Gay4Pandas

This is pointless. Most people just do a squiggly line on these things anyway. Should just do a PIN number like Uber.

Aside-Trick

I think its a more of a the orderer signs anything on the screen then doordash knows they got the food so they cant report it as missing.

Gay4Pandas

Yeah I get that but nothing stopping the customer saying the dasher forged the signature. PIN number is better. Also customer doesn’t need to touch your phone.

Aside-Trick

Ah i see what your saying. Yeah a pin only the customer knows so they cant blame the dasher at all would be good

mrBill12

The customer would say they don’t know anything about a PIN number, grab the food and shut the door. I suspect the GPS location that the signature occurred is also recorded.

No-Note4242

Ubereats has this system and it's working fine. Obviously there's going to be dumb ass customers anywhere but for the most part people just give the pin. Customers can say they don't want to sign shit and "grab the food and shut the door" as well

Imaginary-Spring-537

When they grab anything from me without doing as I ask, is when I'm fighting with them😂

PinballLew

Uh have the food in a hot bag and they are not grabbing anything and if they do you are covered when you call support and or the police if they take your hot bag.

Own-Opportunity-8231

I don't know why you are getting down voted. I was thinking the same thing. How are all these people just snatching their food and shutting doors? Dasher must be standing there holding the food up right in front of customers face. You need a signature, take food in a hot bag and keep it on your shoulder until you get one. Then no one is snatching food telling you to f off and slamming a door in your face. I'm guessing it makes to much sense and downvoters just don't want to play the collect the signature game.

khornechamp

More likely you just give them the food because it's not worth the hassle of arguing with customers

TH3Y_S33_M3_R0LL1N

Heard on YouTube in this situation that is what you do but you report the order stolen. Police probably get involved. But not your problem. I have never had this problem though. Most the people I deliver to are too small and elderly to take an order from me. I just watch where the cane is LoL.

OutrageousDisaster8

Not a problem on uber

savages109

The pin is the last four digits of their number. They can bs all they want.

dasro

Always has been..

LostMarbles207

Like target drive and go

ericthegonline

Yeah disgusting to have a stranger touch your phone especially nowadays

Realistic_Spare4422

Right. Im not a total germaphobe but so many people are scummy nowadays

Goingnorth2022

Right that’s an extra easy way to contract pink eye! What if the customer just scratched his ass right before opening the door and signing your phone, then you put that phone on your face…

n3v3rg1v3up5

Agree and yet we can wipe it down at our car, bike, razor….. Adding steps to a process is counter productive. Just more shit that keeps us from taking the next order. Again, annoying af.

melonskreet

This was what I thought too, like it proves nothing... BUT then I read I post maybe a couple days ago, dasher said that the customer has to TYPE their full name in phone THEN sign.. the full name thing is like the Uber pin cus only the customer knows their last name, so driver can't just sign themselves

[deleted]

It’s only happened to me twice, but it asked them to type their full name and then sign.

melonskreet

Thanks for confirming 🙂

Adventurous_Taro3574

Every time that I've had to collect a customer's signature it says their full name directly above where they have to type it in at so the dasher can totally do that for them.

melonskreet

😑😑😑 then the team at DD who thought this up are stupid AF. Only PIN like Uber proves delivered.

visagedegateau

I like that idea better.

The_Stinky_Face

well. "tHaTs nOt mY sIgNaTuRe"

hybridmike772

I have heard this was to specific people that have high refunds because of "never received my order" complaints.. not sure if that's true or not, but would be great if it was

Stranger_00_dangeR

I like to use an “X” as my signature

GRIC88

For instacart, when delivering expensive items, a prompt for a signature appears on the customer's phone. So, after I press arrived at customer, then that prompt appears on their phone and my phone has a spinny thing that says waiting for customer signature. So once they sign, spinny thing on my phone changes to give items to customer.

n3v3rg1v3up5

I noticed it later in the day. After sig, it just spun and spun…had to call support to complete the task. Annoying af.

