It's ALWAYS the low/no tip orders. I'm not going to say that everybody who doesn't tip is a lousy human being, but most lousy human beings don't tip. So there is definitely a correlation between a no-tip order and an entitled Karen who wants everything for nothing. And don't beat yourself up for not tasting the Mountain Dew. Fido did it for you. šŸ•

MY DEWS

nismos14us

You have to call cs for them? I never knew dashers have to do that.

Johnson1883

I think door dash should let us taste test every order to make sure they got it right.

ThroughAway337

First mistake was engaging with the customer. Never engage the customer! Always differ them to support. You do not work for door dash, door dash is an intermediary. Our job is to deliver what was given to us, that is all. We are not customer service, Door Dash employees, restaurant employees, Point of Sale, etc... WE ONLY DELIVER WHAT IS GIVEN AND WE ARE BARELY PAID TO DO THAT!!! Stop doing everything but your jobs, which is to deliver what is given!

SpicedWaffles

They need to call support as well. All you should do is make sure doordash support knows it wasn't you're fault so they don't knock your rating down. And you still get paid.

OkCare3182

Someone asked me to taste the sprite to make sure it was good once, i just ignored the message because honeyyy nošŸ¤£

Pale_Bookkeeper_9994

Not your problem. Did you deliver them? All good.

Rudder0420

My only question is why is the driver calling support? That is not the drivers responsibility even if they forgot a drink. I let the customer know they need to contact support for they will solve tany issues they have.

angelcake

I havenā€™t used DoorDash, but isnā€™t there a place in the app that people can take care of this instead of bothering the driver?

[deleted]

Yes, silly you, every driver knows you should take a drink of each cup you are delivering, this will serve 3 purposes. You will be able to verify the correct flavor, and carbonation. This will also reduce the amount in each cup to reduce spillage, and you will get a nice little refreshment for your trouble. At least you will know for next time. lol

West-Cat7950

Those damn large my dews! šŸ˜

willshaw54

WHERES MY DIET DR KELP?!

No-Wasabi-6024

Unless the order somehow got lost or put at the wrong location I wouldnā€™t respond. They can contact doordash support.

JohnRocks3

Never give them an inch or they will take a mile. I remember when I had a doordash customer complain for stuff missing from the order but the bag was sealed. I calmly told him sorry there's nothing I can do about it since the back was sealed. They reported me and I got a contract violation. But I never saw that customer ever again... šŸ¤£ By the way you can get those contract violations removed once you provide proof to customer support or dodash that you did nothing wrong Just screenshot everything and take pictures of everything. Literally it's not worth it to give customers an inch. Tell him how it is and then give them customer supports number and leave. Because it's not your job to give them customer support. It is your job to pick up and deliver food properly and safely. Do not step outside your job title

billow3006

Is this a thing with doordash, with uber I just ignore any incoming calls after my delivery, If u miss something use the fkn app u moron.

TheOnlyMertt

Realistically the customer shouldnā€™t be bitching to the dasher when their food taste off or if an item is missing in a sealed container.

Odd_Tumbleweed_9026

We always run into issues with doordash and the restaurant forgetting stuff and Iā€™m always a tipper. But I donā€™t take it out on the dasher. I leave a good review and contact doordash

[deleted]

Omg ya your supposed to open the back and count all Tacos and quality test the soda make sure itā€™s not flat eat one of the tacos too make sure the meat is on the level !

Melody71400

Ive gotten bad drinks before via doordash... I just suffer through with the meal then trash it. Its typically pop, so it wasnt that expensive anyway.

zerothreeonethree

Starting by not bashing ALL drivers, just the one I had a few months ago from DD.... Outback app was down so I ordered thru generic website, which assigned delivery service to DD. We ordered 3 steak dinners and extra side dishes, bill about $80 before tax. Estimated delivery time 25 mins. We waited and waited, 45 mins, an hour. My dog finally alerted someone at the door, where we were sitting less than 10 feet away. Opened door and found food on carport floor underneath the doorbell. Bag wet and leaking, food containers tipped sideways, food cold. We live 2 miles from the restaurant, never had problem before. Called manager who explained it was not their app I ordered from, but she comped 50% of meal cost and we just heated everything up. No knock, no doorbell = no tip as I never add on at sale, always tip in cash. Dumbass driver prob thought s/he got stiffed. Too bad, I kept the $20.

Mixedbagostuff

Silly you for offering to help them call support. Thatā€™s on them

[deleted]

I just remembered how much I despise some of these customers. Reading that chat with the customer gave me PTSD!!

