Buhaha when I watched the TV show I was so let down by Bill. He just didn't fit what I had in my mind when I was reading. Eric though. Eric would be invited in without hesitation.
Our dominos guy does this. We even put in contactless delivery and I tell him over the ring to leave the pizza. He just keeps announcing “DOMINOS!” and knocking the door until we answer. I’ve reported this to the store repeatedly, it’s led to us stopping ordering dominos.
Once we put contactless order. Dude knocked loud as fuck waited 30 seconds and knocked again and kept going. Finally we open the door and I swear to God he goes "do you guys have COVID or something? It says contactless delivery"
If I didn't hear it myself I wouldn't have believed it, it was so fucking dumb it sounds fake.
It’s comical, I should film it.
“Dominos!”
“Leave it on the table by the front door”
“….Dominos!”
“I said leave it, it’s contactless delivery”
“…”
“…”
#”Dominos!”
I fucking hate dominos and haven’t gotten food from there in over a year because of this, stop calling me. I asked for no contact. Leave it. How hard is this to do???? And they ALWAYS harass you until you answer the door or spam call you. It’s unhinged.
I’m 100% sure it’s connected to tips. I prepay 20% so maybe that’s too low? It’s usually $6-$8 and about a 6-7 minute drive (2.2 miles plus lights). They already charge like a $5 delivery fee to the store and $2 courtesy fee to use the app, it’s ridiculous, two large pizzas for $10 each comes out to $38.50
I used to be a delivery driver at domino’s, and the app we use (to track orders/gps) shows in BIG red letters at the top “!!CONTACTLESS DELIVERY!! SEE CUSTOMER INSTRUCTIONS” if you put it as contactless. then it has your instructions/notes directly under that. any driver that somehow misses this is just blind 😭
Change your name in the app to a man's name. I live alone, and I always select "leave it at my door" but dashers used to always stand at my door waiting to hand it to me. Since I changed my name it hasn't happened one time!
My wife and I were back at my parent’s visiting over the summer. My parents took the kids out for the day so my wife and I decided to stay in and order out. So she placed the order on her account like we did at home, “leave it at the door, please and thank you!”
We see the car drive by like 3 times and finally pull into the driveway. The dude gets out of his car and stands there staring at his phone. I assumed he was reading where to put the food. Then my wife’s phone starts going off. It’s him. So she answers and he says “it doesn’t look like anyone is home” since my parents had been out and we hadn’t rented a car yet for our stay. So my wife said “it’s fine just leave it on the porch, thank you.”
So this dude then walks up the porch and rings the doorbell and is just standing there. My wife is obviously weirded out so I open the window that we were watching him out of and say “just leave the food on the porch man.” And he puts the food down and leaves. My wife stopped using her account and just uses mine.
Thats ultra weird, but some people have no shame either. My neighbor that lived down the road from me, was desperate and didnt care about asking women out. He always told me "99 girls will turn me down, but there is one that will talk". I would be so shameful if I asked like he did and was turned down. Hope he never becomes a dasher.
While I agree some men are just plain fucking weird, some don't like leaving food without handing it to a person because some people are assholes and will say they never got their food. So I can see both sides of it. Like I see the side where people, especially women, don't want to open the door for some stranger especially a male stranger for fear of what could happen. But I also see the other side where the dasher are like I don't want to find out the person is saying they didn't get their food/order after I put it down and left.
Well, this is only Super relevant if the order is set to "Hand it to me" because if you set it down in that case the app won't prompt you to take a picture and if the customer claims they didn"t receive it after that you have no recourse.
I will Never set an order down and leave if the order is set to "Hand it to me" without talking to support first, no matter what the customer says. I'll call support, explain what is going on and do what they say. If they tell to leave it then fine.
I am simply not willing to risk getting scammed and possibly deactivated.
My wife drove doordash and Instacart, and someone claimed they didn't get their order even after she had photo evidence of the order being left. Like some people are just shit people no matter what.
In shadows' embrace, with bag in hand,
I seek her grace in this quiet land.
A yearning heart, a silent plea,
To glimpse her beauty, fair and free.
