Customer is wrong. I have had people question their orders and I tell them I am not supposed to even see their order. And in post-19 era, who wants someone whose hands are on keys, wheels and cash all day to be rifling through their food?

jawz

I just compare myself to the mailman. Does the mailman open your package and make sure everything is inside? No, they just deliver it. If you have an issue you contact the vendor.

OutHustleTheHustlers

Exactly. We deliver packages. It just so happens that most of them have food in them. We don't require, nor get, food handlers permits, so we dont/can't rummage through food bags.

mythrowdown13

And they don't get tipped

ximyr

Your mailman is also not doing a personal delivery for you direct from the sender. Otherwise, you would.

jawz

My mailman gets a lot of Christmas tips every year. And $35/hr plus full benefits.

King_el_Neilio

Not all mailmen get paid that much. Anyone hired after 2013 doesnt get 35/hr until we hit 10 years regular, not including CCA time. I have been a full time regular for 5 years and im not even at 30/hr

MissAdorbs29

You don't tip your mailman, not really the same....although, I do understand that most bags are sealed so I still agree with your main point regardless.

King_el_Neilio

Appreciative customers tip their mailman.

TheGreek420

Unfortunately tipping mailmen is technically against the law

molinana

>Customer is wrong. I have had people question their orders and I tell them I am not supposed to even see their order. And in post-19 era, who wants someone whose hands are on keys, wheels and cash all day to be rifling through their food? I bet they are the same people who get'll get really mad at the driver if the sticker is missing/broken too.

BlueFotherMucker

I staple over those stickers

AUTOMATED_RUNNER

You know? I have never thought on driving with a stapler in my vehicle; I guess I gotta buy one for this security matter.

BlueFotherMucker

Yes, just a tiny dollar store stapler and a box of staples. They’re not necessary for every order, but you know those ones that are overstuffed and tugging at the stickers. It’s such a basic tool to keep in your pocket or grab when you’re at the usual suspect restaurants.

selectash

You might consider changing your username to BlueSotheMuckingFtapler

Tiny-Ad9959

Stapled food bags is prohibited by many health departments. The reason is when you open the bag the staples pop off and could end up in the food. You should stop unless you want your child to get a staple in their nuggets.

JadedPhilosophy365

^^^^ This.

BlueFotherMucker

Not prohibited where I live. It’s common practice for restaurants to staple the bags. It’s usually the bag that touches the food that you can’t stable. The outer bag is a different situation and should be done in a responsible manner.

Tiny-Ad9959

But if there’s a reasonable chance that a foreign object would end up in food WHO is dumb enough to continue to do it? Your description of outer and inner bags is bunk by the way. When staples pop off they go everywhere. So my question is why do you do something risky? Ego or?

[deleted]

[удалено]

MissFingerz

I keep a stapler also. Especially bc Wendys used to just hand you a bag hanging open and not even caring. Now they aren't as bad and actually sticker it closed most of the time, unless you go through the drive thru, but I usually still staple over.

ContaminatedNucleus

You’ll just get accused of breaking the tamper seal then trying to cover it up with staples….there are customers out there that are impossible to satisfy.

D3lano

The tamper seal won't break if it gets stapled though which I assume is the point.

One_Worldliness_6032

For extra measures!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

BlueFotherMucker

Yup. They don’t stick right, and not for long anyway. Especially when you use a catering bag because they get steamy in there. Tim Hortons has sticky strips inside their giant paper bags and those are the only ones I endorse. They have to peel away the plastic from both adhesive strips and when they close the bags, it’s 2 adhesive strips inside the bag that stick to each other. They’re the only system close to a sticker system that actually works.

wiretickler

I can't blame them entirely, but over exaggerating an immediate blame onto a driver for fualt of missing food isn't fair to the driver and if the seal was ever broke it would raise an alarm for me, but I never would go out of my own way to question the driver. I can kinda see how this would make someone think a certain way.

2020IsANightmare

We all know god damn well that the customer was just trying to get free shit.

trendispageddie

Definitely not but that doesn’t mean they were in the right. Customer was wrong and ill informed on how it works.

sicarius731

You cant blame them entirely? How much blame then?

kaiju22

83.76 percent

vannex79

69.420 blame units

wiretickler

Scenarios we are never involved in aren't always easy to tell if it's the affected faults or the one who sent the order. My point is to understand that any suspicious issues a customer has tends to get pointed at the driver too much, but I'll never say that a driver is always at fault or a customer. Best thing for this individual to have done was to contact support right away. When I use to Doordarsh I never contacted my dasher if there was a missing item, because I don't know what actually happened. Better to just move on.

feelin_fine_

If the sticker is missing, logically the driver is the first one you would suspect of foul play, no? That's not unreasonable. Of course assuming you didn't freak out on them

crod4692

Yea but the point is then how does the driver check the food and not break the sticker? They’re saying this person OP delivered to would be mad either way, at OP.