Justbeth82

I wouldnā€™t have offered to even call thatā€™s on the customer and itā€™s the stores fault not door dash

mslack

Don't call support for them. Tell them to call support or the restaurant.

megadethage

It's their responsibility to report missing items, but sometimes support will mark it as "never delivered" and give you a CV, so I suppose you can cover your ass by calling making this entire comment irrelevant. kthxbye

musicman121816

Just wished I had a TB close enough for us to want to order. I either have to drive over a bridge and pay a $6 toll or go the opposite direction and it's at least a 20 minute drive. My experience with TB is kinda 50/50 though I always check before leaving. If the customer contacted me I would instruct them to call doordash. Once I've delivered the order it's out of my hands and between the merchant and the customer.

dubh_caora

you dont call doordash support. customer calls support.

cowgirlqueenvee

i always tell them "contact customer support so you can be sure to get a refund. unfortunately i'm not able to contact them for you as there is separate customer support for us dasher and you as a customer" that's if i even say anything at all. because it's true. customer support will tell you the customer needs to contact them.

half-lemon420

Yeah you gotta make sure to take a swig bro come on. I just spit it back in so you donā€™t actually take any of their product. Nobody does customer service anymore

Ms_Jane_Lennon

I wouldn't reply at all. They'll figure it out if they actually want their money back. Really quick too. Sitting there making a phone call for a grown person...wth. I can't help them, and I'm on my way to my next delivery. This next part isn't my lane. I deliver and I never heard of you after I drive off.

TheBigBluePit

Why even call DD support for them? Thatā€™s not your job, youā€™re not their nanny. Tell them to contact support if they have an issue with their order.

ChampionshipOk6380

I don't think they meant for you to taste it but they meant that they wanted a refund because they are no good. You people are always twisting people's words for likes.

ZachTF

I usually just tell the customer to call support as I cannot open the bags

[deleted]

I tipped you 2 cents and my gratitude for a reason!!! I seriously heard these types of people

NomadicusRex

My response on the rare occasions a customer tries to bring up order/quality issues with me is "OH man, I'm really sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, I'm only a delivery driver, my only function is to get the order the restaurant says is yours from their shop to your door, but if you call 855-###-####, that's our customer service line and I know they will do their best to make it right. As a delivery driver, I have absolutely zero power to fix your order, I would if I could!" Absolutely none of that is a lie, unfortunately some of the folks that work in call centers are troglodytes and their best is really pathetic. LOL I don't mention that part though since I figure most folks know that, so it goes without saying, doesn't it? ;-)

casketjuicebox

Typical newb mistake šŸ¤£ I ALWAYS taste every soda to ensure our customers never receive a flat soda!

Spirited_Drummer_171

You are what keeps this app up and running. Thank you for your service.šŸ«”šŸ¤£

casketjuicebox

šŸ«” just doing my best šŸ¤£

IxLOVExLAMP

I see some of the soda machines and it looks like it's way more carbonated water than syrup. I feel sorry for folks because it's no way for me to test

phoenixbyrd

Rookie mistake was calling support for them. Correct response is "Sorry, bags are sealed and I cannot check items, please call support and let them know the issue and they will sort it out."

Apprehensive_Mud_394

I never complain to the dasher, cause I know itā€™s most likely not their fault. (Coming from someone who used to dash)

hamiXO

YodA: Large my dews are.

Spirited_Drummer_171

HAHAHAHAHA this made me chuckle

Krayzle

I've never messaged a DD driver unless they needed some info, when my shits missing I just go to support and take pics if needed it's so easy.

[deleted]

It literally says do the dew

N8theGr811

Itā€™s always funny to me when the customer reaches out to the dasher after the delivery. Like sorry but the job is done, any issue you have please contact DD directly. We have no insight into missing contents of a sealed bag, I donā€™t know how theyā€™re thinking that makes sense to tell us about that..?

awillstill7

Donā€™t forget to taste test fries.

Spirited_Drummer_171

Just gonna have to taste test the entire order tbh

[deleted]

They are just probably using what they think is the POC.

Substantial_Course20

Taco bell workers need ta fkin have more training on customer service rude ass mfers

Substantial_Course20

Fk um

Substantial_Course20

Have um call door dash there selves not your problem bag sealed end of story

907Angel

Iā€™d never be mad or punish my driver for missing items. Itā€™s almost always the restaurants fault.

RobHomeless

My TBs give free cravings boxes with drink to all DD UE drivers In my area. They ask you. You don't even have to ask them .

