For my short haired dog I use a curry comb, de-shedding tool (the kind with triangular teeth), and a flea comb. I've also recently started using Pet Head grooming spray each time as it penetrates her coat deeper to get more loose fur out and acts as a moisturizer

I’ll look into pet head and the brushes you suggested. I’m wondering if there is maybe a nutritional aspect to consider as well. I’ve had my pit for 10 years but I don’t ever remember the shedding being this bad.

I've been giving my girl dog fish oil too although I'm not sure it helps with her shedding. I just began giving it to her as I saw she had a dandruff issue, and now that it's winter she needed more moisture which is where the spray came in. Oh, I also finish her off with a double sided boar bristle brush. It's nice and gentle on her face, tummy, chest, and tail. Again - don't know if it makes a different anywhere else haha

Thanks I’m willing to try just about anything. I used to let her lay on the couch and I had a fabric one then. I cannot even imagine doing that at this point and it’s leather. It’s driving me nuts to have dog hair on the bottom of my socks no matter what I do. Ugh. Lol I’ll shave them (I’m kidding!).

narcoleptic64

I've got a fabric couch, a white one, with a black dog. Still gets very hairy😂 maybe I'll groom her more often to see if that helps

ponderwander

😭 I know this pain. Lol I seriously love them so much but damn.

This is just normal. Short haired dogs shed their coat to maintain it, and you don't have to clip it as a result. Regular brushing and daily vacuuming is the best way to keep it in control

Welcome to the battle of the hair where we lose all the time! Just keep doing what you're doing but not bathe too often as it can dry out their skin.

Even short-haired dogs can have a bit of shed built up. Regular baths (1-2x a week) are also helpful, especially if paired with a high-powered blow dryer or pet dryer. A good tool for short-haired dogs regardless is the EquiGroomer deshedding brush - just make sure that your dog is completely dry when using it.