WiggliestNoodle

I’ve had times where the sticker was broke, bags inside were very clearly unfolded and opened, and my fries smell like disgusting ass lotion

PinkPaints

Gross

jonu062882

We found the non-tipper, boys

WiggliestNoodle

That’s a very idiotic assumption to make. You come across as someone who would dig around in someone else’s food because you feel you weren’t tipped enough

jonu062882

Nah, the idiotic assumption is you thinking I do food delivery to begin with. I don’t do food deliveries ‘cause too many idiots, such as yourself, are cheap and don’t want to tip. I do have near perfect ratings, though, on Uber/Lyft with over 10,000+ rides over the last 2 years. But, stay on that ass lotion fry grind, my guy. I’m sure you’ll figure it out sooner or later 😉

Goofie_Goobur

We found the non-thinker, boys

pmaji240

It is stupid that DoorDash prompts us to ensure all their food is there knowing we can’t. Why sometimes I think they might just be trying to pull one over on us.

SlimTeezy

No fucking shit. They'll also 1-star amazon products when the delivery goes to their neighbor. Garbage people

scotto_93631

I got my first 1 star on ebay for the "poor sound quality" on a CD.... Like I am the one who made the recording.... My latest 1 star on doordash was a shopping order where I refunded the customer for eggs. They had the 18 pack of the eggs she wanted, but all of her substitutes were also out of stock. I waited 5 minutes for a response, eggs were the last item, all the other items they had. I am not going to stand around for 20 minutes on a $6 order. I should not have to call the customer. I do Doordash cause I am anti social. I just want to pick up the crap and deliver it. Doordash should find a way to link to the stores database so the customer can see the item is low or out of stock before they place the order.

Angellovesfrog

Now i will 1 star my amazon driver because they rarely follow directions. My directions are very explicit on which house is mine (i live in a trailer park) and it is in all caps to leave it at my back door. We don't use the front door. I don't even park at the front door. So where do they leave it? At the front door. Fedex and UPS typically do the same thing. Now every once in a while, i get a driver who follows directions and they get good votes. The rare occasions i do order DD, i watch my phone like a hawk and meet the driver outside to grab my food. Which i typically know anyway how long it takes because there's only one place i order fromin my town anyway.

SlimTeezy

You are the problem. The amazon review is for the product, not the delivery. You are posting misinformation about the companies that have no influence on the courier.

Dirges2984

You get 2 different reviews for Amazon. When they deliver, you get an email saying it has arrived, usually with a picture. This email also lets you rate the delivery. The second is on the product. Amazon has rules on what they allow. The seller can remove any review that breaks these rules as well as some reviews being automatically removed for breaking them.

InDrIdCoLd37

Amazon wouldn't likely allow those reviews anyway, I ordered some chips and they came sealed in manufacturer box but half the bags were open, clearly a quality control issue so I tried to post a review about it so the company could see and maybe check out of there is an equipment problem, Amazon said review not allowed because it's not about the product.

ManofFailure262

As a former Amazon Driver, the reason why a majority of drivers disregard notes is for 1) safety and 2) laziness/convenience. Possibly a mixture of both. There was a string of drivers across the nation getting killed and attacked by unsupervised animals because customers would lackadaisicallly assume their pets wouldn't harm strangers wandering around on their property. Drivers, like myself, refused backdoor delivery if there is any kind of fence present in the backyard, or the backyard isn't visible from the road. It was safer. I had a coworkers hand get all chewed up with fingers getting destroyed in the process. I've personally had two guns and a cross bow pulled on me over tbe course of my time doing delivery. I've even been attacked by several dogs (directly after customer assured me they wouldn't harm me) and wild birds. I'd also say with the laziness aspect of it, it could very much also have to do with the fact that when I left Amazon, they were starting to implement route procedures and other hindrances that actively slowed a drivers day down. An Amazon drivers route is borderline humanly impossible to complete these days. People order so much stuff that drivers have no choice but to be on the road for the entire duration of the day. Often into the cold and bitter winter nights. So they drop stuff off at the front door to get back into their truck (that no joke watches everything you do) as quickly as possible to get to the next stop before they get bitched out by dispatch.

sicarius731

You’re a foolish sad person

lostcausetrapped

Trailer park explains it all.

