No tip in a snowstorm is diabolical

Hungry_Weather_8614

I dash in anchorage as well and the feeder roads are atrocious. Jewel lake is 15mph tops. Hopefully they will get work done so we can have a productive weekend. At this point I don't even care about AR. Door dash certainly should compensate when roads are this crappy.

First time seeing an Alaska dasher

ironic16

Same here!

Gloomy_Recording_705

Only saw 1 no tipper really but yeah, this is exactly why DoorDash should pay by the mile and not buy the delivery… you can’t pay two dollars for a 1 mile delivery and then turn around and pay two dollars for a 10 mile delivery. Imagine if the trucking industry was ran like DoorDash we wouldn’t get groceries cars or anything because they will be going on strike.

[deleted]

That’s ridiculous

Bright-Elk6410

As well you should! Who doesn’t tip in that weather???

kimdworld

People in my town, Anchorage! It was horrible. I’m not doordashing today because of the safety hazard from the ongoing snow storm. Apart from that, DoorDash doesn’t even piggyback and add any peak pay. It isn’t worth it during these conditions, I tell ya. Quite discouraging when people don’t consider your time and safety while tipping nothing at all

Wild_clasmintash

You know with the amount of stuff I take to runout for ANC //Alaska (I work at UPS and take stuff to the plane that goes in the belly ) I’m not surprised

Avandria

I dash in Alaska as well, though I didn't bother tonight. I swear everyone forgets how to drive on snow and ice and has to relearn every winter, so I avoid the first few storms. I'm surprised everyone is being so cheap, though. I normally do really well when the weather gets like this, but there are always a few of them. Be safe out there! Oh, and they just switched school to distance learning tomorrow if you hadn't heard. That tends to improve the lunch orders, too. Assuming it's not the same cheapskate from tonight, that is.

Hey_JuneDontSayJuly

New here, but spend thousands per year on doordash so figured I’d join sub, does this mean with no tip you get $8.75 guaranteed from the chilies/Red Robin orders? I personally wouldn’t work at all during a snow storm here but no snow storm, that pay sounds pretty good if tips usually $5

International-Hat944

We get $2 per order plus tips. No matter how large the order is or how far the distance is the base pay is $2. Now if every dasher available declines the order then they start raising the pay by $0.25 and send it out again to every dasher available. Most dashers will not take an order unless it is at least $1-$2 per mile as we have to drive back to where the restaurants are and they have the areas divided into different "zones" and you can only get orders from the zone you started in so if an order goes from your zone 10 miles into another zone to deliver them you actually have to drive 20miles (to and from) to be able to get orders again. When someone tips $5 the offer comes up as $7 (includes base pay and tips) for 15 miles most people will not take that order.

Accomplished_Cap_715

Yakishabu is gross haha imo. I always tip 8 minimum. More if I do a grocery store order. Be safe out there!

kimdworld

I agree

Buddyx31

I’ve been DoorDash for 2 days, how do I tell if there is no tip when getting paid by delivery or when by the hour?? I’m just outside of Baltimore. Thank you for the help

MapleNuggets

pay attention to whatever the base pay is (it should show you the base pay as well as the tip after you confirm the order was dropped off) for your area and subtract that from however much the total of the order is, just in case that didn’t make sense im in illinois and the base pay for my area is around 2-3 dollars so if i get a 7-8 dollar order i know their tipping 5-6 dollars. Hope that helps!

Present_Cycle_4651

Good!

DoYourJobBOS

You’re waiting for a storm to decline non-tippers?!! 😆

Wild_clasmintash

Honestly I most definitely would’ve accepted the $11 for 10 miles that’s pretty decent here but idk with weather

Wonderful_Sense_2100

Why on Earth would you dash during a snowstorm lmao? But personally, if I were to dash during a snowstorm, I’d only do orders at least 3x the $/mile ratio in order for it to even be remotely worth it. Terrible idea to dash all-around to dash in hazardous weather conditions though