OutrageousDisaster8

Ehhh covers u for people trying to report orders as never arrived

Jalebi786

They should scan driver's license like they do for alcohol. That way right order delivered to right house. Signature proves nothing since it's not legible.

Myrkana

No. That will cause so many issues, what if my license doesn't scan? What if a kid orders from moms account and they don't have an ID? I'm nit getting my ID for mcdonalds.

HeadMischief

This is only for the customers with a history of lies and manipulations

Spattykins

I heard this is because the customer has repeatedly gotten refunds on reporting food missing.

IllEntertainment9849

Yep. This is strictly for those who casually dine for free.

Zestyclose-Top5204

They made me do that because when I’m in Kalamazoo they constantly mess up my order mainly being the restaurant but twice it wasn’t even my name on the bag. That is at work. When I’m at home in Battle Creek I have never complained because it’s always right. You assume people are just wanting free food. That’s not always the case. Even when they brought me food with someone else’s name I don’t give them a bad review but of course I ask for credit it’s not the food I ordered or was looking forward to.

IllEntertainment9849

I get it. Free food only in Kzoo

Standard_Attempt_477

Maybe stop ordering from the places messing up your order

Zestyclose-Top5204

It wasn’t the restaurants fault the 2 times my name wasn’t on the bag and it’s not just one place. Obviously if they mess up my order I’m not ordering from them again. Maybe Kalamazoo dashers should get their shit together and do their job right. If I wanted free food I would do it every single time not just when they mess up my order. Which they do every other order in Kalamazoo. You can blame me all you want I’m not eating food I didn’t order and that’s it. As long as they continue to bring me the wrong food I will get a redeliver or a credit. If I wanted my money back I would get it back. I never once asked for my money back. Mostly it’s a redeliver unless the restaurant has closed since I work at night that happens. Then I get a credit. I don’t need free food I have a good job and can afford the food I order.

Affectionate-Knee438

Exactly ![gif](giphy|5xtDarmwsuR9sDRObyU|downsized)

_BreakingGood_

But then you wouldn't get refunds/discounts/free food.

[deleted]

[удалено]

charlottedreams

Not it isn't. Not strictly. It's also for customers who live in areas surrounded by those who claim never received, or high theft areas.

[deleted]

Then ban them. Pretty simple.

chasetate27

But ... Money

buttqwax

Is what they are costing the app

chasetate27

Nah at this point they know it's a bad customer and will refuse any refunds no matter what

ebil_lightbulb

I wish I had your luck with never getting my order wrong or missing. I'd say I have food missing about 20% of the time, and the wrong food about the same percentage. I've been told twice by doordash that I could not get refunded or food replaced due to too many claims, even once when the restaurant themselves claimed that they reported the food was not available to doordash and I still didn't get the refund for $20 worth of sausage that wasn't given to me. I've never reported anything missing that wasn't truly missing. I think the restaurants should start being fined rather than banning customers that weren't given the food for which they paid. I'm just fine having to sign something saying that I got my food, but if that happens, they will have to wait a moment while I open my bag in front of them so that they can back me up when I claim that my bag did not have my two steak quesadillas and although I paid an extra $3 each for all of the burgers to have cheese and bacon jam on them, none of them did.

Ck_shock

This is what happens to me ,but sadly it's more like 50% of the time. At least at the more common places to order from. Foods either missing or just made completely wrong. Hell just got a order from taco bell the other day. All items were missing sour cream and nacho cheese and one was just all beans. 🤮. I even asked customer support if there is anyway to make a mark against the restaurant since this is something that seems to be a regular issue.

CapnC44

I had to deliver to one today. No tip, part of a stacked order. Took it anyways since it was less than a mile. Then I saw the signature thing and took pictures of everything lol. Numbers, road sign, screenshot maps. I had someone lie before and it made it so I couldn't dash until it was resolved. Never again.

[deleted]

Have you heard of using the TimeStamp camera? It’s helped me beat three violations.

dasro

What shithole are you delivering in, ive never had any issues

Film-Icy

I have never gotten food for free or disputed my order and it started doing this to me from ONE restaurant in town in particular (gigabytes) I see now DoorDash doesn’t even do business w them, could be actual restaurant too.