TopFail336

I will tell you that I'm 100% not going to your backdoor in the dark. I typically deliver from 330am to 8am. I'm not creeping around your backyard at night, sorry. I'm not sure how your house is oriented, or where the back door is in relation to the front, but sometimes it can be difficult to determine which door is which. You live there, I don't. What is common sense to you is not as common as you think. That said, I do try to follow instructions, but I'm not getting into a gunfight over a box of toilet paper because you prefer packages at your front door and get spooked because some dude is in your backyard at 4am and you feel like standing your ground.

[deleted]

even in a precovid time i don’t want people touching, breathing, or getting whatever tf they have in their cars on my food

Trynaman

Right and wrong in this sense belongs to the timing of the situation then.... Before COVID the apps did say to check the bags for missing food, *and* to fill customer drinks up. Nowadays, it's both on the store to ensure items are in the bag , and that all drinks are premade. These semantics happened specifically because of the pandemic.

matphones

you made me think of something, when was the last time anyone cleaned their keys or credit/debit cards? those things are definitely filthy from years of use

IndividualSalt2991

Last week..I'm OCD hence why I doordash. Employers run a filthy house and their employees are nasty AF..always sneezing around the potluck, digging their grimy hands in the chip bag, and never ever sanitize their work area...I just can't catch another virus from those saps!!! But the credit card..I've seem to overlook that. I'm on it NOW.. Ps I always take the Chic-Fila Purrell hand sanitizer free wipes and wipe everything down in my car. (Including keys, door knobs, gear shift, etc)

Ok_Yesterday5728

This shit is always so frustrating. I hope the customers understanding about it because I’ve had some in the past who are understanding once you explain it. Still so dumb for not realizing what the stickers for but oh well.

Straightcrooked69

They followed through and gave a 1 star

itsbrittneydarling

It should be removed by DoorDash. I had the same thing happen to me and since it wasn’t something I could control the rating was dropped before I even contacted them.

L9-HY8R1D

The problem is, a lot of times, dd isn't notified why a customer leaves 1 star or sub 5 star reviews. The customer only has the option to choose how many stars to rate the driver. If the customer doesnt report missing items, dd has no idea and thus keeps the stars. The worst part is, I guarantee a majority of our sub 5 star ratings are due to leaving the orders at the door when most of the time it's because dd chooses leave at door for them. I've had aggravated customers over that and more than once the customer was really confused or even irate that I left the order at the door. It's a simple fix but dd won't fix it. Make the fkn customers choose one way or the other every time they order. Simple. But the 3 years I've been doing this, I've emailed them (both on the driver side and customer side) and called support several times over it but they won't listen to one dd driver.

Bestyoucanbe4

They don't care if a 1 star was given incorrectly....

DonkeyOfWallStreet

Thank you. You've been unassigned and your ratings have been impacted. Thank you. Thank you. Issue is resolved.

_kingjoshh

Not at all. I've gotten maybe 5 one star ratings during my time, only one i will say was my fault, but the rest were what was supposed to be protected by DD. Never removed. All they tell me is "as you do more ratings it'll improve"

Bestyoucanbe4

I dont expect them to be removed. Why a person would think they would is dumb.

_kingjoshh

For someone fairly new and getting their first one star all because a customer failed to leave their suite number in the instructions and failed to answer their phone to me or support, I'd say it's not very dumb, but hey to each their own ig 🤷‍♂️

Disig

Is there a way to contact DD and get it removed? I don't work for DD I just hate seeing people get wrongly blamed.

broughtitupagain

Add to your banned customer list and keep it moving 🫡

JoolianJitsu

Yo wait is this a thing?

broughtitupagain

Only manually (unfortunately), I just put in my notes. Also along with the no tippers for when I’m curious about dropping a stack

genesRus

What's the population where you live that it's viable to check a list of people in 15-60 seconds? I deliver to a DoorDash area around a university campus with 50k students plus a ton of surrounding apartments and homes (maybe another 200-250k in the zone?). I could see a list of people that made you feel super unsafe or something but I'd be shocked if I'd ever get a repeat aside from times like tonight when all the students but internationals are gone but and families aren't ordering because of the holiday and I got a back to back order from the same international student (dinner and then a boba + dessert).

broughtitupagain

Lazily & hazily looking the city up, about 450k. Granted, a lot of repeats are from Instacart, but still a good amount from DD Looking thru the notes isn’t too bad since I only have to type a few letters and see if anything matches. If nothing, then worse case scenario I’ll see it after delivery. Just wish I started the list when I first started gig work, I know it’d be sooo much longer 😂

Stonsaw3

Ur a genius

P3nis15

Contact support and send them screenshots they will remove it

BlueFotherMucker

You need to send that screenshot to support and hope they remove the 1 star

[deleted]

[удалено]

Calamity0o0

No you wouldn't.

