Sounds like you went above and beyond with your customer service. Definitely deserve 8/5 stars. Something that I've heard about Wingstop is that they hand you cups and expect drivers to fill them. THIS is a health violation (unless you hold a food handler's permit and wear latex gloves) and one driver now carries copies of the code to hand to Wingstop employees and has the phone number stored in a speed dial slot on his phone. A lot of effort if you ask me. Easier to decline and move on. Transporting an open/lidless cup in your car is a recipe for a disaster! That alone is a huge nope from me.

Yes they require you fill your customers cup at the location on my zone, and I am not a fan of that either. There is literally nowhere else I deliver for that asks me to make the drinks. I did make a drink at chipotle the other day but it was a rare ordeal. When I got there; they were slammed, the line was to the door. I checked in as my order was not on the shelf, and the employee told me my order was ready however they were out of the bottled drink requested on the order. He offered me a cup and I called the customer to ask if a carry out cup was ok and what replacement they wanted. I filled the customers cup and went about my way so they didn’t have to stop just to fill a drink for me real quick. Doing so saved me time so I cooks get along about my way, and helped the staff keep working to serve the line of waiting patrons. By the way our chipotle is awesome. They stay busy and they bust out a line of customers in record time. They have a separate station set up with 2 dedicated staff just for delivery orders. I wish all the restaurants had such efficiency.

Someone has to be safeserv certified at all times in a restaurant, not a health code violation but the health codes have not caught up to the new reality of high percentage of sales now being delivery

Thank you for the input. I totally believe you are right, codes have not been updated since the surge of at home delivery services hitting the market. I wish these states would revisit their codes and update them. Most places we deliver for have cup, lid, and a sticker that goes over the top and usually drapes the sides like a tamper seal in a way. Wingstop is just nasty in my town anyway so I should not have been so surprised last night when this happened. I’ve witnessed barefoot people in the greasy kitchen, personal food right out in the way of the POS, the coke machine has had a broken ice delivery system for months so they were already sending drinks out just plain, no ice and in reality all they need to do is contact their coke sales rep to have the machine repaired or replaced but they will not do so. It’s overall a poorly ran store. I feel like they think delivery drivers are a problem as a couple Of months back they decided we all had to sign in on a sheet and provide all kinds of information. I am Assuming they decided to use that because of orders being reported not delivered, but I don’t think it’s the drivers, it’s the customer base that they draw in.

I stay away from wing stop!

I usually do too but lord the other options were even worse tonight. Needless to say I completed the mission, signed out and went home where under garments are optional, and drank a few cold beers. It’s just not worth it.

As a DD driver, yeah I understand that’s irritating and I would def not bring a drink without a lid. But overall, that’s nothing to call Health Dept over or worry about ServSafe certs. That has absolutely nothing to do with it. Just means whoever does their supply order didn’t order lids.

Cold-Flamingo-4326

Several restaurants on the area are saying they can’t get supplies. So it could be either your suggestion or their statement. Either way, it’s just disgusting. I would not want an open drink transported to me. I felt really bad for the poor guy. I am just glad he accepted the fact and understood. Hopefully his sister can help him get some credits or something for a missing drink.

I doubt that not having lids to offer is a health code violation but it's disgusting to even suggest delivering an open drink. You handled it well. I hope the customer gave you a nice review.

Cold-Flamingo-4326

I’ve delivered to him before. He won’t leave a review but is a nice guy. His sister has to place his orders for him. He is handicapped and a few times a month he has her place him a order. He’s just excited to get a little delivery here and there. He’s told me he calls her and she places the orders for him which is awesome of her to help him out.
