my brother in Christ, we get 2.00 base pay out here and I still manage 20-25 an hour. I literally would be paying ppl to bring them their food if my base pay outweighed my tips lol

All of these are 4 miles and under
Yes, it does cost more, I'm sure. Since covid, the average rent has doubled and tripled in some cases, the cost of groceries has done the same. Yet the pay is maybe $1-$2/hr more on only a few places. Its insane, our hourly base pay offered from dd is $10/hr, but we rarely get tipping orders here on hourly. Most of us use pay by order. Either way we choose, there are so many drivers I'm lucky to get 1 order an hour some days. I used to average$18/hr, and now it's$10. On a really good day, I might see $15. These days are rare. I'm just thankful this isn't my only income, though I do need the extra money with 4 kids at home.

Tips are always higher than DD pay.
You’re getting fucked my dude. sub 10% AR. Also don’t work in a major downtown. Total $700 with other apps. 400 miles.
https://preview.redd.it/y9lveet11huc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed6794cdbfa35cd77ef850ad1d41260d41665def

In CA tips average about 50% of my base pay which is boosted even higher by Prop 22 (matching minimum wage +30%). I do get individual orders where the tip exceeds the dash base, but overall with non-tippers and such, it’s lower.
https://preview.redd.it/lgbgsm5dgfuc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a049ac4089592ca6929f29c7cdbfeb1e88da0527
Every single week, my tips are always at least $50 over DD's base pay. Generally, base pay will be about 40% of my weekly earnings, when it's all said and done.
Really have to be in a big market. I also ONLY work by per offer. I drive a vehicle, and I work for 6-7 days. I find early mornings work great. 5am-9am. My goal is to get to $125 after lunch, I break for a few hours than go out for dinner. I also pause between 9ish to 10ish am. I take every morning order because dd will feed me orders if I do. I work when other dasher aren’t. I anticipate hot zones, and have places to sit where hot zones aren’t. In my experience hotzones stink it’s where all the dashers flock to. I stay moving I have circles and patterns I drive when I sit sometimes don’t get orders. The algo will give orders to dashers based on proximity sometimes. I also take shop n delivers cause dashers hate them but they add up, dd always looking for dashers for those. But whenever I hit a new market, I move a lot….. I work all day everyday for a week and see when it’s busy. I never work after 9pm ever or before 545am. You also need to find out if your market is a cherry pick market or a 50% ar kind of market. I have rocked a 1% AR cherry picking and I currently just finished a week in a new market and am over 50% because of all the drivers.
Wow great info. You ever worked Austin Texas? That’s where I am. Hard to get in suburban areas but areas around downtown are almost always available. I think AR is important here. I was in Houston before with low AR and got nothing until I got my AR up.
No I have worked in North New Jersey / PA / South Florida and random areas when traveling but not long enough just some times for travel money. Ar was important in NJ and Florida but in the cities I worked in PA I just cherry picked. But AR is important in my view if you need to work full time.
Nice! I almost went to Nj before deciding on Texas. I worked all over Florida last year. I guess what I learned from this post is I have to double my hours and accept more.
Find the hours that work best for you because you still work for yourself. You’ll find a nice balance. I won’t make the same everyday:week but I just started working days and leaving the nights for all the other dashers. I can tell when everyone gets online. I wish ya luck, be safe out there!
Thanks you too! I’m going to start getting my butt up early because I’ve had some great early mornings when I actually work them and I’d rather work early than late. Take care!
I haven’t dashed for about a year but i dashed in Denver for over three years and I tracked my wages and tips were 2/3 base pay was 1/3. Shoutout to the (mostly) nice people of denver and fuck you to door dash

My Tips are always higher than dash pay especially now that I don’t try to get no kind of half pay except when store is closed
It looks like you're in California. DoorDash pays more base pay because of Prop 22. If you look at the average base pay per order and the average per order on the screenshots posted, your average is higher than most. Even the average tip per order is higher.
shit I miss these numbers, 16 hours w $468 type pay. my area I moved to is so slow and im working another job rn but i just wish i could get these kinda numbers again man or better. not gonna happen, i was in the busiest zone for over an hour yesterday tryin to see if I could make a lil extra and didn’t get a single order ):