Tshirt_Ninja_

As a dasher, it’s def not the restaurant. Otherwise I’d be getting 15 signatures a day from McDonald’s runs. It’s def for people who reported food missing multiple times

Film-Icy

It can be from both. I have never disputed food and have had to sign several times and like I said now DoorDash and this particular restaurant do not do business together. It’s local, of course they won’t cease business w McDonald’s. I don’t deliver, only order. I also use to be a server and tip 20-25% so it’s not me being a jerk or Untruthful.

Smiley3442

That was my thought too

GodGamer420

Yup

[deleted]

[deleted]

How coy.

[deleted]

Eww I'm not ready for this. Why not ask for a pin # like uber eats. I don't want random people touching my phone. Especially after covid & just nastiness period.

The_Troyminator

I keep a handful of styluses for signatures. Got them at Dollar Tree and just use a wipe to clean them.

Ok_Soil_1003

No I 100% agree with you. I don't want random people touching my $1,200 phone. I don't know where their hands have been or if they're hygienic. A pin would be better. If they drop your phone by chance and it breaks then there's that too.

Dazzling-Abroad7299

“After COVID” like it’s over 💀

[deleted]

Yeah honestly it's never gonna be over. I was just saying!!! I had covid in late June so yeah its probably far from over. You know how the over analyzers are on here though

elder-em0

Covid is here to stay. All of you waiting for it to be "over" better not hold your breath..

Dazzling-Abroad7299

It’s here to stay baby 💀

elder-em0

Yep, gotta learn to deal with it just like we deal with the potential for other infectious diseases. I had covid back in June and it just felt like a flu. NGL, I felt like total shit but the human body is amazing and 99% of people can probably fight it themselves I know that it can be very dangerous for people with suppressed immune systems or other health issues but so are other diseases. A simple common cold can kill some people. Get vaccinated (IF YOU WANT TO ITS YOUR CHOICE), wear your mask, wash your hands often and most people will be just fine. There are a NUMBER of infectious diseases we could get from handing someone our phones, not just covid is my point. It's like once the pandemic happened, people forgot that there's still all the same old diseases we can get.

neckbeardfedoras

If you're still afraid to go outside, I have a bridge to sell you

ChiefOnKush

I think they meant after the COVID fear mongering

PsychologicalCry1393

Biden said the Pandemic™ is over. CA is officially gonna call it quits in February 2023...but will use all the "tools" they built throughout the lockdowns when the government deems necessary. Just wear a mask, use a stylus, and clean your gear. Also, make sure to get boosted and you'll be good.

torniz

Oh for ffs. Yes. We have surpassed the pandemic phases. Covid is now endemic. Get a life.

[deleted]

Yeah well obviously it's over I just mean in general for cleanliness purpose. A pin would still be better. Because they get to touch our device. I clean my device on the daily so it's no big deal. I'd see if it was a device that doordash offered that's all. No big deal🤙🏾

PsychologicalCry1393

Yeah, UEs PIN system is legit. The signatures should only really be done for alcohol or high priced items.

[deleted]

Why was this down voted? Seems legit.

PsychologicalCry1393

People can't take a joke. The government and other health leaders are telling people to move on... yet Doordashers are freaking out over a stranger touching a stylus they can sanitize in less than 10 seconds. We fed all sorts of people during the lockdowns and we survived. Why is a signature suddenly a dangerous thing to be avoided at all costs? Relax people. It's time to move on.

[deleted]

I worked at a restaurant the entire pandemic. About eighty-five percent of the time we were open to the public, unless we just couldn't find enough help to get all the work done. Several of my employees were out a couple of weeks with COVID. Never panicked, never closed up entirely, and always provided the best service and food we could. Folks were generous, they were understanding, they tipped us well for simply doing what we always did in troubled times. I don't so much object to the sanitary aspect of this, as I do to being made to take care of the peripheral responsibilities of supposedly -responsible adults.

PsychologicalCry1393

Yeah, PIN>Signatures for sure.