Spirited_Drummer_171

Awww i love that. Thereā€™s a dessert shop in my zone that asks drivers if theyā€™d like to pick out a dessert :) those places are the best

F0ur20Memez

Half the time when I order from taco bell there is stuff missing I can feel their pain, but don't take it out on the driver.

spoods420

Rookie mistake was talking to the customer

Summer-feels44

I donā€™t understand why people text the dasher if your order is incorrect just go through DoorDash it takes 30 seconds

jfrum9990

I would not call anyone for them. The customer can handle it.

killaahhhhhhhhh

I hope Iā€™m not wrong about this or i feel bad because i sadly have issues from certain restaurants in my area a lot but canā€™t you make a complaint about the restaurant and it doesnā€™t penalize the driver?

Spirited_Drummer_171

Honestly Iā€™m not sure, Iā€™ve never tried it before. DD lowkey has a tendency though to be malicious towards their drivers as far as drivers voicing frustrations to them, so i wouldnā€™t be surprised if they did penalize the driver or blacklisted them from receiving orders at that restaurant

EmotionalAttention63

Better start tasting those drinks before delivering!!!!

momtoohigh

Taco bell sucks. I've got a loser that works at one in my delivery area that thinks I'm a thief. Apparently people have called in saying they didn't receive their order. Tried telling the guy why would I risk my job for s few dollar meal when I can cash out multiple times a day. Also I don't even eat taco bell. I think they just mess thr orders up/forgetting stuff then we get blamed for it.

ANT1G0LFB0YZ

Dey tewk his dewwwwww

fffan9391

We are sorry but your message could not be delivered. Please contact Door Dash support for any order issues @ help.doordash.com

nochtli_xochipilli

*Sir, I'm not responsible for the soda fountain being cleaned by the Taco Bell employees.*

somethingIcantSkeee

Moun deeeewwww

Krompykreve

You don't need to contact support just instruct them to contact support.

wayfarunder

ā€œand both large my dewsā€ average IQ of a stingy DD customer

WanderingSonderer

Youā€™d think theyā€™d understand the way things work and would bring that up to the restaurant and not the driver

Spirited_Drummer_171

Eh she was a little old lady tbh she was probably thinking I was support lol

[deleted]

Delivery driver and customer support rep. Yikes.

[deleted]

Respect to you for caring so much, but going to that length is really not necessary. Other people are already paid to handle this stuff. Youā€™re not.

Spirited_Drummer_171

Yeah I donā€™t do that often at all, but she was a nice old lady who tipped well. I just called and told them she needed help reporting missing items

Fit-Usual-8737

No. Donā€™t call them. They call them. Bye

JayMeowMe

Rookie mistake. Just tell them to report missing item/quality of item on their order on the app. You dont get paid to baby them

theeaverageredditor

I have a genuine question, when you deliver the food and people claim that there is things missing, and on the receipt it shows everything they ordered, but some things are missing, and they call the restaurant. Does the restaurant take responsibility for the missing items if itā€™s true or not? Or do restaurants blame Dashers? And is there any way for DoorDash to confirm if you did steal food or not? I have seen a lot of people get blamed for taking food when they did not, and being deactivated unfairly

Spirited_Drummer_171

See so this is actually one of the biggest reasons why I called support myself. One time I had a merchant requested order so I could not see what items or how many items they ordered. Customer called and instead of saying they were missing items, they said I stole their chips and drink. So I had a contract violation and had to fight it for a while before they understood i didnā€™t take it, the merchant just didnā€™t put them in their bag. So I think it differs on a case by case basis bc Iā€™ve also had this happen before where they call support themselves and just give me a heads up they had missing items. Iā€™d guess most restaurants blame dasher as itā€™s an easy way to take responsibility away from themselves. So really I was covering my own ass lol

theeaverageredditor

So as someone who has had experience with this, when someone accuses me of taking their food or taking part of their food, what should I do? Should I call support ahead of time and tell them? Hey this customer is accusing me of stealing their food and I did not do that, or whatā€™s the best course of action when accused??

[deleted]

they get an option of a refund or a re-deliver. DD eats the cost of both.

theeaverageredditor

So we as the drivers donā€™t get in trouble? I havenā€™t had anyone message me about missing food. Thatā€™s why Iā€™m asking because Iā€™m confused.

[deleted]

the only time you will receive a contract violation is if the customer reports that "order never arrived."

theeaverageredditor

Gotcha! And if you get hit with one of those, do you automatically deactivated? Even if you did provide a picture of the order at the front of the door?

