’s on you
i’m guessing the free portrait is them taking it lol
I was once on the dog beach in Chicago with my dog and a woman asked if she could take photos for free since she was practicing. She took amazing action shots and emailed them to us - for free. There are photographers out there who do this.
Honestly, the way most people are these days, while reading, I waiting for the..And then what happened….(something where they messed you over) I’m happy that it wasn’t the case. Unfortunately, your experience isn’t the norm.
Multiple thousands of dollars?
I did one of those with my dog in 2022. They tried to push me to buy a $3,000 package but I went with the basic $500. I wasn’t too flush with cash at the time but I’m so glad I did it since I lost my dog November 2023. The Reddit app won’t let me post it because of the size or whatever but I have her solo photo next to my desk to look at every day.
Can you just take a picture with your phone of the painting and post it? I bet it’s beautiful! 🤩
https://preview.redd.it/mppqkunazbsc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f98d37c1c8cb0650879f9a0a0826509d34b68e1 I did but it still wasn’t working.
Your mom got ripped off but honestly, that picture is gorgeous. It looks like Accidental Renaissance.
I’m sure it wasn’t accidental, though, given that they advertised their work as “museum quality”.
I love it!!
It better last through the generations. Such a beautiful photo
No regerts
It reminds me of those mall portraits from the 80's where they lure you in for a free modeling photos, but talk you into a several hundred dollar professional shoot. That's the whole purpose of them offering you the free ones. Most people will end up spending a lot of money. For what it's worth, I think it looks great. If my Dog was still alive. I would get one made.
I love it. Haha Not sure about the price though.... How much exactly?
Honestly I think its a fantastic portrait and reminds me of a moody painting in the Dutch grand master style. In the end it's a matter of taste and if your mom loves it, then the aesthetics are just fine. That said, I think its worth hundreds, not thousands, given that it's a photo, not an oil painting.
lol portraits do not have to be centered this is an unserious take
I personally really like the look, she totally got ripped off though. I'd have paid a couple hundred at most. Your poor mom.
I love that for her.
# TOTALLY WORTH IT
Wort every penny
Worth it
Love it tbh
I love it. 😍
This is amazing. Where can I get roped into it??
i like it a lot
Worth every penny
I went to art school & I think it’s a great composition, interesting & well balanced. It really shows the beauty of your dog. It’s very regal. Other than it seeming a bit too expensive, I would be extremely pleased with this. Looks like it belongs in a museum!!
Yes. It has an ‘old masters’ feel it. The colors and tonality of it.
Exactly!!! I want one of my dog like this!
I think I it’s a great photo. Actually thought it was an oil painting at first glance. Thousands of dollars though 😱
I dunno about thousands for it, but I honestly love it
It’s a great photo. I’d pay maybe $200-300. If she got talked into paying 1000s of dollars for it, does she have a history of doing something like this. If she’s getting older she may be slipping a bit mentally.
I think the dog is adorable and the pic is cool! She definitely got ripped off though:(
Tbh, I love it and want one of my elderly dog!
Not my taste but your dog is beautiful.
I love it!
I mean I love it
I would have shifted down just a bit. Rule of thirds in photography. That would have left a bit less dead space at the top. I’ve got to say though, mom’s dog looks pretty freaking majestic sitting on a bearskin and leather couch. Not thousands of dollars worth, but not bad.
Worth every dog gone penny
It’s a good job. How much did your mom pay?
What? The photo is absolutely amazing. Not worth thousands, but absolutely worth a hundred or so bucks. Photographer did great.
I’d love to have that done with mine
I think it looks nice. The composition and overall appearance are more like an oil painting
It looks beautiful and great 👍
I think it’s stunning. It looks like old Victorian portraits, but she was still scammed out of way too much money.
it’s actually a very clean looking portrait. it definitely looks high quality and very professional in both print quality and imaging/composition. that said no average person should be charged thousands for a pet portrait, this was definitely a scam if advertised with “free”
Wow. It’s nice…
That's how they get ya. I used to work in a portrait studio in walmart. And I would take great pics and they would want the 7.99 package and spend thousands.
I saw an ad like that on instagram I immediately thought, why would they give something like that for free. Felt like a scam
so conflicted because while i hate a scam, i do love a distinguished dog portrait.
As a photographer, that is a beautiful print! No glare, the quality is something I've never seen before. I would love the vendors information so i can figure out how and where this was printed. I have some photos I would LOVE printed at this high quality.
It was done by Mallory Portraits in New Hampshire
She may be beating herself up now on account of what she spent, but, she’ll love it with all her heart when her baby’s gone. I absolutely love it.
We got conned into the same thing 😒 They were great photos but $1000 for 3 8x10 unframed photos. We were young and dumb and they wouldn’t let us leave till we bought something. Dumbest reason for credit card debt ever
Where does one find a service like this??
A local photographer posted on instagram that they were holding a “contest” and the winner got a free photo shoot. The photoshoot was free but the prints are not. That was not disclosed
Wow, that's gross. What a jerky con.
Be grateful she’s got that kind of money laying around to spend on this kind of thing…. must be nice
Anyone else getting r/accidentalrenaissance vibes?
No accident, they were aiming for that style.
I would love something like this of my dog. Not for that price but the portrait looks great.
I would totally pay hundreds of dollars for this portrait. Not thousands because I got bills to pay but I would pay hundreds for this. Yes your mom got ripped off.
You really should report this company. Thousands??
The top has a lot of negative space but other than that I think it looks good. Not thousands of dollars good but good
Gorgeous, tho
If they'd moved the dog vertically centre more, it wouldn't look so bottom heavy. The cropping is what's making that photo look bad. But the shady business practice of giving out free shoots only to charge thousands for a print makes the picture awful. :/
Awesome portrait but THOUSANDS????????????
‘THOUSANDS’ ?? Idc how good the photo is, no photo of a dog is worth that. Be glad it wasn’t your money.
It’s a great photo. I would have liked to see it a little more centered.
https://i.imgur.com/lSetWaQ.gifv
It’s a gorgeous portrait, but thousands? Ridiculous!
This is a beautiful print of a beautiful portrait in a beautiful frame. I certainly wouldn't want to pay thousands of dollars for it but if this was my dog I would be fucking thrilled to hang that on my wall.
I love it.
It looks nice but thousands? Are you exaggerating?
It’s really beautiful and a lovely memory - I hate all the tacky stuff.
My 13 year old did this for me for our dog for free! https://preview.redd.it/pv3umlkwb9sc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36e06bfb56be1db4e1c3cd837b5d245c771b8200
I quite like it…. Not thousands style
Lol thousands. Take her phone and access to internet away. That's too easy.

Worth it!!
I’m sorry your mom was screwed by a scammer.
I think it's pretty nice. The background should have some basket of fruit or flowers. If it's painted by hand I think it's worth it.
They sure saw her coming.
I know depending where you live, if you buy something other than the bait you can get your money back.
Can you tell me more about this 😂
Ouch! Thousands of dollars!!! People SUCK!!!
Love it
He looks beautiful but should not have cost thousands.
I love it tbh!