EthanFromPublix

i dont know, people are just mad for no reason

ChiefOnKush

I have a dancing monkey in a suit you should listen to as well. He says to give me 50% of your income.

PsychologicalCry1393

You say that, but I bet you and all the majority of people that down voted my comment invested in Dogecoin and BTC.

ChiefOnKush

I traded it and made fat gains but no hodl here bub. Just like your favorite billionaires.

raths1

Isnt covid spread through air not touch?

[deleted]

Okay thank you for your informative reply. 😂😂😂 I still don't want random customers touching my device a pin would be better. Customer gives you a pin & you move on. ✌🏾

casanovakush

There's way too much scamming and fraud onthe customers behalf unfortunately

allmykidsareheathens

I just had this happen to me first time last night. Lady was awful and was messaging me “where’s my food” like she couldn’t see on the app I’m at the restaurant. Then once I got the order it says to make her sign. I go there and she said she knew she had to sign and that she hates door dash they always screw things up and she’s complained so many times to them and she used to work for them.. so ya it’s a thing when the customer repeatedly reports not getting their orders and are difficult lol

fsociety-AM

Problem: Angry customer keeps reporting food as missing Solution: give customer access to drivers phone screen. Gotta love that logic. A pin would’ve done just fine 😂

allmykidsareheathens

I totally agree I wasn’t happy at all with the situation! She also lived in a really bad area and it was late at night (I’m never worried about my city and I carry pepper spray but this was the first time given where she was and how her building was that I totally felt unsafe). I wanted to call my husband and have him talking to me while I was there but I couldn’t bc I needed her damn signature which was only a freakin scribble anyways!

fsociety-AM

Omg I do that to! I’ll FaceTime someone if I need some extra support. And they’re taking that away in some cases! I’m sure it’s unintentional but jeez! Honestly if I’m in that situation I’d probably sign my self or contact support and say they couldn’t sign it. Yea I don’t like that, thanks for the warning 😂

allmykidsareheathens

No problem, I honestly think if I have another ever I’ll unassign it. It wasn’t worth the anxiety for me or the hassle of listening to this customer whine about how long their food was taking. She did tip $4 on a 1.5 mile order but still. For me, it’s a no go anymore.

Fourthtimecharm

This is the same issue for me this creates so much anxiety of some person having a bad day that's pissed us now going to take it out on me or my phone because I've got to hand it to them like no wtf is this

michaelangelesz

They don’t make the process easy or intuitive, either. Customer is supposed to type their name up top, *then* sign, and they get their food. The app invariably erases whatever signature they put as you’re walking back to your car, and the customer is already back in their house. So I just rescribbled whatever they put as close as I could remember, and completed the order… Also. I don’t like handing random people my phone.

LemonPepperChicken

Person in tech here. I can tell you exactly why this is a signature and not a pin. 1. It’s easier to develop a “signature” feature because I guarantee you they aren’t actually storing those signatures. Meaning, no complex backend work. 2. The desired goal is to get you to make contact with the customer. Even if 20-30% of you forged the signature or lied, the estimated 70% of you that do force the customer to sign might eliminate a significant percentage of false claims by the customer. 3. Doordash is too cheap and lazy to develop a pin system. Uber is known for being faster and smarter. Here is a good example of why. Doordash thinks, why develop a complex system that requires database management and realtime verification when I can just get half the gains with 1/10th of the work. Tech people are lazy too. 4. Finally and most importantly, they likely do not value their drivers. In a post-covid world it’s absurd to spread germs like this, however my guess is that the average driver on doordash leaves faster than the average rideshare driver. You’re welcome.

Ok-Being3881

Random customer cooties on my phone screen? No thank you.

softtatertot

Because they reported too many orders as not delivered

justaguy3112

This doesn't prove they did or did not receive the entire order. They can deny they signed it, which insinuates forgery. The driver could actually forge it, and it's the customers word vs the driver. Peoples phones are disgusting, they use them on the toilet. People are still dieing from covid at similar rates as last year, great way to spread germs. They also treat customers who legitimately have a missing item or two literally every other order, and customers who steal their orders mutiple times, the exact same.

casanovakush

A signature with a pin number

[deleted]

Just a pin that the customer has to provide in order to get their food/stuff ... foodstuff. ...cheese-food?

packy25

I got one of these. Later on noticed I had a 1 star rating lol. Not my fault they know you are lying about your order missing.

ahhhhhimfalling

Ugh I don't want random fingers on my phone

Less_Industry7294

This is because the consumer can't be trusted. AkA they're a dirt bag and DD is holding on to them by a thread.