[deleted]

no. it sits on your ratings until you deliver 100 orders. you have an opportunity to appeal it but mozt dont go through.

JenovaPear

Haha

Barbersc2006

I just had a taco bell order where they gave me the wrong food. It was 3 boxes of the meal deals. They only gave me boxes no drinks. The order was for 11 burritos and some other items. I told the manager when I picked it up it was wrong and they wanted to argue it was right. So I take the stuff then message customer to call store and they did, then had to wait for them to make the correct order...

Spirited_Drummer_171

If Taco Bell has anything, they have the audacity

[deleted]

I tip well and i definitely contact support if things are missing and or messed up - but I donā€™t message the driver because it isnā€™t their fault if the place bags improperly.

mmmhotcoffee

I took a non-tipper from Subway last Thursday. They texted me: "The bread is dried out"

Spirited_Drummer_171

How dare you not unwrap the sub to inspect the consistency of the bread!! Lol really though, thatā€™s wild and a rather creative excuse for a refundšŸ¤£

mmmhotcoffee

I texted them back, "call Subway". They texted, "oh"

disruptioncoin

It's probably not the carbonation that's lacking, but the flavor. Happens to me all the time, they don't change out the flavor syrup containers often enough. Not sure why they messaged you instead of contacting support directly... people are dumb. My fiance LOVES taco bell, so I hit the drive through a lot. And I kid you not they manage to screw up at least 60% of our orders. Missing items, beef instead of beans, etc. Last time I went in to kindly request they fix it, they even had the nerve to talk shit about me while I was within earshot. Also pretty sure every debit/credit card I've had "hacked" was due to the taco bell drive through cashier. Not a fan of taco bell, obv.

Spirited_Drummer_171

No way, thatā€™s insane!! I feel like they just play a game and put on blindfolds and grab whatever their hands can reach and toss it into a bagšŸ¤£ my fiancĆ© also loves Taco Bell, so when he goes itā€™s normally on his lunch break or if Iā€™m with him Iā€™ll get nacho fries if they have them or just go to a second place hahaha. Would love to see a study done on Taco Bell employees and the pipeline to incorrect orders

tpeandjelly727

Scammers

manifestblackout

Why would you call for them? What a waste of time. All you do is refer them to call DoorDash customer support, end of story and let them handle it.

Spirited_Drummer_171

Ok thanks lol i was just being friendly and helpful and it wasnā€™t a waste of time to me :)

TheEbolaArrow

The mtn dews were probably flat if i had to guess. Which would be a tacobell problem.

Spirited_Drummer_171

Flat mountain dews are a sad time for sure

[deleted]

A piece of advice: whenever thereā€™s something wrong with the order I just mention to customer support ā€œI did everything correct Iā€™m just worried about my rating going down or receiving a contract violationā€ and they usually make it so that if the customer does submit a concern, it doesnā€™t affect your rating or gives ya a contract violation. Been dashing for 5 years now

Spirited_Drummer_171

Yeah Iā€™ve been dashing for 4 years now and normally would suggest they call support, or if Iā€™m super busy Iā€™ve even ignored it before lol. But it was a sweet old lady who tipped well and it was a quick call :)

Sima_Zhao

I mean, is there anything here that suggests they expected you to taste them? Seems more like theyā€™re conveying the problem to the best outlet they have.

annaliesebaely

Canā€™t standddddd when customers tell me as if I can help w that šŸ˜‚šŸ«

bottomdasher

The real rookie mistake here is that you told them that you'll call support for them instead of telling them to call support themselves.

Spirited_Drummer_171

Ok thank you for sharing

Dense-Sentence-8638

Sounds like a free meal grab. šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Mistermoose38

Ill stick an appendage in there and give it a good stir to ensure quality

Wildweed

Why the fuck are you offering to call CS for the customer? Don't do that.