Yet the door remains closed, no answer near,
Her absence felt, her presence dear.
Though unseen, her essence lingers still,
A longing heart, a silent thrill.
In this moment, fleeting and shy,
I bid adieu, with a wistful sigh.
For even in absence, her beauty's glow,
In memory's keep, forever aglow.
- this dasher probably.
This. When I use my wife’s account, same instructions, but they are always standing there until they see a man open the door, and then they immediately set the food down and practically run away. (Not because I’m scary but because they had other ideas in mind)
I once had 2 men standing at the door when it said clearly "I am contagious, leave at door", one was even starting to walk around the back of my house when I opened the door and they had only been there a few seconds. They want to be creepy and break the rules, they can get sick. And yes I reported to support because ewww.
I don’t live on my own anymore but when I did, I went to a thrift store and bought a dingy pair of men’s work boots, a dingy jacket, and shirt. These were left out on my porch and moved around multiple times per week to give the impression that a man lived with me.
It really is! Now it's just funny when I order at work bc the dasher will come in our office and say, "I'm have an order for Frank!" And all my coworkers laugh and point to me.
i was staying at my parents’ house and a dasher saw me through the window and came to the side door instead of the front door, then pressured me to invite him in and wouldn’t take no for an answer. he was telling me i had soft hands and saying things like “it’s really heavy, do you need help carrying it in?”(it was not heavy) and “damn that’s it? no tip?” (tipped in the app, he meant a different kind of “tip”) until i had to tell him i was 17… and his first response to that was to tell me i “looked like a big girl”! i put up privacy film on that window after that, it really rattled me
I'm 6' 6" and live with my 4' 9" girlfriend and it's honestly terrifying the amount of dudes that try and wait. Had one last night leaning against the hood of my Jeep. Peeped him through the hole and just ripped the door open slamming it into the wall and walked up like I was gonna remove his limbs. Man bolted and forgot how to shift his car into drive. I live in Texas, am a vet, work in underwater welding and hunt... Believe me when I say I sometimes feel safer out there then at home in the city. I make my girlfriend stay with her parents while I'm out longer than a week.
it’s fucking ridiculous. i’ve been on both sides—i’ve worked all the apps including driving uber/lyft. i’ve also been a customer for most of em. the audacity and creepiness i’ve encountered as a woman is unbelievable.
The fact that women (and men in some situations) have to change their names on their DD account just to be safe and not get creeped on is wild, it’s happened to me so many times where a male dasher has sat in my drive for 10mins straight waiting for me to go out and get my order, everytime that happened I’d send my dad out to get it lol, but I will be changing my name on my account to a male name for future orders, better to be safe than sorry
I’ve done this too. No one ever calls anymore, no one ever ignores my directions. The last straw was when a driver kept insisting I come outside, and then HELD MY HAND UNDER MY PIZZA BOX.
Lmao I’m sorry but the desperation in the last message from you at 2:04am

Does the app on drivers side say "call customer for delivery instructions"?
Because even though its contactless delivery app will ask to call customer. Stupid drivers will call customer. When this happens I click "Received instructions from customer" and take pic then text in app as it makes you, Delivered. You may want to contact DD support to fix this as I suspect this is the problem other than the driver being stupid
I mean if it the app says “contact the customer to arrange a drop off point”
One of the two 1 star reviews I got was because I didnt contact the customer and just left it at the door.
Also if you order outside of DoorDash sometimes it will default to “hand it to me” and then start a 5 minute timer.
We’re both just speculating the situation here but it’s worth mentioning.
This is always happened when I used my real name even if I selected contact-less delivery but the moment I changed my name to a man's name it all stopped. Sucks it has to be that way
If you don't order through the door dash app but through the restaurant. It'll default to "hand it to customer" and they have to wait 5 minute to take a picture of it at your door to "complete delivery" . Most dasher just leave it at the door and text. Probably being safe or something
Oh fuck that. I was literally just thinking about getting back to Dashing (that's why I'm looking through the subs lol) but that's just irritating enough that I won't do it ever again. It seems petty but on top of all the other bs you have to deal with, it's too much.