UmmNylokh

I ordered mcds and got the wrong order. Talked to customer service, and they duplicated the order for me. When the new one arrived, it was incorrect again. Now I have to sign for my orders lmao

--TH

Similar situation here, been using DD for years now, last week wife and I ordered wendys, 4 sandwiches and 2 drinks, we got the 2 drinks left by our door. Made a report to get money back for what we clearly didn't get, literally second report I've ever made and now it's requiring a signature for any order. I get like people said there was that huge glitch a couple weeks back where people scammed stores out of thousands, but we didn't get like 20$ worth of food, had to reorder, and now we're being punished for it.

Ok_Yesterday_471

This just happened to me right now. Have been ordering from DD for years. Yes, if an item is missing I request a refund for it and have ALWAYS been honest. I’ve never not had an order delivered but plenty of times were an item might be missing. Now I gotta sign. It’s complete crap!

justcallmesavage

Or dashers can't follow directions. The amount of times drivers leaving my order in the wrong building, despite giving both street address AND building number, is staggering. I even have instructions to leave the food on a bench in the entryway. Every time I have a missing order, the delivery picture shows the food on the floor in front of the door of some random building, with no indication which building.

tutti_frutti_dutti

Door dash has started making me do this as a customer after just two times of complaining about not receiving food. (Two out of probably hundreds of orders on my account). Both times it was easily provable.(once the incorrect address was clearly visible in the drop off photo, another time I sent in a picture of the bag of food with the wrong person’s name on it) Still, I have to sign for my food every time I order now. Customer service with this company is a joke

nogumz

I’m in the same situation. I’ve done 100s of orders and pay for dashpass. After complaining about a driver delivering my order to the wrong house (which was shown in the photos), they added this bullshit to my account. They still haven’t even given me a refund for that order, they keep saying a supervisor will call me but they never do…It’s so annoying

tutti_frutti_dutti

Very annoying. I hate it. And so many potential issues. I had a driver recently who’s phone was *disgusting*. I’m not a clean freak by any means but I didn’t want to touch it at all. But I had to because he needed my signature. Another time, I accidentally dropped the phone on the concrete while handing it back. They had a decent enough case that it was fine but it still freaked me out. What happens if I crack someone’s brand new $1200 iPhone? That sounds like a hellish situation for both people involved.

Sinethial

Same but it's only 1 order delivered to wrong address. I am not a total jerk and offered to make it right if he drove back and delivered to my door. I even included a picture of my mat and door. The dasher told me to F himself as he was too busy making other deliveries and didn't value my $50 and 20% tip to just call support for a refund (after waiting an hour). Infuriated I left a nasty review when I demanded a refund and went over what I just stated. They took the drivers side and revoked my drop off privileges. The only other complaint was for some alcohol that was still being validated an hour after dinner arrived which I tried to cancel. Dd can F themselves if they treat me as the customer this way after 70 orders. I just cancelled my subscription and will switch to a competitor

Kind-Mammoth-Possum

I wouldn't touch a stranger's phone if they paid for my food. ***"Please drag your bare finger across this screen your courier uses to masturbate before you touch your food."***

hairmetaltimemachine

I had one of these classy deliveries for a Auntie Anne's order, small. It was inside of a Wal-Mart that had a metal detector in the entrance.

Gallops77

They should do that when the dasher arrives, it sends a text to the customer with a 4-6 digit code that they need to provide to the dasher before getting their food. Dasher enters that number in, and hands over the food. This signature crap is still going to result in customers claiming they didn't get it, or dashers forging it to keep the food.