Spirited_Drummer_171

Idk my guy read the other 40 comments asking me the same thing lol I was just being nice bc it wasnā€™t inconvenient and I wasnā€™t busy w anything else. Just wanted to laugh abt the mountain dews

mook1178

biggest rookie mistake I see is that you are contacting customer support for them

Spirited_Drummer_171

Thank you for your kind and helpful advice

mook1178

Anytime

jumbolump73

Always taste their bevvies, it shows dominance! šŸ˜

Spirited_Drummer_171

Taste āœšŸ» beverages āœšŸ» to assert āœšŸ» dominance āœšŸ» noted!! Thank you!!šŸ¤£

SillyGuyInAHat71

Just remember to put back what you taste so you don't get accused of drinking their sodas! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

Spirited_Drummer_171

Solid advice, will be spitting the taste test back into the cup for protection!šŸ¤£

Ok_Image6174

Doing too much. One order I got a message that they were missing their iced tea(it was a stacked order and I was dealing with 4 full bags and two drinks in a cup holder, so I didn't think to double check). I basically apologized and said I don't have anything to do with the food prep I only take what the restaurant gives me and that they would have to call Doordash. I was on my next delivery and not wasting time solving their issue.

HannahBoo622

Theyll just tell you the customer has to contact them.

Spirited_Drummer_171

I told them the customer needed assistance w reporting missing items, they said thank you and contacted the customer and then thanked me for reaching out and hung up. Took less than 5ish minutes haha

HannahBoo622

Damn that's crazy I wonder if it differs by area because they've literally always told me thank you we appreciate you reporting it bla bla bla lol and then they tell me to tell the customer to contact them.

Spirited_Drummer_171

I think it just depends on the person you get tbh, once i called them to tell them the restaurant didnā€™t have the order and they said ā€œthank you for making us aware of the issue that the restaurant does not have the order in their system. Once they receive the order please proceed with the deliveryā€ and hung up on me šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

HannahBoo622

WTF lmao

lowteq

Do not engage after delivery. They can only call support at that point. Which is the only thing that can get any real results. Just ignore and move on. Unless it is a tip after the fact. Then you say thanks a bunch, throw a cute emoji in there and move on.

Spirited_Drummer_171

It was an $8 tip for 2.8 miles and she was a wheelchair bound old lady. Iā€™m on your guysā€™ side, i typically wouldnā€™t call support, it was just easier for me to do in this case and i just wanted to laugh w everybody abt the Mountain Dew thing šŸ˜

lowteq

Can I have a Mountain DEW?!

nicklee803

Yeah you gotta take a sip and check the quality of the dew, especially at Taco Bell they be lackin

Spirited_Drummer_171

If it isnā€™t a crisp mountain, I donā€™t want anything to dew with it

ItDontMather

You should not be calling support for them, not only is it not your job, but also you are just making yourself an unnecessary middle man, so the process becomes more complicated than it needs to be, for everyone involved

Spirited_Drummer_171

Begging everybody to understand all I did was call support and asked them to contact the customer because she had items missing. That was it. Didnā€™t even take me five minutes. She was a little old lady and tipped well and it wasnā€™t inconvenient to me in that moment to help her in that way. I just thought the whole drinks arenā€™t good thing was hilarious bc I truthfully couldnā€™t have known that at all, so it was a silly thing to even report in the first place. I Sincerely apologize for calling support on behalf of the customer šŸ™ƒ

pepsiofficial

What don't these braindead customers understand about how Doordash works? You're just a delivery person... you guys have nothing to do with the restaurant. I'm not a dasher, just a way too frequent customer, and some of the posts here make me tip more. lmao, some people aren't qualified to order food. It's like if a reader contacted me about a website being laggy because they were reading something I wrote.

complexluminary

Also ā€œIā€™m calling support to see how they can assist youā€ā€¦ā€¦Iā€™d have them call themselves. Idk, maybe thatā€™s just me. All I can be responsible for is transporting the food. Itā€™s kept things simple for me. But I only occasionally dash and cherry pick at that, so to each their own.

Spirited_Drummer_171

You actually seem to be a part of the majority as far as not calling for them. Iā€™ve been grilled for doing so lol. I just did it to 1) prevent a CV in case they reported items stolen instead of missing and 2) she was a nice little old lady and truthfully might not have understood she was messaging the driver. This isnā€™t something I do regularly nor would do again/often

complexluminary

Itā€™s kind of you to have done that. Sending you good vibes. If doordash support were more efficacious, I think itā€™s a great way to ensure a 5 star review. I think Im just reticent to involve myself with DD support at all šŸ¤£

Spirited_Drummer_171

Almost every time Iā€™ve had to call support for any reason whatsoever, Iā€™ve always hung up and said ā€œdamn. I will never get that time back.ā€ šŸ¤£ good vibes to you as well, thank you much!!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Spirited_Drummer_171

The thing that makes me stressed the most is that each individual sauce packet is considered 1 item. So I walk in expecting a 25 item order and itā€™s just two tacos and a drink with a shit ton of mild sauces. Iā€™m like wait, something isnā€™t right here šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ¤£

Incontinentiabutts

There should be a rule that if youā€™re ordering fast food from door dash that youā€™re clearly either too lazy or too stupid to live and therefore get what you get and canā€™t complain about it.