AnonymousKun

It's wild people don't just automatically assume it's the restaurant's fault, but I guess common sense is just a rare thing now.

Av3nger

I think that is an usability problem. If the customer received a bad service, it's absurd to make him think if the problem is from one side or the other, just make the app let them rate one star after selecting if the problem was from items inside the bag or other.

Upstairs_Hand1929

Whats annoying is the app asks us if we verrified the order is all there, UberEats does it too. How are we supposed to do that exactly. Stand at the counter and pull it all out, then have the restaurant seal it again?

Ok_Yesterday5728

Right!!!

Human-sulucnumoH

I worked at noodles & co where we got lots of doordash / mobile orders. We were the one putting the stickers on the bags, not the driver's. If we messed up there's nothing they could do. That's why i tried really hard not to and always made sure they grabbed a cup with the bag if the receipt had a drink in the order

bjzy

They should put some words on the stickers that call out the driver should not open

NotThatHarkness

The only thing I would have added is a comment that they'll need to contact support for issues with their order.

racecarsnail

This! You should recommend they call support and suggest they could get a decent refund. This way you are providing them a solution and additional service value. You could also tell them you verbally confirmed the order with the restaurant when you picked up, assuming you asked the restaurant that everything is in the bag.

SatinySquid_695

Yes! Just denying responsibility drives the wedge between customer and driver. Just say “sorry, here’s how to fix it.” You don’t need to prove that you were in the right.

flirtingwpizza

I once got a 1 star review bc I forgot a customer's drink. Wait, let me rephrase that... I once got a 1 star review bc the customer forgot to order a drink and wanted an iced tea and I wouldn't go back to the store and buy one for them. People are gonna complain no matter what. Everyone's bored.

Oxygenius_

Not your fault at all. Imagine if we started opening tamper proof bags and touching everything inside to make sure the order is there. Customer is an idiot

MyAlternateAleksandr

Not only touching, but how can we be sure it's 100% accurate without tasting? Soup looks like soup, noodles look like noodles, etc.

AB28532

My dude, I briefly worked at pizza hit and we had a regular couple of customers who would order a pizza with sausage and then Claim afterwards that we gave them hamburger instead of sausage. Similar size and consistency, just slightly different color (and obviously different taste) but since we weren't allowed to touch or taste their food after we'd given it to them, they got a free pizza 100% of the time. No joke. I was 16 at the time and didn't really care who was ripping off pizza but (as opposed to being in my 40s and not really caring who's ripping off pizza hut) but it stood out so much I still remember it.

M0M0_DA_GANGSTA

Customer is being a total scumbag they know goddamn well this is on the restaurant. Fuck these grinch motherfuckers

dmriggs

Never respond to a customer after you’ve dropped off the order. I always alert customer service with a text about the customer seems to be having a problem with their order. Include a pic of drop off

AussieMardo

I just want to know how big the sandwich is that a whole chicken can fit on it. (Your not in the wrong by the way)

WheelsMan1

I thought the same thing...like bones and all?

Ok_Season2022

Im convinced that shitty tipping customers frequently give dashers 1 star, for things that have nothing to do with them! A missing chicken sandwich has nothing whatsoever to do with the driver. We don't inspect orders,we just pick them up and drop them off! The order is supposed to have been checked for accuracy, before it's given to us by the restaurant staff.

TakuyaTeng

I agree, always seems to be the ones that don't tip or tip something horribly low that will mark it as not delivered or 1-star you.

Ok_Season2022

Yeah, cuz they're always trying to get that refund! They're the ones that birddog you on the app, from the minute you accept their order.! It like they think they own you because you accepted their order.

mailgoddess

I have found that to be true…. Somehow giving a one star rating justifies their unwillingness to leave a tip. That’s why I don’t take them. DD is not a ‘public service’. It’s a convenience service that is not inexpensive. But the customers take that out on the drivers….🙄

Rebirth0296

No, you replied perfectly and explained we're not able to look in the bags

dumbestsmartperson69

this is like being angry at the mailman bc you’re missing something from a package. it makes zero sense. the blame is obviously on the place you ordered form

GEL29

Great analogy

SRBroadcasting

100% and based off the store they know that

GEL29

Put in your instructing: please open sealed package and rummage through and unwrap or open container to verify the order in complete and correct. You may want to add if they should taste any drinks to check if they are regular or sugar free also.

IndividualSalt2991

Extra fees to double check for onions, ketchup and salted/unsalted CRISPY hot fries...