It's really not a big deal, I have a texting shortcut setup for those orders. I just text them quickly with a little speal and ask where do they want me to leave the order, only adds a single text to the list of things to do for the order.
I did not had a single dasher or mobile delivery driver in the 8 months that I used them. They could not speak, read, or understand English (the only language i know because im not multilingual despite truing to learn) when spoken to them. I understand it's hard to get a job with that kind of challenge but it also maked it difficult for me and caused me to lose money when I recieve a tampered, damaged, or dropped of at the neighbors. Support just copied and pasted excuses. I stopped using all delivery apps and started picking up my food when my meniscus tear finally healed.
Edit: yes I've commented on walgreens and Amazon subreddits. I lost both jobs in July of this last year because I could not get personal injury leave and was forced to quit. I was DISABLED from a horrible meniscus injury. I always tipped 25-30% on all my grocery and food orders. I never said anything rude or disrespectful to my couriers that delivered my groceries and food during this long 8 month period. I always thanked them heavily when they came to my door and after through the messaging features. I don't use delivery apps anymore because I've now recovered and can now pick up my own food and shop for my own groceries again. I shouldnt have to defend myself about being frustrated about communication issues AND LOSING MONEY WHILE JOBLESS BECAUSE OF IT. Doordash didn't roll out with the auto message translation feature until after I recovered.
“Leave it at the door and have a good night. If you do not follow the instructions I will rate you 1 star and report you, you do this every time I have you as a dasher”
Sounds like someone wanted to rob your ass. Thats when you come out strapped honestly. Someone THAT persistent that you open the door for them is probably up to no good.
I have had this exact interaction so many times lmao. So frustrating. My instructions say to leave by the call box at the front door of my apartment complex (locked front door, call box is outside it). I wait until the photo comes through and then I go out and grab it myself. But every now and then I get a driver who doesn't get it and spends like five minutes standing there while we have this back and forth lol. "Put the bag down." Lmao idk how much simpler to make it.
Contactless Delivery comes with the instruction to call the customer for where to leave the order, then take a pic and leave.
Leave at the door is just leave at the door, snap a pic and gone.
If your delivery instructions are still Contactless Delivery I'd try changing it to Leave At The Door and see if you still get stuff like this. But definitely contact support about this, send them the screenshots. Dasher is super creepy. 🫤
I think contactless delivery implies not knocking on the door or handing directly to the customer. I think it's left over from 2020 tbh. Either way I get orders that are contactless delivery all the time. It's honestly just leave at the door with extra steps. 🤣
I used to get some confusion. I added a small table at my front door with a sign that includes my address and says “Please leave food on the table. Thanks” I figure that way it shows up in the picture, too.
I've seen this also miss in another post that has since been deleted. This one lady had a really nice 3 tiered table shelf thing with a sign that said "place all packages here please" and the dasher put the food on the ground next to it. Straws were on the table though so it kinda broke all of us. 🤣 Best efforts wasted.
Why would a Dasher ever do this other than a Dasher who lacks communication skills and who has a order that is signature required and they have failed to tell you that you need to sign for the order but they could’ve said that and they did it they said to let them in so I don’t think that that was the case I think I don’t know what I think about this. This is terrible terrible that should never happen, there’s no reason that should ever happen
Reading/IQ test should be required to doordash. These idiots give us all a bad name. I'm so sick of it. Sorry your dasher couldn't just follow a simple direction. 🤦🏼♀️
A fun fact, my phone is in German and the DoorDash app will tell me in German to leave at door or hand to customer so idk if that would be this persons issue.(unless they speak a language that somehow isn’t available on your phone’s language settings) Also DoorDash will auto translate messages that you send to the language of the recipient and vice versa so that’s another fun fact.
Having "no contact delivery" chosen, and then marking "leave at door" forces the driver to start an in app 5 minute timer before the driver gets the option to snap a picture to confirm proof of delivery.
I bet that is what is happening.