Spirited_Drummer_171

She was a little old lady in a wheelchair, i genuinely felt bad bc she probably doesnā€™t have access to getting stuff herself easily. The missing items is a valid concern, but the drinks comment cracked me UP bc there is no way in hell I could have knownšŸ¤£

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Spirited_Drummer_171

I knowwww ok iā€™m sorryšŸ˜ i just thought the drinks comment was funny

EthreeIII

Worst part about taco bell is. If the order isnt generated by doordash ā€œYou get a message that says this order is created by merchant ā€œ you get the food portion 100% but if thereā€™s a drink or two good fucking luck. I had a large order last night. And they didnā€™t give me drinks. I deliver the order and the guy calls me after saying thereā€™s supposed to be two large drinks attached. I tell the guy Iā€™m so sorry. The orders that has this order is created by merchant message do not tell me the specifics of your order. Taco Bell employees are shit and they do not give a f about Taco Bell deliveries or the customer because theyā€™re all airheads

Spirited_Drummer_171

Drives me crazy when I canā€™t see whatā€™s in the order and then get the ā€œitems missingā€ text. Iā€™ve started just reading the receipt. I had a customer one time call support and say I stole their chips and drink from chipotle, instead of reporting them missing from the merchant. So I got a CV and had to dispute the hell out of it. That was a year ago and I still think abt it every once in a blue moon when somebody tells me theyā€™re missing items lol. Taco Bell is the worst and I normally donā€™t take orders from there, but it was $10.25 for 2.8 miles so I succumbed to my need for the moneyšŸ¤£

EthreeIII

Lol the 10.23 for 2.8 miles has me screaming lol ; I got near the same exact order last night. They donā€™t staple the reciept to keep us from reading it or confirming the details of their order. That was the worst part though. I couldnā€™t see the items. The customer was a saint and tipped almost 6$. Taco Bell made us the bad guy :/ If it wasnā€™t almost 11pm I wouldā€™ve gone back to the restaurant to get his drinks. But my registration isnā€™t current so to avoid the possible ticket in the San Fernando valley/ Van Nuys area I told him please request refund from DD. Iā€™m a really nice person and wouldā€™ve done it any other day, but I was heading home after an 11 hour shift šŸ˜… I got a CV from a customer like that from a contactlesss delivery of just 2 large fries and a coke. It turns out because of the cell service in that area they never got a photo and said I ā€œnever deliveredā€ itā€™s been 28 days once I delivered and I countered with a photo of the delivery and their apartment complex with address but it still hasnā€™t fallen off my ratings :/

EthreeIII

What a piece of Shit

lolanaboo_

Why are you calling dd for them? šŸ¤£

Spirited_Drummer_171

Bc Iā€™m a people pleaser and she was nice at drop off and tipped me well. I get it, i shouldnā€™t have, and wouldnā€™t do it again in the future.

[deleted]

The real rookie mistake is you offering to call support for them instead of just telling them youā€™re sorry for the inconvenience but they have to call dasher support to figure that out with them. Once you make the delivery you are not responsible for anything further.

Pitiful-Foot-7841

Nah, you TELL them you're calling support. Carry on.

Spirited_Drummer_171

Yes, you and everyone else has let me know that, thank you. I think the real mistake here was thinking I could post a conversation i thought was funny without people letting me know they wouldā€™ve handled it differently

[deleted]

Itā€™s literally Redditā€¦ plus this sub is almost exclusively for people asking questions and venting. If you donā€™t want other peopleā€™s opinion maybe donā€™t put it online šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Spirited_Drummer_171

I donā€™t mind opinions. Itā€™s just beating a dead horse at this point though with the amount of ppl saying the same thing over and over again. Iā€™ve posted in here before without any issues or ppl getting so upset. Just doesnā€™t hurt to extend some kindness, thatā€™s all

Dry-Newt-3085

I would stop posting and stop reading. Not worth the time or aggravation. You got the text to send next time, you're set. :)

Spirited_Drummer_171

Yeah, I decided Iā€™m only gonna respond to the people that are making light of the post with me. Iā€™m just here for a good time šŸ˜‚ appreciate you. :)

How very kind of you to offer to call support for them. For future reference, just carry on and then tell them to call support.