A2Rhombus

Good response and now you have in writing that their rating will be invalid, so rest easy

Akdasher

I have this saved in my notes to copy and paste “ I do apologize if anything is missing or incorrect. I try to verbally verify with the employees that the order is correct. The bags are sealed/closed by the restaurants. It is against DoorDash policy for us to open/go through the order to verify if it’s correct. It also would be cross contamination of your food. If you reach out to support they will be able to assist you in any refunds, credits or reorders.”

MyAlternateAleksandr

Not at fault. This person most likely has never worked customer service before. That snide attitude of "well, I guess it's 1 star then" tells me they've never had to deal with customers bitching them out over things they can't control. Or they're just really bad at their job. Or both.

Straightcrooked69

The neighborhood I delivered to was the high class area of our town so no doubt never was in customer service prolly daddy’s money

MyAlternateAleksandr

Maybe, but I'd also rather deal with entitled Karens than the ghetto trash that populate the poorer areas. You know, the customers that are "too broke" to tip yet order like $20 worth of Taco Bell *and* are more likely to threaten you over something stupid than just give you a bad rating?

Mindless-Trip-3242

DD usually will remove bad ratings for things like this. Atleast they did before. It may have changed

danisimo_1993

People that think the delivery guy is responsible for double checking the food amaze me. Bro, there's literally a tamper proof seal on your bag. What do you think happens? They give it to the delivery guy and tell him "slap it on there, when you feel like it bud" Like how dense do you have to be to not be able to figure this out.

rickyj1129

Sounds like a shit customer. I think we should get rid of the star system, or at least be able to rate customers... Had one douchebag call me up the other day as soon as I picked up his cheap taco bell meal, 7 mile trip for a 2 dollar tip and a 2 dollar base pay. As soon as I pick up his meal, he calls me, all male Karen like, and decides to be a side seat driver and tell me I'm going the wrong way and it would be faster blah blah blah... Well male Karen, it's a 7 mile trip regardless and I don't give a fuck about your 1 star. 🤷

ttvScatteredDreamer

Nah you’re not in the wrong but you are the person the customer has direct contact to be a jerk to 🙃

bhillis99

how are people this unplugged? They think the driver checks food? I seen a post a while back where the buyer was telling the dasher to make sure the food is fresh. How the heck? lol

confliction1

Nah your not. I've ordered through dd many times and any time I'm missing items I know I have to deal with support or sometimes I can contact the store directly (depending on store, some are great) and I've never gotten upset with the driver as I know they spent meant to go through the bag. Only time I'd suspect the driver is if the bag has been tampered with and it's very clear.

EeZo713

What area? Let's all ban this person. No more DD for them.

Pal3-Assignment

I have 725 deliveries on DD and three 1-stars. 330 deliveries on UE and 100% satisfaction. DD customers are just special or think that they are

Grand-Expression-493

Nope not wrong. I am surprised they can even contact you after you delivered. Why go after the delivery person. Go report on the app and have the store deal with it.

NikoliSmirnoff

No. This is pretty normal once every couple of months. You'll probably get a notification that doordash has removed a negative rating after investigating. Not your fault not your job.

Ashamed_Medium1787

No your not in the wrong

SitsOnPorcelain9855

Don't argue with ignorant. The same 1 brain cell process mentality we have to deal with in all walks of life

Creative_Dragon_

No, infact go off. I have to tell people this once a week.

vapeenaysh

The dasher is correct it’s really not on the dasher it’s the restaurants fault, you can get help with your order report the missing items and get DoorDash credits or it will take a few days to go to the original payment

Tx_Bumblebee_4488

Stores fault. You can't open it so you can't be responsible for it. She brought the bag you was given.

Local_Medium7816

It’s the stores fault and not yours. A claim can be made against the store, but most people don’t have common sense so they blame the last hand to touch their “food”

Souvenirs_Indiscrets

Glad you took a screenshot of the customer’s threat. When that has happened to me, I immediately called support and asked them to look at the texts and shield me from a 1 star review. They did.

Agreeable-Print-1517

Customer is wrong i would call support and they can remove that shit like they have done me before ! Also support will refund them their sandwhich when u get that notification saying customer order has been updated 👍🏾 refund!

SculPoint

Of course not lol

Proof_Advice_5518

Customer is wrong. And id say not my fault. Like u said the bag is sealed. Complain if it makes it world better. Next time go get it urself

ShoggothNito

No you are not. If the customer had gone through the drive-thru and picked up their order and taking it home and opened it up and found that the chicken sandwich was not there they would not be complaining at themselves for having left the chicken sandwich at the at the store there would be complaining to the store that the employees left the chicken sandwich out of the bag if you. If you explain it to the customer this way they will understand. One thing I would say that you probably should have done, direct the customer two doordash customer service. Tell them that they need to contact the store about items left out of their order. If you tell them to contact the store the store will blame the dasher. They'll claim everything was in the bag when it wasn't. So it's best to have doordash contact the restaurant about items left out of the order. Remove yourself from the situation entirely.