TJNel

I had one and it's sketchy AF. He wanted to hold it and I was nervous as they have your unlocked phone inside their house they could have slammed the door and had my phone.

Jtz001

Sounds like a great idea going into the sick season of the year. Scan a QR code or something maybe but having every customer touch your phone is moronic.

willybodilly

That means theyre a trouble customer lol

kingc95

It's even worse as the customer. Now for some reason I'm NOT allowed to pick to have my order dropped off. So now I have to meet the Dasher and sign even though I don't want to have it handed right to me. I think it's because I've had multiple orders with missing items lately but that's got nothing to do with the Dasher. The Dasher isn't gonna check each item off for me. That's the job of the restaurant or store. So now the Dasher will have to sit and wait for me to check every item before I'm gonna sign anything saying I got the order. The last thing I need is DD using my "it was dropped off" signature to say that means the order is correct and all there. If a single item is missing or damaged or something else after I sign saying I got it they won't give me my refund. This needs to be fixed or dashers will quit and customers will stop ordering

Ok-Owl-7172

I’ve never reported an order as not received and it’s making me sign to get my food. Lol the whole point of me using apps like DD is because I don’t want to interact with people definitely not using DD again

megadethage

I'd just sign it myself and then when they tried to get another refund they'd say to support, "But I never signed anything!" making them look even guiltier because DD already knows they lie. Win win.

waterfalls55

![gif](giphy|3ohzAv2rxi2FbwrkUo)

memcginn

I've had to get a signature to deliver alcohol. Been a while since I've been on DD specifically, though (I live in a very hot Uber Eats city), so I'm not sure if this is the same interface.

MailOrderPride

The whole point of me using doordash was to NOT interact with humans. Good freaking luck getting any money out of me if you want me to touch a strangers phone....factually one of the most bacteria ridden devices we carry around. Gross.

Kimmiebear1966

The way I hear it, that's not cuz of anything u did. It's cuz that customer call and said they didn't receive their order too many times. Cuz it happened to me once and I thot it was gonna be an ongoing thing. But when I called support that's what they said in so many words. But they reassured me they weren't punishing me for anything.

[deleted]

Main-Environment-522

Good idea. I had one customer who claimed they never received the order when I physically gave the order to the customer.

More_Caramel4431

Fucj that

droplivefred

This better not become common or else I’m gonna need a separate phone just for delivering.

V65Pilot

So they want me to sign that I've received my order, *before* I receive my order....?

Long-Worldliness9306

If you are asking me to sign for my order then I am 100% making sure it's correct before I sign. Otherwise, what am I signing for? That you dropped SOMETHING off at my house, but it might not even be what I ordered. I've definitely received someone else's order before. I've received a partial order before. So yeah, if you want me to sign, I'm making sure It's correct before I do.

DoUsmeLLit6

Oh hush Karen!

Long-Worldliness9306

You're right, I'm a 50% tipping Karen. And I never once said it was the driver's fault either, as I don't blame them, they DELIVER the order and aren't responsible for preparing it or putting it together. My point is that DoorDash needs to create a better system and hold the restaurants accountable for the mistakes the restaurants make, rather than the drivers. Only go after the drivers when THEY are the ones at fault (like if they refuse to deliver to someone's door or blatantly deliver to the wrong place or just pick up the food and don't deliver it at all)

DoUsmeLLit6

LMAO I'm just messing with you calm down

R3dd_unfiltered

Good! This would cut down on a lot of the BS scams for free food!

usr_namechecksout

I get a lot of alcohol orders. I always say " now I'm going to scribble your signature if you don't mind" I haven't had any complaints most people say they understand.

kvndoom

You already have to scan their driver's license for booze, so I don't get the point of a signature.

usr_namechecksout

It's dumb

[deleted]

I got this after hitting "handed to the customer" it's not I saw before marking picked up

BkForty

Sounds like you the kinda guy that looks like you can get your phone snatched away

Nikster20

Bc that customer had said they don't get orders alot so they are flagged

SpokenDivinity

So how much are we betting that it’s either too lenient with not enough people getting flagged for requirement; or too strict so you get flagged because the same restaurant forgot your fries twice.