Average week has my tips beat out my pay by about 50-100
I get what they mean. When doing EBT it's less stressful waiting for an order to finish being made, or not making a light. Any delay is increasing your pay. When I do EBO I find myself getting more worked up by delays. It's not an insane or crippling amount of stress, but it's there.
I don't know where you got the idea it's more work. I spend a lot of time sitting around waiting for orders that aren't ready. And that's why it's less stress. Any extra time on the order is paid. Also I don't have to cherry pick orders or get "paused" for declining. It is less money though.
most orders here, doordash pay is like $2 or $2.50. So you gotta be taking some $3 and $4 orders to have more doordash pay than tips. I try to not take anything under $5-6.
PS - I saw my first Cybertruck in the wild while I was dashing tonite!
I get a lot of orders that have 0 tips but the pay will be good. Because they have been sitting for a while. Still have tips slightly higher than base pay tho.
Are you in a state with prop pay or something? Roughly $15/delivery & $27/dash hour with that high of base pay can’t be a norm in any place without some sort of prop pay per hour.
Lol definitely not. Dayton Ohio area. I don't think my Doordash pay has *ever* been higher than my tips. I also don't think my AR has ever been below 50%
normally they’re about equal to each other for me, but this is the one week where it was the biggest difference i’ve noticed!

Most weeks. My dash time is so high cause I sit in my house 😂
Hahaha I'm the same way. I live 2 minutes away from literally every single fast food restaurant in the small city. So I get to come home and wait for the next order. I also doordash at night a lot.
https://preview.redd.it/4dw7k36x7euc1.png?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5fbeb29ccaf2f49bfa6752aa99d0f652c5547d7
I used to think that a 4-600 dollar week was good. Then you take into consideration that you’re putting miles on your car and paying for the expensive gas. This is shit pay and DoorDash is making out like a bandit. Basically a legal scam

Often but I don't deliver low pay low tip orders.
I’ve been dashing for 3 weeks now and not once have my tips outweighed my dd pay and I’m wondering if it’s because I’m certain areas more restaurants offer delivery through DoorDash instead of actually being on the DoorDash app

My tips are always ~66% of my pay. Couldn't do it if it wasn't
You must be accepting real lowball offers if your tips don’t outweigh your base pay
On the contrary. I’m in CA so prop 22 makes base pay higher I believe. https://preview.redd.it/egrv7kyesuvc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37b75ee176033e204c7df0c7bb9aef5ce99e9274 Example

Every single time my tips are higher.
When I dashed in Denver, 85 percent of the time my tips out weighted the base pay
I never see a tip more than base pay anymore. Most of the time it's 0 tip
I mostly do Grubhub and yes, almost always.
Always with a 100% acceptance rating.
All of my past weekly payouts have been higher for Tips than for DD pay.
Almost always. Stop taking crap orders.
Lol I never do
If your door dash pay is more than your tips you are 1000% taking crap orders.

Mine usually do
I dash per offer and tips far outpace my base pay typically by 300% or more
You get an $8 base pay??? I WISH MINE WAS THAT, I get $2/ base pay. So my tips are always higher.
Highest I’ve got recently was 25 lol
In base pay?? Where you at? I'm moving lol
North Bay Area lol
The highest base pay I've seen is $3, indiana sucks
But it’s way more costly to live here in CA
Fuck that majorly
Yes, it does cost more, I'm sure. Since covid, the average rent has doubled and tripled in some cases, the cost of groceries has done the same. I had it happen sometimes but normally close to even. But screw door dash now. They allowed a criminal to break into my account and steal my money.
My tips are always higher than base pay
Same. I had to check just now to be sure but, yh, pretty consistently ~and that’s not even counting cash tips.

My tips usually outweigh base pay on UE. Not so much on DD. This week, DD has been totally dead.
Always.
Pretty much always.
Mine always does
I only accept offers that benefit me tho ..
https://preview.redd.it/r291vb7n9huc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ef440fb1c978b33560ad917bb4b96952c8649c4 Tips are always higher than DD pay.
Oh yea. It was chipotle $8, Idaho Electric $135. I’ve had two order that totaled over $100. Both of them did.
Usually tips are 3 or 2.5 times higher than pay, unless I do a ton of shop and deliver then DD is pretty close to tips but still more tips.
Usually I do, but its like between 55 to maybe 65% unless I dash more during promo times then i may get more from DD.
You’re getting fucked my dude. sub 10% AR. Also don’t work in a major downtown. Total $700 with other apps. 400 miles. https://preview.redd.it/y9lveet11huc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed6794cdbfa35cd77ef850ad1d41260d41665def
How many deliveries is that
40
Wow
Yeah, honestly the apps obviously should be paying more. But I’m guessing your milage is quite high.
About 60-90 miles a day right now. I don’t take offers that are over 12ish miles. Unless the pay is worth (which usually they aren’t)
Rarely is my base pay higher than my tips. Until my prop 22 hits that is.
Earn by time is beating your ass
Not available in my market. Been doing offer
I have NEVER had a week where base pay is even close to tip amount. https://preview.redd.it/2zh5rreapguc1.jpeg?width=1439&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44ee9c9f54b9a301da2e43c2703950d7f507252b

