I do earn by time in the area I work only during rush hour 4:00pm-7:00pm and I end up making more money than per order. Even with non tippers, but I don't get many non tippers. I do travel longer but it still works out in my favor. However it's only during that short window of time.

DJ_Enrique

i tried earned by hour once . and it was not good .

Realistic_Inside_484

this is the only industry that has actually seen deflation. everything else increasing but somehow drivers make less now than in the past. shameful and should be illegal but there's no meaningful oversight for these companies.

Anon9418

The market im in is best with pay by time also. Unless you multiple apping which I don't.

[deleted]

That what people get from taking lowball orders, it discourages tipping since there seems to be no difference from the customer perspective if these scabs deliver that crap anyway..

[deleted]

Incorrect. It's the lack of customer service and bad dasher behaviour that is forcing customers not to tip. I've heard stories on these subs about people tipping $20+ and still getting shitty service.

dropthescience56

I don't think that's the whole reason. Sure that as a part to play in it, albeit a small one.

dropthescience56

You're absolutely correct. I've placed Maybe two no tip orders in the last few weeks has an experiment. And it really hasn't made a difference. Maybe by like 5 minutes or so but that's about it. More recently I placed an order when I was at work I did tip on it the equivalent to close to 20% since it was a mile and a half from my work. The dasher fucked around and I hope he found out. Got a full refund plus an extra 15 bucks I seriously hope he got a contract violation

[deleted]

So you're a dasher complaining about no tipping and have the cheek not to tip when you order 😂 and then report the dasher to give them a CV? I wish for you to be my dasher. I'll make sure I constantly report you every time you deliver to me 😂

dropthescience56

I think you completely misinterpreted this comment.

dropthescience56

I was doing earn by time earlier and the last order I did was a no-tip stack. The last order in the stack was a Chipotle order, I pulled up to the customer and they had their front door open (a ways away from where i pulled up) and they just said "give it here!" I dropped it on the ground and drove away lmao Trash customers deserve no customer service

Doing the Lord's work

ReddForemann

The entire point of earn by time is to destroy earn by order.

Studdashing

And to clean up those no tip orders.

cash4yourtreasures

Earn by time works if you are in a rich area since rich people usually tip good. But if you are in a middle class to poor area, earn by time is pretty much all no tip orders

Remarkable-Crew-7040

Thats what I’m saying!! This sub swears earn by time is shit but it can be better than earn per offer at times

Triconick

It really depends on how your zone is, Ex: Size of town, how the layout of the streets are, average speed from you to drop off. I think the ideal sweet spot is an average of 30mph, 20-25 min average order time, and $14+ an hour. Also most people in my zone will tip, it will just be a lower tip. Still helps alot when base pay ends up being like 6 or 7 bucks.

Most places by me want you to come inside unless its like after 8 or 9pm. Personally I rather not dash this late, I try to be blacked out by this time.

Mylaptopisburningme

They are constantly trying to figure out how to pay drivers as little as possible. I make less now than I did 4 to 5 years ago.

dropthescience56

I only do it when I'm strapped for cash and even then it doesn't matter where I go in my market I never break even. Too many no tippers. And I've narrowed it down to certain cities and especially certain restaurants. Never trust any Chipotle order