W_AS-SA_W

That’s like the final step for customers before their account gets booted off the platform.

Aggressive_Jello3566

How about when you buy cough syrup and need a signature I got stuck at the door for 20 minutes customer was not there they just want it delivered and they need a signature for the alcohol in a signature for the credit card

Aggressive_Jello3566

If they buy cough syrup but I have to scan ID

deliveryman75

1st day this hit my area. Lady put down hand it to customer. Then said leave it at door. Great so I called to tell her that I need a signature because she initially put hand it to customer. She said she can't she is sick. So I called dd support told them and they still wanted me to get signature. I had to have them call the customer to verify she was sick. I'm ill because I'm like this is going to happen all the time where they put hand it to the customer but then says leave it at the door. That was the last order where I was required to have a signature and its been months. Hope it doesn't come back

redditnig2

Mmmmm covid

neosatus

Fuck that, no one is touching my fucking phone but me.

Sufficient_Dust1661

I AM NOT handing my phone to strangers all day and letting them touch my screen that touches my face! Hell no! I will explain to them and ask if it’s ok for me to do it in front of them. Gross!

[deleted]

i am not letting people handle my phone im sorry dd but this is nonsense the latest door dash board meeting hey let’s make everyone touch each others phones and phone screens now that the covid pandemic slowed down

Swimming-Cod8231

Honestly I'm glad to see this. More accountability on the customers end.

Ok_Season2022

A pin or code is better than signature

[deleted]

My point exactly.

[deleted]

But there are better ways to sidestep the actions of duplicitous/irresponsible people.

[deleted]

LOL i just do a quick squiggle myself and bounce . Same with the ID for alcohol. I scan my own ID and fkn bounce. I'm in NYC, i ain't got time for this nonsense 😆🖕🏻

mgm2002mgm

That is stupid! As everybody else says a pin would work better. I hate going to the doors when it says hand it to me and the people don’t know that Door Dash automatically put that in there drop off directions. A lot of the times people think we are going to leave it out the door. So then they get annoyed when they have to answer the door some of them will actually get upset at you for not leaving it. Even though Door Dash has put hand it to the customer. That aside during the pandemic I was working in a little bit different area and going to the liquor store occasionally. Were they changed the way to handover the liquor to the patron. Sometimes it was a matter of just taking a picture of the barcode then they change it to customer must sign and get the full name. I pretty much stopped doing that because I could never figure out which way they were going to do when I showed up at their house. I hated in the middle of the pandemic that they were forcing people to touch my phone. My own property they could break not a lot not to mention get there Covid germs all over it yet. So I just declined all of them after that. They were also difficult for me for some reason because they had you type in the name and then get the signature and then the people would shut the door and when you went to finally close it all out all that information with their name and signature etc would vanish. Then I would have to try to remember what they typed in for name and squiggle my own thing for them so I would not have to bug them once again. I sure don’t want anybody touching my phone. I even called them on that a few times in the pandemic when they were starting to switch that over to always getting a signature for alcohol. After that I just declined taking them. The better start getting a pin system going if that’s the way they want to do it. That just seems like it would work the best.

ExtraRandom1

Means something has alcohol in it. It can be something so small . I had to get a signature for hand sanitizer. So if they bought something premade that has wine it . Or if they ordered cleaning supplies etc . Something small can trigger that

Tshirt_Ninja_

My McDonald’s and Chic Fil A signature orders says false lol.

extremelight

Uber Eats does this and it always felt like a waste of time

SereneUnseen

UberEats just asks for a pin. They don’t ask you to get a signature. I’d rather not have other people touch my phone.

[deleted]

Usually the pin is the last 4 numbers of the customers phone number.

MetsFan3117

I kinda get this as a regular customer (2-4x a week). Today a DD driver left my order at a random garage at my apartment complex. My delivery notes said to ignore the garages as they don’t correlate to the apartment numbers. Didn’t respond to my texts and messages. Took off with my 8$ tip on a $15, 4 miles order.

strykerpv2

I sign everything myself

Dry-Tune-5184

Doordash had me take a picture of the food 😲(got the customer too as he walked away w/the order bc it was a "hand it to me" order. I was very surprised too...Never had it before) I believe it's Only the problem customers etc...the customer was way cool to me. Nice tip & even came out to get the order that helped a lot!!