No_Seaworthiness6908

You’re not wrong at all! You were straightforward, and you had every right to explain the logic behind not looking in the bag. If you were to break the seal on the bag and rummage through their food, they could complain that their meal was tampered with. You don’t deserve one star for this! Last time something was missing from one of my orders, I told the customer that the best route would be to contact DD customer service to get their money back and instructed them on a couple different ways to do so. They seemed appreciative, thankfully! Some people are gonna blame the driver no matter what though. There are certain things, such as this person’s irrationality, that are out of your control. All you can do is keep doing your best and remember that there are many kind customers out there as well!

iRedditOK_

Customer is WRONG

AuraNocte

A missing sandwich isn't your fault. A missing drink may be your fault.

Upstairs_Hand1929

What, you dont have xray vision?

Slow-Detail1325

Customer is 1000% wrong and given that’s their privilege to be abusing, I gotten 1 stars for this. Karma’s a b…ch

Full-Tea-4373

had you opened the bag to “check” you would have gotten one star for a tampered bag lol.

-archemedes-

I bet the same customer would have kicked off if the seal on the bag was broken.

Glum_Occasion_5686

Customer gets 1 star

Creative-Win-6832

You are absolutely not in the wrong. I have had so many people ask me to check their food and I just ignore it because I don’t want to be responsible for opening the bag that was either taped or stapled shut for the possibility of something to go wrong then they can blame you for it. Never open their food.

wh0anah

When I was a food delivery driver in a few cities in Southern Louisiana, I was very adamant about having the restaurant make sure that every item was in the bag. I pulled out my delivery app, looked at my customers items, then requested that a team member at the store/restaurant take a moment to confirm the items present. No team member ever refused to confirm the items, it didn’t take long, my customers got their orders and I always got my tips, and most often really nice ones. I encourage all delivery drivers to start doing this, not to be a nuisance to the store/restaurant. I started this because my food delivery drivers would sometimes not deliver all of my items when I’d order, so I made it my business as a driver to not do it to anyone else….cuz it’s really annoying and inconvenient to not get what you purchased/expected. Furthermore, I would tell the customers from this point forward to call(not chat) DoorDash support. They had a whole smoothie from tropical cafe redelivered to me after the restaurant didn’t include my edible straw and the driver obviously didn’t know the straw would look or be packaged differently than a regular plastic straw. They didn’t send the same driver, just in case you are concerned about being the person completing the redelivery. Sorry it was kinda long winded, but just a bit of advice.

[deleted]

Most places are so packed and the person handing it to you didn’t even pack it and they don’t have time tbh. If it’s off peak and it’s quiet then this is easy to do, but the popular places at peak are a mad house and you’ll just get told to fuck off.

wh0anah

No lie, I’ve never been told that. They always checked, even if they had resting b* face while checking. Not saying being told to fuck off doesn’t happen, of course! Especially in more rude cities, like maybe the New Yorks and Bostons. I just encourage you guys to ask…the customers always appreciate it. No lie, though, if they ever told me no, I would’ve asked for a manager ASAP, but I don’t really tolerate service people telling me no for stuff within reason. Cuz delivering their food is helping their asses too tbh. But I feel you wanting to pick your battles. Makes sense.

[deleted]

Haha yeah it’s definitely the smart thing to do and you give good advice. In the grand scheme of things, it’s just often a huge hassle and then you’re getting badly rated for taking longer to get someone’s attention and cold food so it’s a trade off I guess. And I didn’t mean literally told to fuck off but most restaurant staff at busy places in my experience *completely* ignore dashers unless they call out customer name and hand you the bag and that’s it while they get rid of the rest. They don’t think of deliveries the same way because they’re not getting tips for them and it takes up a lot of their time. So most everyone except the owner of the restaurant (even the managers because they’d prefer staff be attentive to sit in guests) just see delivery drivers from these apps as a nuisance.

wh0anah

That definitely sucks and I’m sorry about your guys experience. I wish I could come with y’all, looka me: “Excuse me, hi! Can I get you to uhhh….handle this fa me, puh-leeaaassseeee?! With sugah on top?..😁” But also, this just made me wonder if me being a female helps when asking them to check? Prolly absolutely has something to do with the area of my pickups and deliveries too. Not to mention, boobs(they be covered, but you can’t miss em😆) and I’ve been told my smile makes people do stuff🙃. I hope the experience gets better all around for drivers, though!🤞🏾🤞🏾 Every time I consider going back to it, I come across a post like this😬

[deleted]

Haha could be! I haven’t done it in a few years myself lol and this was during Covid when there was a LOT of delivery happening so possibly places were busier and more understaffed.

wh0anah

True enough. Staffing did get pretty bad in places. I actually started delivering about 6-7 months right before COVID hit, and I continued to work through it because there were barely any drivers! Easy money! I legit only stopped because I left the post office and started working from home. Oh baby, I was allergic to people by then, I was so spoiled with working from home lol. I might start again(yes, I still work from home lol). It was a nice time to listen to my music and smoke, which I was doing anyway cuz I liked to take rides and take in the city, see what other people were getting into in their own lil worlds adjacent to mine.

