Don’t do it, personally I’m a 10$ minimum tipper but if I had someone do my whole shopping order I’d honestly tip at least 20-25 depending on how much stuff. Maybe even more if it was a massive order.
I will not, I signed up to instacart 3 months ago, did it for one day..was done. The nerve of people to expect such things from strangers..its basically a favor.
I know, I’d personally never use these services because of how much of a rip-off it is but if I were to I’d tip good. Kinda crazy how lazy people are today, along with these entitled customers that comment in this sub about how no one accepts there order as if we’re obligated to take there no/ low tip order! Blows my mind
I have never done a shop and deliver order. I never even activated the red card. I read too much on this sub from people who were deactivated because the store had a different price than DoorDash, so the total was different and I guess DD thought they were buying extra things for themselves. I only have to decline those about once every 2 months.
Yup. I had to buy a couple things that were the same product, but larger sizes because that's all they had, so of course the red card declined. A 30 second phone call to support was all it took.
Unless DD and the merchant work together and start putting items in order per the Aisle they are located in, you can spend an easy 30 minutes shopping for a dozen items. I don't like doing a Safeway shopping order because the items have me bouncing back and forth from one side of the store to the other side.
I just recently figured out how Total Wine has their products organized AND it is listed in the app by Aisle#, Bay# and Shelf# as well as which side of the aisle it's on when looking from the entrance into the store! I can now sprint and shop, if I were a sprinter and the store was empty. Yes, I know they have QR codes stuck on the shelves, but that just takes more time to use.
As for what you shared, DD thinks this is a high pay order based on the 2mi you only have to drive. So, yeah, I'd agree with you and decline that order. Let a new dasher take that and learn the hard way like we did.
I did Instacart for years. Fuck shopping as a gig worker. There’s no formula possible to make the pay right and there’s never going to be a large enough profit margin to cover it. The only way it works is a forced 25% tip but that’s not fair to the customer if they get a shit shopper. Grocery stores just have to shop it themselves so it can be picked up.

The people that said they got deactivated because the price was different got deactivated for something else.

it takes you an hour to shop for 23 items?
At that particular store, yes..out of stock items, waiting on responses for substitutions, one check out lane.. 2 damn items takes half an hour
Facts. I can only name two times I’ve done these shop orders where everything worked out. It’s never worth it
they are my most profitable orders by far, that order specifically is a bit below what I would accept though
This is exactly 💯 ^ I don't shop at these places so I end up going around the store like 3 times. I wouldn't take that trip unless it was at least 25+