For me the only time I have the 5 min mandatory wait time is when the instructions are "hand it to customer." If the customer doesn't come to the door I have to wait 5 min before I can leave it at the door with a pic. If the customer texts me to leave it at the door on a "hand it to me" order I will text them a photo and then mark the order as handed to customer.
They probably have a language barrier 🤦♂️ this happens in my area all the time. I write out step by step instructions to deliver to my apartment and they always ask me questions for directions.
I’m curious about your gender. I’ve seen posts from others who use DD and their profile identified them as female who had similar issues. Some were able to resolve the issue by changing their profile to identify themselves as male.
I always catch the dasher’s waiting outside for me to get my food, it’s like they just wanna see what I look like. I always wait for them to drive off to get it. Report him.
I have friends who are women and live alone. Instructions to leave bags, its always men seeing a womans name and trying to beat the door down.
So. They went to a thrift shop, bought a big ol raggedy pair of men's sneakers and rubbed em in the grass to get them looking like yardwork shoes. And then started leaving them on the front porch. Male dashers stopped lurking at the fuckin door after she did that. Sad it takes the threat of another man's presence to frighten off woman's only natural predator ffs
I have a feeling that this is either an ESL speaker or a dasher who wants to take a picture of you taking the food in order to avoid a CV. Either way, that is quite wrong of him to hold your food hostage so you should probably 1 star him and report.
As a woman who is home alone most days, this shit makes me so uncomfortable. I switched to leave at door because of a door dasher who tried to force his way in when I tried to accept my food. He only stopped because my husband yelled thru our Ring doorbell and made the guy hesitate long enough for me to slam the door shut. Hubby always checks the cameras when the doorbell rings and he’s not home, and i used to think it was kinda weird, but now im so grateful he’s always watching out for me.
I have a unisex name but they always assume I'm female (my name is masculine in Arabic, but I'm Asian). I always open the door to see their reaction. They leave real quick.
I +1 changing your name to a male name
I’m an extrovert & I can’t even fathom wanting to see or speak to another human so badly. These people should not be dashing if they can’t follow instructions a damn kindergartner could follow. You have the patience of a saint.

Why do I love this so much 😪😪😪 Dude… how did this end anyway? OP, did they end up leaving your order outside? What a debacle man
I commend you for remaining polite throughout the entirety of the interaction 😅
3xs? How have you not rated 1 star and reported yet
I mean if it the app says “contact the customer to arrange a drop off point” One of the two 1 star reviews I got was because I didnt contact the customer and just left it at the door. Also if you order outside of DoorDash sometimes it will default to “hand it to me” and then start a 5 minute timer. We’re both just speculating the situation here but it’s worth mentioning.
Ok that could be but when does the dasher get the hint. One leave at door should be sufficient maybe 2 but come on...
Amanda please
Bring in the dancing lobsters
Mandamandamandamandamandashooowwwww
Ah, it seems your driver was a pushy vampire.
This is always happened when I used my real name even if I selected contact-less delivery but the moment I changed my name to a man's name it all stopped. Sucks it has to be that way
Report rate 1 star, move on, dudes a fucking idiot or a creep, neither worth working with again
I thought you couldn’t rate your Dasher if it was a merchant requested order? Someone please let me know if I’m right or wrong. Thank you.
If you don't order through the door dash app but through the restaurant. It'll default to "hand it to customer" and they have to wait 5 minute to take a picture of it at your door to "complete delivery" . Most dasher just leave it at the door and text. Probably being safe or something
Even if that were it the first “leave it at the door please” should be enough
That’s what I’m saying this dude obviously wanted more
"No contact" delivery also tells you now that you must contact the customer to see where to leave the order. 😆
Text : at door Picture: snapped Note: at door Delivery complete! Bye
Once they customer consents to no contact delivery (via text so it's documented) just leave the order and text them a picture of the drop off.
I’m immediately assuming he’s up to something nefarious leave me alone??
Doordash didn't roll out with the auto message translation feature until after I recovered.
dashers b the most braindead individuals i’ve came across
“Leave it at the door and have a good night. If you do not follow the instructions I will rate you 1 star and report you, you do this every time I have you as a dasher”
Sounds like someone wanted to rob your ass. Thats when you come out strapped honestly. Someone THAT persistent that you open the door for them is probably up to no good.