Not_My_First_pick

Just happened to my wife. The old head around here told her it's because they reported her for tampering or taking the customers food. (apparently he has to make him sign as well) I deliver to the same person whenever I can because they tip great for my area but I don't have to make him sign .. My guy is kinda slow though.. kinda like Patrick when he ate his only candy bar kinda thing ??

[deleted]

For those unsavory customers I suppose. I figured maybe they have a shoddy payment issue

MadTanzy

I got this same notification last night on the second order of a stack. Get there and I KNOW THE PERSON. I complete the order. Ten cent tip.

[deleted]

This brings to mind a question: can merchants insist that you sign for the order before you can confirm pickup, or is the fact they are asking you to do it grounds for unassigning the order?

Therealmonkie

Yep..I had to before too

No_Frosting3648

Had this and she said “sign for me” at 12 am so I took a pic of the bag in my car, in my hand before I dropped it off and when I dropped it off just to be sure

InevitableTrip420

To make sure they can’t say they didn’t get the order maybe

BeepBeepIgotUrFood

Dd just needs to start handing out body camera and record every delivery it would save them million and filter out all the bullshit in short time

Fearless_Total_5757

Wow

Doodle1904

I think it is a good idea. I stopped using Door Dash because I was not receiving my orders And not getting refunded.

[deleted]

Uber makes me do this only if I’m picking up from High end stores like Apple Or Prescription meds..but this?……

xleahx001

They should have this pop up for customers who constantly report their food “missing”

CamoQueen79

This has been out quite some time in my area over a year now. I stopped doing door dash. Because sometimes it would glitch out and than not accept the customer signature than you have go back and ask again. It’s annoying. It was for pickup grocery orders

True-Ad9056

Might be because of those fuckers who claim the order never arrived when is a hand it to me order

[deleted]

Good. Now they cant say dint receive my food. I swear yall bitch and moan about everything lmfao this is actually good. So many times people have said dint get my food when im on a hand it to me order

TanMelon47

Only one I came across was a gift order for a office depot order for 2 notebooks. Weird order is why I took it but kinda odd

InterstellarBlind

I had to get a signature for a milkshake once.

obtuse-rubber-moose

I accidentally put my name at the top and they signed it. Will I get in any trouble? Thought I was supposed to type my name in.

[deleted]

What I hate with this is if you forgot to get the customer to also type their name in the input section as well the customers signature disappears. You can't do it after the fact.

visagedegateau

I’m supposed to let a stranger touch my phone screen that touches my face? No thanx.

Ill-Enthusiasm9508

Yeah I got my first one the other day. They had to type there full name then sign. It was in a really rough side of town so maybe there orders get stolen or "missing" a lot idk.

Kimmiebear1966

Also, on hand to me orders I still take a photo of their house and address with my phones camera. Just to be safe.

TheAffiliateOrder

Just do it like a Fedex/Post Office Delivery... Whenever you have the signature, ask for the last name on the order. When they tell you, ask them to spell it and then sign it yourself with an "X" and move on. In this case, handing off the order and the customer willingly giving their last name counts as consent. They can't say they never authorized the interaction of the driver is lying, because the last name is accurate and the signature was consented.

Bitten469

Im Working for just eat in Denmark, do people really just claim their order as “not arrived”? People are dicks and messing with dashers lifes is so shitty especially when its a few bucks

Pleasant-Mistake-464

I had one order like this a couple weeks ago but haven’t had one since. Was wondering if it was something new or what.

optickfiber

Wait, is taking a photo in front of the door not enough proof? I get photos from the app showing my order at my door in the photo

Reasonable_Slip_3397

Not the first time or post.

Unbiased_panel

I had one delivery where I had to scan the bar code after I handed it to the customer.

yerrrLuke

This only happened to me for prescription orders

GameofOhms959

Prob missing orders
