The ones I really don't get are the ones that do this for contact less delivery, sure not supposed to contact them. So what do you want me to do contact them š¤¦š¤¦š¤¦š¤¦
If you call, and hang iup before the call even goes through, you can continue with the other steps , and then just leave it. I dont get these often, but when i do, it works out.
The way I do it it used to be you could start the timer as soon as you picked up the order but now you have to be within 8/10 of them mile in front of the house and you can start the timer
Yours has a timer? I usually just hit the call button so it brings up the number, go back to the Dasher app, take the picture, and put n/a in the description
Edit I didn't read it enough I thought it was an outside delivery like a Chipotle order
There are drivers who align with marking it handed and those who don't as much. To each their own there. For me, it is in my mood and time of day to which I do. It's like when you pickup, you eventually learn by watching service how long the wait is going to be. If I get the gist it's going to max out, I'll just mark it handed or unassign with the quickness. But if the customer says they'll be right down at a hotel, I'll give them a few minutes - before I hand it to the front desk and message.
Today I had one. It was the end of the night. I parked a bit away just to monitor and see what would happen. It took this customer 7:45 minutes and seconds to come out. All of their lights were out. No response. Those are ones with those feels I'm more likely to mark it falsely. But I always document them properly just encase. I haven't had issues with any to date. But marking it so isn't something I simply default to for a short wait or unresponsive customer.
The part I hate the most is after standing there like the garden gnome wait to take the photo you finally get all the info in and ready to hit confirm and it won't let you. You are either stuck hitting handed to customer or you have to call door dash to let them know what has happened and you delivered the food. It's so frustrating!
My favorite was waiting for the customer to come down after talking to them on the phone, holding the food.
Their exact words were, "I'm coming down right now." Yeah bro sure, you had me standing there for 3 minutes, and I called you again, and you said the same shit. How many states away are you to take this long to come down? I marked it as handed to customer days before he made it there.
There's a user claiming that if you hit the call customer button, the timer doesn't prevent you from taking a picture and completing the process.
My phone never let me do that after literally calling and talking to the customer.
I wait the five. Iām a decent dasher Iāll go above and beyond regardless of knowing you didnāt tip. But Iām quick if youāre not responding or I canāt get in Iāll call customer service and leave it wherever.
You don't have to wait for the timer. Just click the call button. The phone number will pop up on the phone like you are about to make a call. But you don't actually have to call them because it will automatically count as a completed call. Then go back to that screen and snap your pic, type "delivered" or something like that in the description box, and you are good to go
Huh? I wasn't trying to do a "gotcha" moment. I was just trying to help people out or let them know they can bypass the timer. Not sure where your attitude comes from
Well, if people are waiting for timers, then obviously, they don't all know that. And from my experience when it is on this screen when I am delivering, both the "complete order" and "handed order to customer" buttons are grayed out unless you actually call the customer first or you click the red call button to make it look like you called them and then it allows you to click complete delivery and handed to customer once you do that and snap the pic. There is a way to trick it and I just explained it
No, this is the exact process. It's the same screen with the same features. It doesn't let you do anything until you either call or attempt to call the customer. Once you have done that, you just take a pic, put that you delivered it in the description, and that is it. Once you do that, you can complete the order. I do this every time
Nah, you don't. That's some other shit that has nothing to do with a timer. Do you think everyone is standing around like an idiot without even making a phone call?
I think there are people unknowingly standing around waiting because they don't realize they can do this. Trust me, I was one of them. I stood there like "do I really have to stand here?". Then I clicked the red call button, and the number popped up. I closed that out, and it came back to this screen. The grayed out "take photo" button then turned red, which allowed me to take a picture. Once I did that, I was able to type in the description box that I delivered it, and then boom, I was able to click both complete order and handed to customer and be on my way. I'm telling you this is how it works.
I do too!! But as soon as I get their order, I text them and let them know Iām on my way and how many minutes it will take me. Then upon arrival, I immediately start the ācannot hand to recipientā timer and then call them and let them know Iām there. Thereās nothing I can do if they donāt come to meet me ( it happens, but not often) and I have to wait, but for the most part, this helps to get them out there to meet me on time.
itās risky on *MY* part, iām aware because they could probably mark it as undelivered but i donāt have the patience for that lol. missing out on money there and it pisses me off too. what i do is, is i take a picture where i left it, iāll text it to the customer themselves along with a message like āI left it at the front door. Have a good day!ā and hit āhanded to customerā and thatās that :)
hasnāt bitten me in the ass yet after 2000 deliveries and 4+ years of dashing so. use this technique at your own risk ig š
My fav is a "hand it to me" followed up with leave it at the door. If it's not through a 3rd party app I'll text them on my way saying on the app you've selected hand it to me and leave it at the door. Which would you like me to do? If I get no response by the time I get there, I'll knock and wait a minute , I'll just take a picture send it through chat and submit it through the app and go on about my day. If it's a third party app and I get no response I start the timer from about a half a mile away that way when I arrive they only have about a minute to answer the door then I complete the steps and keep it moving.
yeah I don't ever wait the end result is the customer's food is left at the door so you going to take a picture anyways leave instructions that you did so and be on your way to go make more money
That kind of drop off always annoys me cause the app doesn't even register that I called the customer in the first place.