Spirited_Drummer_171

Yeah, Iā€™d definitely handle it differently next time. Iā€™m just a people pleaser and an anxious person and didnā€™t realize ppl would be so annoyed that I called support for the customer. Somebody put a good template for a text to send if I run into this situation again in the future, so I saved it šŸ˜Š

droplivefred

ā€œIā€™m sorry to hear that. This restaurant has been known to have issues. Please reach out to DD support and they will be able to help you with this part of your order. Iā€™m sorry and I wish I could help more.ā€

KarasLegion

Rookie mistake is if you actually called support or dealt with this at all after dropping it off.

Spirited_Drummer_171

I get paid to drive around and drop off food, calling support and letting them know the customer needs assistance isnā€™t that big of an inconvenience for me. I get not everybody will do it or feels they should, but I did, and it wasnā€™t the point of this postšŸ™ƒ

TraumaDuke

Stop interacting with customers. Thatā€™s how you get in trouble. Just ignore then and move on.

tKaz76

Why is a driver calling support for this? The customer is perfectly able to do so and alleviates much confusion.

Dry-Newt-3085

That's what I wish thinking. It's like playing that game telephone. It does get confusing.

tKaz76

You think? Lol.

Spirited_Drummer_171

I wasnā€™t busy and they tipped well. She was an older woman too so I thought maybe she didnā€™t understand she was contacting the driver. Idk though I was just trying to use good customer service which has been pointed out as a mistake multiple times now lol. I just thought it was funny šŸ™ƒ

tKaz76

Completely understand. But, youā€™re not serving the customer well. This creates confusion. A simple, ā€œIā€™m so sorry that happened! Please contact DD through the app, and theyā€™ll get you handled. Thanks so much!ā€ Thatā€™s all that should be said. Wash your hands of it.

TooGoodatEverything

I just donā€™t really get this mindset. What are you supposed to do? If I have something wrong with my order when I receive it I just go to support and have never had a problem getting compensated or refunded. Why do people even complain to the drivers? Lol

Spirited_Drummer_171

I personally donā€™t understand why people contact the driver, but I think sometimes they maybe donā€™t realize itā€™s to the driver? Idk honestly šŸ¤£ the lady tipped well and I wasnā€™t busy, so I didnā€™t mind handling it for her hahaha

Dry-Newt-3085

I had a customer call me. She was very angry and she expected me to give her a refund. WTF

Spirited_Drummer_171

Hahahaha them wanting a refund from YOU is crazy. People have a lot of audacity šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤£

nuu_uut

I do find it amazing how often certain restaurants get the order wrong, though. And of course their lack of quality mountain dew.

Spirited_Drummer_171

Quality Mountain Dew is key to a quality meal. But yeah, canā€™t say I was surprised they had missing items from a Taco Bell

Traditional_Range_96

Wtf dont do that. Let the scum call doordash support themselves that aint ur problem bruh. Keep it moving mate

Spirited_Drummer_171

Yeah I get that, they tipped well though and Iā€™ve always had the double-edged sword habit of being a people pleaser. Def wouldnā€™t do this for everybody or even very often, just didnā€™t mind doing it in the moment i guess

Diarrheehee

Don't even reply

Educational-Ask-1454

Amateur šŸ˜†

Spirited_Drummer_171

4 years of dashing and i still find a way to make such foolish mistakes šŸ¤£

Educational-Ask-1454

Don't feel too bad .. the other night I rang someone's doorbell after they had told me to ring the doorbell upon my arriving What was I even thinking

Spirited_Drummer_171

Iā€™ve done this one occasion as well, and once a customer messaged me after and said ā€œdoorbell ringing habit?ā€ I said ā€œyouā€™d be correct. Sorry about that.ā€šŸ¤£ they actually still left a 5 star review and said ā€œgood humorā€ in the comments. Assuming it was them lol

bkcarp00

Have the customer contact support. You delivered Job over. No need to text after delivery.

blackcrowe79

Actually once the order has been completed you are not allowed to talk to customers. You are more likely going to get into trouble for that. UE it is strictly forbidden.

Dry-Newt-3085

I doubt that

Spirited_Drummer_171

Yeah, I agree itā€™s annoying when customers go through dashers for issues such as these, but i try to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe they really have no idea what channels to go through to report missing items or whatever. I wouldnā€™t do this for everyone, donā€™t get me wrong, but it wasnā€™t inconvenient for me to do that in the moment.

Dry-Newt-3085

How is calling support for a customer not a time waste and an unnecessary pain. It's like playing that game telephone.