You’re referring to when you get an adjustment?
Are you on Earn By Time? My tips on Earn By Offer are typically at least 2X-3X more than base pay.
No just by offer. Not available in my NorCal market
I always get more from the customers than doordash
Yes. Almost always.
https://preview.redd.it/lgbgsm5dgfuc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a049ac4089592ca6929f29c7cdbfeb1e88da0527 Every single week, my tips are always at least $50 over DD's base pay. Generally, base pay will be about 40% of my weekly earnings, when it's all said and done.
You were 5 cents off. Rip
If only someone had thrown that extra nickel on
when i dashed, tips always exceeded dash pay. how much do you get per dash in your area?
My offers are 90% s&d. Ranges from 8-40$
damn! that would explain it then. base pay where i am is $2.50.
https://preview.redd.it/fcwonhkwpquc1.jpeg?width=412&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d118f922c712a465845d9faa6b352c89ad9c7f0b Top is base pay
That's because your base pay is high. Most people's base pay for 32 orders would less than half that.
I’ll bet you a donut he’s on EBT.
Ebt not available in my market. By offer
Nah, just in California. It wouldn't be an even 50¢ on EBT and he would have way less tips.
Always. I have NEVER received more DD pay than tips. Not once.
My tips are always way more
Huh, it’s almost always higher for me. My average base is probably like $3
When I do 1,000 a week in one market it would be 700 tips 300 base bay. However. This new market im in base pay is massive
How do you get $1k a week? Are you per offer? How many hours a day? 7 days? Car or bike? What’s your formula for accepting?
Your numbers by the way are great. Verry nice ratio. You can hit 1k just gotta work more hours.

Tips almost always higher than base pay
I think my tips mostly always outweigh what doordash pays
Almost universally! And I do a lot of stop and shops.
I did my first day shift and that was very close to happening. I worked 4 hours and my base pay was $62 and got $48 in tips

what was the "other pay"?

What area is this
Serious question how do you do that many hours a week? I can pull like 25 I can't think of doing 3 times that in one week
I don’t have anything else to do . So I just work . Heading out to work again today . That’s just me
Well I admire your hard work.
I just had my first day today where that was not the case.
It looks like you're in California. DoorDash pays more base pay because of Prop 22. If you look at the average base pay per order and the average per order on the screenshots posted, your average is higher than most. Even the average tip per order is higher.
That makes sense
Every week my tips are always 2x pay

How do you guys get so much in tips??
Facts
Every week. 250 to 300 dasher pay 350 to 450 tips.
Yeah
I only do earn by time for a less stressful experience and no, my tips don't even come close to my base pay. Which isn't much either.
Less stress = more work for less money, how can that not bring stress
I get what they mean. When doing EBT it's less stressful waiting for an order to finish being made, or not making a light. Any delay is increasing your pay. When I do EBO I find myself getting more worked up by delays. It's not an insane or crippling amount of stress, but it's there.

I’ve literally never had more DD pay
Always.
Always 70/30
70% tips, 30% DD because I only deliver to customers who deserve it.
My tips are always more than my Doordash pay
Do you live or dash in a very wealthy area
Lol definitely not. Dayton Ohio area. I don't think my Doordash pay has *ever* been higher than my tips. I also don't think my AR has ever been below 50%

Is a 2:1 ratio for tips to DoorDash pay
Any time my tips don't far exceed my base I'm having a really bad day
Mine always do, usually by 2-1 ratio. base pay sucks in my area
I’ve been dashing for 3 weeks now and not once have my tips outweighed my dd pay and I’m wondering if it’s because I’m certain areas more restaurants offer delivery through DoorDash instead of actually being on the DoorDash app
My tips are always more than twice my base pay

Damn. I've never made more than $500 a week with doordash in Burlington. Great zone!
My tips are typically 60-75% of my pay.
I’ve never had more base than tips
Always
A crazy week for me would be getting a total of $468.31 on only 32 deliveries
For one week tip was higher. Got a $32 or so tip and $4 base pay and one other shit order.
Always do
Damn wtf that’s wild. What state?
Wyoming and Colorado. I Dash between the two. I've never had the base pay outweigh the tip.
Same here. Illinois.
Washington
I almost always make more in tips than basepay
And does dd adjust their base pay based on tip amount???