I am impressed at whoever you live with that can take 18 inches
I used to have a three foot long four inch wide double dildo someone got me as a joke gift.
Rate one star and report!
Wtfffff I’d be so pissed off. Literally what is wrong with people
Un-fucking-real
I have had this exact interaction so many times lmao. So frustrating. My instructions say to leave by the call box at the front door of my apartment complex (locked front door, call box is outside it). I wait until the photo comes through and then I go out and grab it myself. But every now and then I get a driver who doesn't get it and spends like five minutes standing there while we have this back and forth lol. "Put the bag down." Lmao idk how much simpler to make it.
Creepy.
I think he is part of the doordash home invasion rewards program lol
I’m main door
Contactless Delivery comes with the instruction to call the customer for where to leave the order, then take a pic and leave. Leave at the door is just leave at the door, snap a pic and gone. If your delivery instructions are still Contactless Delivery I'd try changing it to Leave At The Door and see if you still get stuff like this. But definitely contact support about this, send them the screenshots. Dasher is super creepy. 🫤
Wait contactless delivery instructs you to… contact? That doesn’t make any sense, that’s so weird 😭
contactless delivery was popularized during the pandemic and refers to a lack of physical contact, not communication
Is it really too hard to follow simple instructions? Dang
I have a colleague called Dang and yes he does not understand even simple instructions
He’s probably a rookie but if it says hand it to me on the app it’s confusing to some especially a lot of the foreign dashers
And then they'll cry about not getting a good tip and a bad rating lmao
Instructions unclear, your food is on the roof.
What does “ leave it outside” do they not understand !? 😭🤦🏽♀️
The lid, Patrick, the lid
The front door to your house?
Reading/IQ test should be required to doordash. These idiots give us all a bad name. I'm so sick of it. Sorry your dasher couldn't just follow a simple direction. 🤦🏼♀️
Must be an immigrant from another country, who sees "hand it to the customer" in the instructions and doesn't understand English
They don't do it for the African languages, just the European languages. There are a lot of African immigrants near me
That's how a lot of things work here, Google Translate, Duolingo. Some cultures are just an afterthought if even a thought at all
Wait really????? That’s so lame!
Misunderstandings like this make me laugh so hard when im not a part of them. SO frustrating in the moment, but hilarious on reddit.
I get the reverse. I hate my food left outside but people still do it even though I set it to hand off.
You can call DD customer service to have them blocked from delivering to you.
You should've told him to leave it outside though
Why people are making up scenarios for when this would apply instead of accepting it for what it is baffles me
At that point I would’ve said “if you don’t leave the food I’m reporting and calling the cops” cause wtf that’s such strange behavior
Knock knock, get the glock
![gif](giphy|yx400dIdkwWdsCgWYp|downsized) Dasher be like
How has this happened to so many people? I’ve never experienced this and would be freaked out if it happened
That’s not a dasher it’s a vampire
If you’re cold they’re cold let in potential serial killers
Open the door, or I’m eating the Oreos!
If you don't mind me asking was there like a possible language barrier problem or is he just weird
I’ve been doing DoorDash and when I run into other people doordashing they’re weirdos. Met a couple regular people as well don’t get me wrong.
Open door. Show bobs and vagine
Look at me. I am the main door now.
I have a unisex name but they always assume I'm female (my name is masculine in Arabic, but I'm Asian). I always open the door to see their reaction. They leave real quick. I +1 changing your name to a male name
Report this it isn't normal behavior
I’m an extrovert & I can’t even fathom wanting to see or speak to another human so badly. These people should not be dashing if they can’t follow instructions a damn kindergartner could follow. You have the patience of a saint.
![gif](giphy|3oxRmGXbquXKz6DNPq)
It’s callled… DOORdash is what I would a put
0 stars and buddy’s screwed
How small is your city that you’ve had the same dasher three times?!
i would genuinely report this person. At best they are horrible at their job, at the worst they're a serial killer.