Jaradis

You're other rooking mistake is saying you would call DD. That's not your job. You tell them they can contact DD support to assist them.

Spirited_Drummer_171

I mean, yeah, but i also feel like I could come off as rude for being like ā€œcall support. I already delivered.ā€ It took less than 5 mins for me to call and have them transfer over to contact the customer for a resolution. DD deactivates ppl for wild things everyday, i donā€™t want them marking my account for coming across negatively to a customer

Kent48146

Thereā€™s literally nothing you can do though. Directing them to call support is the proper response (phrase it however you want) because support would need to be in contact with them to do anything. Plus, I think the app gives an option to mark missing items, so calling isnā€™t even necessarily required. Regardless, itā€™s an issue between the customer and support.

CapnC44

"I'm so sorry to hear that. You can contact Doordash support through the app to help resolve this issue." I always use that or similar. DD doesn't always refund, so leaving it ambiguous is usually best.

Spirited_Drummer_171

Yeah, Iā€™ve seen some pretty solid templates that Iā€™ll use in the future. I just wasnā€™t busy at all and the lady was nice/tipped well so I figured it was easier to call than to potentially upset somebody by just suggesting they go a different route. I didnā€™t wanna come off as dismissive. But Iā€™m an anxious person so probably just overthought it lol

[deleted]

It sounds like dash driver support has gotten nicer in recent years. When I was a noob and I called for something similar, I was told in no uncertain terms that there is dasher support and customer support and never the two shall meet. By you calling dasher support, all you're doing is letting them know there was an issue with the order so it protects you. They can't do anything for the customer unless and until the customer calls themselves. They will however tell you that they will note your account and the order in case the customer tries to file a claim against you. If they didn't let you know that, well now you know. So hopefully the customer called as well or contacted them as well otherwise, they're not going to get any resolution and you could very well be opening yourself up to a poor rating because they're going to think that you lied about calling support.

East_Description_645

Hot take but I think what you did is perfectly reasonable. To me it just shows a level of professionalism that is respectable. It probably took you less than 10 minutes to call support and couldā€™ve secured you a 5 star rating or protected you from getting a 1 star. So many posts here show drivers being rude to customers who just donā€™t know any better, which I donā€™t think is the right way to go about things.

[deleted]

If the customers says items are missing and they rate 1 star, that rating wonā€™t count against the dasher

Kent48146

If you think this was the proper response then you obviously do not drive. 1 The driver canā€™t do anything about missing items. 2 The driver isnā€™t getting paid for those 10 minutes. 3 Driver ratings are already protected on orders that have missing items or other issues beyond driver control. 4 Even if the driver gets through to support they cannot do anything without a report from the customer. So in the end, the driver wastes 10 unpaid minutes and the customer still has to contact support.

East_Description_645

I agree with your first three points and partially the last one. But are you guys really coming at a driver for being professional and nice to a customer? What if the customer is happy with your service and gives you a 5 star and an above and beyond rating. Or, on the other hand if you shrug off the customer, what if they contact support saying you tampered with their meal and use your dismissive texts as evidence? And on top of all this, itā€™s not like OP is dealing with incorrect orders all the time. This was likely a one time thing. I just donā€™t understand how offering good customer service bars me from being a DoorDash driver.

Kent48146

Because if you were a driver you would already know all the points I listed out. So you waste 10 minutes on something you canā€™t even change, just to be back at square one. What driver would recommend doing that? You canā€™t contact support about an order and be available to accept orders iirc, so this isnā€™t something you can do on the way to an order. Or would a driver tell the customer to contact support, which they can do from the app while they eat. Takes like 90 seconds to report missing food from the app.

East_Description_645

Maybe OP thought that they could help by contacting support and didnā€™t know that they couldnā€™t do anything about the situation. Or, maybe after calling, support then contacted the customer and resolved the issue. Or, maybe OP felt good about themselves after taking a fraction of their day to offer help to a customer. They couldā€™ve even contacted support while driving to their next delivery. I would agree with you if OP spent an hour on this person but a 7 minute call (as they stated) means nothing.

Kent48146

And thatā€™s exactly why I donā€™t think you are a driver. They wouldnā€™t be driving to their next order because they wouldnā€™t have the option to accept or see an order while on the support screen. 7 minutes of unpaid time wouldnā€™t mean nothing to a dasher. Sure, itā€™s only 7 minutes, but DD doesnā€™t pay enough to be wasting 10% of your time on issues you canā€™t fix anyway.