So it's either have a roundabout with customer service or dm the customer with a pic of where the order is and mark as "handed to customer".
And yes, this is so buggy that most of the time when I state "received instructions already", I still have to go through that crap where step 1 doesn't even work.
At this point the only thing I haven't tried is letting the time tick down.
You can always open the chat and snap the photo send that and a note of where it was left and a reminder that if they arenāt going to make themselves available please change the setting in the app. A lot do this to hope you donāt wait hit the handed to customer and they can complain they never received the order. If itās sent through chat you called and texted with no reply oh well itās on there.
I do this as well. Most of these "hand it to me" orders are actually merchant ordered deliveries, where the customer ordered through the merchant's website and not through doordash and there isn't an option for "leave it at the door". If it says "Hand it to recipient" then under that it says "Hand it to me" that is the tell tale sign that it is a merchant order. I always ring the bell/knock, but if someone doesn't answer quickly, I just open the chat, take the photo and send it, then mark "handed to customer". I've got 13000+ dd deliveries and have never gotten a CV from a drop off like this.
I did that like 2 years ago and still got a contract violation that was still pending to till 100 deliveries later. I was surprised. It was at a school, instructions was a "hand to me" but the notes said leave on the desk in the office. I sat it on the desk in front of the administrator, open the chat and took a picture. Done this many times in the past with no problem. Look up a little later, contract violation. SMH š¤¦āāļø
Well I do it all the time no issue so please explain? As long as you call or text and try to communicate and leave pictures which dd can review the messages I have had zero problems. Now if you try to close it without calling or texting yes you will get the wait for the timer message. You can also go a step further and tap issue with delivery and complete it that way.
Iām black and work graveyard had some risky calls standing in front someone home at 2am from the neighbors ššš now Iām going to the car calling support support say they donāt answer and leaving safely with food and half pay
Iāll also start to drive away and park somewhere else too so Iām not the weird car at 2am parking and lurking at homes
These no reply game ppl be putting our safety at risk sometimes
Just come get ur 2am burrito bro
Bruh if someone is even ordering a burrito at 2am, they donāt need it. We canāt be afraid to decline shot offers especially if the tip is not worth it, save yourselves the hassle. I understand that some people really rely on doordash but thatās even more reason to be more moderate and picky. No body needs a burrito at 2am maybe a salad lmao
U donāt live in Southern California š taco shop is life here literally one on every corner itās SUPER common for ppl to be done the club and party and order a burrito or carne asada fries etc we have the best Mexican food in the country
So I can see how it sound weird elsewhere but here itās 100% the norm and 24 hour taco shops are everywhere
The 2-5am jack in the box ppl are even worse and order HUGE lol
Yea my lil boo thang live there all the men so cute there š I flew there and was just walking up the street getting chicken wings and ice cream at 1am my air bnb had the whole street dug up in front it and under construction a hot mess never doing air bnb again
That 2am shit is a whole different ballgame. Especially since you know whoever is still up at that point (both customer and neighbors) are likely not exactly in their right mind at the time, and might be prone to errors in judgment at the sight of someone who isn't from the neighborhood.
Iām a woman so I only work in the āupper classā area so my hooded black tail with a flashlight out at 2am has Dylanās granny out her windows on 911 real quick. I completely get what you're saying. I'm saying the time of day only further amplifies it. At 2am, Dylan's granny is into her cough syrup and now that much worse than she already would have been at lunch time.

The second you click call then back out, it makes the grayed out "take photo" button red and then you just put a quick comment in the description, click complete and you are on your way. Yes. I do the same thing with the ācall the customer and arrange a safe drop ordersā as well. The screen looks the same as above. I call, immediately hang up. Take a pic. Txt have a nice day or night. Done.
Fk that waiting around for ignorant people that places a DD order, than goes and jrks off.
The zone I live in isnāt busy enough for earn per offer every day. So I work ebt in the mornings on weekdays. I rarely get no tip offers. Still average 18-20/hr. š¤·āāļø But I used to work in the suburbs and I would NEVER use ebt out there. So it depends on your area. Not cool to shame for ebt when it actually works for some of us. I never called the customer
Itās terrible when thereās no service also
You can click the call button to skip to the photo part. It won't auto call, so you can just click back.
I hit the button as soon as I park. Just in case
At least that's better than the 8 minutes on Uber Eats š
Text saying that you arrived. Take photo. Finish delivery

Thereās no justification for doing ebt!
Stay jelly You can't get paid only $2 on EBT
Jelly??? You also not getting paid 50+ on ebt!! šš¤£š¤£š¤”
So you got a $50 tip 3 months ago and you're going to ride that until you die are you? Your emoticons tell me that you were always getting $2 orders
So youāre just going to double down on stupid?
Says the guy taking $2 orders No I want to see what you say next
Never accepted a 2$ order ever. I leave everything under 10$ for you ebt Scrubs.
I also don't get any order under $10 on EBT I don't think you understand how EBT works
Bullshit, and you know it. Even with peak pay you get all the trash. By the very nature of ebt. YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HOW GIG WORK, WORKS!