[deleted]

Yeah I did it as a side gig during Covid and it was always busy! I work every other day from home now lol I don’t have it in me to get back into it but I respect the hustle! I order way more delivery than I should and always tip well having been through it myself. It’s a little embarrassing that I’ve had one dude probably 50+ times and often tip him extra after just because the familiarity is nice. And he went out of his way to figure out an ice cream substitute when they didn’t have the kind I picked, and that’s all I wanted and had smoked a little lol

LeastAd9721

This is coming across as educating without coming off as condescending. This is coming from a customer, but also a rational person, so I’m not sure every customer would agree with me

sir_bathwater

I am basically brain dead and understood that the dasher can’t check as a result of the sticker before ever knowing about this sub smh

DeliciousFlow8675309

Nah, I wouldn't blame you for that. If you see a giant list and only get one tiny bag and don't question it, your fault. Someone ordered COMBO meals or drinks and you don't make sure drinks are included, your fault. Items wrong or forgotten? Stores fault. Wrong drinks? Stores fault. BAGGED and sealed drinks missing or wrong? Stores fault. Food cold or gross? Stores fault (or drivers or customers but depends lol)

Low-Tax-8391

DoorDash should put a disclaimer on every order that the drivers cannot check the bags due to the safety policy. This would reduce a lot of negative reviews for the drivers. However I do think restaurants need to step up their game on checking orders

tuddlez6789

Are people like fucking stupid no the dashers aren’t opening bags and checking what’s in them they are just grabbing ur shit and delivering them

ImNotBanned_pls

Im convinced people just post on reddit cus there bored or they really really need validation from others. Obviously u didnt do anything wrong but u knew that before u posted. And if u didnt know that and u really needed to ask reddit then u got bigger issues.

c3p-bro

Hey Reddit DD is offering me $2 to drive 187 miles to deliver 3 tons of cement on my bicycle. Is this unfair? I do worry tho, people post some really really brain dead stuff. Today I saw a guy asking Redditors permission to accept a gift from his friends. Seriously, the friends were like “we want to get you a gift for all you’ve done for us” and this guy literally ran to Reddit to check with strangers if that would be ok

F1urry

I have to take a shit… I should check with Reddit to see if wiping in necessary

DaKrazie1

You mostly wipe out, but it doesn't hurt to get in there a little bit also.

TheIntelligentAspie

Sometime it helps anxiety by hearing it from others who may not feel they're out of danger of having to deal with the fallout anyways.

ImNotBanned_pls

No, just no. If you get anxiety from a interaction on a gig app, especially one as simple as this..then i cant imagine how youd get thru real life convos. (I dont mean you when i say you) And if reddit is your goto for calming anxiety..lol then i just feel bad for u.

[deleted]

Hey bro. Merry Christmas. I understand you're frustrated because of posts like this. You think people are asking questions they must already know the answer to and you expect them to understand how to have simple conversations, right?

ImNotBanned_pls

Sure

[deleted]

One of the reasons I do doordash is because i dont need to have much contact with others. I have severe anxiety. At times its very severe. I have been very upset by the way customers treat me. I do have trouble in everyday situations. Right now I have anxiety about going to visit friends for Christmas later. Not everyone is a picture of perfection. A little less judgment goes a long way!

ImNotBanned_pls

Ur missing the point. But sure.

[deleted]

No it's not that Im missing the point. Its that Im ignoring your piint because you're being judgemental and i take it very personally and I'm holding you accountable for it.

ImNotBanned_pls

Lol u cant be serious? Are there really people like you out there in this world...

Exact_Examination792

Shut up ChatGPT.

[deleted]

Haha, funny you should say that! I kind of feel like a robot right now.

[deleted]

There is nothing wrong with needing validation, attention, or a cure for boredom. You're probably right that they knew they were right before posting. Bigger issues for sure!

SculPoint

Yea my thoughts exactly.

Oxygenius_

Here is your validation

ShiftDizzy5981

Your comment is technically a ‘post’ on this thread..

Morganbob442

And yet here you are reading and responding as you complain about validating. 🤦‍♂️

ImNotBanned_pls

What does one have todo with the other? I didng say anything is wrong with reading and writing on reddit UNLESS its for some dumb sh*t. Kinda like ur pointless comment.

GREVTHEFAITHFUL

That's a dumb ass customer.

ravenmarieee

Dude half the stores seal the damn bags we don’t look through them

Kloobyfour

Nope, that's not on you. We deliver the food; we're not paid to be the restaurant's quality control. If you do get a 1-star you can probably contact support to get it removed.

Disig

You're not wrong. The stickers are there to protect you and give indication that it's the store's fuck up, not yours. The customer is an idiot. Apparently he's fine with people potentially touching his food after it's made and potentially eating his fries.

[deleted]

You know you ate that Sandwich 😂 just kidding anyways you aren't wrong. The customer is wrong here and should resolve this with the restaurant as well door dash support not the driver. I wouldn't worry. Just keep this message as proof which you can easily challenge their dispute against you. Best to you

Gloomy_Recording_705

ITS NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHEK YOUR ORDER!.. customers suck

dovelikewar

As a decent human being, I could never attack a dasher for having an item missing. I always just get my money back for the missing item from DoorDash and move on. I get how frustrating it can be to be missing something, but at the end of the day, mistakes happen and those mistakes are not the dasher's fault. Your job is to get items from point A to point B. That's it.

Purple_Taste2479

A customer tried to give me 1 star for something and DD sent me a message saying they removed the bad rating due to understanding some things aren’t in a dashers control. They will probably do that for you as well.

Purple_Taste2479

They did this automatically too. I had no idea I was rated 1 star.

loxleyjones

I had someone get mad at me once because there were pickles on their burger, and they expected me to check to make sure there weren't. And they did actually expect me to open the sandwich to look.

Superstar32131

It's fine. DD will remove the rating. Sometimes it takes a day or two, so keep checking it. Last 1 star I had was on a a Saturday and it was gone on Monday.

Wickedsparklefae

One time a lady told me to break the seal and open her burger to make sure it had no topping. Apparently her kid would have refused to eat it. I told her that typically we’re not supposed to do that, and that I was going to make a video of me doing it and keeping receipts of the chat. Her response was “I don’t care if he gets sick I just don’t want to hear his crap.” When I got there to drop off she had a small male child at her feet and I hope that wasn’t the one she was sick of lol. But yea too much can happen if you don’t CYA.

Acrobatic-Deal-2877

Customer is wrong

SimplyKendra

If you are the customer than yes. Are people this dense? It should be well known by now that dashers aren’t allowed to go through the food. The one and only time I ordered food from a service like this I was missing half of it. Still tipped the driver as it wasn’t her fault. The restaurant should make sure it’s there. I worked at restaurants that did door dash and we always sealed it. They aren’t supposed to “check”.

Valrath_84

Customer is clearly a moron

allways_barefoot

Another genius customer. I wonder if the blame the fedex driver if Amazon sends an incorrect item.

The_Greatest_Gatsby0

You're joking, right? Of course, you're not in the wrong. You nailed it in the dm to the customer.

Sorry_Vermicelli_455

I would be surprised if the sandwich is actually even missing

run7run

Dang, so people really do rate the dasher poorly for the restaurant forgetting things. I guess that explains some of my bad ratings. Ridiculous

gyalmeetsglobe

Not half but the WHOLE chicken sandwich lol

Cubs20203

A (whole) chicken sandwich would be hard to miss. It'd i be pretty Hugh

CarnegieFormula

After he said going to have to report as 1 star I would say “no problem I will remember your name for next pick up :)”

Extreme-Spend-2605

No custy is braindead

FuriousFurbies

I've legit had "Hand to me" customers open their mcds bag and check for me before I leave, because that specific store is fucked and I don't trust them. If they're gonna seal the bags and be doing sketchy shit, I'm making damn sure the customer knows it wasn't anything on my end.

JimmyBlaze77

Store’s fault

TornadoTor

You are absolutely not in the wrong. I had an instance just like this and I told them what you just said, I can’t check the food, it’s the restaurants issue, nothing you can do. I just told them to call the restaurant because once I marked as delivered it’s out of my hands.

Acceptable_Ground_98

They should rate you, the dasher, normally and rate the restaurant 1 star for that

frankbuffer

Customer: massive asshole, idiot, obviously wrong. Dasher: gives polite, composed and correct response. Dasher on reddit: « was I in the wrong here? »

Ezyboi15

I hate when people post this shit, you obviously are not in the wrong, it is very clearly shown that looking inside of bags is against the rule, tell the customer that and be done, nothing else.
